The DeepL translated FF3 remake unused dialogue

Two interviews for Final Fantasy III’s 30th Anniversary: Part 1 is with Hiromichi Tanaka and he is joined in Part 2 by Koichi Ishii, who describes some of the details that went into the sprites (including background lore elements).

“Final Fantasy Dictionary”: A Japanese fansite/wiki. It’s somewhat casual in tone has some interesting stuff regarding both characters and gameplay mechanics if you know Japanese or just use DeepL like I did. One of the sources I used in learning the NTT guidebook stuff.

In Super Mario Odyssey, crates exist outside of time.

In early versions of the game (1.0 or 1.1), a glitch exists whereby capturing a stack of Goombas that are touching a Life-Up Heart results in time stopping. All movement except for Mario's own is suspended and almost no interaction with objects is possible.

Top: note how Mario is unable to interact with NPCs while time has stopped. Not only do they not have collision, but all of their functionality is also removed. This applies to the vast majority of objects.

Bottom: however, crates and cardboard boxes are an exception. When Mario performs a Ground Pound on them, they still react to it and become destroyed even though time has stopped, showing that they are fundamentally different from other objects.

Live A Live spoilers

Truly, we lived the live.

First, despite picking Pogo as the main character, Yun was the MVP of the second/true ending run of the Dominion of Hate; He not only made up for his whiffing HPD against Headhunter by sacrificing himself and buying time for the rest of the party (Oboromaru & Sundown)'s skills, but I suspect that part of the reason Sin of Odio went down so quickly is because Yun proved himself to be a menace in terms of damage. (maybe. I dunno how the mechanics of the fight work) Shifu, Hong and Lei are smiling in Heaven/the Chinese afterlife.

Also, considering how the original/normal ending went, it was nice for Oersted to get some degree of closure, even if he had to die knowing how badly he fucked everything up. I'd say Oersted needs a hug after all the shit he went through, but Pogo gave him one, so...

Also also, I think I remember reading that Oersted's dub VA is a Shakesphere/stage play actor. Yeah, that sounds about right.

(Your FF fun fact of the night: The structure of Final Fantasy IV: The After Years was inspired by Live A Live. Makes sense, same director and all).

Man, Purity of Odio has such a great track that it almost makes up for his evasion being so painfully high that it's like I'm playing Famicom FF2.

Also there's something slightly amusingly absurd about Yun wandering in (I believe you have to talk to the Earthen Fist Master to Brion's sword) and using him in the boss rush because the other four (Pogo, Akira, Masaru and Cube) have gotten stronger due to their equipment and skills while Yun no longer has access to Heavenly Peaks Descent.

Also also, the character themes playing during the boss rush is a prime "I'm the Final Boss now" moment.

Interesting catch. A quick google search led me to some translations that confirmed that the original NES version (or at least, the Japanese version) had that information. Copypasted from a Gamefaqs guide:

そなたたちの　きおくは　うしなわれているが　そなたたちのいた　せかいは　このせ かいの　しんのすがただ。だが　それがいま　このじだいで　とつぜんくるってしまっ たのだ。 そなた達の　記憶は　失われているが　そなた達のいた　世界は　この世界の　真の姿 だ。だが　それが今　この時代で　突然狂ってしまったのだ。

Your memories have been lost, but the world that was yours is the true form of this world. Nevertheless, that world now in this era suddenly went completely mad.

The ending spiel also has some interesting implications to it:

The Differences and Influence of  the Final Fantasy 1 manga

While Final Fantasy is certainly no stranger to adaptations and alternate media, it’s mostly towards the later entries such as VII or XV depending on how you feel about such media, this may not be a bad thing.

When it comes to the first three entries, their adaptations are the most mysterious: Final Fantasy III got an absolutely insane manga, Final Fantasy II got a somewhat insane novelization and Final Fantasy I has an obscure manga. As these came out long ago in Japan and were rarely, if ever, re-released, knowledge on these media remains scarce.

However, TrafalgarScans on MangaDex has translated the entirety of the Final Fantasy I manga, allowing english readers to experience it for the first time.

And, while a straightforward retelling of the original game, there are a few interesting elements in it. Elements that may seem somewhat familiar if you’ve Dissidia or Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin.
