Can you tell me about Nytha and her character? Especially when the stuff Dexter and Sinister were dealing with in HS was at the worst AND when the twins built her that freakin CASTLE (I would kill for one, lucky woman)

Dude I feel the EXACT same way.

I know I don’t speak for all aro-aces, but…

I think that I fangirl over platonic bonds the same way other folks gush about romantic bonds and shipping characters. I just… feel SO HAPPY when people IRL or in media just plain support each other, help each other with stuff, are open with their feelings of caring for one another…

Like, folks might think I’m missing something by not being into romantic plots n stuff, but it feels like THEY’RE missing out on the preciousness of friendship and family love, in favor of focusing on romance/sex. Though I guess the media loves to focus on those a lot (subject of just about every song, lol), so at least y’all get a lot of satisfaction.

But I want more Power of Friendship! Warrior bonds! Brotherly love! Platonic soulmates! That’s why I fixate so much on things like Zack and Cloud’s friendship in FF7 (my online namesake), Sans and Papyrus’s family bond, Papyrus and Undyne’s friendship, etc. Rare examples where they get focus rather than just being a sidenote. <3

It’s kinda also why I like hurt/comfort, and fluff media. Either they’re an excuse to see a character comforting another character, or them just cherishing time together. Powerful, yet platonic.

So yeah, I dunno how many other aromantics and/or asexuals feel that way, but rather than a lack of excitement over romance, I instead have the same excitement, just over platonic bonds instead! :) So I’m not missing a thing, it’s kinda like… me liking chocolate while you like vanilla, but we’re both still getting our ice cream. ^_^

Edgar has double canines.

He always covers his neck because an attack from a very powerful Guest while out scavenging gave him a Lichtenberg figure scar— similar to survivors of lightning strikes and shaped like Knock-Knock’s sanity meter— all the way around his throat. Spring saved his life.

He THINKS he’s got terrible senses, but with no other humans in the Black Zone, he doesn’t realize they’re literally superhuman.

Post-escape he’s… very reserved. He knows he freaks people out and he “doesn’t belong”. And he just sort of… accepts it. He isn’t here to appeal to the masses, after all— he’s here for Science. If they’re worth interacting with, they’ll figure out he’s a friend.

He’s aroace and very chill with that.

HIS PATERNAL GRANDMOTHER IS STILL ALIVE! SHE wasn’t on the team, her husband and son were, meaning she and all sorts of other Lockwoods are about to find out about their lost relative!!

Post-escape he adopts the black cat! His name is Orpheus. Because you shouldn’t look behind you.

Speaking of which, he knows that openly thinking about Guests makes them more aggressive. He’s trying to throw them off by “telling” himself that there’s nothing there. Even as they are ACTIVELY HUNTING HIM, he’s studying them!

Which makes his attunement to his eldritch Black Zone abilities fitting: after all, if you’re good enough at hide-and-seek for long enoug, YOU get to be “it”.

The Guests becoming more aggressive when you look directly at them has conditioned him to not turn to look at sounds. This means he does the Cool Guys Don’t Look at Explosions thing by default.

OHHHH YES IT’S TIME

So, it takes place in a place known as the Black Zone, a region in southwestern Siberia that’s been corrupted by eldritch energies. The Soviet Union tried to weaponize the phenomenon. That was the Program. Needless to say, it didn’t go well.

After the fall of the USSR, an international team of supernatural scientists was sent in to find out why the Black Zone was expanding and how it could be brought under control.

They requested aid which never came. The officials deemed it would hurt their reputations to admit they hadn’t prepared enough the first time.

Except two of the scientists had a child together.

HE’S the Lodger: Edgar Lockwood. His parents were from the UK and he sounds like a sort of calculating Salad Fingers.

His bloodline of paranormal researchers was blessed centuries ago by fae beings aaaand he ADAPTED due to being born in the Black Zone.

He’s got a slow-acting weakness to bright sunlight, extra teeth, freaky shadow powers, a healing factor that strengthens in the dark, and a resistance or immunity to most organic toxins. Also, due to the lack of large game and the abundance of scavengable Soviet arms, he is an IMPECCABLE shot. Also, due to the bacteria in a human’s mouth ALSO being full of corruption, he effectively has a venomous bite.

His goal after escaping is to use his abilities to study Black Zone corruption and bring it under control… and reveal the truth about what happened to his international “family”.

He is also genuinely sweet and kind despite being so creepy. Due to his fucked up biology, Edgar’s here for a good time, not a long time, he just has a strange definition of what a “good time” is.

A lot of what you see in the game is Edgar reliving memories from others who died in the Black Zone. AND THE GIRL! She’s a dryad and her name is Spring/Vesna… she has little twig antlers and she’s baby. They’re both like the older AND younger sibling back and forth in an infinite loop because Spring is chronologically older, but developmentally younger.

Okay but Frosmoth makes me imagine Cloud just ADOPTING a Snom. Trying to act like an aloof tough guy when he’s totally fallen for the Snom’s cuteness. “His ice typing helps offset the multiple weaknesses to flying moves,” he insists as he holds it and feeds it a snowcone

Staraptor - It has a savage nature. It will courageously challenge foes that are much larger. It never stops attacking even if it is injured. It fusses over the shape of its comb.

Mienshao - It overwhelms its opponents with continuous attacks and then slowly stores up power before delivering the finishing blow. Using the long fur on its arms like whips, it launches into combo attacks that, once started, no one can stop.

Frosmoth - It shows no mercy to any who desecrate fields and mountains. It will fly around on its icy wings, causing a blizzard to chase offenders away.

Gallade - When trying to protect someone, it extends its elbows as if they were swords and fights savagely.

Chandelure - The spirits burned up in its ominous flame lose their way and wander this world forever. In homes illuminated by Chandelure instead of lights, funerals were a constant occurrence— or so it's said.

Gardevoir - It will dedicate itself to defending a master it has come to adore. Its pure white dress, reminiscent of those worn by ladies of nobility, is the dress of one who is willing to risk their life.

Details:

This one’s very much a “I imagined if his world actually had Pokemon and what he would catch and recruit”. Mienfoo was selected as a “mountainous region” pokemon given Mt. Nibel’s importance, and the Starly line was picked for generally being an easily accesible but gutsy line. I imagine Starly as his first Pokemon.

Frosmoth was picked for when he formed a bond with Zack, for the snowy locale. As a bonus, Snom evolves into Frosmoth via friendship. Gallade I imagine was Zack’s, and he turned it over to Cloud when he died. Chandelure was picked because I felt he needed a Ghost-Type, and the next step felt like a “city” Pokemon. I imagine it hung around as a Lampent waiting for him to die and he just didn’t. Game recognizes game and all that.

Gardevoir is for Aerith’s death. Ralts is a Pokemon found in grassy areas and woods, and is attuned to emotions. Gardevoir itself is known as the “Embrace Pokemon” and that along with its Fairy-Type, appearance, and being a counterpart to Gallade put it in this slot.

IDK Final Fantasy why does this guy experience So Many Situations. Somebody better put It Never Rains In Southern California on a Cloud Strife playlist.
