I was asked about my process so: here are the steps of this painting from the minicomic I posted a few days ago! 3D Models are Cool and Fun and more people should use them. Blender is free, and everything I do to paint textures/paintovers can also be done in any other image editors. You get to model Little Guys and then paint over 'em.... Let me know if people would be interested in more behind-the-scenes/tutorial stuff!

The Lady of Shalott is an 1842 Arthurian poem about a lady who is cursed to remain confined within an isolated tower, weaving on her loom. She is forbidden to look out her window, and is only able to see the world through the shadows that appear in her magic mirror. One day, however, she turns away from her work. This poem was also turned into a song by Loreena McKennit.

It was such an honor to see your recent work(https://www.tumblr.com/secretmellowart/747776450984378368/some-thoughts-on-cosettes-fashion-i-think-its?source=share) as a fan of Cosette!
I really want to see Cosette in other dresses, like Cosette's Toddler dresses, that Little Mourning Gown that you mentioned in the post, Blue School Uniforms, Nightgowns when living in Rue Plumet, and her Bridal Dress, too.
Sadly, I'm not that sufficient with money(See my Badge Collection, there's no Badges can get by purchasing.) so I can not send you commission. :(
But still, if another commissioned work arrives could you please put Cosette in various dress on priority? I know it's very selfish ask, but we also want to see your Cosette in lots of Clothings so much...
maybe ill draw this eventually! I'm not taking commissions at the moment. (just going through some old asks haha.)

what drew you to the stained-glass style for your art? you're very good at it, and i love your mermay work!
Ahh thank you so very much! The secret Deep Lore of why I became obsessed with stained glass art: Early on for my fancomic adaptation of The Hobbit @retellingthehobbit, I came up with an idea that the art style would change depending on the perspective of the characters. Here's the Very First concept art I posted way back in 2019:

My "default" art style was much closer to "Bilbo's," and I wanted the dwarves' art style to feel like the opposite of his-- and to show that they came from a land that valued their own unique kind of art that was very different form his. So it needed to be clean instead of sketchy, geometric instead of organic, metallic/'stained glass' instead of hand-painted. It was initially a struggle, but as I researched artists who did similar stylized work (Cartoon Saloon studios, Jin Guo, actual old public domain stained glass designs, etc) I fell in love with it!

I love how anatomy and perspective are less important in this geometric art, because the emphasis is instead on Symbolism and Meaning. And I also love how stained glass-like art innately makes something feel like it's depicting an Important holy Semi-Mythical Narrative.

Long answer, but thank you for the ask!

My fancomic adaptation of Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus: page 1 and 2! (stay tuned for more, and follow my Sly Cooper blog @designraccoon!)
As fellow nostalgic Playstation kids know, Sly Cooper is the story of a master raccoon thief on a journey to save the world and avenge his family's murder--- aided by his "found family" Bentley the Turtle and Murray the Hippo, but thwarted(?) by the dogged Inspector Carmelita Fox.
One of my favorite things about the original games is how Sly has a very unhammy, "normal" voice performance. Rather than being a stereotypical Goofy PlayStation Mascot with A Huge Personality, he's a suave little guy who takes his wacky crime world very seriously. I love it. Anyway, I spent a lot of time fiddling with the facial expressions trying to capture that energy.

Reblogging for @barricadeday ‘s Derailed Day.

"Marius seems dead, to someone who is a good judge of the matter."
I've been obsessed with Jean Valjean and Javert's final encounter in the original novel for a while; Les Mis adaptations like the musical generally portray it as a tense shouting match, but in the book it's more quietly sad and melancholy. Javert helps Jean Valjean take Marius home and then leaves without a word. [prompted by @valvertweek]

“A National Guardsman who had taken aim at Enjolras lowered his gun, saying: ‘It seems to me that I am about to shoot a flower.’”
[Enjolras], like Harmodius, thought flowers good for nothing except to conceal the sword.”

“He is a man who does good by gunshots.”
The description of Jean Valjean’s marksmanship as “the shot which misses nothing and kills no one” has always stuck out to me as a metaphor for his character as a whole. He’s highly skilled at violence, but chooses to use his skills for pacifism instead. He fires a gun expertly,—but only to hit off soldier’s helmets or knock down furniture for the barricade, and never to kill. It’s similar to how he uses his ‘frightening’ convict strength to save Fauchelevent from under the cart. He’s very “Iron Giant”-like in the sense that he’s been ‘built’ for violence and is in a system that repeatedly tries to force him to be violent, but is determined to remain peaceful at any cost to himself; it’s about all the great “terrifying” power being used only for gentle pacifistic reasons….
