My Teenage Life - January 30, 2025 (on Wattpad) https://www.wattpad.com/1514508702-my-teenage-life-january-30-2025?utm_source=web&utm_medium=tumblr&utm_content=share_reading&wp_uname=menodorastar This story is quite depressing. It'll be like one of my very own venting story, about my teenage life, almost like a diary. It's pathetic I'm writing this so others can read, for some fame, but I hope some are inspired to do the same as I am now.

The Cursed Girl of the Sea.
It is a frigid day by the seashore, in the city of Argos, Greece. The ocean was beautiful, steady, and still as always. It was around noon and kids were playing and so were the nymphs. The sea nymphs were playing with Nephele, the cloud nymph in the distance. By the seashore was a poor peasant girl, angry, jealous, and lonely. Nobody would look at her like a person, just trash. She had no parents or siblings to share her feelings and support her. Her name was Alethea, but barely anyone knew her by that name. When she was a baby, she was left by the ocean. Her young years were lively, with a kind woman taking care of her. They were not necessarily rich, but they had each other and usually walked to the ocean to find seashells and watch nymphs play. Yet, that woman has sadly passed in Alethea’s early teenage years, and so did their cat. Then she was called The Curse Girl of the Sea. Everyone that lived near her in Argos avoided her, thinking whoever goes near her long enough will die. Alethea was jealous. Jealous of the freedom of the nymphs, their beautiful faces, and clothes. She looks at her reflection. She was not ugly, but she was not pretty. Yet the ragged clothes on her and dry messy hair made her look unpleasant to some eyes. She threw sand all over the place, fuming with all the humans' disgusting emotions. She wanted to cry, but all her tears were used up, and she could no longer cry like normal mortals.
She looked at her reflection once again. Then she noticed a beautiful horse coming towards her from a distance...but from the water. She looked more closely and saw it had no back legs, but a long, glossy fish-like tail. She walked further into the water...wanting to see the creature more closely. It was a beautiful, pale blue hippocampus. The hippocampus saw her upset, so the hippocampus rested his head on her shoulder to comfort her. Alethea looked at the creature and for a moment it felt like Alethea’s worries and bad emotions disappeared. Then, she looked more closely at the beautiful creature. She was jealous. Again. Then she thought the creature was purposely trying to make her jealous. She was aggravated. So, she covered the creatures' gills firmly so the poor hippocampus could not breathe. The hippocampus whined, and cried in pain, then soon closed its eyes, stopped resisting, and dropped in the water, stomach up. Alethea was then overwhelmed with guilt. The water suddenly turned colder than it should be, then her ears boomed a cold, cruel and prideful voice.
“I see you have killed my horse, you peasant. Do you think you have any right to even touch my servant? I, Poseidon will take your soul in two days, at the exact time, exact spot. I am being rather kind to you, for giving you time to say ‘goodbye’ to your mortal friends and family...If only you had any.” The god laughed, and soon the laugh faded as the sea grew warmer, back to the normal temperature.
Alethea was terrified. Yes, she did want to die, she did want to end this life of pain. Yet, deep down, she still had that small teenage hope where she wanted to live in her heart. Live the adventures, have fun, and enjoy life. Now, she cannot enjoy those emotions and her life will end before she can experience love. She then looked at the hippocampus. She then stroked its face, and kissed its head, apologizing repetitively, but it was not out of fear, or mercy from Poseidon. It was out of guilt and sorrow with sincere apology. She killed the creature that gave her care and an act of affection. She was blinded by all the emotions and reactions of people when they looked at her. She then walked out of the water carrying the hippocampus, then buried it with care. She found an elegant pale blue shell matching the hippocampus’s skin and scales. She kissed the seashell and placed it on top of the sand. She searched for items more offering and worth the creature's pure heart. She then found a small white but pretty rock,
which shined metallically in the sunlight. She brought it to her chest and kissed it. She then placed it next to the seashell and stared. Just staring. This was it, she thought. Just two more days of misery and her life would end. She breathed in and sighed an exhausted sigh.
Alethea then walked away from the seashore. She headed to the woods where she could not be seen and found. On her way the townspeople gave her dirty looks and some even threw rocks at her. Her arms were bruised already, so she did not even react. She was used to this behavior, and the kids thought she was a walking ghost. She looked down, and walked, her face was nonchalant. Then one rock hit right against her head. She turned to look at the direction it was thrown, and a young teenage male, laughing with his other guy friends.
“Why are you even alive? You look so dead! Go die already! You should go back to your old hag-!” The boys hollered, as they were laughing. Alethea's head started to bleed, and her boney figure started to fade deep into the woods, her blood trailing behind her.
“Maybe I should.” She looked behind her, to turn her head to the boys, and she had a soft relieved smile. The boys for one split second felt sympathy for her but then looked at her like she was a freak. They just threw rocks at her, until she was too far away into the woods. Alethea then sat under a tree, looking up in the sky, the sky slowly getting darker. Then she heard things from deeper in the woods, ahead of her. She could not make out what it was due to the darkness of the woods. She was curious, and she had nothing to lose anyway. She slowly walked towards the sound, which became louder and louder by the second. To her surprise she saw a sphinx who seemed to be under a tree...?
“Fu-” before the sphinx could say that word, the seemed to change her attitude in a blink of an eye. Her childish and annoyed behavior turned into a calm and more collected face. The sphinx seemed so wise and nonchalant, but she stayed in that awkward angle for a few seconds and quickly kicked the tree up.
“If you will not tell anyone about this... ‘incident’ I shall give you an answer to whatever you seem so...concerned about.” The beautiful head said, as the lion body sat in a polite manner. The sphinx was quick in noticing the girl's facial expression. Alethea’s jaw was dropped. The sphinx looked and acted exactly as it was rumored. Sharp, intelligent, unbothered with a hint of danger, despite the crack in that facade a moment ago. Then as though she snapped back.
“Huh?” Alethea blurted out. “Can you say that again?” Alethea was still shocked but collected herself. The sphinx sighed. “You humans better get used to shi- things like this. There are more of my species than you assume. So, I shall say again. You do not talk out my sighting and incident to any other humans, nymphs, gods, or animal. Then I shall answer one question that you seem very bothered about. It seems as though you do not have anyone to vent to so I will be available for you.” The sphinx was not doing this out of kindness, but a matter of pride, and how she thinks her ego would be affected if anyone heard about her getting trapped under the tree. Prideful creatures they are. Yet, Alethea decided to take up that offer. To maybe, somehow find a way to escape the fate of her life being taken in a couple of days.
“So, if I ask how to try to beg a god out of killing me will you answer...?” Alethea inquired. The creature was slightly taken aback but regained her composure within seconds. “What a different question...well, Gods like the sound of begging. I have never encountered a God or Goddess, so this may not be the answer you wish to have, but you must look more pathetic, beg, and try to make the god or goddess feel sympathetic for you. But again, I do not guarantee this will work.” The sphinx explained, pridefully. Yet, she was refraining from adding snarky comments. ‘What imbeciles, humans are...’ The sphinx thought, looking at the girl, judgingly. Alethea’s face lit up, and her heart beat against her rib cage quickly. She felt the happiest in the three years she was just a full shell of sadness.
“Thank you! I will not tell a single living soul! Not even an empty soul!” Alethea responded, overjoyed. She then gleefully walked to the other side of the woods, messed up her hair more, and ripped off some parts of her clothes. She looked quite...pathetic, but she did not care! Nothing can stop her. This one chance, she would take. There is one problem though. She cannot cry. She needed to cry for this act! She was thinking hard on what to use for her to cry. She could not talk to the sphinx, because those creatures are known to be dangerous, wise, and prideful, so she may have a chance that she will be eaten alive. She then remembered that she would be surrounded by sea water, while Poseidon would ‘take her soul.’ So, she just must fall into the water, acting all sad and helpless, so the water on her face can look like tears. Thats it! She was absolutely sure that this would work, but she forgot the fact that gods are rather ruthless and did not have the word ‘mercy’ in their dictionary. How...stupid.
A not so soon forty-eight hours have passed since she killed the beautiful, pure creature. The sea was almost identical from the day before yesterday, a still, handsome, blue field of saltwater. The curse girl had been endearing the dirty, more disgusted face by the townspeople. Since she looked much more dirty, poor, and pathetic than before, the townspeople gave her more filthy looks than usual. Many times, over the course of the two days she thought ‘why do I do this? Why not just...die?’ Or ‘Why not just end this misery?’ She simply could not stop herself from trying to live. The only thing that was blocking this idea was she thought maybe she could start over. She can dress better, get a job, wash herself and look beautiful. Hope is a very dangerous and pretty thing. In this case it is extremely sad. Soon, all her hopeful dreams shall shatter. She walked to the ocean, the exact spot, exact time, and it felt the same. The same cold, lonely, field of blue. She pretended to be terrified, and she looked quite...disgusting to say the least. The gods voice boomed in Alethea's ears.
“Terrified I see...Now tell me peasant, how does it feel...to be humiliated like this? Death is something I can never understand...perhaps say ‘hi’ to my brother in the burning land of the underworld...It is hard to visit him you see...” Alethea heard the man of the seas chuckle maliciously.
“P-Please...I-I w-was ju-just so...sad...p-please...-!” Alethea answered dramatically. She was telling the truth, but she was stuttering on purpose. She fell to her knees and put a little ocean water on her face to mimic tears.
“Do you think you can fake tears with MY domain?! MY palace? HOW DARE YOU EVEN TOUCH MY WATER WITH YOUR FILTHY FACE?” The God responded with an angry voice. The water grew colder, and Alethea got goosebumps, coming up her arms and quickly got up.
“I-I’m sorry...” She responded but she decided to push her luck...
“I have a husband, and children...! Please don’t...Please let me live this beautiful life...?” Alethea squeaked.
“I thought you were sad...I thought? Do you think you even have the right to even lie to me? I was watching you...I watched every island near the water...and there was no child or spouse that you even encountered...” Poseidon's glare was so cold you felt it in the water. Alethea paled. She was speechless and bit her tongue.
“No comment? Well...since you’re such a filthy, ugly being I shall cleanse you...” The water pulled Alethea in the water, and soon Alethea ran out of air, but she did not seem to die...She was drowning, but not closing her eyes. It pained, it hurt so much. She was suffocating, and she could not breathe, and she could not die.
She yelled, so hard that the waves started to move, she sunk to the bottom, yelling, and yelling. Now she did not have to worry about the tears and begging, she had the water. Cold, scary, alone, painful, and now dangerous. The waves were crashing against the seashore, the Nymphs and children running away from the danger. The waves were moving with the sound of her yelling. She became immortal as a punishment of lying, to the God of the Seas. Drowning in the waves of the water for eternity. It was cold, dark, painful, and somber. This was the story of the poor girl Alethea, who created these dangerous ocean waves, which dragged many people to their doom, while she could not. This poor girl who was called the Curse Girl of the Sea, now, is the Cursed Girl of the Sea.
