Red’s nonverbal due to becoming insanely sick as a seven year old. Worse, nobody could figure out what was going on. It looked like his body was killing itself and shutting down, leaving him to bleed to death. The areas around his lymph nodes bled profusely as tissue dissolved and he went septic.
The suspected nature of the condition got Dr. Ohkido involved with trying to keep him alive, and it was a good thing that he did get involved. Ohkido’s Pikachu resuscitated Red when he flatlined in the hospital after ten minutes of trying to pull him back and stop his body from liquifying. Red was in the hospital for a month after, trying to recover, and then in-home care, kind of shady physical therapy for two more months. The damage done melted parts of his body. He wasn’t really able to move very much for those months.
Mom taught him how to sign, something she learned from home and her partner. Red taught Green how to sign when Green wasn’t furious at him for dying.

ff7 / chronology project
nzivvo timeline theories / part 1 & part 2 sleepezi comprehensive compilation deep dive
hello i am a slut for chronology projects and timelines, this is nothing compared to the comprehensive greek myth family tree project i’ve been neglecting building
timeline key / HUGE shoutout to the editors of the ff7 fandom wiki and their timeline(s), massively helpful -- backbone of this chronology version is a cross-reference between dated events in before crisis and crisis core: reunion
dates / ff7 compilation records 12-month calendar years in the format [era] - εγλ [year number] with calendar time measured in two-millennia eras; the years of which count upwards and end at 2000, at which point the following year begins the next era at 0001 -- for example, Zack is born [ μ ] - εγλ 1984, and Angeal dies [ ν ] - εγλ 0001
eras [ μ ] and [ ν ] = loosely, [ μ ] is the 2,000-year era preceding the Wutai War -- Jenova crash lands on Gaia at the start of this era and Zack, Aerith, and Cloud are all born at the end of this era; [ ν ] is the era in which most of playable ff7 compilation takes place, beginning shortly after the Wutai War
εγλ = for whatever reason part of the dating system, preceding the era year when writing the date; some fan theories interpret it as an abbreviation meaning “that which tells of this era of Gaia,” similar to the Christian “in the year of our Lord,” by analyzing the Greek letters that are used and suggesting that: ε could stand for εποχή (epoch, age, era), γ for Γαῖα (Gaia), λ for λέγω (verb, to tell a story)
FF7 TIMELINE / ongoing; as organized for fic (a)chronology of now
(going to eventually link little headcanon vignettes to various events along the timeline!)
canon = plain  headcanon = italics
[ μ ] - εγλ 2000 (Wutai War ongoing)
january
Zack promoted to Second Class
february
Aerith turns 15
late spring
Cloud leaves Nibelheim for Shinra recruitment in Midgar, fails basic screening for early SOLDIER program enrollment and is instead enlisted into the infantry (Public Security Division)
note / it’s a real struggle to pin down exactly what time of year Cloud leaves Nibelheim for Midgar, so after cross referencing a bunch of material, entries, timelines, canon events, etc. i’ve made the tweak here to shift it back a year from canon, ex. i find it hard to believe Cloud is assigned guard duty for a scientist carrying massive classified SOLDIER intel (before crisis: June [ ν ] - γ 0001) potentially only weeks after joining Shinra
august
Cloud turns 14
september
Zack turns 16
note / idk, this astrology feels good in the fan theories re: his birthday in September or October
Angeal, assisted by Zack, delivers a presentation on the SOLDIER program for new infantry upon completion of boot camp
fic vignette / Cloud is in awe of Zack Fair at the SOLDIER recruitment presentation
october
Rumors spinning about First Class SOLDIER Genesis deserting in Wutai, along with large numbers of Second and Third Class SOLDIERs
Hollander absconds with classified Science Division information
november
Zack dispatched to Wutai / Fort Tamblin with Angeal, stepping up to fill Genesis’ absence, where Angeal abandons Zack and Shinra to join Genesis
december
Zack accompanies Tseng to Banora Village to investigate Genesis’ disappearance, where they encounter both Angeal and Genesis
Banora Village is destroyed in an aerial raid by Shinra, wiping out and covering up Genesis’ base and operations
Rufus Shinra becomes Vice President, then goes on long-term business trip
[ ν ] - γ 0001
february
Wutai War ends, and Avalanche forms in Cosmo Canyon
Aerith turns 16
Mako production does not return to prewar levels, instead intensifying in some ways
Avalanche attempts to detonate Reactor 8 and assassinate President Shinra, but they are stopped by Sephiroth and the Turks
march
Public-facing information released saying First Class SOLDIERs Angeal and Genesis were killed in action
april
Zack promoted to First Class; Zack and Sephiroth defend Midgar from Genesis and his army, then head to find Angeal (and Hollander) at Mako Reactor 5
Zack and Aerith meet when Zack falls through the Sector 5 church roof, having been knocked down by Angeal from Mako Reactor 5; their meeting is interrupted when Zack is called back to the Shinra Building, where Genesis Copies are after Hojo
may
Shinra is getting a bit desperate with building SOLDIER ranks, and begin kidnapping to recruit
june
fic vignette / the first time Zack calls Aerith “Sunshine”
Cloud is assigned to a squad escorting Professor Rayleigh, a scientist transporting classified data on the SOLDIER program, as are the Turks; they’re jumped by Fuhito’s Avalanche, and the data is inevitably stolen
note / because of Cloud’s involvement with this event, as well as his surprising performance therein, and Shinra’s anxieties over building SOLDIER ranks, his SOLDIER application is pulled from the pool / bumped to the top for review
july
fic vignette / Zack and Aerith at Evergreen Park
Cloud is notified his eligibility for SOLDIER has been reconsidered and 6-month preliminary evaluations will commence immediately
notes / imagined SOLDIER program: details here
august
fic vignette / Zack and Aerith’s first kiss
Cloud turns 15
beginning / september
Zack and Cloud meet on the Modeoheim mission, overseen by Tseng; they discover Genesis Copies, Genesis, and Hollander; Angeal arrives on scene, intervening; Genesis falls into the Lifestream and Zack kills Angeal, inheriting the Buster Sword; Hollander is detained and taken to Junon
fic vignette / Zack asks Cloud if he wants to be friends
Zack gives himself a mourning scar
Tseng tasks himself with ensuring Zack and Cloud work together as much as possible
mid / september
Cloud and Aerith meet when Zack sends him to deliver some things to her
Zack turns 17
november
Zack mentoring Cloud during his SOLDIER preliminary evaluations
fic vignette / Zack and Cloud and marksman practice
[ ν ] - γ 0002
january
Shinra State of the Company event
fic vignette / the trio hooks up for the first time, part two
mid / january
Zack deployed with Tseng to a protest at ammunition factory not far from Rocket Town, Cloud and Dockitt accompany
Tseng returns to Midgar for emergency meeting; Turks send an operative to Icicle Lodge to support Second Class SOLDIERs Essai and Sebastian, finding Fuhito’s Avalanche base
Zack and Cloud are sent straight from outpost to Icicle Lodge, to help locate the missing SOLDIERs; Zack and Turk discover Fuhito’s experiments, including Essai and Sebastian, who are beyond saving and die in Zack’s arms; before the base detonates, Zack fights and kills Kyneugh, one of Fuhito’s Ravens
end / january
Cloud starts SOLDIER preconditioning phase I (weekly mako test injections)
february
Veld (Director of the Turks) is fired and replaced by Heidegger (Director of Public Safety), who sends the military instead of Turks when Avalanche attacks Junon
Aerith turns 17
Shinra holds a philanthropic gala to save face / rally support following the Avalanche attack on Junon
march
Cloud starts SOLDIER preconditioning phase II early (biweekly mako infusion) due to Shinra’s anxieties over SOLDIER ranks
april
Cloud discharged from SOLDIER program after second infusion causes reactive toxicity; behind the scenes, Tseng ensures he is not cast off to the streets or Science Department
june
Lazard deserts Shinra, expecting a whistleblower on his embezzling support for Hollander’s essentially anti-Shinra research
Zack sent on mandatory vacation, which is interrupted by Genesis copies; Zack sent to Junon from Costa del Sol, Cloud sent to Junon from Midgar, as Junon is under attack by Genesis copies helping Hollander escape; Sephiroth dismisses Zack from the fray, sends him home to protect Aerith from mounting monster attacks in Midgar
july
Lazard and Hollander are reported as killed in action
Genesis’ army begins to attack mako reactors around the world
note / this means more frequent and/or more intensive assignments for Zack and Cloud, but not always together; meanwhile, Fuhito and Elfe’s Avalanche is getting more and more pushy in their strategies
august
Fuhito and Elfe’s Avalanche try to kidnap Aerith before Shinra can get ahold of her again; a passing Turk protects her
Cloud turns 16
early / september
Zack and Aerith build a flower cart
mid / september
Zack turns 18
Sharp spike in monster sightings / attacks in Nibelheim area
end / september
Cloud accompanies Sephiroth and Zack to investigate the Nibel Reactor, during which Sephiroth discovers the makonoids, Jenova, etc.
october
Nibelheim incident: Sephiroth razes Nibelheim to the ground, Tifa is mortally wounded, Zack incapacitated, Sephiroth stabs Cloud and Cloud throws him into the open Lifestream reactor channels

Undead Reynauld Facts
He is a Candlewight, a spirit that becomes corporeal in the presence of a candle of the Flame.
The more candles he has? More capacity to do serious damage he has.
He needs at least one candle to stay existing.
Everything mortal about him will just STOP working if he doesn't have a candle. He'll just drop dead.
If he takes too much damage, the candle he does carry will go out.
He can re-ignite the torch bared with the candle he has.
The candle is of corpseflame. It won't catch things on fire without coaxing, and it is cold to the touch.
He'll melt these candles on his armor now, and affix prayer seals to the wax.
He died to the Heart of Darkness under the Hamlet when he begged Regulus to choose him as a sacrifice. Dismas seems to have taken one of his helmets and his sword. Junia, his prayer seals.

|| wriothesley's cryo powers have to be exerted through his gauntlets , otherwise they are wild and untamed, forming dangerously sharp icicles. this is because of the amount of damage his body has taken , his vision , over time , has been damaged as well.

Headcanon #9 - Anti Ecto Acts:
Not long before Danny was told he'd be crowned King the GIW (Ghost Investigation Ward or Guys in White) managed to get the Anti Ecto Acts passed, this bill that was passed away from the radar of the JL and JLD marks ghosts as Non Sentient. The reasoning behind this is largely based on his adoptive parents research in which they claim that ghosts are nothing more than an emotional imprint of a human who died to close to a large source of ectoplasm, rather than a human who's soul was turned into a ghost by dying either by traumatic means or close to a large source of ectoplasm.

He honestly has no idea how long he is going to live. Does being part ditto give you a longer life span or a short one? What all do we know about dittos? Questions he has for a certain pokemon professor he spoke with at the PWT.
I think he has the ability to live for a long time if he can stay out of trouble, but knowing him, he'll find a way to die again. Looking at getting eaten by black fog. Who's to say next time he won't be so lucky.

👀 - is your muse prone to jealousy?
questions for muse
Depends on context. Being jealous of the attention someone else is getting from someone he likes? No. That type of jealousy will almost never happen. Being jealous of a person? Yes, possible. He hated Thunderclash because Thunderclash was everything he wanted to be and he couldn't stand it. That can be called jealousy, though it's still more envy than jealousy.
So it's generally rare for him. And when it does happen, it manifests in acts of pettiness.

Silph Corporation Internal Report; Audio Recording
Saffron City || Date: 10/12/2022
Regarding the events surrounding the second manifestation of the entity, BLACK FOG.
On September 2nd, 2022, at approximately 12:07 AM, seven delivery personnel were admitted to Saffron South Prefecture Hospital after collapsing in a staggered fashion, but simultaneously enough, in the Silph Corporation Large Deliveries back lot, within the Silph Corporation headquarters building, 3-0929-7295.
The seven employees of the Punch Clock moving company exhibited symptoms of what would later be known as "Black Fog". Confusion, high fever, and excessive sweating as well as hallucinations were noted in all seven employees.
When put into an artificial sleep in order to manage symptoms, all seven afflicted persons died. The cause of death was determined by a coroner to be cardiac arrest, although later autopsy reports discovered hemorrhaging in the brains of three out of four subjects.
Notably, each subject prior to expiration exhibited rapid eye movement and twitching associated with dreaming.
The Punch Clock moving company had been tasked with the delivery of artifact codename: OVERSHADOW from shipping storage unit 5-6A in Lavender Town.
The artifact in question, OVERSHADOW is an 80 foot, 20 meter tall metal sarcophagus the size of a small shipping ocean vessel, weighing several thousand tons. The designs on it are of no analogous origin historically. The relief carvings of runes match no records. The sarcophagus depicts a grotesque face on the lid with gums peeled back and large flat teeth.
This metal sarcophagous was surprisingly intact, as prior Silph Corporation acquisition assets reported it purchased with the intent to destroy it by prior company president, Masuda Takahisa the Elder.
It seems that the sparse legends on the subject are true, and while there is a lengthy record of attempts to destroy OVERSHADOW, even the Silph Corporation, with its endless supplies and access, as well as creative thinkers, could not find a way to make even a dent in the artifact.
The piece is completely unique, sporting Damascus-like swirl patterns in each tiny piece of it, no one piece predictably leading into the other in terms of pattern. The architect of the project constructed it in hundreds of thousands of tiny pieces, and very clearly, not alone.
Despite this incredible engineering feat, there is no record of its construction either.
I as the now sole owner of the sarcophagus, am additionally surprised that psionic ability is unable to pull on the historical memory of the artifact either. This piece is without temporal memory by design.
It is very clearly designed to be forgotten on purpose.
What we do know about the sarcophagus, is that it was excavated during the reconstruction of Pokémon Tower, and additional pieces found alongside the Tower, urns that when exposed to air, crumbled to dust and tiny chips, date to over fifty thousands years ago.
There is no record that Silph does not have, of the entity that resides in, and is trapped by the Sarcophagus. In Lavender Town I do not think it is unusual that the citizens have had higher rates of sleep disturbances. Furthermore, I do not find it odd that the spiritual collapse of Lavender Town occurred centered at the resting spot of this dangerous artifact.
Silph's younger president, found to be a Mewtwo in disguise, masquerading as the son of Masuda, intentionally released Black Fog upon acquisition of the artifact in September.
Illnesses mounted within a week, and the number one cause of death in Saffron for a brief and startling moment was vehicular crash, spurred on by severe insomnia.
The incident lasted a month, and was much more severe than the first release of Black Fog.
Casualties were estimated to be between 5-6million civilians, leading to total economic collapse of the city. Property damages were even higher.
Responder turnover rate was astronomical and Saffron was quarantined. The Black Fog settled into the city, an unstoppable plague. I reached out to friends for help, as the leadership in Saffron quickly expired or was rendered unable to function.
The strike team was quickly picked from available specialists.
Strike Team: Viridian's Leader, Ohkido Green, Viridian's Ex Leader, Sakaki Giovanni, Medium Matsuba, of Ecruteak City, Piers, the Galarian Dark Specialist, Koga, Poison Master of the Elite Four, The Looker, Interpol Expat, and Nix, Oneirologist and inventor of the Silph Scope were chosen for their ability to function in the environment.
The strike team was to assist me in erecting disruption pylons within a prefecture of Saffron, hopefully trapping and eliminating the monster in the limits of the pylons.
The pylons were found to successfully disrupt the somnus effect of Black Fog, but were a temporary solution, and shorted out in its presence.
The team was successful, but not without casualty. Ohkido Green and Looker were killed by the creature and quickly resuscitated by Matsuba. The Black Fog was captured with a Silph Master Ball by Ohkido Green.
The Master Ball, although it contains the monster, does not successfully stop it from exuding ability over the area around it.
Ohkido Green has taken it upon himself to "train" the monstrosity, undergoing purification rites and cleansing rituals that haven't been seen even in our most devout mediums in a long time.
I do not trust this solution. Green is a human with a human lifespan. He can not outlive this monster.
Study on OVERSHADOW is necessary. Perhaps our ancestors left clues in the labyrinthian patterns that sprawl over this malevolent thing.

What People Think Happened…
When people think of The Trainer Red, the inevitable thing that crops up is the savant boy who at fourteen years old took on the equivalent of the Yakuza and used his unheard of pokemon prowess to chase Team Rocket out of Kanto. Trainer Red is a pop culture icon and Kanto’s pride, joy, and personal legend.
To the region, he represents the epitome of talent and power. He’s the “Kanto Flag Bearer” because in the public perspective, he saved the region.
He took on an impossible fight and he won. Since that point, and since his involvement, Red’s legend pushed the envelope of competitive battling, battling theory, and personal philosophies for trainers, despite the only real involvement he had in these things being “existing”. In the public perspective, Team Rocket was defeated because Giovanni was humiliated at the feet of a child.
To this day, Red’s upbringing, influences, and almost everything about his personal life has been embellished to the point of him not being so much a person anymore, and instead being a living idea. And people use him for that idea.
What Actually Happened…
Trainer Red’s takedown of Team Rocket started with a newspaper and watching Rocket owned police beat someone down with batons outside Mt. Moon. He charged the group with abject violence, only honoring standard battle rules when his opponent honored them. If any Rocket member threatened violence against him, he beat them down and sent them to the hospital. His pokemon were absolutely ruthless.
He caused incredible amounts of property damage, disrupted operations, and very narrowly killed members several times. Why? It began as a seed of revenge for what he witnessed in Pewter, and escalated more and more until it erupted in the Lavender Town incident with Marowak’s death. Red attacked Celadon Game Corner, and destroyed the entire operation in a brutal assault, culminating in a battle with Giovanni. Several dozen Rockets were hospitalized in the attack. Giovanni was defeated fairly and honored the rules of battle, escaping Red’s violence through diplomacy over luck.
Giovanni misinterpreted the stakes though, and left to Silph Co. The entire city of Saffron was taken hostage and Red detoured through Fuschia City in the meantime, thinking of what to do about this.
Eventually he decided to take Saffron back even if it meant his life, his resolve being to execute Giovanni himself, so no one else bore the burden. He attacked Silph Co. This is no exaggeration.
Red’s invasion of Silph was absolutely terrifying and with no holds barred. He beat every single operative in Silph without regard for traditional battle rules (as the orders to stop him negated the rules), and nearly killed several people. He came at Giovanni ready to die and without exaggeration kill the leader of Team Rocket.
The only thing that stopped him was the realization that to kill was the kinder and easier path, and although he was fully willing to kill Giovanni, he could not give him the excuse of being killed. Giovanni’s Nidoqueen tackled him out the top floor of Silph Co, and Red plummeted with Charizard in full view of thousands upon thousands of people.
Red had, in one fell swoop, shredded the reputation of Team Rocket. The public fully turned on them. He called the absolute wrath of the public eye and international police down on everyone involved. Team Rocket was defeated… at least, for the time being.
This violence is largely unknown to most people. But it’s there in the background. The real shocker was the age of the man committing it.

zack/aerith headcanon vignette
compiling on AO3
in which zack thinks about aerith alone in his room
june [ ν ] εγλ 0001
He thinks of all the ways she says his name and all the ways she could.
Zack.
High in pitch, even in tone, placing it between them like a flower.
Za~ack!
Lilted by laughter. Gilded with giggles.
—Zack!
Surprised. He’s given her a play-scare. He’s tripped in public. His name in her mouth pivots up halfway through, punctuated by a pout.
Zack.
Slanted down firm. Under her breath. He’s done something dumb, said something dumber. Sometimes one of the somethings is at least cute and she’s trying not to smile. Sometimes she’s the cute one and she’s flustered, she’s giving him a light shove and he’s laughing.
Za~ck!
They’re in the market. She’s calling a puppy back to her side. Her hand is on the back of his arm or her finger hooked in the loop of his SOLDIER belt.
Zack .
They’re leaning nose to nose in a contest of flirting stubbornness, daring the other to give in first.
Za—!
Half his name. They’re half-wrestling. She’s winning. Her hair is messy and her triumphant grin is the sun.
Zack.
When Tseng has just left. When Tseng is just arriving. When she knows more than he does.
Zack—!
He’s heaved open the church doors, she’s turning with a whip of the braid and eyes green as a wildflower ready to bloom.
…Zack.
Quiet, gentle upturn of a question with no answer yet. Face open like a cupped palm, her smile faint but as present as the heart line curling through the middle.
Zack?
Short, sweet, beckoning his attention.
Zack…
Breathy. Soft. Warm. The tension of a gasp in reverse.
Alone in his First Class dorm, he touches himself.

|| wriothesley was sent to meropide for a sentence in juvenile deliquency that resulted in the incidental death of a bystander . the regret over the loss of life and being found guilty for it depsite the accidental cause tied together with years of fights, with Gards and prisoners, shaped him into someone wanting to prevent the system from finding those who were "guilty" from unintentional crimes from paying the price as if they had been committed to the crimes. he is a believer in second chances... but don't let this idea fool you, he will not hesitate to rip that second chance away with his bare hands if need be.
