Ah fuck it I’m going on a rant about how the current off broadway does Audrey’s costuming again because I started thinking about it. I don’t know why they chose to give her essentially the most basic costuming they could but it’s just so wrong to me. The point of Audrey is she’s supposed to dress over the top because she’s dressing how she believes she’s supposed to. She’s dressing in what she thinks will be appealing to others. She over compensating in order to hide her fragility and low self esteem, that’s the whole point. And then in the off broadway production they just like, give her a plain black dress? Come on man! Her costuming, in my opinion, is really important visual story telling for her arc. Thats why when it changing after suddenly Seymour is impactful. In the movie she literally had her arm in a fishnet sling at one point. Anyway, I just have beef with the people costuming that show. They have the opportunity to add visual storytelling in with the costumes and they are absolutely wasting it and I hate it.

#this absolutely this #ive said it before and ill say it again #this production just seems so . uncreative in its design #are the performances and casting top tier? yes #some of my favorite portrayals have come out of this production #ahem joy woods (my wife)#but like #in terms of costuming and set #its nothing special #visually it is basically no different than any other production that's already happened #and also somehow worse #like the set is basically the exact same as 2003 but less elaborate and less impressively puppeteered #im glad the production exists because its very good #introduced more people to the show #outside of the movie which is good cuz i feel the movie while great sort of messed up the thematic core of the story #and again #the casting is usually very very good #However.#when there are so many other recent creative productions #like pasadena playhouse or pittsburgh public theatre #i don't know why this one is just so... bare minimum effort visually #thank you SO MUCH for this post op #little shop of horrors

ok so i havent seen a lot of versions of cats yet but all the ones i’ve even seen little clips of or whatever there’s usually a character or two that kind of pisses me off for one reason or another but it is NEVER munkustrap bro just sounds fully angelic every time

#EXACTLYYYYYY #there is no conceivable way to play munkustrap and be bad at it #he is always wonderful #as he should be <3 #GL ON YOUR RESULTS BTW!!!

I’m so obsessed with the idea that all the kittens are the ones mistoffelees conjured up like there’s what 6 or 7 of them so it makes sm sense and aaa it’s literally my fav head canon I’ve heard
