Thancred's eyes widened as he turned to face Ryne, too stunned to even speak at that moment. Sure, he had his grievances when they first met - when he had heard that there was a child named Minfilia trapped in Kholusia, he had dared to grasp onto a sliver of hope that maybe it was his Minfilia. But alas, he found this poor girl caged like a feeble bird. He only did what he thought was right in rescuing her, figuring that he perhaps will learn the answers to his questions in time.

But to think that I would pretend to care...

His face went neutral for moment, his expression like stone as he silently reigned in his emotions. He will ever be frustrated with the way things ended in Ul'dah, but he cannot change the past no matter how hard he tried. It took him all this time to accept it and attempt to move on.

He let out a steady breath and knelt down before Ryne. "And why would you think that I was pretending?" he asked calmly. "If I truly did not care, I could have easily given you back to Ran'jit...but I didn't. I would never..."

He paused, pursing his lips slightly as he mulled over his words. "I will admit... I thought that by taking you in, I was atoning for past transgressions. Over time, however, I came to view you like my own... I do not regret a single action. You have grown into your own and I... I am proud of you, Ryne. So please, never think that I do not care at all."

I didn’t get the game on release, but I remember how packed Gamestop was after Christmas. I snagged the last PS3 copy...and basically it became an incentive to upgrade to the PS4 because the graphics were so wonky lmaooo.

My first inquizzie was a female Levellan rogue who romanced Solas (bad decision, I know), but I couldn’t bring myself to finish that playthrough. So I restarted with a male Trevelyan warrior and I honestly had a better time with it. The game got me through some tough times and several moves from apartments to houses, and I ended up clocking over 100 hours into the base game. I legit cried when I finally finished Trespasser lol.

I didn’t mean to get sappy, but this game (and the series) means a lot to me, so I hope Dreadwolf has the same magic and lasting impact as the previous games. Inquisition wasn’t a perfect game by any means, but it remains one of my favorites. <33

Last night I got high and wrote a program to find all of the unused elemental symbols. It turns out there’s 585 of them and it’s much less interesting the next day.

One interesting finding: I couldn’t be bothered to generate all possible one and two letter strings, so I asked ChatGPT to write me code that would do all that for me. It worked surprisingly well!

also i don’t think rapunzel’s greatest fear is losing cass as a friend, or even the black rocks taking hold of corona, whoever it may be at the helm. i think her greatest fear is not being able to do something about it. i think her greatest fear in general is feeling helpless, is feeling like she is not in control of her life and the outcome of it. leaving her tower, leaving gothel, was the most profound act of freedom she’s ever experienced — and may ever experience in her life. because it wasn’t her just exercising her rights to freedom, it was her gaining them. it was her gaining the first shred of control over her own life. it was her finally understanding that her decisions in that tower, her decisions for the first (film canon) 18 years of her life, were not her decisions. her favorite food isn’t hazelnut soup, it’s the first thing she eats when she leaves the tower. her favorite book isn’t gothel’s old and worn copy of shakespearean sonnets, it’s the book she finds arianna rereading over and over in the study during tea. the decisions she makes when she leaves that tower are the first steps on the road to control over her life that rapunzel didn’t even know she was missing. 

rapunzel doesn’t fear losing people, she doesn’t even fear people betraying her, because people have already come and gone, have already betrayed her. what she fears is being unable to do something about it, what she fears is feeling that first gut wrenching heartbreak as she realized she has never done anything.

Nevertheless, as he slowly turned his gaze, he could feel his heart pounding against his ribcage. He had spent so long repressing his feelings for the sake of everyone else, for holding back words and gestures out of fear of comprising the mission. And yet, upon meeting Urianger's beautiful eyes, it felt as though the very core of his being was about to burst.

Thank the Twelve they were alone at last.

"I know," he finally managed to say. "I had always known. And godsdammit...I have been wanting to hear it from you for so long. I guess I was just afraid that...I was going to lose you should I become too attached."

Clive...the light at the end of our dark tunnel. Where would we be without you?

I remember when you first walked into the cellar at Lostwing and I only noticed the Imperial armor you wore. If Cid hadn't held me back, the situation would've become bloody for sure.

But then I took one look in those blue eyes... It should be a crime to have such pretty eyes because I took one look and instantly knew that it was over for me. I tried not to fall head over heels for you, but dammit you make it hard to do so. But I had to focus on the mission, on Cid's mission, because it was more important. You've saved my skin more than once since then, and I don't know how else to repay you.

You always say that we have the power to defy our own fate, yet I believe that it was Fate itself that brought you here to us...to me. Never have I been more determined the walk through hell and back with you, for you. Never in my life have I ever wanted to devote myself wholeheartedly to one single person. I have many regrets, but meeting you was never one of them.
