“Go away, Mammon,”

Your voice sounds muffled through the door, but Mammon is perfectly capable of hearing you still. He leans against the door, resting his head against the wood as he holds back an unsatisfied whine. “Let me in, please,” he says, and his heart sinks to his stomach when he hears your small sniffles through the door. He mutters your name softly and knocks six times in the special code you use to recognize each other whenever you’re staging heists.

He hears you shuffle on the other side and nearly falls when you open the door before he catches himself in the doorframe. Your eyes and nose are red, and he can still see a wet trail of tears down your cheeks. “What's going on, treasure?” he asks, his voice soft as he guides you to your bed, using his foot to shut the door behind him. He sits you down on your sheets as you wipe your nose with the back of your hand and let out a small sniff.

“Everything is shit,” you say as Mammon stands in front of you, running his hand through your hair and pulling it out of your eyes. You look up at him through wet lashes as his hands settle on your cheeks, cupping your face.

“I want to go home, Mammon,” you say and grab his wrists. Mammon frowns as he looks down on you before getting on his knees so he’s on eye level with you. “I feel so small here. I love you guys, but no one here knows what it’s like,” you say, and Mammon feels his heart tighten as he looks at you. You’re looking everywhere but at him, your eyes darting around before settling on your hands, which have moved to your lap. “Solomon barely even remembers what being human is like.” Tears begin running down your cheeks again, and Mammon wipes them, his frown deepening.

“Treasure,” he says, feeling much out of bounds. It somehow never occurred to him how you might feel. How lonely it might be. He feels incredibly foolish in hindsight.

“Everything is so foreign here. I feel so out of place,” you whisper, and Mammon puts his forehead against yours, making your noses brush. His hands move to your own in your lap, and he intertwines his fingers with yours.

You take a deep breath, and an involuntary sigh leaves you. “I want to go home,” you say, and Mammon thinks he feels his heart break into a million pieces. He wants to tell you that you are home, that he needs you here, that he’ll do anything for you. You’re his human, his perfect treasure.

Yet he says none of those things. He just pulls you into a hug and wraps his arms around you, feeling the way your tears wet his shirt.

“I’m sorry, treasure.”

So I've been sitting on whether to answer this or not for near a solid month now... but fuck it

Lemme ask you what other reason do I need to have made Malik black other than you know... Black folks exist? In varied and diverse settings and backgrounds?

Could you maybe look at it as me using my privilege's that comes with being a white creator to promote and normalize having POC/Non-white characters in leading/prominent roles in a story? Yes. In fact I hope you do, I hope in encourages more white creators to do so

Having a diverse cast whether it be for race, sexuality, gender identity, etc. does not make you 'woke'... it makes you realistic... these folks exist and they deserve representation, not everyone is a cis, white, straight person and for you to think anything that diverts from that is trying woke or performative only shows your own bigotry

Not to mention, you're using woke wrong, acting like its an insult when it stems from black people using it to tell each other to stay vigilant and careful about the people around them, that's been taken and misappropriated by acting like it's an insult when they felt insulted at the "insinuation" they're not safe to be around, proving the point of the word

Thinking about what would happen if MC started to play this little joke with Mammon. They would ask, "Grimm for a kiss?" And he would sprint over and kiss them, taking the money out of their hand at the same time.

An adorable little inside joke that started off innocently between the two of them.

But now he can't look at money without suddenly thinking of the feeling of their lips against his. He can't pay for anything without immediately thinking of them, of where they are, and if he should get them a matching pair of what he's getting.

Anytime he passes a coin on the streets, he pauses. He used to pick them up and call himself one lucky demon. But nowadays, he almost passes them by, instantly brought to memories of his beloved human and feeling that he would only be luckier if they were by his side at that very moment.

For every transaction he makes, he subconsciously tallies it down in his brain, making sure he gets what he's owed when he's with MC again, completely forgetting the fact that it started out with them owing HIM. But does it even matter anymore?

Solomon: MC, in front of you are two statues. One is the head of a demon, the other is the head of an angel.

MC: What is this? Some sort of outdated test? To see if I'm good or evil?

Solomon: No nothing that black and white. More like a lawful vs chaotic type situation I guess. It's a silly test Levi found on the internet.

MC: Alright what do I have to do?

Solomon: Kiss one of the heads - the one who's path you'd like to follow.

Diavolo: Surely MC would be more comfortable walking the path of demons having spent so much time here

Simeon: Or they could want to explore a new path with me and Luke, we'd be glad to have them.

Solomon: *standing in the middle waiting for you*

MC: *walks past both of the statues and reaches up to kiss Solomon* This counts as choosing the human path, yes?

Solomon: *blushes* Y-yes...

Levi: MC chose the secret third option first try??!
