New To Art Tips

So art style can't be stolen, and if you're learning then it's good to use references and copy style (by copy I mean try to draw it as close as possible, but don't trace if you can help it)

Now with faces, I use celebrities because they are public, and then, digitally, I add line art on top of their faces, just to get an idea for shape and proportion. You could do this traditionally too.

A Giant Tip For Learning To Draw More Confidently (I'm not saying better because it's subjective) is to copy references. Sure credit the references but at the end of the day you put in the work. Another tip is to use a lot of references for one piece of art, because then it's going to be way more authentically yours.

The ability to mix references in your mind and then create a new thing based on that is a fantastic skill;

I'm always learning too, and something I learnt the other day is: Say you want to draw something and it's daunting, write a detailed description of the thing you want to draw, really break it down, than all the things you're not sure how to draw or what they look like, look them up on the internet find the reference that speaks to you(the one you like the most) and then do quick sketches just pencil, till you're more confident drawing that element, move down that list till you're happy and then find a pose you like, just draw a silhouette, or a few.

Composition may sound scary but for me it's just, where is my character's silhouette going on the canvas? what's behind them, at the side, In front of them?

For colours you could plan a palette or wing it, it's up to you. XD

The Great People of Yith

Hello Lovecraftians? lol, today I have art to show you, and a story;

The Yith are of course a great people, and they live for millennia and longer, because of this they don't have children very often, the art I have created today is of a Yith celebrating Their seedling, Their propagule baby. They are in a bamboo clearing and are so tall there is a cloud next to their 'head.' while researching the Yith I found that in this form their language is clicking their pincers and scratching their claw on their calcium/crystal cones. This makes recognizable sounds. Their also communicate telepathically with their 'head' tentacles. I added a dragonfly as a nod to limpets which I also had to research and they sometimes have symbiotic relationships with copepods, which got badly labeled as sea insects, so I thought is would be fun if my Yith had a dragonfly friend, so little dragonfly is resting on my Yith's babs.

My Honest Attempt

Hello, I'm attempting the draw all, or as many as possible, of the Cthulhu mythos creatures accurately based on the original written descriptions of them.

I am also going to be writing up family trees and semi-plausible scientific world-building lore also based on the original Cthulhu mythos Circle's writings.
