As I continue to construct my identity, and remind myself of NOT always looking at myself through the eyes of others. It’s important to acknowledge that life (through the good and the necessary) will allow me to experience things that will provide growth and wisdom for my soul. I have always had a double-consciousness about the world I live in: looking at the world through the eyes of being a woman and through the eyes of being a woman of African descent. The only thing that has kept me grounded is the fact that I truly only know the things that I have experienced. And yet, still being young, and having much more to experience about life, means that I truly know nothing at all!Learning is key. Open mindedness is key. Perseverance is key, especially in a world where you are not encouraged to believe in yourself, but to only doubt yourself... Great trees take time to grow, for its roots need the deepest/strongest foundation. For its plight and height are destined for greatness. Never put a time table on your success. Define your own success and be content with your accomplishments. If for yourself, you feel you need to do more... than do more. But do more for yourself, because that is what YOU believe. I will say, that being content with LESS, is not acceptable, because we all deserve the best of what we are willing to work hard for. Work hard for what you want. Work hard for what you need. Do not make excuses. The result of your success is based on your investment and the amount of time you put into your craft. - Signed, A Proud Black Graduate (e.j.g) #BlackGraduation #LACCD #LASC #blackwritersmatter #blackbusinessmatters (at South Central LA)

I would say that I made an attempt to convince the Mayor of Los Angeles that South Central L.A. must be delegated and separated from the rest of Los Angeles County AND that I must be it's mayor... I begin by speaking it into existence... For now, I would say, I am the Honorary Mayor of South Central LA 😏 (All those in favor say Aye... The Aye's have it!) • Mayor Garcetti @mayorofla Thanks for the wisdom that was shared that day. #trade #investment #behumble #losangeles #ca #element #patbrowninstitute #publicaffairs • • P.S. Food for thought...: "We are the generation that must throw everything into the endeavor to remake America into WHAT WE SAY WE WANT IT TO BE." - (Research and read who wrote these words... think about it and then keep reading..) #believe As much truth as one can bear #nextlevel #nextfloor #tron #fbf #southcentralla #mayorofla #mayorofscla #pbiannualconference #tradepolicy #lasc @pat_brown_institute @lasccougars (at South Central LA, Los Angeles, California)

In my element. 🖊📖 • • Pat Brown Institute Annual Conference @pat_brown_institute @calstatela #tbt • • Pic. 1/10: Here I am, Raising questions on U.S. and China's Trade Relations in regards to China bringing in $195 Billion through our ports, but how does that play a part in our relationship with China owning $1.24 Trillion of U.S. Debt? As we discuss international trade how does our debt play a part in our international relationships, especially those like China? ... I'm just learning and asking questions. • • Pic. 2/10 & 3/10: Dr. Raphael Sonenshein, Moderator and Executive Director, Pat Brown Institute for Public Affairs at Cal State LA; myself, and my good friend, Miguel Samonte, and my brother in the Roosevelt Institute Fellowship and Student at Mt. When you have the privilege to know the daughters and family members of LASC's principal founder Odessa B. Cox, it humbles you. • • Los Angeles Southwest College Celebrates 50 Years on 09.30.17 #tbt Starting in the late 1940s, LASCs principal founder Odessa B. Cox and a dedicated group of community members were relentless in their push to have a community college in South Central Los Angeles. Money was finally earmarked in the mid-1960s after the most noted Watts Rebellion, to open LASC at the corner of Western Avenue and Imperial Highway. The ensuing years have seen tens of thousands of students empowered by the college to achieve their academic, personal and professional goals, and I was one of those students. There is rich history rooted in our community 🙌🏽. Learn it, own it and respect it. • • Myself, pictured with, my mentor and Interim President of LASC, Dr. Denise Noldon. • • Myself pictured with the great friends, family and faculty of Los Angeles Southwest Colleges' School of Career and Technical Education. • • #lasc50 #lasc #lasccollege #breakingbarriers #blackandbrown #southcentralla #buildingfutures #50thanniversarygala #millenniumbiltmore #history

She's got that sophisticated, street smart, spiritual, soulful, savage thing about her. #artsygirls #gatekeepers #rebelliving #wildflower #lovehard #nobounds Life is a beach, it comes in waves ... the bad and the good, low tides and high tides... Like the ocean, be fluid and flow with it.
