Valentines day chocolates from Murasaki Makiri Tieguanyin served with spiced chocolate orangettes "I know you've never been a fan of sweets so I decided to add a bit of cayenne to the chocolate parts for a nice kick. Kakucho kept saying I added too much so we ended up compromising."

A wonderful commission I had done by @snippity! They were great to work with!! Design notes below:

Murasaki brewed the tea herself and the teacup and saucer are ones she gave to Izana for his birthday.

Murasaki usually makes her valentines day chocolates at Kakucho's house since she wants to surprise Izana. She usually makes Kakucho the taste tester and tells him that this is his valentines. Though she also makes sure to give him some of the final product as well. Murasaki also hand picks the tea each year and makes Kakucho help her taste test those as well.

The tea being used is named after Guanyin a character who stars in "Journey to the West" which Tenjiku is based off of. A short summary of her role is that Guanyin is a Bodhisattva who helps tang sanzang and his group on their journey. A role I feel fits Murasaki well.

As for the chocolates themselves, I was inspired by this FGO illustration. The yin-yang chocolates fitting well into Tenjiku's theme. Before I settled on the orangettes I briefly considered panda cookies, but after doing some research on tea parings I decided on the candied fruits.

As for the tea, I considered different flavors as well. Some of them include: lapsang souchon, pu'er, and flowering teas. I knew I wanted a Chinese tea to go with the overall theme of Tenjiku. Though I also considered a Darjeeling tea for a bit. But I settled on Tieguyanyin after finding out the origin behind its name.

The chilis featured are birds eyes and Murasaki decided to add them last minute. Or perhaps those are chocolate as well. Who knows.

As for the cup and saucer, the three butterflies are supposed to symbolize Izana, Kakucho, and Murasaki respectively. The leading butterfly being Izana while the other two behind it are Kakucho and Murasaki. Meanwhile the flowers are paulownia flowers from the Hanafuda deck.

The butterflies on the tea cup are Chinese peacock butterflies specifically. A reference to both Kakucho and Izana's motifs.

Since Murasaki was born in December I thought it would fit that she be represented by that card suit. (source)
