Hi, sorry for the delay! I hope I’ll soon get back to whatever “normal“ was for me before I messed my head up with this latest round of Christmas stress.
I think the Audible app might be hard to get around, if you want to put it straight on your phone as it is. Otherwise you can download it on a computer, burn it onto an audio CD there (with itunes or Windows Media Player), and then make normal mp3 files from the CD.
Hope it works out either way - it’s quite a nice thing to have :)
OK tumblr - save me… how do I get the WTNV audio book without ordering the CD or going through iTunes?? I want to put it straight on my (Android) phone… in Canada. Suggestions?
Eta: paging @scruffy-spiderwolf - any ideas? Eta2: I may have to download audible I suppose. Just not much room on my phone for more apps. Which is another issue altogether.

Yep, I still have all those edited episodes! I’ll put the rest of them in that dropbox folder tomorrow (getting a bit sleepy now). I haven’t edited the newest  ones yet, because the audiobook solved my problem of being rudely woken up by the weather, but most of the old ones.
I’m relistening to night vale cause I stopped around episode 30 about two years ago and I need to refresh before I try to follow it again and wow I forgot how much I don’t like the music they play as the “weather”.
It’s really just NOT for me and I really, really do not like it and I can’t fall asleep to this podcast cause I always have to skip through the music cause it just really is not my thing at all and once I skip through one song, I know in about 20 min I’ll haven skip through another
So my question is
Is there anywhere I can download night vale without the terrible weather music?

Hey, I haven't seen you post in awhile. Hope you're doing okay!
Hi, I’m ok (but thanks for thinking of me :)!), except for some fricking epic Christmas shopping procrastination blues. I had computer trouble and got stuck in the mood that comes with that (it flawlessly fits into my usual pre-christmas panic). Soooo grouchy and antisocial. I’m starting to think I need to get it over with, even though we’re doing Christmas a little later this year :)

I’m the wrong person to answer that objectively (as I’m read-me-the-phone-book level trash when it comes to Cecil), but here’s an excerpt from the audiobook:
http://nightvale.libsyn.com/bonus-episode-5-welcome-to-night-vale-the-novel-chapter-1
...in case you haven’t heard it and it helps with deciding :)
I just finished reading the Welcome to Night Vale novel (ebook) and I was wondering is the audiobook worth listening to even though I’ve read it already?

Got bored in class and drew a Night Vale Fire Disapprover.
I would pay so much money for a Fire Disapprovers shirt.

Did you guys also do the music/talking for the Emissary in last night's Night Vale epsiode? I'm curious what the music was made up of? Recorders?
The basis of the sound is a type of Sri Lankan flute referred to as a Dagoba flute or temple flute. However as I don’t have the actual flute (and am not a flute player) I wrote and played the parts on a keyboard using a sample of the flute’s tone.
For the Emissary’s “lines”, I recorded all of the parts on three tracks at the same time. I then altered the pitch of these tracks so that they were a fifth apart, with the middle one being the loudest, and added additional reverb to the higher and lower tracks and also made them a bit more fragile by eq’ing them. Then once those parts were recorded I slightly altered the timing of the three tracks so that they were sometimes in sync, sometimes out of sync with each other, depending on what the Emissary needed to “say”.

I’m trying to avoid losing my tracked tags in the sidebar - they’re pretty integral to the way I use tumblr, and the last time I checked, they didn’t work in the new xkit...
Thanks so much for the tips though! :) I’ll probably end up having to switch at some point, so they’ll come in handy!

btw, if I’m failing to reblog any spectacular fanart that would be exactly my sort of thing, it’s probably because I’ve been getting a fuckton of this. So mysterious, tumblr.

I got to speak at my high school yesterday. I had always been so terrified to go back, scared that if I did I would somehow regress and become the insecure, unsure teen I was when I went there. I’m happy to report that didn’t happen, that I didn’t mystically become my former self like in some 90s TV movie. Instead I got to speak to some incredible high schoolers, who, like me, may one day go back to speak boldly in spaces where they once felt small and insignificant.
