((When she's not helping at the shop or tearing up the mountain pass, Rin does like to sit down and watch classic anime shows. Akira, Redline, Initial D, any kind of action packed oldies...but she secretly likes gundam anime too. There's one or two model kits hidden under her bed she hasn't touched.))

((In her own story, she actually knew Kanji back when he was a kid. They were best friends until Rin had to move away and live with her aunt. The two became rather distant afterwards, and since Rin's view of Kanji has drastically changed. She's rather not fond of him much upon first meeting up with him again during the murder case. I actually had this whole thing planned out where they eventually make up before wintertime.

She also is very fond of her aunt. Although she may be a bit tough on Rin especially when she was raising her after Rin's parents died, she's incredibly grateful that someone in the family didn't up and leave her alone to face the world.))

[ 👻 ] if your muse were a fantasy creature, what kind would they be? why?

But during the murder cases, Rin really looks up to Yu a lot. A level-headed leader, someone who takes charge during tough spots, he knows how to rely on the strength of the others when it comes to difficult challenges, all when Rin has taken on anything on her own. The rest of the team are very much the same way once Rin gets to know them more and more.))

Marimo Inaba had fucked up.

Unfortunately, this is far from the first time this has happened.

Well, not this <i>specifically</i>, but Mo has more than enough experience with yellow and red-themed individuals beaming dialog into her brain from god knows where. That's why accepting the events that started all this was so easy. For all she knew, this was the anthpromorphisized manifestation ((A.K.A. a Will) of humanity's Desire giving her a test, showing her a world where she could have a decently paying career that didn't challenge her too much, yet left room for adventure. Or it was the manifestation of humanity's Will of Luck, placing her totally by chance in a scenario not built for her, but perfectly challenging to her specifically.

Well. It's not like being a magical girl helped that much in an office with nothing to fight, but with her burgeoning connection to humanity's emotional Wills, she does have a little influence. Luck gives her better choices than the initial two she'd been presented with, Desire helps her access hidden areas, Death giving her the ability to rewind unharmed to the same position (or so she has to assume, even if he's been awfully quiet lately), and Self...

Self may very well be The Narrator, or he could even be one of the acolytes of Self granted access to an array of its powers in exchange for unerring loyalty. Dealing with magic and human Willpower never gets less confusing.

But back to the present. After a few rather exciting go-throughs, she'd decided to go back to that first, perfectly-sculpted ending The Narrator was so obsessed with. After all, if she ever wanted to escape, it would do well to make him happy, right?

It seems like she's done that, even if it's coming at the cost of one of her lives. The thought of death by explosion isn't what makes her blood run cold (if the burn scars on the right side of her face and her right hand are anything to go by, fire isn't an unfamiliar pain to her), though. What makes her blood run cold is watching this individual reveal himself (itself? could Wills really be assed to take human ideas of gender into account?), and a version of himself entirely pleased to watch her writhe until her inevitable untimely end.

Except nothing is inevitable for Mo, not even Fate itself. Mentally cursing the peal of Desire's laughter that rings through her skull at that <i>particular</i> flip of her stomach at the sight of The Narrator's chosen form, she takes a slow step towards him, then another.

Her voice comes out level. Placating in the same tone she uses on angry customers at her old job. "I can tell you're upset that I ruined your favorite ending, but this doesn't have to end this way, uh... Mr. Narrator, sir."

The recent murders and the disappearances... People said they were linked, but Kanji Tatsumi was released unharmed and he was vastly different to Saki Konishi or Yamano, the MO’s didn’t correlate. He’d expect Yamano’s killer to be 20-35, male... But since the police didn’t want him involved because he hadn’t got his degree yet, he didn’t know the full details of the case yet. But it was enough to piece together that the abductor of Tatsumi was someone else entirely, likely an older person and the perpetrator could be either male or female in contrast to the telephone pole murders. He was stopped by a TV news crew... Why had he given that interview before, now every time there was a crime, they bothered him. “Mr. Kusanagi, you study psychology don’t you?” The reporter asked. God knows how many times he answered that one. “Yes, I attend the local university as a special student in their accelerated program.” That was a scripted response if there ever was one. He soon said his piece, that he couldn’t comment on the disappearances and sharing his theories would be inappropriate. He got home and slumped onto the sofa, grabbing his phone. Naoto would know what to do. [Text - Naoto] Any chance you can tell me how to avoid the media? I’m the closest thing Inaba has to a profiler, they keep bothering me... How are you finding the cases? Sending it, he poured himself a drink and kicked off his shoes before he heard a ring at the door.

Sure, he had a second job as a cook at Aiya for the night shift until closing, but acting as the Information Broker and gathering whatever information he could and giving his findings to the department where the man worked was what he did for them.

Carefully setting the mug on the side of the male’s desk, and lifting his own up in order to take a sip.

“Sir... have you been here all night again?” if the piece of paper that almost looked like it was stuck to his face wasn’t a clue, the jacket laid over him like a makeshift blanket certainly was.

Hi, Which Hyakuunin isshu poem is your favourite?

I guess it’s impossible to choose just one, so I will list a few with some thoughts.

In life, I tend reinterpret the poems in my own setting, but it is a personal freedom I take, and I keep it separate from my scholarly work. At different times, I find myself attached to different poems, and it’s usually the little things that remind me of a certain composition.

When I was living in Japan, in late autumn, when the air becomes dry and clear, I realized that I can see Mt. Fuji from my window. Whenever I saw it, Tago no ura ni (poem 4 by Yamabe no Akahito) poem that mentions Mt. Fuji came to mind and I grew very attached to it.

In spring in Japan, ume (usually translated as plums, actually Japanese apricots) bloom just around my birthday in late winter-early spring, so hito wa isa poem (number 35 by Ki no Tsurayuki) that indirectly mentions ume is one of my favorites. And the sentiment of coming to one’s old home is also very dear to me.

But to come back somewhere, we need to part ways in the first place, and so tachi wakare (poem 16 by Ariwara no Yukihira) is also a poem I remember often. It’s a parting poem but the feeling of security in “if I am to hear that you pine for me, like Inaba mountain pines, I will soon return” is very calming and reassuring.

And so are the ending lines of Yura no to wo (poem 46 by Sone no Yoshitada): yukue mo shiranu koi no michi kana – “I do not know where the road of love will take me”. In this world, uncertainty is ever-present, but choosing the path you love (the path of love, almost), doesn’t that give one something to truly strive for? Even when we are not sure where the path will take us, it is the journey we’re choosing then.

Annon-Guy: Aside from the Insulator (which can kill immortal beings), would Salem and Ozpin be concerned about Ragna's BlazBlue, Yu's Wild Card and Akatsuki's (and Blitztank's) Blitz Motor? Salem definitely sees Ruby as a threat and Ozpin sees her as a notable ally based on how the Silver Eyes harm the Grimm (and Cinder).

Okay in order:

Ragna’s Blazblue makes him a threat to the world via A. giving this easily-irritable punk the power to one-man-army his way through an entire military base via the power to heal via absorbing souls (which once again, is where Aura gets its power from), B. Can let him shatter someone’s soul, possibly even an immortal, as Rachel said that Noel becoming the Eye of the Azure made her immortal and that Ragna’s Blazblue could shatter her soul and kill her (not too sure if this would affect oz’s reincarnation or Salem’s Immortality), and C. is at risk of turning him into the world-ending monster known as the Black Beast, and we don’t know if Phenomenon Intervention can happen in Remnant and thus they can’t just rewind the clock and have a do-over.

This makes Ragna a potential threat to both, but also a possible Boon to either side.

If Salem were to play her cards right she could turn either Ragna against everyone else or everyone else against each other via Ragna.  Unlike Terumi’s manipulations and plans which make him go all “IT WAS I TERUMI! HATE ME BITCHES!” due to his general assholeness and hatred-based-existence, Salem uses others and makes people point fingers at each other, she stays in the shadows. Also not helping is Ragna’s poor attitude towards other people most of the time and him being an SS Class criminal/mass murderer which means him being an ally of Oz and the gang isn’t on the table, especially since mowing down a stronghold to get to something hidden in the basement is KIND of his MO, Ozpin might get worried about how Ragna would treat the Maiden power.

Yu’s Wild Card is on the opposite end of the spectrum. Yu is well-liked by pretty much everyone, whether this be due to Inaba’s small-town setting or Narukami just being the most charismatic Chad ever, his Wild Card in the main persona games just allows him to wield multiple Personas that get stronger the closer his relationships with others become, but in Arena, it just seems to be Power of Friendship power boost. Either way, with Izanagi-no-Okami possibly being near a god in power if Izanami’s line is to be believed, then he’d be a tremendous threat against Salem, especially with his power of truth.

Yu and the Wild Card’s whole thing is to carve a persona, hah, or multiple that make them into the most likable guy around, every girl wants to fuck them, every guy wants to be them, and maybe even also fuck them depending on the guy. Yu as a wild card was made to be such an “I am the center of the universe” kind of guy. He is essentially Mr. Perfect.

I don’t know jack about Akatsuki Blitzkmapf’s deeper aspects of its story due to the game not being localized or translated, but to me, the Blitz Motors are the least impressive thing in all these crossover worlds. I compare it to the Artificial Causality Phenomenon Weapons, the Science version of the Nox Nyctores and predecessor of the Idea Engine made by Kokonoe. A scientific device that gives someone incredible power, but nowhere near the might fo a mystical powerup/weapon. Not too sure if Watts could replicate it since we haven’t seen the extent of Watt’s engineering, and his programming skills have only been shown against Atlas code, which he helped write. And he couldn’t hack into the updated code, he needed to get Jacques onto the council so he could get a backdoor into the new system. SO Watt’s hacking prowess only comes with code that he himself has experience with.

adding in these foreign elements to their conflict definitely tilt the scales in either one’s favor if they play their cards right.

Look! A multi-purpose long-form post!

I’ve been thinking that, in this new decade, it might be interesting to try some new things. One thing that I thought might be interesting was trying out the whole collaborative writing thing. I don’t really know anyone in the writing sphere so even if I don’t end up finding a fun writing partner for whatever reason it might be nice to meet a few people regardless.

The other thing is that I have a ton of fic ideas, but you all know I’m not a very prolific writer, so there’re all just stagnating in my docs. I don’t really have the patience to weed out the ones with substance and make some sort of prompt list on AO3 or whatever, so I’m just going to throw out all the categories and if anyone is curious just hit me up. (That goes for collab and prompts.) Two stories are better than one, and one story written by someone else is better than an idea rotting on my laptop because I’m lazy.
