i feel like percy's fatal flaw isn't the presence of personal loyalty, rather the absence of it.

like how in HoH, he's controlling akhlys' poisonn (ik this has been mentioned a million times), and the only thing stopping him was annabeth.

imagine what would've happened if annabeth wasn't there. imagine what would happen if annabeth was dead, and percy loses it.

imagine how he would devastate the entire mythological world if there was nothing holding him back.

out of the blue?

She has feelings, she has dreams.

She is bound by ropes.

Who can hear her screams?

If they can, will they aid?

Or will they walk away,

Feeling too afraid?

One day, someone comes

And sees her situation.

They stop, they don’t run.

She sobs in relief, her tears taste like salt

But the person simply stands there

And says “It’s all your fault.”

She’s shocked, she wants to explain

But there’s a smile over her mouth

Muffling her pain.

“You’re right,” she says. “I’m okay.”

She’ll just walk away,

Wish it never happened, and go about her day.

But her arms are tied,

She’s a prisoner of her head,

There is blood pouring down her side.

And when she’s just too tired,

When she’s gone and through,

People will whisper and say

“Wasn’t it so out of the blue?”
