what made you want to be an artist?
I don't think I'd be able to list all of them/all of my inspirations off the top of my head, tbh. But, I can list a few:
One of the biggest was a small collection of Youtubers. Youtube put the idea into perspective for me first, since I knew Youtubers were basically just people, rather than big companies.
Soproxi
Arcadefox
Bluekyokitty
Neytirix
Corvus Katana
GinjaninjaOWO
Riverspirit
Paintedserenity
Thunderkathryn
Urnam7
Emala Jiss
Popcross studios
Moose-on-ice
Scribble Netty
Among others + Random other animations/artists
But in regards to non-social media, such as movies and stuff, I also obviously have some of those that inspired me, as well:
Teen Titans (The OG show.)
Thundercats (1985)
Ultimate Spiderman (The series)
MLP: FIM
A Monster in Paris
Pokemon movies (The first movie, Rise of Darkrai, Pkmn 3 Movie, Lucario and the mystery of mew, etc.)
Multiple Disney (Treasure planet, The lion king, Atlantis, etc.) /Dreamworks movies (The road to El Dorado, Spirit, etc.)
Invader Zim
Samurai Jack
Among others, as well.
But, yeah. Those are the things that really made me want to start doing art and story telling.

my dad–also a writer–came to visit, and i mentioned that the best thing to come out of the layoff is that i’m writing again. he asked what i was writing about, and i said what i always do: “oh, just fanfic,” which is code for “let’s not look at this too deeply because i’m basically just making action figures kiss in text form” and “this awkward follow-up question is exactly why i don’t call myself a writer in public.”
he said, “you have to stop doing that.”
“i know, i know,” because it’s even more embarrassing to be embarrassed about writing fanfic, considering how many posts i’ve reblogged in its defense.
but i misunderstood his original question: “fanfic is just the genre. i asked what you’re writing about.”
i did the conversational equivalent of a spinning wheel cursor for at least a minute. i started peeling back the setting and the characters, the fic challenge and the specific episode the story jumps off from, and it was one of those slow-dawning light bulb moments. “i’m writing about loneliness, and who we are in the absence of purpose.”
as, i imagine, are a lot of people right now, who probably also don’t realize they’re writing an existential diary in the guise of getting television characters to fuck.
“that’s what you’re writing. the rest is just how you get there, and how you get it out into the world. was richard iii really about richard the third? would shakespeare have gotten as many people to see it if it wasn’t a story they knew?”
so, my friends: what are you writing about?

Tumblr media
This guy came to me in a dream, so I made him into an actual character.
His name is ‘Freddy J. Thatcher’, a slasher who uses a chargeable circular saw. He was born in a rural country town that secretly kidnapped tourists and visitors, using them as livestock and selling their meat and other products. (Masquerading those products as pig meat, since human meat tastes similar.)
He eats the flesh off the tips of his fingers, never takes off his mask; even when he’s alone, and has basically trained himself to block off his emotions; that way he won’t feel as guilty for killing innocent town visitors.
In the dream, I got kidnapped and almost killed, escaped and got the town raided. When the police got there, though, the townspeople had all committed suicide, but not before killing most of the remaining ‘livestock’ beforehand. Freddy was the only ‘townie’ survivor, since the bullet got lodged in his upper jaw and didn’t actually make it to his brain.
Obviously, he’s similar to Bubba Sawyer from Texas Chainsaw Massacre, so I might end up changing a few things to make him more unique, but that was how he was in the dream. lol (That black stuff, by the way, is his hair. Mans has really long black hair.) There were also a few other characters in that dream that I liked, but this guy is the only ‘killer’ character from it. (Well, other than someone named ‘Henry Hogskin’, but he died, so-.)

DHMIS - My theory?
Recently I watched a video entitled: ‘We Were Wrong About Don't Hug Me I'm Scared’. In this video, the guy disproves the ‘media commentary’ theory, and proposes his own. However, I found some problems with said theory and came up with my own. In his theory, he says that ‘Roy’ the father of the series, is a construct from red guy, as is almost everything else in the series. Roy is a friendly force that is meant to help red guy grow up. HOWEVER, this does not explain a lot of things revolving around Roy in the series. Such as the infamous ‘punish land’ statement in one of the ‘interviews’. So, Here’s my theory: What if, Red guy, yellow guy, and Roy are all real characters, but Duck isn’t? Notice how he was effected by the machine in the ‘final episode’, along with all the fake teacher characters, implying that he’s not real. Roy appearing in the crowd doesn’t make sense as being nothing but a hallucination, so what if he was actually there with red guy?
Enough with all the build up: Red guy and Yellow guy are brothers under their abusive single father Roy. This would explain a lot. It would explain the collage cap on red guy’s bed in the final episode, and the flash of red guy at work.
Red guy and Yellow guy were abused, possibly verbally and physically by Roy, as a result, red guy was forced to grow up way too fast and yellow guy is either stunted in mental growth, or is actually really young as the series implies.
Red guy stuck around with yellow guy, playing with his toys and imaginary friend ‘Duck’, as well as filling the role of adult in his life where his father should’ve. However, Red guy eventually goes to collage and realizes that Roy is an insufferable abuser, possibly a narcissistic parent, and tries to get help for his brother. (Or nephew, I have another version in mind where red guy is Roy’s brother, not his son, but red guy being his son makes more sense to me.)
Red guy grew up way too fast as a result of the poor parenting, which explains why he finds most of yellow’s fun boring, and why he, though trying to act mature, also plays with hand puppets and sings the creativity song on stage, he didn’t have a real childhood, thus, he didn’t have the opportunity to enjoy things like that when he was little.
Thus, the love episode in particular. Unlike what some people say, though religion may play a role in it, it isn’t the main focus. If my theory is correct, this could actually be implying the abuse tactics of Roy.
Think about it: ‘Don’t you love me’ is a manipulation tactic a lot of parents use against their children, along with the idea of ‘idolizing’ someone who will give you love, like your parents. Children idolize their parents, and think they’re perfect superheros. it’s only after people grow up that they realize their parents are just people, with their own problems and negative points.
Not just that, but if religion is really that important to the episode, that makes this theory stronger: Parents often use religion to manipulate their children as well. And sometimes groom their children into thinking that their religion is the only one they should ever follow. This should be known to anyone part of the lgbt who has overly-christian parents. And what do you know? They mention that straight marriage is ‘perfect’ and ‘pure’ and ‘protected with a ring’.
Red guy is a depressed late teen-early twenties guy with an abusive father who’s little brother is still forced to live with said abusive father. Roy tries to get Red guy and Yellow guy, his sons, to play along with his abuse, until red guy goes off and gets a job, goes to collage, and after going to a bar with his father, realizes what’s been happening. Meanwhile, Yellow guy is oblivious to the whole thing.
The ‘mind blow’ could be his realizing that he has a chance to leave, going out a door, from the big budget set, to a low budget one, perhaps symbolizing going from his father’s house and moving into a smaller apartment/collage dorm?
The patreon video could be symbolism as well, notice how yellow thinks their in his father’s house? Symbolism for being trapped under your parents roof. The guy screaming ‘money’ into the phone could be a tax collector/police officer, who’s seen as a beast for going against their father/perhaps threatening to call cps? It’s fun to speculate, but this is just an idea. I know there might be flaws with it, but whatever lol. Hope you guys found this theory compelling at least.
