Wheelchair users use the word “walk” all the time when talking about how we get around! For a lot of people it feels like a natural part of speech and gets the point across fine. And I can’t believe I have to say this but it’s absolutely never ever ever an invitation to accuse (jokingly or not) someone of faking being disabled.

Context means that the following sentences all make sense about me:

I can’t walk, I can’t even weight bare.

I love going for walks!

The shops are in walking distance from my flat

I walk home from the station instead of calling a taxi!

All the wheelchair users I know will casually describe walking (or running) places in their chairs, and I’ve only met a couple of people who will regularly say “push” or “roll” or “drive” and usually only when making a point about using a chair.

And whatever you do don’t be like the smart arse station employee who “jokingly” said I must be like a TV character who famously pretends to be disabled because I said the station I was going to wasn’t far from my flat so I just walk home instead of getting a taxi.

reminder that cancer survivors and patients have the same rights to disability allowance and permits as anyone else

reminder that cancer survivors and patients feel fatigue, vomiting, pain and lethargy for years after they’ve been treated (not every symptom for everyone)

reminder that cancer survivors and patients sometimes NEED to use disability walking aids or wheel chairs to live their life

reminder that some cancer survivors have things removed (bones, muscles, limbs, etc~) and to be mindful of that

reminder that gatekeeping that you have it harder on a post about someone’s life altering fate and their struggles of almost dying isn’t cool, it’s sorta pathetic

reminder that every disabled person should stick together and laugh and whine and cry and be excited for tomorrow together! we’re a community, we should stick together and be positive

reminder that this is a post for awareness, not an attack on anyone else and their disabilities

Some of my posts are made to exclude low support needs and I’ll admit that. I can not cater to everyone, and sometimes my posts are directed at a certain group of people. My posts however, are always welcome to all to interact with.

Sometimes, things aren’t about you. Sometimes, things need to be about a certain group of people. Sometimes, medium and high support autistics DESERVE posts about them.

My account was made because I felt like I didn’t belong. Because in most spaces things weren’t centered or even included higher support needs. Blogs like mine are for everyone, however I do center my posts around higher support needs so they don’t feel alone anymore like I did.

transbian struggles

as a trans lesbian, i find that so many lesbians in bars and clubs and stuff will view you as a guy if you say you’re trans.

i get genital preference, it’s understandable if you can’t be attracted to that~ that’s fine. but viewing the person as a man just because you can’t be attracted to them? that’s just gross and transphobic!

if you identify as a gal you’re a real gal. doesn’t matter what’s beneath~

respect trans gals and respect the whole lesbian community, not just the cis end of it.

GUNS AREN’T PUNK.

if you think guns are punk or cool then you reallyyy need a wake up call~ yk the coolest punks in history? most of em didn’t even have to use violence to get their point across, and those who did went into the streets with what they had on em and thought for their life and their rights.

if you think guns are the answer to your problems when they bring so much death and misery to so many people then does that truly make ya any better than a pig?

violence isn’t sexy, sometimes we need it to survive but if not, it’s not cool or punk, it’s just pathetic.

if there's one thing i ask all parents to do, it's to teach their children about disability from an early age. i cannot leave my house without every child i come across staring at me and/or my mobility aid. as much as i understand children are curious, it's extremely humiliating to feel as though i'm an exhibition for able-bodied people to gawk at.

body neutrality is NOT, "so long as you're happy and healthy, your body is a good body". it's about getting rid of the idea of a "good body" at all. it's saying that your body is A BODY, and having a body is a neutral feature of all humans. it's saying that specific bodies shouldn't be focussed on more than others, because all bodies are bodies

when you say "so long as you're happy and healthy", you're not actually helping. because. unless you've put in the hard work of deconstructing what you think "happiness" and "healthiness" look like, I can guarantee "happy and healthy" is just going to loop back to ableism and fatphobia
