Okay so this is kind of important and I’m really flipping out over it but at the same time I feel like it isn’t serious enough to make a post about but here’s a warning post I guess

I’m posting this on here because this is my most popular blog. Please, please, reblog this, signal boost this, do something

So yesterday in my chorus class, my amazing chorus teacher sighed and told us to listen for a moment.

He went on to tell us that our small public high school was most likely going to cut the arts programs. Obviously, this is a thing that’s been happening everywhere over the last years. I honestly never thought it would happen at my school, though. We have an incredible marching band (I play trumpet in it), an amazing orchestra, and an insanely awesome musical every year.

In every grade there’s incredible talent in the arts.

There’s me: I want to go into art when I’m older.

And my friend: she has this beautiful voice and she wants to go to Broadway.

Then there’s so much more obvious talent, and our school is known for being incredible in the arts.

By cutting the arts programs they’re stopping a great deal of the students’ chances on getting into good colleges to do what they want to do since we won’t get educated in our passions.

But they’re cutting the arts programs for fucking STEAM programs that they spend thousands of dollars on.

Band was already pushed to the end of the school day

Chorus was pushed into my lunch period because the school didn’t care enough to make room for it

Orchestra was pushed into a study hall period

Musical is pushed to completely after school

Art is pushed to a study hall period

And they’ve been giving us less and less money for these programs to the point where students are bringing in money.

Not to mention that along with the arts at the high school, they’d also cut all feild trips, gym class at the elementary schools, and art and music at the elementry school.

This means that my band director, our student teacher, our orchestra director, our chorus teacher, our art teacher, all the people who work on the musical, the P.E. teacher, possibly the health teacher, the elementary school art teacher, the elementary school music teachers, the elementary school gym teacher would all get layed off.

I was unbelievably rattled and upset upon finding this out.

I’ve emailed and talked to my chorus teacher (who is one of my most trusted teachers), and he says that he’ll keep us updated on what we can do to help.

There will most likely be plenty of fundraisers and things to send money too.

I’ll keep this post updated with possible places to donate to, if you would be willing/are able to, even small amounts would be great.

I hope it’s okay with you guys, if not, I’ll delete this part immideatly, but I’m tagging some of the more popular blogs/some blogs that cane off the top of my head I know around the what blog and homestuck community so you guys can possibly spread this post around. Thank!
