Campaign One of Aotra, spanning across three years, has permanently altered my brain chemistry. 86+ hours have been dedicated to planning, thumbnailing, and drawing out each individual party member. I couldn't choose between several backgrounds, so y'all get to see four of them here

Mor Bulgumri (she/her), chosen of the Balancer, god of the Myth, prophet of Istha, goddess of fire, and chosen of Liata, daughter of the Myth, belonging to a fellow player

What if you were ignored and cast aside due to your Otherborn, aasimar nature? Celestials are not to be trusted in the world of Aotra, coming from the alien Otherworld. Celestials and their rigid, uncompromising ideologies cannot properly serve mortals, their "goodness" being antithetical to mortal liberty and well-being. This distrust extends to mortals touched by those who proclaim themselves holy, and Mor was no exception.

What if, on the day of your sister's ceremony to serve the Balancer, you were chosen instead? What if you were chosen by not 1, not 2, but 3 gods to serve? What if you had visions on where to go to fix the Myth after the Severing occurred, of a broken tower that defied the laws of physics? What if you realized the person that caused the Severing was in the party traveling with you?

What if you two fought? What if you two made up? What if you realized something bigger was going on behind the scenes?

What if you grabbed hold of an ancient Other that was alien geometry and physics, that was everything against what you stood for, and shattered it, rendering it subdued and no longer able to manipulate mortals, at least for the time being?

What if,,, post-campaign, you traveled across the world to help communities in need and plant seeds of revolution against the global government? What if you did so with the person who caused the Severing, and they were your lover?

What if,,, you were separated from your twin brother as toddlers, and you were locked up and experimented on for 20 years, while he was trained as a supersoldier? What if you escaped your lab, proclaimed as a fugitive of your nation, with psionic and Other magic that posed a danger to those around you, or so they claimed?

What if you exposed every crime against humanity your nation did to its civilians, every unethical experiment done in the name of progress and development? What if you sought to reform your nation with other survivors?

I am so so normal about this campaign and everything that happened in it, as you can tell

What if,,, you had a happy life with your husband and child, before being arrested on false claims regarding treason of your nation? What if you thought you lost everything? What if you discovered they were still alive, and your husband was part of an anarchist group against the global government? What if you sought to reform your broken nation and give the power back to the people? What if you took on the identity of the leader of your nation because she had her brain eaten by an Other and there'd be a power vacuum otherwise?

Oh to adopt a sentient tank as your second child. That also happened

For context, the Myth is a blanket of energy that powers the mortal world's magic, as well as acting as a barrier that protects Aotra from the alien Otherworld. The Severing was a cataclysmic event in which the Myth was partially broken, allowing Other easier access to Aotra and wreck havoc.

What if,,, you were slow-dripped cognitive radiation as a kid from your Other as a kalashtar, who put the dream in your head to break the Myth and combine the mortal and Other worlds together as one? What if you found employment with a corrupt megacorporation, who had a project to find Other sources of magic by piercing through the Myth?

What if you nearly attained your dream, but your hesitation led to a tear instead of a complete severing of the Myth, resulting in the deaths of millions as the Myth tried to fix itself with mortal souls? What if you were the only survivor of the team of scientists that worked on the project, protected and saved by your Other?

What if you fixed everything with the help of the party, 3 years after the Severing? What if there was a lingering desire to break the Myth again, despite every piece of evidence telling you that'd be a bad idea? The sister worlds belong as one; why should they be separated?

What if you fought your ancient Other, your lifelong friend that kept you company in your darkest moments, because you finally realized what it was?

What if you nearly lost your mind doing so, witnessing truths unfit for mortal eyes?

They were assigned to support one of Seroanil's champions after she kept getting too close to death, and he ended up traveling with a very strange party

Azoxia Ilhui (she/her), Thunderbird warrior and champion to the Witch Queen of Toluca, as well as blood witch and knight of Seroanil the Blood Angel, belonging to a fellow player.

She wandered the desert with no memories of her past. Over the course of the campaign, she discovered she was 400+ years old, the champion to a queen of a lost civilization, and her lover (also the queen) had exchanged her own life for undeath, believing Azoxia was still alive somewhere, after her disappearance from a fight against an invading army.
