Is the Grass Greener on the Other Side? Ep. 3
Tumblr media
Summary: When Sasha Banks (Mercedes) and Naomi (Trinity) walk out of WWE, where does that leave Y/N?
Word Count: 2.8K

May 2022 (Friday after Backlash; 5/13)
“What?”
“We would like you to drop the title to Ronda.”
….
….
“No.”
….
“What?”
Now…normally you would be the one to agree with others (to avoid conflict) or at least make compromises. But something started to bubble in you a little bit. Ronda, as big as a draw she may be, did not deserve to have your title, especially by just taking it from you. After the emotions, she provoked out of you and the opportunities she stole from you (just by existing), you didn’t understand why you had to be the one who had to take another hit just to make her look good.
“No offense, I normally agree with your visions. But this is not a good idea.” You started with a nervous chuckle. “I literally just won the title and I would like a reign that could really help the division, not only myself but others.”
John started, “Y/N, don’t take this personally-“
“Oh, but I am.” You said, cutting him off. “Every since she’s arrived, she has been given everything; furthermore, at the expense of myself, others, and my career. It’s infuriating that there are other women on both rosters, who actually can wrestle, but have not had many opportunities. She has no interest in getting better or helping others improve.” You paused, looking at the three men who all had guilty expressions on their faces. You sighed before continuing to speak, “Look, I already allowed you and her to make a fool of myself before, and that hindered my growth. I’m not allowing that again.”
Vince cleared his throat, “Y/N, we understand your grievances. But it’s just that Ronda is a big draw-“
“And I’m not?” You asked, raising your eyebrows. Vince quickly shook his head.
“You are! You are one of our biggest draws on the roster, especially for the past years. We don’t have anyone else with enough star power to enter a feud with you besides Ronda.” Vince said. “Becky is on Raw, Charlotte is on hiatus, Bianca is Raw women’s champion, Sasha is tag champ, and Bayley is out due to injury. There is not much star power left to really draw besides Ronda.”
Leaning forward, you said, “Then allow me to give other women a chance. The chances that I never got or that were taken from me. Again, there have been many women who have worked their asses off and have not gotten the recognition yet. Liv is a perfect example, she just needs a good feud to really get her going.” You leaned back in your chair, looking at your title. “I’ll drop the championship, in all due time. But I will not drop it to Ronda.”
There was a tense and awkward silence that filled the atmosphere as you looked Vince McMahon straight in the eye, defying him and what he wants. In hindsight, who the hell was you to be reeling against Vince K. McMahon? But you have always been the reliable worker, the one they can always depend on to give a great show/match, the one the fans fought for to be the face of the division. But for some reason that all went out the door when Ronda entered the picture.
Paul cleared his throat and clapped his hands together, “Okay. Tensions are high and we are not going to make a decision when we are all like this. So, Y/N, thank you for meeting with us. When we can think of an alternative, we will let you know.” You nodded before leaving the room without another word. You wanna trust them to take your words under consideration and try to find something else, for your sake and theirs.
Although you always believed that the women’s division doesn’t get the respect, attention, or hype it deserves, you didn’t always feel this way toward Ronda or Vince. When Ronda first came to the WWE, you welcomed her with open arms and a warm smile, (even though your storyline was booted off Wrestlemania 34 for her).
That’s fine.
As time continued, you offered to help train her and practice with her, but she refused. But she still praised your skills and accomplishments.
That’s fine.
After a while, you had to be put on the back burner because they wanna build her up as a champion and threat. And she was getting paid more than you despite your tenure, draws, and skills.
It took time to get used to it, but that’s fine.
Soon, Ronda went on an Instagram live bashing WWE and professional wrestling, co-workers, dissed you and your cousin, Mercedes (for reasons unknown), and complained about how hard the industry is while working part-time.
That’s not fine.
—Time Skip: 3 Hours—
You found Mercedes and Trinity getting ready for their match. Knowing they’re also going through creative and booking differences, you decided to confine them. Mercedes, who has always been protective of you, instantly was on your side and proud that you stuck up for yourself, especially against Vince. Trinity was also proud of you and happy that you decided to say something before it’s too late.
“Y/N, we understand how you feel, God knows we do. Under-appreciated, overlooked, and all. Honestly, it feels like these championships are just here to hush us.” Trinity said.
“It does.” Mercedes said before turning to you, “We literally had the same meeting with Vince and John earlier about plans for the tag team championships.”
You squinted, “What’s the plan for you?”
“Nothing. They don’t know what they want to do. It’s very limited because they don’t have many actual tag teams left. We tried giving them ideas but they don’t agree with them.”
“So what are you guys thinking about doing?” You asked looking between your two friends.
There was a quick moment of silence before Mercedes spoke up. “We are thinking about leaving WWE.” Immediately, your heart dropped. You didn’t want the two closest people in your life to leave, especially leave you here. At this moment, you were conflicted about how you felt about it. On one hand, it made sense to leave a place that feels like it doesn’t need you. On the other, you are upset that all this drama and conflict lead to this. “Come on, Y/N. At this point, what else do we have? I’m tired of the constant disrespect, not only to me but to you and Trin. And the rest of the locker room.”
Trinity spoke up, “And we’ve been talking this over for almost this entire week. And we also think it might be a suggestion if you leave with us too.”
Your eyes widened in disbelief as Mercedes scoffed, “Y/n! We were just on the same page like two minutes ago.”
“Yeah! But I still have plans that I wanna accomplish here. Every person goes through a rough patch.”
“Sure, but for how long? How long do these rough patches last? When will they stop? Or when will they just give the plans to Ronda, like they always do?” Trinity asked, sitting down next to you.
“Let’s go Y/N. We started this together, so let’s leave together.” Mercedes said, looking straight into your eyes
“But I just can’t up leave, at least now. There is so much I wanna do and have to do.”
“But the question is will they allow you to do that?” You stayed quiet as you evaluated your options. Even if you did, where would you go for your career? You worked pretty much everywhere you wanted to, WWE was the endgame for you. How would your co-workers see you? What about your relationship? Mercedes’ words pulled you out of your thoughts, “Look, even if you don’t leave with us, just know we will support you no matter what. And we just want that same support too.”
“Of course.”
“And promise me you won’t tell anyone about this conversation.”
“Of course.”
—Time Skip: May 20, 2022 (Smackdown)—
It took everything in you not to cringe or allow your anger to show as the announcement was made on national television.
“Sasha and Naomi took the tag team championships into the office of our head of talent relations, they left them there, and then promptly walked out of the arena. Their actions disappointed millions of WWE fans and their fellow superstars. So because of what Sasha and Naomi did this past Monday night, they have been suspended indefinitely.”
Mercedes and Trinity walked out of WWE, to the surprise of everyone, except for you.
Immediately afterward, a huge meeting was called that included the entire locker room, Vince, and John. Essentially, degrading Mercedes and Trinity and their actions (while simultaneously ignoring their emotions). If looks could kill, during that meeting, both you and Vince would have been killed by each other. Social media outlets and that meeting heavily implied you were next for the walkout and that it was you who encouraged them to walk out. Afterward, it’s like you had the bubonic plague with the way everyone was avoiding you. No one interacted with you besides Zelina Vega (who was out on injury), Liv Morgan, and Raquel Rodriguez.
You being Mercedes and Trinity’s friend and the only one of the trio who didn’t walk out, it kind of makes it seems like you’re being punished. On top of the isolation backstage, you’ve been rarely mentioned on broadcasts (even though you are starting a feud with Raquel), and you were pulled from tonight’s and tomorrow’s card. After filming a quick (less than a minute) promo, you decided to leave the arena with the permission of Triple H.
While packing your things, you got a phone call. Without looking at the phone, you answered while sighing, “Hello?”
“Hey sweetheart, I just wanted to check on you with all the news going on.”
“Ugh, it’s getting stressful around here. I wish I could just disappear real quick and come back to everything fixed.”
“I know what you mean.”
“Danny, I genuinely don’t know how to feel or what to do.” You were happy to hear Daniel’s sweet and smooth voice over the phone. For the past month, you and Daniel have been getting closer than how you were for the past four years. You would call and text nearly every day, including when it felt like no one was on your side.
“I don’t know what to tell you. All I can tell you to do is to follow your heart and think about your actions while doing so.”
“Look at you, sounding like a cliche therapist from a Hallmark movie.” You chuckled, making him laugh.
“Shut up, I’m trying to make you feel better, you prick.”
“Well, I greatly appreciate it.”
“No problem! Um, where’s Carmelo? I know he’s there, comforting you.” You could just hear his eyes roll.
“Uh, no. He’s down in Florida right now for NXT. He hasn’t acknowledged me publicly.” That’s right; despite him being your boyfriend, not even Christian interacted with you backstage or out in public. He would text you and call you to check on you; but he did not want to be in public with you, for fear that his career would be messed up. And you honestly couldn’t blame him right now, seeing how the way things are playing out for your life. You don’t want him to be affected by something that has nothing to do with him.
Daniel sighed, “Why do you deal with him?”
“Danny, it’s complicated. But contrary to popular belief, I’m happy with him.” You said.
“But can you picture yourself happier somewhere else? With someone else?” He asked, making your heart leap to your throat.
Sighing, you answered. “Respectfully, that’s a loaded question that I can’t answer right now. Sorry,” Truthfully, it was. You couldn’t answer that question, especially when you can’t even see what your future holds for you in the next couple of weeks. Sure, you’re happy now. But have you always been happy with Christian? Short answer, no. But no relationship is perfect and just like you said with your relationship with WWE, everything has rough patches.
“Understandable, don’t apologize, it was my fault.” He said, making the line go silent; not an awkward silence, but more so a comfortable silence. “Did you still wanna hang out Sunday?”
“Yeah, now that I’m fully off of the card for this weekend, I have free time.” You two confirmed your plans before getting off the phone, even though Daniel wanted to stay on the phone until you got home. Even though you travel the world, you decided to live in New York (to cross off your bucket list and it was just convenient for you). So driving from Smackdown’s arena to your apartment wasn’t far. On your drive home, you were trying to decompress, before your phone decided to ring again. You almost screamed before answering the phone to a vaguely familiar voice.
“Yes, is this Miss. Y/N?”
“Depending on who’s asking.”
“Y/N, this is William Regal.” Your eyes widened as your memory started to flash. Even though he mainly worked with NXT, William Regal always kept an eye out for you. He believed that you are truly one of the best of the bests and tried everything to make sure you were considered for various opportunities. “Miss Y/N, I hope I’m not disturbing you.” His accent rang in your ear.
“Not at all. What do I owe you?”
“I’ll get right to the chase Miss Y/N. I need help training this young fellow. He’s very good in the ring, he just needs a push in certain areas. He’s a rookie, but a damn good one at that. I’m asking you for your expertise.”
“I’m shocked that you would trust me with a big task, Regal.”
“Please, I assume that this is just another little duty of yours. Besides, I don’t trust many people when it comes down to training and practicing, I hope you know that.”
“Regal, it’s an honor that you choose to call me for this. I’ll help you. When and where do you need me?”
You swore, you could hear a smile in his voice. “Great! That’s the thing though, I know this is short notice. But I was hoping you can help tomorrow, the gym is in New York. It shouldn’t be too far from your house, assuming you still live in New York.”
“Yes, I do. Just send me the address and I’ll be over there first thing tomorrow morning.”
Thank you so much Miss Y/N. I’ll send everything right over and tomorrow you will meet the young lad.”
Afterward, you two hung up as you were pulling into your parking spot. After an exhausting day, you just needed to go to sleep.
And that’s exactly what you did.
—Time Skip: Next Day—
It’s around 9 AM, and you immediately got up to put on workout clothes. You grabbed a quick breakfast and left your apartment. As you started to walk to the address Regal gave you, you couldn’t help but feel excited. It feels like another chance is being given to you. But in what way? You don’t know yet. You’re just happy that there is someone who believes in your abilities to help others. After walking for ten minutes, you arrived at the gym and entered to see 3 rings filled with people practicing drills, wrestling moves, and even promo cutting.
In the middle of all the chaos, you saw William with a smile, opening his arms towards you. “Y/N! Wonderful to see you again!” He hugged you before briefly showing you around the gym. While talking to William, you were constantly stopped by other wrestlers or aspiring wrestlers, telling you how much they enjoyed your craft. You could only smile as your heart grew with pride. William soon brought you into the middle ring, explaining the goals and agenda today. “Thank you so much for doing this Miss Y/N. Again, this lad is very gifted but he just needs a push. I’m thinking more variety in his arsenal.”
“I understand.” You chuckled, “So who is he?”
“Oh! He’s a well-oiled machine he is, just like his father. He should be here any moment.” William said looking around. And as if you’re on a sitcom, the door opened seemingly right on time. “Ah! There he is!” You looked over at the door to see a tall man with brown fluffy hair as if he was just woken up. He had a black hoodie on with matching pants and white shoes. He put down his bookbag before entering with you and William. As he got closer, you got a better look at his face. William spoke up with a smile, “Y/N, meet your mentee, Taz’s son...
Hook!”

Good For You
Pairing: Becky Lynch x Reader Summary: Compliments can go a long way sometimes. Warnings: smut, top Becky, bottom reader, praise kink, vaginal fingering, oral (f receiving)
You sat on top of a crate sipping from your water bottle as you watched Becky and Bayley going through their segment together. You had just beaten Becky in a singles match, which prompted Bayley to come out on her own and talk some shit. It was your first singles win in over a year and a half. Becky had talked to you about it beforehand, claiming that she wasn't the only one who thought it was time that the tune changed for your career. You hadn't been seen as a good singles competitor by Vince, who had a habit of throwing you in tag teams that were all destined to fail. Hunter seemed to be a lot better about giving you a fair shot to succeed out here and offering you feuds that wouldn't just fizzle out after a couple of matches.
"There she is, woman of the hour. I'm surprised you didn't go back to the locker room after this," Becky said. You shrugged it off, trying to play the compliment down a bit.
"I didn't want to miss that promo. I've got a thing or two to learn from watching the old vets," you teased. Becky placed her hands on both sides of your thighs as she leaned towards you. She had always been a smidge shorter than you, but now you were towering over her on the crate.
"Now, here I was about to tell you how good I thought you were out there. Maybe you should say sorry so I can tell you what a good girl you are," Becky joked. She hadn't meant anything by those words, and you knew that, but that knowledge didn't stop the heat from rising up from your chest. You avoided Becky's eyes so she wouldn't see your pupils dilating, but you could tell that she had caught you anyways.
"I should go." You tried to leave, but Becky wasn't budging.
"Not so hasty now. I think there's a thing or two that we can do with this little discovery," Becky suggested. You would be a liar if you said that you hadn't thought about it. Especially since Becky re-debuted The Man again. It had been quite some time since you had hooked up with anybody, and if Becky was willing then so were you.
"Did they let you keep the dressing room?" you asked her.
"Don't worry about that," Becky told you. That didn't answer your question, but as Becky led you to a part of the venue where nobody was, you realized that she didn't have the private room anymore. That didn't matter though, Becky had found a secluded room with a comfortable enough place for her to do everything to you that she wanted to. "Lay back on that."
You listened to Becky's every word, hoping for a bit of praise in between her actions. Each time you did as she said, you were rewarded. You caught on quickly to the things that Becky wanted from you. The gentle praises you received from not holding back seemed to hit the hardest. You swore that each time Becky muttered about how good you were being for her in between kisses to your thighs you felt a rush of arousal course through your body. Becky continued to praise you, letting out appreciative noises as her mouth focused on your clit and teasing the drops of your arousal that dripped down from your entrance.
"Becky, please. I need you to fuck me," you begged. Becky didn't need to be told twice. She started with one finger, teasing you until she was certain that you could handle more. You were practically screaming as Becky fingered you. Your body curled along with her fingers. It was like she was physically pulling the orgasm from your core. You felt completely rocked afterwards, but Becky stayed and soothed you until you were okay again.
"Guess we should get back. Hopefully you already scared off anyone they sent looking for us," Becky teased. You paused in getting yourself redressed to shove her. "Ay, that's no way to treat someone who just made you cum that hard."
"It is when it's you," you teased back. Becky narrowed her eyes to glare at you, but the faux-angry look on her face left as soon as you kissed her. "Now, stop acting like a baby and get me out of here."

How God Hates Us All made Slayer great again
In 2001 Slayer re-established themselves as kings of metal with their church-baiting warcry God Hates Us All.
Tumblr media
September 10, 2021Words:Ian Winwood
In the summer of 2001, Slayer took to the road in the United States as part of the Extreme Steel tour with Pantera. On a bill that also featured Morbid Angel, Static-X and Skrape, one day Kerry King played the Texan cowboys from hell a number of songs from his group’s as-yet-untitled new album. Responding to a line from the track Disciple, Kerry was told, “Man, God Hates All would look [great on] a shirt.” It would, he agreed, but it would work better still as the title for Slayer’s ninth studio LP.
“How can you look at the world and think God doesn’t hate us?” wondered the guitarist. Kerry King was once asked to nominate his own superpower and answered that he would like to be able to set churches ablaze simply by walking past them. In Slayer World, this made him the band’s most qualified theologian.
“Wars, disease…” he said. “If we’re so perfect, why are we so fucked?”
ADVERTISING
God appeared to agree. God Hates Us All was released on September 11, 2001, mere hours before passenger planes were flown into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, the most Slayer-esque act of the modern age. Five years later, these atrocities would inspire Jihad, the band’s finest song of the 21st century. They would also throw the world into a state of flux for the next decade and more.
Tumblr media
Ahead of the curve, the world of heavy music had been in turmoil for a number of years. The advent of nu-metal in the middle years of the 1990s saw the sound and look of metal change in remarkable and pliant ways. Tunings went down and guitar solos were eschewed. Long hair was no longer de rigueur. Baseball caps and vivid oversized sportswear became the wardrobe of the choice.
In truth, Slayer had endured a difficult decade anyway. Leaving aside the Seasons In The Abyss album, from 1990, the final 10 years of the 20th century had seen the band unveil just two further of albums of original material. Caught in a nu-metal storm, Diabolus In Musica, from 1998, provided a nod to these changing times. The Californian quartet’s most adventurous release – never again would they attempt to write songs as innovative as Stain Of Mind and Wicked – and by far their most intriguing, Slayer’s attempts to park their tank on a new cutting-edge lacked just one thing: an identity.
In this, the group were not alone. Iron Maidenslogged through a swathe of the 1990s with singer Blaze Bayley, a solid presence who lacked the charisma of his predecessor Bruce Dickinson. Even market leaders Metallica spent the second half of the decade attempting to escape the shadow of their 31-million selling Black Album. Between 1996 and 1999, the San Franciscans released four albums, only one of which – S&M – was met with anything approaching universal acclaim. The group did, though, start the 21st century in reassuring style, with the convincing I Disappear, from the 2000 summer blockbuster Mission: Impossible 2.
In the fullness of time, it would take Metallica a further eight years to re-establish their identity with the slightly-too-comfortable Death Magnetic album. Iron Maiden exorcised their recent past with ruthless efficiency by re-recruiting Bruce Dickinson and releasing Brave New World, in 2000, an LP that reassured listeners that normal service had been resumed. But it was Slayer who returned from their brief paddle into uncharted waters with the greatest sense of urgency and violent panache.
Tumblr media
As an album, God Hates Us All reassured its constituents that the band had come home to the thrash-tastic turf that would not exist without them. More than this, over the course of a further three studio albums this stall would budge not an inch in the years that elapsed until the group called it a night in 2019. In his own blunt style, Kerry King explained that, “I want us to be the AC/DC of thrash. I want people to know exactly what they’re going to get when they hear us.”
Which is not to say that the band’s first album of the new century was merely an exercise in nostalgia. Recorded in Vancouver, God Hates Us All was produced by Matt Hyde, whose subsequent credits would include Deftones and Parkway Drive. Accompanying this modern sound were lyrics that eschewed the Satanic and occult themes with which the group had established their identity in years past with songs such as Altar Of Sacrifice, Spill The Blood, and Born Of Fire. In its own quiet way, this too was a nod to metal’s unlikely march toward self-examination.
“There’s no Satanic or supernatural elements to [the album],” Kerry King explained. “It’s just more about things that people can relate to. All our albums are angry, but this one is really pissed-off because it’s inward looking. I’m usually the Dungeons & Dragons spooky dude. On this record I made a conscious decision not to do that. I wanted to keep our dark themes, but also to write stuff that people can relate to. I tried to think about what pisses me off and why and how people could relate to that, rather than saying, ‘The Devil’s over there fucking your mother’, or something.”
Tumblr media
Accompanied by a crisp music video for the song Bloodline – the band’s first since Dittohead, seven years earlier – God Hates Us All is not Slayer’s best album. But it is one of their most assured, and one which cemented their contemporary relevance to a new generation of metalhead. In 1991, the group capped off their first 10 years of active service with a live album titled Decade Of Aggression; yet the ’90s could have been called Decade Of Relative Uncertainty. But after years of laziness – only one track, the supreme Disorder, featuring Ice-T, breached the silence spanning 1990 and 1994 – and excursions such as the thrilling but contextually misguided punk-covers set Undisputed Attitude (1996), once again Slayer were back in a game of their own creation.
On the day that God Hates Us All was released, the Californians planned to fly to Europe to embark on the Tattoo The Planet tour, co-headlined by Pantera. Stranded in Dublin following the fall of the Twin Towers, the Texan group embarked on a row that would break their band apart forever. One week later, Kerry King and co. crossed the Atlantic and topped the bill unaided. In doing so, once more they stood alone as the kings of very, very, very heavy metal.

Bayley's Day Off
An oldie, but a goodie.
Rating: T Chapters: 1/1
Summary: Due to being called into work for a meeting, Bayley's day off takes a detour as she tries to get the meeting over with as soon as possible, with some bumps in between.
Read this story on another platform: Archive of Our Own
"Why?"
That's the question Bayley asked herself as she drove to the Thunderdome, her day off being rudely interrupted by that idiot Adam Pearce. He decided he needed to talk to her in person about some "special assignment". Why couldn't he have told her it over the phone? Does he not know she was in the midst of another re-watch of the Office? Actually, he probably didn't, but that didn't mean she couldn't blame him.
She pulled into the car park of the building, hoping that it would at least be very brief. That couch was calling her name, and she really wanted to answer that call. As she got out of the car and informed the security of who she was (she didn't care if he had to be sure, the Role Model shouldn't have to get clearance), she felt a strange foreboding chill come over her. It felt like something was going to go very wrong almost, but she chalked it up to it being an unusually cold day in Florida.
As she walked into the halls of the building, she could hear faintly, a high-pitched voice seemingly calling her name. She turned around slowly, hoping it wasn't some young sheep fan that spotted her and was surprisingly ok with what the source of the sound was.
Liv Morgan bounded towards Bayley with a bright smile on her face. Her hair was done up in a ponytail and she wore a simple blue t-shirt and a pair of black sweatpants, a sign that she was here for nothing fancy it seemed.
Liv's smile, as much as she didn't want it to, brightened her annoyed mood and made her feel a bit happier. Liv was one of the few people in the women's locker room she didn't actually loathe. Everyone else seemed annoying, or they were sheep, but Liv…. Liv always got past her icy exterior.
"Hey, Bay! What brings you here?", Liv said as she greeted her unexpected friend. The two of them had gotten on strangely well outside the ring over the last year or two. Of course, Ruby wasn't a fan, but more than a few times she'd see Bayley without telling her and they'd hang out.
"Nothing much, really. Had to come in here on my day off because of stupid Pearce. He said he had some kind of special assignment for me." Bayley responded, rolling her eyes as she remembered why she was here in the first place. Liv could only keep her spirits up for so long before reality came back to her.
"Did he tell you what the assignment was?" Liv asked, intrigued.
Bayley shook her head as she sighed. He didn't even give any hints as to what it was either. She was completely in the dark and had to hope it was nothing negative. The last thing she wanted was anything to do with Sasha, so she hoped it had nothing to do with that. Maybe it involved Liv. That would be nice for a change.
"Ah, well. That's a shame. I guess it will be a surprise then." Liv told her, the smile continuing to stay on her face. She was always an optimist, in all things in her life. Some found it sickening, others found it sweet. Bayley… she was more in the middle. At times like this she would accept it, but she doubted she could handle it daily.
"Why are you here though?" Bayley asked.
"Um, just to… film some stuff." Liv said, with a slight nervous twinge to her voice. She started twisting a loose curl from her hair around her ear, something she'd do when she was anxious.. or lying about something. Bayley began to get suspicious.
"What are you filming then?" Bayley questioned, wanting to test her and see exactly what was going on. She didn't buy for a second that she was coming here to film stuff.
"… WWEShop ads. That's it." Liv responded after taking more time than is normally needed for a question like that to answer. Bayley then walked up to her, seeing if she could break her down under her gaze, as she got into a staring contest with Liv.
"Are you gonna tell me what you are actually doing here now?" Bayley said with a more serious look on her face. After what had happened with Sasha, Bayley really hated being lied to. It had happened so much over her career, so she vowed to forever be wary of people when they seemed even the least bit suspicious.
"If I tell you, then you might not like me that much anymore." Liv said as she looked away from Bayley's steely gaze.
"Well, that's for me to figure out though, isn't it?" Bayley said to her, in a more comforting way than her previous statement. She wanted to just know the truth, that was all.
As Liv was about to possibly tell her the truth, a voice from behind Liv rang out. Bayley knew that voice all too well. It was the most annoying and loud voice she had ever heard, and as far as she was concerned, every second she lived without hearing it was a blessing in disguise. She really had to stop herself from getting too angry or she would do something she'd regret.
"Liv, girl! You ready?!" Bianca Belair shouted as she saw Liv. Her outfit consisted of a purple tank top and tight purple shorts, matching as always. Her shoes, which seemed to be the same brand as Liv's, were track shoes, specifically for running.
"Ready for what?" Bayley asked, trying desperately for her blood not to boil as she saw her least favorite person currently, Bianca Belair, standing right there.
"Oh, she didn't tell you?" Bianca questioned as Bayley's head shake gave her her answer, "Well, Liv and I are going to work out and head for a run. I only told her to meet me here because I forgot my track shoes in the locker room."
Bayley's glare then refocused on Liv. Not only had she lied to her, but she was hanging out with the woman who she hated the most in the world right now. She knew Liv had no reason to inform her of her friendships; they weren't dating or anything like that, but she felt that she should at least have been told that she was pals with Bianca.
"Told you you might not like me that much anymore." Liv said sheepishly as she finally looked back at Bayley in the eyes.
Bayley wanted to lay into Bianca with a forearm right now, but she decided it wasn't worth it. Liv was there and while she was disappointed, she wasn't that mad at her if she was honest. Plus, she really just wanted to get on with her day and go back home. With a small sigh, she put a hand on Liv's shoulder and told her, "No, it's fine. I don't want any trouble right now. I just want to get this meeting with Pearce over with. I still like you."
Bayley then turned around and began walking away from the two women and she continued her journey towards Pearce's office. Before she could make much headway, she heard Bianca cal out to her. "Well, it was nice seeing you again, Bayley. Hope you have a nice day. Maybe get yourself fixed up a bit. You still looking dusty." Bianca said to her. Bayley's hands balled into fists and she squeezed them, but she kept walking, just wanting to get this whole thing over with. ______________________________________________________________
Bayley's continued journey brought her to the vicinity of a vending machine, which she was ever so thankful for. She was a bit hungry and needed something to hold her over until she got back home. As she went to purchase a Kit Kat (It was her day off, allow her this one), she realized that the bar was stuck. She banged the machine as she tried to get it out, to no avail. Before she went for her next attempt, a large arm banged against the machine and the bar came out as she wanted it to. She wouldn't have to even turn around to find out who decided to help her out.
"Now you see, there's a trick to it. You gotta know exactly the right place to hit it to get what you want." Big E said to her as he smiled down at her. The current Intercontinental Champion could be considered an old friend to Bayley. When she and the New Day were together on RAW, the four were good friends. They hung out a lot and had lots of fun times and great memories. But ever since she changed, Bayley saw them in a different light. Yeah, she still kinda liked them, but she saw that they hadn't changed at all, unlike her. They were still sucking up to the fans and wanting their approval. She had to admit that she lost a bit of respect for them for doing that.
"Thanks E.", she said as she unwrapped it and began eating it.
"No problem, Ms Role Model. Just helping out a friend when I can. I heard that you had the day off today. Why are you here? I'd like to think it's to spend time with yours truly, but I feel like that's not the case." E told her as he took time to stretch a bit, apropos of nothing.
"Meeting with Pearce…. why are you stretching right now?" Bayley stated and then asked. She used to find his propensity for stretching at random times quite endearing. Now it was just plain weird to her.
"What? A man can't get his stretch on when he feels the need? As the current Intercontinental champion, I need to be ready at all times, so I need to be consistently limber. You used to be a champion. You know how it works." E told her, by this point in a full split on the floor.
"Why are you…," Bayley tried to say before stopping herself and taking a breath, "Yes, I understand how it works. It's just not something that I personally do."
"Well, we get ready in whatever way we think is best," he said as he got back up to a standing position, "Actually, I'm glad I found you. I've been meaning to talk to you about something, something important." He said as his tone changed to a serious one.
"What is it? Are you ok? Is everything alright?" Bayley questioned, getting a bit concerned at his words chosen and change of tone.
"I'm ok as anyone can be when they've had something stolen from them." E said as his head dropped in defeat. Bayley's eyes opened in panic and fear. They had to do something, call someone. She didn't like him as much as she used to, but she didn't want something like that to happen to him.
"Oh my God! Ok, have you called the Police? Have you gotten in touch with them?" Bayley said as she began pacing in her worry over her colleague.
"No, I haven't. They can't do anything. In fact, no one can, except one person."
"Ok, let's go find them. Then we can get back your stuff, what was stolen."
"It's not that simple. Because the person who can help me get it back is one Vincent Kennedy McMahon! The thing that was taken from me, stolen, stripped and removed, it's….. the Langston name!" he said as his tone went from low to high in seconds.
Bayley blew a huge sigh of relief as she saw that she was being played with, basically. She was thankful and angry that E had joked with her, happy that nothing was wrong, mostly. "Oh, thank goodness. I thought for a second something was actually stolen from you."
"Something was stolen. My last name! My family, my history, my legacy. Gone! Who am I? Where do I come from? How can I know these things without my last name?!" he said, full of passion and excitement. Bayley knew well enough that this was gonna get her nowhere, so she took her leave and continue her walk towards Pearce's office. She could still hear Big E ranting and raving about his last name being gone, as she turned a corner and lost sight of him. She didn't know what he was so angry about. At least he had a last name to lose in the first place. She had no such luck. ______________________________________________________________
Now she was there. Pearce's office was in her sight and she headed for the target. When she arrived at the office, she saw a familiar face waiting outside the door, a face she was very glad to see. Seth Rollins stood leaning against the wall by Pearce's office, scrolling through his phone, engrossed in it. For once, he was dressed quite modestly, opting for a dress shirt and jeans. This time, she'd be the one to say hello, instead of the other way around, like the other times today. She would get in at least one fulfilling meet up with someone before she went to the office. She walked up towards him and tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention, his eyes lighting up as he saw her.
"Hey, Bayley! Long time no see." Seth said as he hugged his former gym buddy. The two had been on separate brands since 2019 and even when Seth got to SmackDown, they hadn't gotten time to really talk to each other, life finding ways to keep them apart.
"Yeah, it's been so long. How have you been?" Bayley asked, eager to hear from him.
"Oh, you know. Life's been what it is. Tell you one thing. Being a dad is great. One of the best things that's ever happened to me." Seth said with a big smile on his face.
"I've heard. Congratulations! How is… she?" Bayley asked. Despite not mentioning the name, Seth already knew it was. Bayley had to admit it. There was still a soft spot for Becky somewhere inside her.
"She's doing great. She's such a badass, getting up in the middle of the night to check on the baby, feeding, changing. You name it." Seth said, a look of love in his eyes as he thought of Becky.
"That's awesome. Hey, has she ever forgiven me for the whole… hitting her with a chair thing?" Bayley inquired.
"Ahhh, you know, you two should sort that out. I think she has, but I can never be too sure. You here to go to Pearce's office?"
"Yeah, he called me for a meeting. Why do you ask?" Bayley questioned, intrigued.
Seth took out a pamphlet from his pocket and handed it to Bayley, excitement in his eyes. "That is my manifesto. Since my town hall meeting didn't go as expected, I forgive you for that by the way, I decided to actually put out my vision for the future of SmackDown in a physical piece."
Bayley flicked through the pamphlet as she took in what he had planned, most of which she did not agree with. He did use her as an example of excellence though, which she liked. "It's very nice, but what does that have to do with me and Pearce's office?" she asked as she handed it back to him.
"Well, I was hoping you could put in a good word for me there. I talked to him before and he said he'd consider it, but maybe you can fully get him on board. Come on, do an old friend a favor."
"I don't know, Seth. I really just wanna get in and out of there. Get back home and enjoy my day off." Bayley said as she was wary of taking on his request.
"If you help me out, I promise you will benefit from my leadership when I am fully recognized as being SmackDown leader." Seth told her as one last plea.
"Fine.. I'll try. I won't guarantee anything." Bayley said as she agreed to his demands, something he seemed content with as he left his position on the wall and walked off. She then walked into the office, finally getting her chance to attend this meeting she had tried to for the past 10 plus minutes. ______________________________________________________________
"Ah. Bayley. Come sit down." Adam Pearce said as he saw the Role Model come in. Bayley did as she was told and sat down, enjoying the chance to sit since she had been on her feet for a while. Finally, she'd find out what the special meeting was that he was so desperate to meet her in person for.
"You wanted to see me, Mr. Pearce?" she asked, trying to be polite as possible, so as to not make this situation more complicated or longer than it needed to be.
"Yeah. I've been reviewing your performance on SmackDown this past year, and I must say it has been superb. You've been a great ambassador for the brand and you were a lovely champion." Pearce told her, showering her with compliments.
Bayley, without really wanting to, started blushing at his words. No one really complimented her like that. With sincerity and with no malice. No one really did that since…. Sasha. So it had been a long while indeed. "Thank you, Mr Pearce. I appreciate the compliments. But I doubt you brought me here to just gush over me. But if you did, then by all means, continue." She joked with a smile.
"No, you are correct. I didn't bring you here to gush over you. It's something important, actually. I've been talking with the board of directors and they had been doing their own talks with the networks." Pearce explained to her.
"So what are you saying?" Bayley asked, getting intrigued.
"After much deliberation and conversation, we're thinking of moving you to R….," he said as his phone began ringing, "Let me get this, please. One second." Bayley nodded and waited patiently as Pearce had his conversation on the phone. "That was Vince. I need to step out. I'm gonna have to adjourn this meeting. We'll continue tomorrow."
"You're just leaving? After you made me come here all the way from my home on my day off?" Bayley questioned him, her temper raising as she realized her day had been wasted.
"I really am sorry. But once Vince calls, you gotta go. There's no making him wait. You know that." Pearce said as he began packing up his stuff. Bayley had no real leg to stand on there. She knew Vince's time was never to be wasted. He looked at his watch. "It's 4 in the afternoon. You have enough time for more stuff."
"Yeah, but it's not the same." Bayley said pouting. She'd take so long to get back into her comfortable position when she got back home. As Pearce was about to leave, she was gonna tell him about Seth, but decided not to. She was too annoyed right now, staying in the chair for a few minutes before eventually getting up and leaving the office. She took the long walk back to the car park, got in her car and drove back home. As she got inside, she simply shut her phone off and flopped onto her bed. No interruptions, no calls, no requests, nothing. She was gonna have the rest of the day to herself.

Just a quick update. 6 months post top surgery (roughly, 6 months was actually the 18th).
I got no nipple grafts. I’m planning on getting tattoos eventually.
Dr. Rukmini Rednam in Houston was my surgeon. Super pleased.
Pay no attention to my terrible chest acne. It’s the T.

A half-thought out eulogy because my heart and my mind is too full.
There's a picture I keep seeing on Twitter[1]. I will include the picture, but I must describe the picture, because in describing it, I re-inscribe it, I trace where it is etched into my soul, sharing the words it has carved into me.
It is of a man. His eyes are closed, face slack in a picture of pure peace. He is shirtless, and his hand is placed in the middle of his chest. You can see his top surgery scars. On his left arm he has a tattoo, a heart with mom inscribed across it and an arrow through it. Beautiful in its cliche. Light streams into the room he is in from a window. He has a small ring on his thumb, and a dangly earring hanging from the ear we can see.
I want to feel what he is feeling in this moment. I think I have felt what he is feeling in this moment, but if you've been there, felt this sense of peace and calm and simplicity, you'll know it's addictive. You'll strive for it. You'll want to feel it again.
In this moment, he is every inch himself. He is here, and he is queer, and he is beautiful. His name is Daniel Davis Aston, and he is frozen in time.
His name is Daniel Davis Aston, and he was shot dead in a mass shooting in Colorado Springs, at age 28, on November 19th, 2022.
When I saw this picture, I typed, "I'm so tired." I'm so tired of mass shootings and of hate. I'm so tried that on the Trans Day of Remembrance, a gunman put another name on the long list of names we already find ourselves trying to commemorate. I struggle to find words to describe the cruelty in this action or exactly how it makes me feel. It's a cold, nauseating thing, buried deep within my chest, perhaps exactly where Mr. Aston has placed his hand in this picture. It's black and slimy and insidious and crawling, no less painful despite the fact that this trauma, both nationwide and in our community in particular, has become commonplace.
The tweet says, referencing the photo, "[W]e will remember him like this: fearless, unashamed, full of life."
And we will.
We will. We will. We will.
But I'm so tired. I'm so tired of remembering.
Why do I get to keep seeing trans death, when all I want is trans life?
To live mine, with dignity and peace.
And to witness the lives of my siblings, smiling and laughing, and crying, but my god, living, living, living.
Tumblr media
[1] And don't get me started on Twitter right now, or the ephemerality of social networks and online communities, or how I'm only 33, but I feel like I've been through multiple epochs, seen the rise and fall of empires with names like Angelfire and Geocities, AOL Instant Messenger and Livejournal and Myspace. Look at these 404s, ye mighty, and despair.
(The tweet in question).

Hey guys. So, I’m fundraising for my top surgery. I’d appreciate any help I could get. If you can’t donate, spreading this post around would be a big help. And of course, if you can donate, any amount can help! Thanks for your time.

WRESTLEMANIA NIGHT 1 REACTIONS
I was hoping Rhea would win. She's a beast, she deserves to be treated as such. The best part of JD.
This is probably Truth's last run, so it's cool that they got the belts on him and Miz, and the other winners... well they make sense. Gotta have a heel team in the mix. Would have preferred NCR over Awesome Truth, but I can't argue it.
The Mysterio Family Feud match was kinda tepid. Dom needs to go over his dad at a PPV, this was the place to do it - kinda disappointed, really.
Was REALLY expecting Jimmy to win the Jimmy vs. Jey match. IT was alright. Not great, not bad. Coulda done more with the in-ring psychology. Strictly 'eh', but not bad.
I'm a LITTLE sad that Asuka and company are now suffering the Worf Effect, but I knew that Jade Cargill was going over. She's going to be dynamite eventually (pun unintended), and now she's pretty solid. Give her a year, she'll be melting faces. The match was what it needed to be, so overall no complaints (besides ASUKA LOSING).
Gunther vs. Sami... holy shite. Uh. Match of the night. Watch it if you haven't. Great psychology, great athleticism, great storytelling, satisfying all around, and I think I see what this is setting up for Gunther. Major kudos to Paulie for pulling the trigger here.
No surprises in the Cody/Seth vs. Rock/Roman match. Predictable ending. Was slightly surprised to see the announce team even MENTIONING the fact that Rock is kinda making this about him, which... yes, he is, 120%, and it'll be fun to see if that plays into Cody's win tomorrow. Rock can't really go quite as hard as he used to, the match was dragging in the middle (would have been better as a 35 minute bout instead of 50 with more intensity in the opening half) but the last 25% of the match was definitely worthy of the spot on the card.
PREDICTIONS NIGHT 2:
Final T beats Pride, giving us a reason to pay attention to Karrion Kross.
Styles beats Knight (Knight SHOULD win it, but AJ's approaching his final stretch, they'll go for the nostalgia pop to boost him before he calls it quits)
Orton wins US Championship and gives it a short run.
Bayley wins, goes 100% face again.
Drew beats Seth, selling the beating that Seth took last night and sowing seeds of doubt re: Cody.
If Cody doesn't win I stop watching WWE entirely. Like. I started watching again because Vinnie's gone. Because we CAN book well again. But if the payoff isn't there, why bother? Having Cody lose here would be like the theatrical ending to I Am Legend, compared to the original without the grenade.

AMA, Angle, Hype, Powerhouse, Dark Match, and Gimmick.
Angle(favourite storyline/s. Why?): The BCC is still a favourite. I love them being a violent little group who can shift in and out where needed and watching the bond form between them. Thea Hail in NXT being corrupted by Jacy Jayne is fun, as is Athena having Billie as her minion.
Dark Match(favourite non televised match): Going to guess YouTube doesn't count as televised. Any and all combinations of Claudio and Yuta vs The Workhorsemen on Dark/Elevation.
Gimmick(favourite or least favourite gimmick matches): I am a huge fan of gauntlet matches when they're done right. I don't know how many times I've re-watched the gauntlet match on RAW from Feb 2018 when Seth went over an hour. The Kofi gauntlet match when he failed to get his title shot. Then the tag team gauntlet with the New Day fighting for Kofi's WrestleMania dreams, the moment when The Usos forfeited was so huge.
Hype(overrated or underrated wrestlers): Going with underrated because let's be positive today. No matter how many tag titles he wins, Xavier Woods is underrated as a singles wrestler. Chad Gable. I'm putting Yuta on my list too even though some people might not agree since he gets a lot of TV time, but outside of Tumblr, I think his value and abilities are still underrated and they haven't even touched on all that he's capable of yet. For women, again, it feels weird considering her success but I think Bayley's value to the women's division is highly underrated. She's so unselfish, she's a ring general, and can almost always get a good match out of her opponent. Natalya too, she's been around a while and is always an option for a quick feud with a top star when they need one.
Powerhouse(Wrestlers whose strength amazes you): Chad Gable. The guy suplexed Gunther. Claudio is always finding new ways to impress with his strength. Jamie Hayter.

#414: Strengthening the relationship between Sales and RevOps with Bayley Fesler and Annie Jones from Xactly
According to Gartner, only 6% of Chief Sales Officers (CSOs) are extremely confident about their team's ability to meet or exceed revenue goals. This lack of confidence has a ripple effect throughout an organization, especially between the RevOps and sales teams who each believe they hold the best strategy to meet quota. Because of this, RevOps and sales teams often interact like vinegar and oil – they don’t mix well and struggle to see eye-to-eye.
How can we repair this relationship and encourage collaboration between the two departments? Today we’re going to talk about strengthening (and in some cases repairing) the relationship between RevOps and sales teams to drive revenue and re-energize sales teams.
To help me discuss this topic, I’d like to welcome Xactly’s Bayley Fesler, Director of RevOps, and Annie Jones, RevOps Business Partner.
CORRECTION:
In the introduction, Annie Jones introduces herself and says that she joined Bayley at Xactly 7 years ago. They actually started working together at Marketo 7 years ago, not Xactly. Enjoy the episode!

Woodward, and Michael Redman), leaving a company which is supposed to be 60, of actually only 37. Service Cards confirm this, showing that John Burke and William Devine were sick in an Annapolis hospital, that John Clare deserted from Annapolis, that William Gillaspie/Gilasby was sick in Philly hospital and Leonard Smith was sick on furlough, and having records of five who deserted at "Head of Elk": William Ewing, John Smith, Michael Streeker, Roger Sullivan, and Joseph White. Dakota Kai explains her inactivity after her dismissal from WWE
Tumblr media
Dakota Kai explains her inactivity after her dismissal from WWE: Dakota Kai explains her inactivity after her dismissal from WWE. After being WWE farewell in the NXT development brand. Female superstar Dakota Kai comments on why she didn't sign with another company and remained inactive, this until his rehiring in SummerSlam.
Dakota Kai explains her inactivity after her dismissal from WWE:
The new zealand Dakota Kai was being considered for promotion to the main roster earlier. however the plans changed and in the end ended up being fired from the company and so it stayed for a few months. who decided to give it a second chance was Triple H who brought her back by making her return at this year's SummerSlam alongside Iyo Shirai and Bayley. after his dismissal Dakota remained inactive and did not sign with any company despite having already passed the 30 days of her non-competition clause, during a recent interview for Ryan Satin on the Out of Character podcast, the New Zealand fighter talked about inactive time and not having fought during that period of time, this was what he said in the aforementioned portal. “That was always in the back of my mind, 'Should I be working on independent promotions and things like that?' I just didn't feel like rushing after the 30 days were up, obviously I had some conversations, but I think it worked a lot better for me that I didn't work, I focused on streaming and something that was more calming and something that made me I love it, everything worked out great and I came back to the company refreshed and with a good perspective on everything that happened instead of trying to be like, 'I have to do this, this and this.' Obviously that's good, but for me personally, I wanted to step back and look at everything, re-evaluate and make sure it's not even about the dates. I wanted to make sure in my own mind, that I wasn't trying to be like, 'I have to cash in on this' and 'after 30 days, I have to do this, this and this.' It was definitely a priority for me to care about myself and how I felt.” Currently Dakota Kai is part of the dominant Damage CTRL dominant faction with Iyo Shirai as female tag team champions and led by Bayley, her career on the main roster is on the rise again and at the top of the women's division. A Slept-On Review: WWE Smackdown 9/30/22
Tumblr media
Sami Zayn and Solo Sokai vs Ricochet and Madcap Moss
WWE was in Winnipeg, Canada, so we start out exactly how we should: our Honorary Uce, Sami Zayn. He’s tagging with Solo, which immediately made me so happy. Unfortunately, Ricochet and Madcap have officially teamed up. I just don’t get it. They’re still good wrestlers, though, and Ricochet is flipping Sami around for the first few moments. We get a hard drop from Solo, but eventually Madcap and Sami are in the ring together. Sami is absolutely mowed over by Moss, and Solo seeks a chair for retaliation. Sami is able to sneak in two close-call two-counts. In a beautiful move, Madcap rolls through a cross-body, but this is overshadowed by Ricochet just jumping right into the chair Solo is still holding. It made Ricochet look very, very stupid. Luckily, Solo gets back in the match and gets the pin on Madcap. Solo viciously continues to attack Madcap and is really protecting his new brother's honor. Even if I don’t like Madcap/Ricochet, this was very fun.
We cut backstage after a commercial and Jimmy was here, despite many, including myself, thinking he was not allowed out of the U.S. This very well could have been [re-taped, but if it was, it looked very believable.  He threatens Sami, but Sami is not having it anymore, stating Jimmy can “take it up with Roman”.
Austin Theory vs Drew McIntyre (Kind of)
Karrion threatens Drew in a very poetic video package, but backstage, Drew just threatens Austin Theory to his face.
Drew has the strap again, which still totally doesn't give me alternative connotations to WWE’s intended vision. Austin enters backed up by… Alpha Academy? I’m hoping this is because of the lack of talent available because I only understand this pairing slightly more than Madcap and Ricochet.  Drew was angry, and when Theory tries to run to Alpha, he gets dragged right back into the ring. Chad stops Claymore, but Otis causes a DQ directly by attacking Drew. Johnny Gargano to the rescue! This evens the odds slightly until we are also joined by Kevin Owens. The pop was incredible.
Backstage Segments
MMM are trying to set a Canadian record for the longest pose and is attacked by Hit Row. Later in the night, Max ruins the reattempted pose record, stating his anger and disappointment, and leaving the MMM. In another section, Sami and Kevin catch glaces and have a very sweet moment, Kevin’s only words being “You need a new shirt buddy” in reference to his new Uce shirt.
Los Lotharios vs Hit Row
Los Lotharios…icky, but they did do some cool tag work while flipping Adonis. Top Dolla not having it but still is joking while going after them. He makes it clear that he thinks he’s better than them. He’s right, and Hit Row gets a decisive pin.
Ronda vs Natalya
Everybody in the club is Canadian! Making use of nearby talent was a good choice to fill those restricted by Hurricane Ian, and making the crowd very happy. After Natalya has a very close two-count, Ronda takes the win. Liv enters with a baseball bat, and they start a full brawl. Ronda takes hold of the bat and threatens Liv as well as every security guard trying to stop her. Liv makes a comeback and both women have to be pulled apart to end the segment.
Imperium Promo
Sheamus enters, on his own. He fully acknowledges that the Brawling Brutes are stuck in Florida. Gunther and Sheamus exchange blows until Imperium functionally jumps Sheamus. His shirt ripped and chest covered in red, he drops a line that perfectly explains why I call him King:
"Is that all you got?!"
He still continues to get jumped, but ends the segment on his feet as Imperium leaves.
Shotzi vs Bayley
The tank!!! Shotzi’s tank is back! After her grand entrance, Shotzi goes after Bayley’s arm.
Shotzi still has that tinge of clunkiness, but there’s a lot of improvement. Bayley goes for the ladder, and sandwiches Shotzi in the ladder, but Bianca Belair runs in. Bayley narrowly escapes a KOD
Drew McIntyre, Kevin Owens, and Johnny Gargano vs Theory and Alpha Academy
I wasn't ready for these combinations when the episode started, but I like it. We’re making use of the bodies we have on hand, Kevin being an incredible human boulder, and Austin is a coward constantly. There even was a, dare I say, super kick party on Otis at ringside. Drew gets a Claymore on Theory for a satisfactory ending.
