Thank you everyone!

Sorry it took forever to wrap this up. I just was a little overwhelmed with things, it wasn't until now that I could properly tie this off with a little thank you for all the support. It will be months until Daiki's next birthday, so I'll be focusing entirely on my blogs. Hopefully, I can finish the first DRB round writing soon enough!

It was late in the evening in the division of Suginami, and Ryuko Umemoto had been sitting in his small living room after a long day of work when Ryuko suddenly heard the doorbell ring. Assuming this was another gift, the animator walked over and opened the door. There, sitting on his doorstep, were two gifts addressed to him. Bringing them inside his house, Ryuko grabbed the gift closest to him and began to open it.

Inside the first gift was a multi-layer dark red cake themed after dragons and tigers. Seeing there was also a card, Ryuko picked it up and began to read.

Ryuko-san,

Happy Birthday! Hope you like the cake I made for you! I made it big enough to have leftovers for days! Anyway, sorry, I couldn't be there in person! Hopefully, you’re enjoying your birthday!

Turning his attention to the other gift, Ryuko reached over to open it, curious as to what was inside and who sent it to him.

Inside the second gift was a simple red mini projector; however, unlike the first gift, this one came with no letter saying who it was from, leaving Ryuko confused about who could’ve sent him this. When suddenly, the projector turned on and began to play a video on one of his living room walls. When the video finished, the projector produced an additional short message that flashed on the wall.

“Happy Birthday, Gay Boy.”

Ryuko smiled at the letter, letting himself be open about his appreciation for the young girl’s companionship. It was a bit embarrassing that Kanra was right - he would be subsisting on the cake for a good period of time until his next paycheck. It was a hassle to take apart the cake and portion them out into his fridge, but being able to subsist on free cake for a week was all the more worth it.

After all the remaining cake was packed away and Ryuko had made some tea for himself, he made his way back to the living room to see what the hell was one the projector. At first, he assumed that the little gadget was from Kanra’s adoptive sister, Kaoru. Instead, he found a bizarre video, reassuring his homosexual attractions? At first he was angry. But as he processed who the gift and who it was most definitely from, Ryuko’s rage ebbed away. Instead, he started to question:

“Dude, does he want to fuck me?”

Thank you for the gift! And what now Rintaro? You wanna screw Ryuko so baaaad lolololol jkjk... Unless?

“Do you not like it? Surprised? I thought it was plain to see that you needed a new baker's jacket. Your old one has been sitting in your closet for awhile now, in pieces… I won't pry as to why, but I can assume how that happened. Hm? Oh, don't worry about it. I had saved up for a good quality one… I hope. I don't want you to be driving around recklessly is all.”

Shuu Lines:

“Ryu-chan! What~? I would never ever jump on you to surprise you! Ehehe, wait, is this some sort of drug deal? This is just a birthday present Ryuko-chan! Now, accept it normally, you dork!”

“T-Te…Tetsuya is uhm… 190 cm and 88 kg… I mean, I didn’t think I would run into him again and again, but he just keeps showing up! I’m being honest, okay? I’ll just be doing work, and I’ll spot him following the same person! S-So since he’s stalking me… It’s only fair…”

“W-What do I think of him?! I uh… He’s caught my interest I guess? He doesn’t seem to have a job and even weirder, he doesn’t seem to have a past history. Not romantically, but like at all. It’s like he suddenly appeared one day. Just pop! And now he’s here… Well, not really here. I don’t know how I’d feel if he were actually in front of me… Besides, Tetsuya only seems to like me when I’m cross… D-Dressed differently. Something about my current suit makes him nervous for some reason. It makes me depressed, but if that’s what it takes to get closer to him…”

“Uwah! So pretty! Min-chan, right? A stylist? Talk about the perfect guy to fix Ryu-chan’s gross hair… Hm? Oh, I said nothing!”

“Um, I don’t know him, but I’d be happy to meet him! I mean, I need to know what sort of relationship he has with Tetsuya. Like… Are they friends? Or something else? And how did they meet? Why did they team together? Not for any particular reason, I’m just curious why someone like Tetsuya would want Min-chan in his team. You know?”

“Wow~! This guy’s a visual kei artist? That’s so cool! I mean, he isn’t like Jyu-chan, but he looks like he has the potential to be just as famous! You just gotta find the positives! I mean, there must be a reason why he’s chasing after his dreams, right?”

“Oh, and everything I mentioned with Min-chan applies to uhm… Minato-chan! I mean, isn’t Minato-chan completely different from Tetsuya? Why would he associate with him? Don’t tell me, are timid, pretty guys his type? What is his deal?”

“Min-chan and Minato-chan feel completely different to Tetsuya… Seriously, why did they team together? I hope they aren’t too close to him. It would be irritating if Tetsuya was just being nice to me all because I looked pretty and cute. And seriously, why is he so afraid of me when I’m just being normal? I’ll figure it out soon enough… I just need to do a little more research is all! N-Not for my personal gain, of course! I just want to uh… Help my team out?”

“Well… Yashiro-san is certainly an interesting case. I’m afraid like with Arisugawa-san, I do not have a lot to say about a man without a career. Still, it’s a point of interest, is it not? Despite the fact he has no work, no particular skill or talent, or a history… It makes one wonder what sort of man he is.”

Min Jinwoo

“Jinwoo? My, another Korean opponent I see! Although, it’s been awhile since I’ve heard from Yong Hajoon-ssi… Ah, but I wish I could expound more on the history of something like hairstyling or even beauty standards in either Japan or Korea. But… I’m not exactly the most knowledgeable on anything like that. There are some ways beauty and history entangle together. For example, many makeup brushes are manufactured by former Japanese companies that used to specialize in calligraphy brushes. Which, I think is rather sad to think about - that calligraphy is so underappreciated today compared to before. Or perhaps, an even more fascinating fact is how in China, many huadian designs used materials like feathers, jewels, fish scales, and even dragonfly wings to decorate their faces! W-What I’m trying to say is, the things I know about are a bit outdated. Nothing modern like Min Jinwoo-ssi. Perhaps I should take up Edogawa-san’s offer to do something about my wardrobe…”

Minato Kanzaki

“Ah, it’s a visual kei artist like… Who was it again? Aimono-san, yes! I did try to listen and it was interesting. Not my cup of tea, but it seemed like my dear brother enjoyed it. Perhaps he and Edogawa-san have a little more to say about him? I’m sorry, I can’t really give much, but I’m sure Kanzaki-san is a wonderful person.”

“Sour Bomb… I wouldn’t say that these men give a sour taste… Rather, wouldn’t it be appropriate to say they bring an interesting flavor to the competition? A mystery man, a stylist, and an aspiring musician sounds wonderful. I just hope they have the strength to make it through the ranks. I know that sometimes, I feel doubts, but I’m confident in my brother and this team he’s built. With trust on your side, I’m sure even Yashiro-san can make something out of his situation.”

“Tch, a fugitive? I feel like there are a ton of opponents who fit that title. But at least they can all find a job for themselves. What do you mean his occupation is a mystery? Just say he’s unemployed! I mean, that’s at least what I’ve been hearing. From that chibi bastard… For some reason he’s grown some sort of interest in him. I don’t really want to know why, Shuu gets all weird whenever I ask, so I’m done bothering him. I don’t wanna be a nag.”

Min Jinwoo

“A hairstylist… Reminds me, I should get my hair touched up. I keep forgetting to dye it, but then again, it’s both a hassle and expensive. I imagine this guy’s services aren’t cheap either. Just look at his entire vibe. He looks like he’s pretty well off compared to his raggedy-ass leader, Tetsuya.”

Minato Kanzaki

“This is that V Kei shit that Shuu’s obsessed with, isn’t it? The makeup is a bit much, though his piercings are actually pretty sick. Wish I could say anything else positive, but he looks like such a pushover. Both literally and figuratively - His posture is just weak! I mean, my brother looks pathetic, but at least the lanky fucker can toss my ass in defense! Do something for yourself, wimp!”

“Nobuo Sone, age 30 standing at 188 cm while weighing 77 kg… And that's as of last week. You would not believe the number of times I've investigated his personal life. He's such human trash. Nobuo can't seem to keep his dick in his pants… Ever.”

“Eh? I'm a lot calmer than usual? Well, when I've been following him for… Three years? It gets to a point where you get beyond angry and you just silently seethe about a guy, ehehe… I mean if he got, let's say, hurt? I wouldn't feel that bad. In fact, I would probably throw a party to celebrate it. Now question is, would that model join me? Maybe I could invite his manager, hehehe~”

“Shogi? Isn't that an outdated hobby? And wait, he's younger than me?! Isn's it unfair for him to compete against oId people? That’s almost elder abuse… Or maybe I'm out of touch with shogi culture. Probably the latter!”

“Iwao Yoshioka, aged 27 years old standing at a whopping 205 cm and weighing 100 kg! He’s like, giant! Which doesn’t make sense, since his government documents list him as Japanese, but he must be half. Otherwise, everyone should be, like, ten feet tall! Daiki’s butler, Jack, hired me after my mentor suggested my services to him. Something about getting Iwao back home, which is kinda odd. I mean, he’s almost 30! He’s a grown adult, why does he need to go home?”

“Personally, I like Iwao! I mean uh- Look. Usually I’m not supposed to interact with targets? Especially in a friendly way. But this guy is surprisingly observant! After a month of loitering around the Osaka train stations, he approached me and started talking to me. I feel bad twisting my words to lie to him about why I’ve been in the area, but at the same time, he seems a little… Slow? Or naïve, really. He’s a great station attendant, but he’s a little too obedient I guess. Quick to just follow anyone’s command… I wonder if he’s the type to jump off a cliff if told to. That would be horrible…”

“Wait, wait, wait! So Iwa-chan is working with dick-for-brains? Oh no, Iwa-chan is definitely getting taken advantage of! I can’t imagine that giant goof teaming… Awah, this is terrible! Maki’s Thoughts on Himeji Division

Nobuo Sone

“I did some research on this man prior to our interview because I felt like I had seen his name, and I was right. I’ve seen one of his early works, when he was a child acting out as the emperor’s son in ‘Savior of Heaven’ which is a mediocre film in terms of historical accuracy. Then again, it’s a drama, so they tend to glamorize parts. Especially a film with martial arts and adventures like ‘Savior of Heaven’ had. He played the younger version to a major character and from what I understand, that job got him better roles later on in his life. I can’t say what sort of actor he is now, but I imagine Sone-san is very talented in his work. Perhaps if he plays in another historical drama, I might look into it.”

Bunko Ozaki

“Ozaki-san? My, I’m surprised and might I say, excited even, to meet with Ozaki-san again! I had the wonderful opportunity to play against him right before he unfortunately lost his Meijin title almost seven years ago. And can you believe it, despite being undefeated, I managed to beat him in a community speed game! It’s one of my proudest moments in shogi. I wish I could achieve that again, but the time needed to dedicate to become a professional is absurd! You have to play for five years, jumping up ranks before you can challenge the champion for the title of Meijin alone. The prerequisites for the titles of Osho, Kisei, or even Eiou are similarly grueling. I wish I could dedicate that much time into studying to become a professional, but with my dedication to the art of history, I have to keep it as a simple hobby. The thought of being able to play with Ozaki-san again is thrilling though. I hope he remembers me, because it would be an honor to get his autograph next time around.”

Iwao Yoshioka

“So, this is the man Ryuko was calling his ‘kyodai’ earlier when our teams crossed paths. I do commend him for being like Ryuko and quitting the yakuza life. But Ryuko’s refusal to explain their history makes me suspicious about the reasons why he had done so. I don’t imagine this man would quit that life willingly to run trains. Unless there’s some other element to his violent personality that made him interested in something as magnificent as Japan’s train systems. Perhaps I can make a little visit. I just want to talk with him, nothing more.”

YASHA

“It is a… Unique team, I suppose. It’s not what I expect from a castle city, but I suppose the loss of interest in Japan’s history is something that many have adopted. It would have been interesting to see perhaps a person involved in the political or antiquarian fields in the team… That’s just my own musings.”

“Otherwise? I do look forward to facing this team, especially Ozaki-san. I wonder, is he as good with words as he is with the game? Perhaps, I should invest in those books I keep seeing in the book store. It would give some good insight into his mind and his strategies for sure.”

“This freak… Once, I met him and the fucker started to hit on me! If I wasn’t at work, I would’ve fucking knocked his perfect teeth out for mocking me. Besides, what sort of trash is able to walk up to a guy you’re working with to flirt with them like… Like he did! Just do your fucking shitty voice acting job so I can edit the animation to your voice work! And get the fuck out!”

Bunko Ozaki

“Hah, this guy punched out his shogi opponent? If Maki’s little club did that sort of shit, I’d be tagging along with him every week! But nah, boring strategy games like that were always for him and… And our father. Tch, forgot that was their thing. Whatever, go on and ask Maki about this guy if you really want a proper response on him and his career. I’m sure that the nerd can go on and on about this nerd.”

Iwao Yoshioka

“I still can’t believe he’s alive. Everyone told me he died years ago and it was the push that made me give up that life. I figured… To honor him, I would go through with my desire to pursue my passion for art.”

“I want to be angry at him for not saying anything. It… It fucking sucked to lose him. And now that I know it’s a lie? How the hell am I supposed to approach him? Especially when that giant bastard was acting like… Like his death was nothing? Aaagh, that dumb brick wall! Ha… Hahaha, he hasn’t fucking changed one bit, has he?”

“I gotta wonder. What made Iwao team up with that trashy freak, Nobuo Sone? I mean, I guess Iwao had his own hookup stories, but his adventures were mostly funny, not really… Serious? And there’s no way that nerd, Bungo or whatever is getting laid like the other two. So what gives?”

“Either way, if you think reuniting with my dead bro is going to affect me, you’re dead wrong. Iwao, if you’re listening, I’m going to beat the shit out of your team. It’s payback for letting me live for years thinking you got your ass killed!”

Ring Ring Happy Valentine’s! It appears Ryuko Umemoto has received not only one but two gifts! Opening them up, the first gift reveals to be...

...A motorcycle tool kit.

Opening the second gift reveals to be...

...a coffee mug with a certain Demon Slayer character on it.

Along with these presents, there is a note that simply reads…

Gay Boy.

Like clockwork, Ryuko opened the gift with equal amounts of confusion and joy. All up until he saw the letter with the taunting, annoying cursive read, “Gay Boy.”

“WHAT THE FU- No, no. I shouldn’t. I’m not-!”

Blowing up and instantly calming down, the artist was already feeling a whirlwind of emotions at the mocking two words. Resisting the urge to go back to raging and throwing the gifts in every direction, he sat back down and glared at the letter, trying to decipher who the hell was watching him to know about… About that.

“Who the fuck is able to write in those frilly fucking lettering anyways…” Ryuko grumbles. “I figured everyone I know is dumb as rocks to bother learning this… This flowery shit.”

Then it clicks. There’s only two people he’s close to who could have possibly done something of this caliber.

His teammates.

“I’m... Going to fucking murder those two.”

Forgive him Rintaro, he has very few braincells. Thank you for the gift though, even if it's just to bully Ryuko lol
