Memento Mortalis Es

Here is my senior collection for my fashion design degree! The theme is Greek myths of hubris and the transformative punishments mortals faced.

The looks are:

Actaeon: a hunter who spied on Artemis bathing and was turned into a deer

Bellerophon: A hero who using a golden bridle tried flying to Olympus on Pegasus before Zeus sent a horsefly to knock him off.

Icarus: Flew too close to the sun with wax wings while trying to escape imprisonment, so he eventually fell into the sea and drowned.

Pasiphae: The Queen of Crete, when her husband refused to sacrifice a white bull, she was cursed to fall in lust with it. She commissioned a bull costume to wear and thus the Minotaur was born.

Arachne: A great weaver who was challenged by Athena, and when Arachne won she was beaten and later turned into a spider. Her skirt holds the myths of all of these stories.

I cannot stop thinking about how a slowed down version of It’s Raining Somewhere Else plays and it’s called The Place Where It Rained right before you run into Sans dancing on a date with Toriel, happy. This is the place where it rained, the happy place he remembers from when he took you to dinner in the resort. He protects Frisk because of a promise to Toriel, but which Toriel? Which Frisk? Why iS IT PLAYING?

Bard of the Future

This is my favorite thing I have designed ever! A full lined jacket and skirt combo made out of upholstery. The theme explores the traditional aspects of art like poetry having to combat and join a more modern sense of art. Heavily inspired by the works of Austin Dobson.
