Basically this doesn't make any sense logically but its a tiktok thing and i wanted to write about it

One day, you’re just chillin

And all of a sudden, you hear quiet music in the back of your mind 

Like it wasn’t playing out loud like you originally thought, but rather playing inside your head

Confused, you turn to the internet for answers

A quick google search later, you find out its a type of soulmate link

The link allows you to hear what song they’re listening to

And whoever they were, definitely had good taste

It didn’t sound familiar, but it slapped

You couldn’t hear it well, but you did pick up a few lyrics

So you wrote them down immediately, determined to find said song

Because it slapped

You were jamming along, when it suddenly stopped

With a shrug, you decide to go along with the rest of your day

He taps your shoulder

“Hey.” he says

“Hi.” you reply, “Can i help you?”

“Yeah, actually. What is that you’re humming?”

You look down at your feet with a sheepish smile. 

“I actually dont know.”

He gives you a weird look, but shrugs.“It’s a good melody, I like it.”

“Same here! I think my soulmate played it, thats the only reason why i know. Do you happen to know the song???”

He grins at you

And breaks out into a laugh

- this song is about being in a slump, being stuck in a constant cycle of life with no purpose, and the realities of growing up. The lyrics “What was the most important task? I wanted to do so many things, but I kept being chased by time. There are so many things in this world, but there wasn't a space around for me to rest without worrying” fit the slumpy repetitive feeling well.

- This year I lost a lot of friends, and honestly even though I thought I was happy to be alone more, it just made me feel so lonely. High school is full of tight knit groups and cliques and sometimes it just feels impossible to fit in. It was my fault I fell out with my friend group and while I never really felt like I belonged, part of me wishes I sucked it up and stuck around for the sole purpose of not being lonely. Even if I was never truly there or apart of anything, the romanticized feeling of being apart of a friend group you’ve been in for a long time still is there and makes me wish I still had that, despite how toxic it was.

- When I was younger I thought my high school summers would be packed with fun activities and happiness but I feel like the older I got, the more miserable my summers were. Without the structure of school, I feel too unproductive to be happy with my days, even if I spent it hanging out with people or doing something productive. My summers aren’t necessarily boring or lonely physically, but more lonely mentally. Like that feeling when you’re surrounded by a ton of people but you feel the most lonely then because you don’t really fit in. During the school year, I make summer look so perfect and wonderful but in reality they’re kind of just repetitive and depressing now.

About now: Day6

- when I did have a large group of friends, a lot of them would usually hang out without me. Most of the time, I’m left alone, and like the lyrics in this song, I sometimes think about what they’re doing without me. Are they having fun? Is it the same without me or do they miss my presence? Would they be as happy if I were there? This reminds me of one of the last sleepovers I ended up going to, around Halloween last year. I was listening to this song and someone pointed out that I was still there, and said they forgot I was even there in the first place because I was being so quiet. This song reminds me of the way their friendship floats so naturally without me.

Online Love: Conan Gray

- my best friend, and one of the few friends I still have, lives in Ohio. This song reminds me of her, and I tend to daydream about what life would be like with her close by. Would we both be happier if we were a couple minutes apart instead of a couple of hours? It also reminds me of how disconnected I can be to my surroundings, and how most of my social life is only on my phone.

- this song reminds me of my fantasies about having a significant other or an active love life. Despite my bad experiences with dating, I still tend to believe my life would be better if I had a boyfriend. That having one would instantly make my life so much better and I’d actually be happy. Of course, that isn’t the case and unfortunately I had to learn that the hard way but now I don’t complain about it as much as I used to. Overall, relationships in my head and in books are definitely 100000000x better than real life ones when your mental health is still unstable

19: Stray Kids

- I have about a year left until I’m officially done with grade school. This song reminds me of the transition between sophomore year and this one, my junior year. Last year, time moved so slowly, there was less to stress over, and it still felt like I was just a kid. This year, the flip switched. It felt like when you step on the gas while driving and you go from 5 miles to 150 miles an hour (I’ve never actually done that though LMAO 60 is already a little too fast for me tbh) all of a sudden adulthood was closer than my childhood and I was being thrust into the real world. I never really took the time to enjoy my childhood while I could and now that it’s almost over I regret forcing myself to grow up early.

Likey: Twice

- the lyrics of this song are definitely darker than the sound. About the visual expectations for girls, it reminds me of the look of growing up. When I was younger and still now, I loved aesthetics and fashion and makeup. Only now, that love is bittersweet. You’re judged so harshly for your appearance the older you get. If you want to dress up, someone always assumes it’s to impress a boy and tells you to not wear fancy clothes because it makes you a tryhard. If you wear something comfortable, you’re not putting in enough effort to be pretty. Wearing makeup makes you fake and makes your face look cakey, but without it your eye bags make you look sick and like you don’t care about your impression on others. All hidden by a cheery tone, it reminds me of the struggle between feeling pretty and not conforming to society’s standards for beauty.

It’s Ok to Cry: Sarcastic Sounds

- A lot of the time, I keep my feelings in and let them stir around so much that I cause myself so much anxiety and stress that I can’t function. Sometimes I have to remind myself that it’s okay to let it out and tell someone how I feel, even if they don’t really take what I’m saying seriously or understand. What really matters is that I get it off my chest and cry it out. It’s better to release that small amount of stress or anxiety right away than to let it build up until I break.

This playlist is a little short compared to some of my other ones, but honestly I haven’t been feeling great lately and needed to vent. I cried for the first time in months while making this and it felt really nice. I hope you enjoy the songs and my commentary :)))
