I was searching for happiness, while it was looking for me. We kept running in circles not realising that all we needed was to stop, relax and have faith. . . 99% of our happiness comes from being content. Contentment comes from with in us. But how? Well it's quite simple JUST LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE. Easier said than done right? Nothing in life comes easy and so is the case with contentment. It is something you have to strive for everyday. But strive how? Hmm! Isn't it easy to pay gratitude for what you have than what you don't. Not everyone has everything. We all have voids in us emotionally, spiritually, physically and MONETARILY. Universe has its own unique way of distribution of resources and it must be respected. Never have I ever in 21 years of my life met anyone who was happy with his/her life, regardless of gender, monetary status, emotional condition. That is because all we do is long for things we don't have and taking things we have for granted. Contentment is a choice. It's a state of mind. Now you can either choose to be happy or sad. My 2018 started with myself riding the high horse. fall from the cloud nine was mandatory, I always knew it deep inside my heart. From being on the stage to being the vice president of the muisc society, from being an insanely enthusiastic first year day scholar staying back for a sports fallin to the corporal who was taking the fallins, great family support, great friend circle, improving my grades, assisting and observing surgeries with some great surgeons. I couldn't have been more thankful. But keeping in mind the saying THIS SHALL PASS TOO just like and any other hardship. This year was ginormously satisfying and filled with some much needed life lessons. Being an adolescent that I am, I have always considered my wisdom an epitome of perfection (almost! ). But with every step where I stumbled, was a sign from the universe that, "darling you have a lot of growing up to do." I lost a few important people this year to a some baser human Instincts. It would be a mere futile "MAGHAZ" to not write down a take home message. Some lessons aren't as new as they might seem, they're definitely a repetition of the mistakes we are not trying to learn from. This year I also learnt how liars or shall I say pathological liars function. And soooo many things (it'd take me the entire night If I continue). 2018 was just like life. A dab of this and a tinge of that. Nothing more, nothing less. But all the blessings to count in all the good and bad. Wish you all a great year. 🎉🎊 P. I just got my dental instruments. We are a week into the operative dentistry rotation. It's one of the hardest rotations because of regular tests, assignments and long hours working on making a perfect cavity. What we do is mostly restoration and endodontics stuff. We get to attend a lot of lectures and demonstrations during the lab and student clinic. It's hard but it's just worth the pain. You see no pain no gain. Anddd I have an assignment to submit tomorrow. . . After this another tough week I'm going to be proceeding for my winter vacations. I can't wait to be home. Dental lab work! Well I have got to say there’s a lot that goes on behind the curtains in the world of dentistry. And all the praises for our dental technicians, dentists etc. Each and every step in providing the best available prosthesis or treatment takes a lot of effort from the team. Because man getting every thing done with perfection and accuracy is quite a talent and hard work all together. It takes hours to work on a case while in the labs from every little steps starting from pouring your impressions to curing your acrylic each steps requires great precision, accuracy , dedication and stamina. . . . This is a picture of my flask before I put it up for the step of curing. We are into our prosthodontics rotation. Our school requires us to do four complete / complex partial denture cases during our rotation. Including impression taking and all the lab work that goes into a denture fabrication. Thanks to all the dental tech staff as well who have been a great support to us in the labs and have helped us learn a lot. . . . We have a student specified area in the hospital for clinicals . We attend two lectures in the morning head to our clinics. Get demos from our supervisors regarding clinical work and than till 3 we do our clinical work on real patients. ( since it’s our final year ) . . . There was a time I was actually scared of taking an impression,a secondary impression and green stick and last but not the least curing. I literally found these steps haunting at a time. But with time the more I did it the more I got smooth with these. It’s all about practising and hardwork. You have got to keep working on it. Never stop and think that you’re a good enough and also never think you can’t do it. Both thoughts are more or less debilitating. Yeap that’s me and the sea of course. I like to fight things bigger my size. Doesn’t really work does it just like PROCRASTINATION. On and off it gets the best of us and reduced our productivity. Well here are a few tips since we all do it, I think it’s important I share a few things I learned over the past few years of my life: 1. 1.Write down your goal and give yourself a deadline. A goal without a deadline can be put off indefinitely. 2.Break your goal into small pieces. The bigger your goal or the change you want to make, the more quickly it can send you into overwhelm. 3.Visualize the future you want. Imagine the emotions you will feel. Picture yourself in a favorite place celebrating what you’ve accomplished. 4.Harness fear. Fear is a powerful emotion that can keep us mired in excuses. Yet, by focusing on what you don’t want, you can harness it in your favor. So write down how you will feel a year from now if you do nothing. 5.Build accountability. Enlist a support team or an accountability partner or, as I suggested in Stop Playing Safe. 6.Reward progress. Set up a reward system to ensure you celebrate progress and small successes as you go along. 7.Act bravely daily. Starting today. Building momentum is crucial as you start out. So commit to stepping out of your comfort zone at least once per day. From last year when i was in third year of BDS. My first rotation was of oral surgery. Clinical rotations were a whole new experiment and I was ready to pounce at every opportunity to learn and assist a case whenever I got a chance. In third year of BDS we are mostly supposed to learn about history taking, examination, cross infection control measures, chair positioning and other protocols. While the cherry on top was ADMINISTRATION OF ANAESTHESIA including infiltration anaesthesia and the inferior alveolar nerve block. It was one of the best rotations.I assisted so many extractions, BDRs, an alveoloplasty and an SR. There were times when I’d get free early from the clinic and go to the plastic surgery and ENT ORs. As they often have maxillo facial related cases. I got to observe a few of them including removal of BCC covering the nose partially and had extended to maxilla, removal of BCC on the cheek area, free flap for mandible reconstruction, neurofibroma removal , AVM and two neck dissections. I wasn’t really supposed to be there but surgery is one thing I’m really passionate about and I’d go any mile to learn more about it. Surprisingly I got to assist two surgeries. Well I’d say sticking around long enough and being inquisitive really helps. It’s a picture from my 3rd year finals. If I have to put it in the right words.I was in complete shambles I’d say. A constant grind is equals to doing BDS. No one ever said dentistry was going to be easy. It’s an amalgam of a lot of learning you’ll enjoy definitely, hands on clinical work (best part of dentistry) , meeting different people, cluttered study desks, heavy text books, procrastinating, saturating your body with caffeine, hard work and all in all great learning.
