The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima is one of my fave YA high fantasy series, lots of magic and adventure, and the sequel series has dragons, too.

Someone else recommended Graceling by Kristen Cashore, which is also a really good YA fantasy series where each book focuses on a different main female character with unique abilities.

Eragon by Christopher Paolini is one of the most fleshed-out fantasy worlds I’ve ever read and the characters are strong and memorable, especially the dragon’s personality.

It’s not YA but one of my favourite fantasy series is The Palace Job by Patrick Weekes. The first book mostly takes place in a floating magic city and the main characters plan a heist on a corrupt government official’s mansion there. The characters are really fun and different!

One thing I want to do in August is read more books, so recommend your favorites to me. I like any genre except horror, though YA fantasy (vampires, werewolves, wizards, adventures, etc) is my favorite.

(I greatly enjoyed Howl's Moving Castle in my recent re-read; she's an ISFP 9w1 and he's a moody ENTP 3w4, if anyone cares ;).

i just now connected this reaction to the fact turians can’t swim, so of course he freaked out when you went underwater! Garrus jokes about how turians seem to think going into water = drowning, so the only place he doesn’t want Shepard to go is underwater where he is incapable of following! 😍🥰❤️

It makes absolutely no sense why Shepard would be having all these dreams, why Harbinger would be so involved (and yet hardly involved at all in me3? leviathan dlc anybody??), why they would make such a big deal out of indoctrination, contrast TIM’s and Shepard’s missions throughout ME3, etc. if not to have Shepard almost, almost, fall for that stupid little kid AI- before realizing that wow, the reapers have been priming them for this moment from the minute that real child died on Earth! I really wish it would’ve been a series of checks and TQE’s for Shepard to interrupt the glowy toddler and realize this was Harbinger’s last ditch effort to avoid dying (i 100% disagree with the AI’s assessment that the reapers aren’t ‘at war’ these mfers have evolved past their purpose and are absolutely concerned with self-preservation.)

And like?? Maybe Shepard is convinced that they really can Control the Reapers. Maybe they don’t have to sacrifice all synthetics. The entire game, and especially in ME3, everyone has been telling Shepard that THEY bear the galaxy’s burdens. That THEY are the only person who can save everyone. It’s because of THEM that they can win this war. Maybe that gives Shepard pause. Maybe in their wounded and disoriented state they believe what the AI says, that they will have full control over the reapers and everything will be saved- that their consciousness will be preserved, and their essence will be strong enough to prevail, and there is no way that the Reaper AI would lie about any of this… But wait- didn’t they just spend the last ten minutes ripping TIM a new one for thinking he could do the very thing Shepard is considering? Multiple QTE’s for Shepard to say “wait a second, that’s the dumbest shit I ever heard! Begone, tot!” Drags themselves over to the red platform while the AI’s voice transforms into Harbinger’s, screaming at Shepard as they leave a trail of blood across the ramp, the AI appearing every few feet to plead, to burn up, to yell in all the voices of people they’ve lost; only for Shepard to shatter the glass for the Destroy option. And surprise, the Crucible targets REAPERS, not synthetics in general, because Reapers are liars!!

And you know what? Maybe Shepard should’ve been spaced again! But instead of running out of oxygen all alone and crash landing onto Earth, there should’ve been a chain of ships belonging to every race you recruited all passing along a message to the next closest ship: I have a lock on Commander Shepard. Save Commander Shepard. And YOU KNOW WHAT? JOKER SHOULD’VE SAVED *YOU*. JOKER COMES BACK FOR *YOU*.

Don’t even get me started on synthesis!!!!!!!!!!

The Citadel DLC for Mass Effect 3 is a DELIGHT and Garrus and Zaeed getting drunk and weaponizing Shepard’s apartment is the kawaiiest thing I ever witnessed in a video game.
