Whoever created the term "digital/virtual autism" is ableist.

As an autistic person myself I'm so tired of this shit

The term "digital autism" is not a widely recognized or commonly used term in relation to autism but there are some people that still actually use it and believe that it's a thing.

Digital/Virtual autism is a "condition" that is believed to occur when young children (under the age of 3) are exposed to excessive screen exposure which causes autistic like symptoms.

That's literally not how it works. It makes my blood boil.

It's ableist because it implies a negative association between autism and digital technology, suggesting that being autistic and engaging with digital platforms or technology is problematic, WHICH ALSO perpetuates stereotypes and stigmatizes individuals on the autism spectrum, in a negative way. That's why.

Please remember that we have a wide range of strengths, abilities, and experiences. Sure some may find comfort or affinity with technology or using social media, BUT it is not appropriate to label this as "digital autism" or suggest that it is a defining characteristic of autism.

If you are one of those people who believe that it's a thing, I highly doubt that you even heard at least the basics of psychology and/or know how autism actually works.

Seriously just stop, we already have enough troubles as it is. Stop stigmatizing it. /nbh

Im making a big ass thing on notion

Basically, it is a giant catalog of therian and otherkin gear.

From ears and tails, to collars, to wings, to horns, to fins, to clothes, all of it. (Everything I could find at least.)

I have it separated by therian/otherkin, canine/cat/aquatic ect and devinekin/demonkin/darkkin ect.

Then, it's by type. Wild cat/domestic cat/other. Wolf/domestic /other. Ect.

Then it's by exact species. Timber wolf/snow wolf/coastal wolf. Stuff like that. For absolutely everything.

I'm trying to get as many kins as possible so everyone can use this, so please, comment your kin so I can make sure it's there. (Especially if it's a rare one!!)

ill add links and pictures, make sure they are not from harmful fur farms, make sure the quality is good, all of that stuff.

But yeah. I'm super excited for when it's done tbh, and I hope a lot of people see this. (Please reblog :'))

I'm curious. How did you find out that you are tarzanhearted? :o You don't have to answer to my question if it feels over the top! ^^'

I've always loved the Disney movie and the PS1 game. They were fixtures of my childhood - both of them crappy pirated versions our uncle gave us <3 I remember pretending to be Tarzan as early as kindergarten, watching the movie so many times I've lost count, and spending hours trying to beat the game.

Realizing that I had a strong connection to the story/character was easy. Realizing that it was a hearttype, though...

At first I considered him 'just' a synpath. It's a more vague term. It took a while for me to work out what the differences were between hearttypes and synpaths, and what exactly my relationship with Tarzan even was.

I think the turning point was realizing just how consistent of a presence he'd been in my life. The movie was a part of me in a way. I wouldn't have been the same person if I hadn't grown up with it. I saw myself in the story of a boy raised by the wrong species and, as a result, being both and neither his birth species and familial species.

The final straw was rewatching this part as an adult

That's what's in my heart. This scene. I'll carry it with me until I die.

Kinhearted (AKA Heartkin) -- A term for the people who are both otherkin and otherhearted simultaneously (at the same time)

For example: Someone being otherhearted and identifying as it would be otherkin at the same time.

You can identify with something nonhuman and have a strong connection to it, while at the same time, you can fully or partially identify AS something nonhuman.
