Driving past my father's house, you'd never know that we used to roller blade down Aunt Margaret's ramp next door, that we hung Christmas lights on those bushes for years, that there used to be a giant tree in the front yard where our kitty Princess got stuck for 3 days once, that Carmel & Vince always had a kind word for us kids, that Pepe and Duke used to keep Popsicles handy for visitors, that Mrs. Perkins used to take us to the museum. The ppl who live here now will never the know the community we had. I pray those memories live on in others' lives too. Miss you all.

I became a mother without ever really having one. Mother-figures and surrogate families always ask you to go home when they're done entertaining. How to create a safe place when you never had a place to drop your own guard? People pleasing comes from knowing that if you weren't the pleasant kid you would be excluded. I am very much doing my best and horrifically afraid it's not good enough.

If anything, I'd like to be a white man in my next life. Imagine: Come home, dinners made. I watch football. I watch my wife struggle with work/life balance. We have 3 kids. I take responsibility for none of it. Perhaps I'll buy more GI Joes this weekend despite taking a pay cut at work. No plans for Christmas in my head. No worries. Life is good.

This struggle with food, the love-hate, need-dont-need, is never ending. Exhausting. Tired of feeling unworthy and empty all the time. Just tired.
