Perhaps, promise of doing something or atleast making more noise in the human world about the ill treatment that the wildlings suffer in our hands! Continuing from yesterday's post here's the finished coloured version of the art work dedicated to the endangered bird species, Great Indian Bustard; which missed the spot for being our national bird. With less than 120 or so birds left across 3 states, this is a tragic tale of humans' greed for more, poor planning and inconsiderate behaviour towards the nature and its beautiful creatures. Once a hugely hunted game-bird, government and associated bodies tried to save this species twice, once in 1970s and again in 1981 by establishing Great Indian Bird Sanctuary in Nannaj, Maharashtra and Ghatigoon Bustard Sanctuary in Madhya Pradesh. Both instances led to severe killing of these birds instead of protection, as localites feared losing their land. One of the largest birds to be able to fly; just the images and videos on the internet gives me pain thinking that their majestic walk of a kind will be lost forever. Hence, this small effort to introduce a story that has been written and rewritten yet may be unknown to many, like me. Our mother nature is watching us silently, she will not forgive us for killing her innocent and most beautiful beings.
