Fernando Alonso - I Love My Grandpa
Wow it feels like this series is flying! After this chapter, we only have two more to go. Like – that’s crazy to me, never would have thought that one simple story idea would lead to something like a multichapter work with spin offs and extras! This one might be a little bit shorter so I apologize! I’m honestly just trying to get back onto the next chapters!
All of you readers have helped me get to where we are with this entire work and I promise to be a good author!
[TAG LIST IS CLOSED]
Like always, comments, questions, concerns, reblogs, and likes are appreciated! Much love <3
You sighed as you walked around the paddock. Bored out of your ever-loving mind. Max was off in some meeting, Charles was hidden in the Ferrari garage (one you hadn’t found out how to infiltrate, the Italians are menaces to societies), Lando and Oscar are late, Alex decided to go off with Lily and NOT invite you, and Logan was sleeping. Which, in hindsight, was probably what you needed to be doing, but you were restless.
You’d been out of the car for one of the small breaks and were just itching to get back into driver. But no.
You were stuck in the paddock.
Alone.
You thought about bothering Mitch, but like most adults, she was working for the race this coming weekend. Boo-hoo. You knew that Christian could give you something to do, but that would mean an old lady job like filing. Or honestly, it wouldn’t but you didn’t want to give Christian any ideas.
Now, you were stuck, scrolling through one of your multiple social media apps, on the hospitality roof. Your headphones were on, blocking out the world. You swiped out of Instagram and clicked on TikTok.
Maybe you should have bothered the social media personnel. They seemed to always look for drivers to make new videos. You quickly stood up. If they wouldn’t find you, you would do it yourself. Glancing over the railing, your eyes danced along the grid. Who could you approach and force to make a TikTok with?
Your eyes widened at the sight of the emerald green that flashed below. A smirk grew on your face as you quickly left the roof to go down to the pitlane. Once out in the sun, you made your way over the garage.
You knew better than Max to wear the Red Bull clothing on days that it was not needed. So you blended in, kind of. You glanced around for the one driver that you knew would make a video with you. He wasn’t named “public figure of the year” for nothing. Even though it was only for Spain, it still counted.
You walked up to a group of mechanics, suddenly feeling confident.
“Do you know where I could find Fernando?” your voice echoed through the empty garage. They suddenly stopped what they were doing and looked at you. You felt small under their gaze, but held eye contact.
One of them sweetly smiled and said that Fernando should be watering plants around the pit. You quickly thanked him and left the garage, a tight grip on your phone. You would get this video and be TikTok famous.
Your only goal in life.
You snorted at your thought. That was definitely not your goal in life, but it was one of them. Looking for the Spaniard was harder than you thought. You thought you had gone to every single garage on the planet, and he was nowhere to be found.
At one point, you ran into several of the other drivers. And when you say ran into, it was quite literally. It wasn’t your fault that Max decided to step in front of you when you were speed walking past Red Bull.
The impact was more than you thought, as you found yourself on the hot asphalt. You gazed up at the Dutchman, sun getting into your eyes. You pulled yourself up and stood next to him. Max still looked as though he was recovering from your hit.
Before he could say anything though, you blurted out, “Have you seen Fernando?”
Max had a bewildered look on his face. Why would you be looking for Fernando? From behind you, Charles suddenly appeared, eating what you think were some sort of chips.
Right, Max never went anywhere without Charles and Charles never went anywhere without Max. Maybe for secret Santa, you’d get them one of those giant shirts for them to wear.
Through his bites, Charles managed to get out, “I saw him earlier at hospitality.”
You clapped him on the shoulders. “Good man. Thank you.” You quickly reached into his bag of snack, grabbed whatever your fingers could feel, and dashed away, stuffing your face.
The Monégasque and Dutchman just stared as you bolted from the both of them.
“What was that?” Max asked, as Charles looked down at his bag with whine.
“She took the last of my snack.”
Max shook his head. “Come on. We’ll get you more snacks. Red Bull doesn’t go over cost cap on catering for nothing!”
The two drivers disappeared, leaving the various employees questioning what they just witnessed.
As for you, you were still on your journey. You climbed the stairs once again, putting yourself right back where you started. And low and behold.
There he was. In all his glory.
Watering the plants?
He must have sensed your presences, or heard you gasping for air since you took the stairs. But you wouldn’t talk about that.
He sent you a welcoming smile and beckoned you over. You gingerly stepped closer to the plant that he was showering. You cocked your head, not knowing what else you were supposed to do. Your eyes were wide as you looked at the nice flowers that had bloomed. You decided to talk first.
“Do you water all of the plants?”
A deep chuckle escaped Fernando’s lips. He had watched you look with a puzzled face.
“Not all of them. Just the ones that look like they need something extra,” he gave you a wink before turning back to his task. You took this moment to look around. At the opposite edge of the roof, there was a smaller plant that looked as if it had seen better days.
You grabbed one of the water bottles that Fernando had near him and opened it as you cracked the seal. You carefully poured the water over the small plant. Watching, you noticed how the dirt seemed to just drink it up.
This was actually pretty nice: having to share a quiet space with someone. You made your way over to a few more plants before walking back over. It seemed as though Fernando was done as well.
You went to speak, but was interrupted with a growl from your stomach. Quickly looking at your phone, the time shocked you as it was already past lunch. Fernando quietly laughed.
“Lunch?”
You grinned widely at the suggestion. The two of you made your way down to the hospitality cafeteria. It was pretty empty, since the lunch hour had passed for multiple people. You walked up to the line, ordered, grabbed your food, and found a nice table near the back by a window. It reminded you of the first lunch you had with Mitch.
Fernando sat across from you. You liked his energy.
“So,” he spoke first, “I heard from one of my mechanics that you were looking for me?” He raised his eyebrow.
Your cheeks flushed as you bit into your sandwich. You quickly swallowed to answer. “Uh, I was bored and I wanted to make a TikTok. But everyone was busy, so I thought I’d try to find you.” Your shoulders raised in a shrug.
You found yourself doing that quite a bit.
The Spaniard looked at you. “You couldn’t find someone younger? I’m just wondering why you’d come to me first?”
“Well, uh, there were some mechanics not working, but I really judge people of how I feel around them. They kind of gave off a busy vibe that I didn’t like. But you have more of a calm, grandpa kind of vibe.” You sipped your water. “I mean, if you thought that your career in Formula 1 being longer than Oscar has been alive, it’s worse with me. You’re 24 years older than me.”
Fernando looked like his body took a screen shot.
You quickly put out your arms, trying to console the driver. “I didn’t mean it in a bad way. It’s nice to have someone who’s older. I really looked up to you as a kid, and I still do.” You twisted your fingers nervously and Fernando could see that.
“It’s not an issue niña. I’m honored to have someone like you that looks up to me. But let’s maybe not talk about the ages.” You giggled quietly as his scrunched face.
“It’s kind of hard not to think about it when everyone calls me kid,” your face also scrunched, same as Fernando. “I’m glad that Oscar and Logan don’t do that, but even Lando has started.” You pretended to cry. “He’s only 3 years older.” Your head hit the table.
He kind of just watched you go through the five stages of grief. If there was one thing he knew about kids, it was to just let them go through the motions. Your head quickly shot up as you took inhaled.  “Can we make a TikTok now?”
A small laugh left his lips. “Sure, we can. Did you have an idea?”
Your hands reached for your phone, unlocking it quickly.  “Uh, I had a couple of ideas, but, I think one would be really funny. I’ve been seeing some comments about how you act like our grandpa sometimes, so this audio would be funny, even if it says dad.”
You played the video, the voice filling the space around you. “I get it you’re all fatherless…I’m not, I love my dad.”  Fernando let out a chuckle as your eyes lit up at the funny sound.
You continued, “I’d just put words over it so that it would say ‘grandfatherless’ instead.”
“Sounds like a good plan.”
The two of you left the cafeteria to film the segments of the video. Because of time change and wherever you were in the world, it got a bit dark while you were eating. You carefully filmed your part a couple of times before it was deemed acceptable. You guessed that Fernando had done a lot of these because he was basically a pro.
You captioned it “Honorary Gramps” and posted it with Fernando’s approval.
Before you knew it, Max had come to get you.
You went to leave, before turning around and jumping to give Fernando a hug. “Thanks Grandpa-Nando.”
You stepped back to walk away with Max, who had a smirk on his face. He called back to the older man.
“Does this mean we get to call you that?” Max bit back a laugh.
Fernando shook his head. “Absolutely not.”
You whacked Max on the shoulder, “Hey, that’s only reserved for Red Bull’s golden child.”
Max had a weird look on his face. “I thought that was me?”
You shook your head before walking past him. “You have so much to learn Maxy. Let’s go find Christian.”

TW: Descriptions of Violence, Mentions of Cannibalism
Tags: Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen x Atreides!Reader, Arranged Marriage, Eventual Smut, POV Second Person, No use of y/n, Original Characters, Canon What Canon
Word Count: 2.3k
A/N: Not proofread!! Holy moly. Here it is, folks. The scene that inspired this whole fic. I had fun writing this so I really hope you enjoy it. Once again, I appreciate everyone who likes, comments, and/or leaves kudos so much. I really started this fic for myself but good golly, that dopamine rush whenever I get a notif might be more addicting than spice. I'm glad to be part of the bald man brigade.
Also, I can't believe I'm only now questioning why I decided to write this in the second person? I guess maybe I thought this fic would be a lot shorter and not that deep, lol. At this point 'y/n' probably has enough personality to just be a straight-up OC. It's funnier because I don't even find second-person or y/n fics any more engaging either. I always detach myself by giving 'y/n' her own name and only seeing her as a character in the fic.
ANYWAY, sorry to ramble. Stay safe and have a good one, ya weirdos.
Tumblr media
You step out into the dark cul-de-sac of the guest hall, illuminated only by the large suspensor lamp in the middle. Feyd-Rautha looks you up and down, seemingly entranced by how the dim light casts his shadow on your modest dress. Atreides green, he recognized.
"Trying to sneak into my rooms again?" you say arms crossed, leaning on your door. "I didn't appreciate the last time, by the way."
"It's my house," he says cooly, "and I did knock this time."
You stare at him indifferently.
"Quite the display from you yesterday morning, using The Voice on me." His voice low and raspy, "I should have you drawn and quartered."
You scoff in his face. "You almost choked me to death. Are you trying to start a war?"
He takes a step closer and his face is inches from yours, you can feel his breath on your cheek, "I didn't think I'd like you this much, little hawk."
"What do you want, Feyd-Rautha?" you had no patience for him right now.
"Ah," he steps back, a dark smile on his face, "I've been waiting to hear my name from your tongue." His hand reaches for your lips. "I've grown quite tired of 'na-Baron'."
You grab his wrist before he can touch you. "If you're only here to toy with me, I would rather be left alone to prepare for bed." You release his hand and turn to open your door.
Feyd-Rautha props an arm against the doorway to block you. "We're to be married in three days," he says, "and I just can't seem to bring myself to let go of my 'harpies', as you called them." He meets your gaze. "You said you'd kill them. Did you mean that?"
You look up at him with steely eyes. He towered over you but your heart felt no fear, "Yes."
His coy smile returns. "Good. Come to my training hall tomorrow," he says, walking away.
"What?" you call after him.
"Dress to fight," he says over his shoulder. "I want to see what you can do, Atreides."
Tumblr media
You needed no help from Zora in putting on a loose shirt and long pants. The plain beige outfit certainly wasn't as elegant as the dresses you had been wearing so far. But it was comfortable and you could fight in it, which was all that mattered. Still, you look yourself in the mirror. The soft, airy fabrics draped over your figure well but perhaps you were not in the best shape as you once were. Your muscle mass is much less than your brother's and he wasn't particularly built himself. You admit you did wane off your training sessions with Gurney and Paul leading up to your departure from Caladan. Nevertheless, you were still a skilled warrior. Another secret you've been keeping from the Harkonnens.
You were 14 when you started learning the blade. Watching Paul, 2 years your senior, practice with the Atreides Warmaster lit a fire in you. You didn't hesitate to pester your father to let you train with them and of course, there was nothing he could deny his darling daughter. You were a fierce and determined student. Gurney Halleck was a man you genuinely believed to be one of the best fighters in the Imperium, along with Duncan Idaho. Gurney would train you and Paul on even days. On odd days, your mother would teach you the Weirding Way. These lessons, much like the rest of your mother's teachings, your father wanted to know nothing about. After becoming decently adept at Prana-Bindu and gaining almost complete physical control of your body, Lady Jessica insisted that you also be skilled in the Bene Gesserit style of combat.
You were far from mastery in either but the combination of both trainings made you a formidable fighter. Despite this, you could never seem to beat your brother in a sparring match. A fact that frustrated you to no end, though you appreciated that Paul never went easy on you. You'd always blame it on him having trained for longer than you have. But in truth, you knew there had just always been something special about him.
"Are you ready, my lady?" Zora's soft voice wakes you from your thoughts.
"Hm? Right. Yes, let's go." You quickly tie your hair out of the way and grab your father's dagger from atop your dresser.
Tumblr media
There was no fanfare when you entered the hall. On one end, the na-Baron's concubines sat chained on the steps of the shallow recessed pit in their leathers, their glares piercing through you. Your eyes linger on them as Feyd-Rautha and his Warmaster greet you.
"I was starting to think my lady bride was bluffing," Feyd-Rautha says as you approach him. The older man beside him offers you a polite bow.
"Perhaps she wasn't so keen on your brutish games," you bite back. "Your lord uncle won't be joining us?"
"No," Feyd-Rautha crosses his arms, "but he'll be hearing about your victory. Or your demise."
"Right. Well, I assume you'll be releasing them from those chains," you nod towards his pets "Not sure why they're necessary."
"Oh, trust me, little hawk. They're necessary." Feyd-Rautha motions to a servant.
"Your blade and shield, my lady," they bow, presenting you with a knife and a small device you recognize as a Holtzman shield.
"I've brought my own," you unsheath your father's dagger. You contemplate taking the shield but remembering that the na-Baron forwent it during his gladiator fight, you decide to do so as well. "They've no weapons anyway, the shield seems pointless."
Feyd-Rautha shrugs, "If you insist."
You take a deep breath, "Let's get this over with."
You lightly stretch as you walk down the steps of the shallow pit to stand opposite the na-Baron's concubines. You had come into this on the pretense of righteousness. For Iassa, you told yourself. But you've known her a mere two days. A part of you wanted to show off. You were good and you knew it. You could probably kill anyone in this room, even Feyd-Rautha. You craved the respect of the people here: the Harkonnens, the people of Geidi Prime. You figured this was one way to get it.
Feyd-Rautha walks around the pit to one of his concubines and kneels to whisper something in her ear. You assume a fighting stance when he moves to release her from the chains. When you meet her eyes, they are filled with feral bloodlust.
Suddenly, you weren't so bold. The veil of courage you have maintained since you arrived, even when Feyd-Rautha had your neck in his grip, is torn apart when you face this woman. You could tell no part of her would hesitate to rip your throat out with her bare teeth. You were almost relieved they were unarmed, but you weren't sure if that would make them any less lethal.
Fear grew in your chest and you had less than a moment to recite the Litany in your head before the concubine lunged at you.
You crouch down in time and slash at her abdomen as she approaches you. You turn to face her on the other side of the pit and she wastes no time in attacking you again. She attempts to grab your armed hand but you take hold of her wrist first and move to pin it behind her back. Quickly, your blade drags across her throat and she falls to your feet.
The kill has not yet registered in your mind but your heart is racing. You can almost hear your blood coursing through your veins. You held your arms outstretched, your eyes focused ahead, ready for the next one.
Across the pit, Feyd-Rautha licks his lips, smiling as he releases his second concubine. This time, you walk toward her while she moves to attack you. You clock her head with the pommel of your dagger and knock her a few steps back. She reaches a hand to wipe the blood beginning to drip out of her nose. After examining it, she snarls and bares her sharp teeth at you. Your mind is blank now. She dodges your first slash then manages to land a blow to your jaw. You seethe from the pain. You spit out the mixture of blood and saliva filling your mouth. The anger at the hit drives you to rush at her. Seeing an opening, you duck down to her waist and stab her twice. As she falls to her knees, the look of determination doesn't leave her eyes until the very last moment.
When you turn around, Feyd-Rautha has already released the last concubine. The ruthless scream she lets out disorients you. She pounces and knocks you over. She straddles you and pins your arms to the ground, your blade sliding inches away. She screams again in your face at the death of her sisters. You wedge your right knee between you and her abdomen, the only thing keeping her teeth from reaching your throat. You grunt as you struggle to free your hands. In your periphery, you see Feyd-Rautha, wielding his own blade, take a step into the pit.
"GET BACK," you roar, and he is powerless to refuse.
You turn back to your opponent still on top of you and you butt her head with your own. She loosens her grip and you kick her off to hastily crawl to your weapon. When she reorients herself and attempts to grab you again, you hook a knee under her arm and flip the both of you over. With your weight on her chest and both your knees pinning her arms down, she thrashes underneath you, claws digging into your right ankle. You take your blade in both hands and her screaming is silenced when you sink your knife deep into her heart.
When you rise, the room is quiet. Your chest heaves. The stark white ceiling lights don't help the lightheadedness that begins to wash over you in the post-adrenaline rush. Feyd-Rautha says something from behind you but his speech is garbled as you reel from the thrill of what just transpired. You were electrified. You almost... wanted more.
Then, the realization of the revolting scene you are in settles upon you and you are knocked off your high. You look at the leather-clad bodies scattered around you, the grotesque way they lay on the floor, the red blood pooling around them made brighter by the sterile grayness of the room. You did this.
A hand on your shoulder snaps you out of it. In reflex, you turn and raise your blade at the offender.
Feyd-Rautha holds his hands up, "Whoa, easy, Atreides. Trying to kill me? Don't want to start a war, do you?"
You yield your weapon. Your eyes dodge his as you look to your feet and try to steady your breathing.
"Enjoy your first taste of blood?" Feyd-Rautha says, the look in his eyes indecipherable to you. He raises a hand and swipes his thumb on your cheek. It comes away covered in crimson.
You gasp and reach for your face with your own hand. You don't even know if it's your blood or theirs, or when it got on you. Your heart pounded, unable to decide whether you were repulsed or proud.
"Look at you," he says licking the red off his finger. You could not help but stare at him through the strands of your hair that had come undone in the fighting. "You're beautiful like this," his hand reaches for your face again.
"No," you say low and quiet when you swat his hand away, "you're sick." You didn't know if you meant him or yourself. You calmly turn to leave. No one stops you when you make your way up the shallow steps of the pit. As you pass Iassa—no, Zora—by the doorway, you tell her flatly, "Prepare a bath."
Tumblr media
You had never taken a life before. Today, you took three. You were glad you didn't know their names. You decided you'd never find out.
After Zora pours a final pitcher of hot water into the bath, you tell her, "You may go. I'll dress myself later, thank you."
She bows and makes her way out of your rooms.
In your solitude, you bring your knees to your chest. You had been quick to wipe the blood off your cheek before you even reached your quarters. Now, you cup the water into your hands and rub it into your face, the slight sting of the heat comforting you.
He was a cruel man, your betrothed. This is what you've decided. Having you kill the concubines he claimed to want to keep so much. But wasn't it you who threatened to kill them? He started it, you argue with yourself, when he had Iassa killed. You felt like a child.
When you used to hear of Feyd-Rautha's exploits, you had to mask your disgust. And yet now, you had killed so easily in that pit as he had in the arena. What was this place doing to you?
When you left Caladan, Paul had never killed anyone either. You wonder if he ever does, would he feel the same exhilaration you did when you slit that first concubine's throat. No. Your brother was fierce but, like your father, he had a good heart. You beat him by three. You hoped it would stay that way.
You think about your future here, marrying Feyd-Rautha. Producing heir after heir under the Baron's watchful eye. You were a broodmare. Despite all your fancy training and education. Despite your little demonstration earlier. It was the bitter truth.
You missed home. You missed walking along the beach at night with your father. You missed your mother's gentle hands brushing your hair. You missed the banter and teasing with your brother. You missed Gurney, and Duncan, and the cold breeze on your balcony, and getting to roam free and going anywhere you pleased. When the tears come, you sink deep into the bath so they might fade away in the water.

Over the last week, I decided to go ahead with bookmarking all the fics I've recommended over the years on AO3 since I abide by tumblr poll results always (and man pour one out for all the fic that never made it to AO3 or has since been deleted, sooooo many gems lost to time!) and it was a bit more than the ~3,000 I was expecting:
Tumblr media
Hopefully, this will be easier than browsing the hundreds of recs posts I've made, since you can filter for any of the author's tags now! These are mostly focused on Star Wars and DC fandom, but I did my time in the anime mines and occasional tours through some TV fandoms or movies. You can dig into everything unfiltered and start your own filtering, or the bigger fandoms you'll find:
MAJOR FANDOMS: Each of these should have 100+ at minimum and, in the case of Star Wars, literally almost half of them are in that fandom. Look, Star Wars fandom might be a trash fire in a lot of ways, but it is ON FIRE with some good fic. (Older bookmarks not guaranteed to match my current sentiments, especially re: the Jedi, but they did catch my fancy at that point in time!)
STAR WARS: - All Star Wars -OR- All Star Wars minus the Obi-Wan/Anakin ship - OR- Nothing BUT Obi-Wan/Anakin
BATMAN/DC: - DC can sometimes be tricky, but you can do a Batman* search and get most of them (though, sometimes Nightwing* or Young Justice* or Superman* will catch some of the others). Honestly, though, you might want to just do a search for what character or dynamic you like and have fun from there, because otherwise you're getting a face full of my Dick Grayson Is The Center Of The Universe And I'm Making That Everyone Else's Problem agenda. ;)
MARVEL/MCU: - Marvel* will probably get most of the various properties, though you may want to filter for Defenders* or Guardians of the Galaxy* if you're interested -OR- Marvel* without the Thor/Loki - These focus a lot on the Thor* fandom if you want to witness the results of like 8 years of constant voracious reading in that fandom (Minus the ship), because, seriously, I read a LOT of Odinson family fic. - Bonus, just do a search for Maximoff* to find some really good X-Men: First Class-verse because, listen, I have been ALL ABOUT the Maximoff twins since long before the movies or MCU brought them over and I will DIE ON THE HILL of "Marvel, make Magneto their bio-dad again or I'm never reading another comic of yours ever".
TOLKIEN/LORD OF THE RINGS/SILMARILLION/HOBBIT: - Tolkien* -OR- Hobbit* -OR- Lord of the Rings* searches will turn up most of my Elf-hunting, I primarily focus on the Sindar Elves, but look I can't resist my problematic Feanorian faves or that I will die on the hill that Fingolfin is the best ever. (You have NO IDEA how sad I am that so much fic on Stories of Arda or FFNET is not easily bookmarked on AO3, sob. I externally bookmarked a few of the bigger ones, but sooo many shorter faves are missing from my recs tag.)
CLAMP: - X/Tokyo Babylon legitimately bums me out because it's not a huge fandom and yet so much of what was written was pre-AO3 and lost when CLAMPesque went down or was never brought over from Livejournal, yet this fandom (well, the Seishirou/Subaru pairing) still burns brightly in my heart.
MINOR FANDOMS: Ones that probably only have under 100 bookmarks (often around the 20-30 bookmarks range), but will at least give you a place to start! ANIME/MANGA: Bleach | Cardcaptor Sakura | Dragonball | Finder no Hyouteki/Viewfinder | Katekyou Hitman Reborn! | Kuroko no Basuke | One Piece | Sailor Moon | Madoka Magica | Naruto | Princess Tutu | Trigun | Weiss Kreuz | Yuri!!! on Ice
BOOKS: Chrestomanci | Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint
DRAMAS: Nirvana in Fire | The Untamed -OR- Modao Zu Shi
TV SHOWS/MOVIES: Community | Game of Thrones -OR- ASOIAF | Good Omens | Hannibal | Highlander | The Old Guard | Our Flag Means Death | Stranger Things
VIDEO GAMES: Dragon Age: Inquisition | Final Fantasy 8 | Genshin Impact | Okami
BANDS: Arashi
All right, whew, that was actually a fun project, despite how much work it was to hunt down a lot of older faves to see if they were on AO3, hopefully you'll find this useful!

Apple of My Eye — xmh
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: minghao’s arrival to auradon changes your life as you know it, and not just because he’s the son of the woman who poisoned your mother
tags: fluff, descendants au, child of snow white reader, reader is shorter than minghao wc: 2.4k an: happy birthday mika @toruro :333 i love you so much pls enjoy bc i think i rewrote this maybe 7 times no joke an 2: this fic takes place in the same universe as “good to be bad” which features gyu, wonu, and child of hades reader. you don’t really have to read it to read this one, but it would be cool if you did!
Tumblr media
From the moment you were born, it was made clear that you were always going to be second. Whether in your parents’ eyes or the citizens or even other kids. Nothing you could do would amount to your brother.
Joshua was athletic, charismatic, handsome, the future King of Charmington. Every kid in Auradon was drawn to him. You were just the little sister.
Joshua could never do wrong, or at least your parents thought so. You on the other hand, had everything about you nitpicked. You had to be the perfect daughter so you could one day find a suitor for you to marry. That led to long days of you in lessons about etiquette while Joshua would run around the castle with Seungcheol and Seokmin, not caring about what kind of disturbances they caused. At the time it didn’t bother you, you wanted to do anything to please your parents.
After you started school, it was hard for you to make friends, and eventually you just gave up, submitting to being the outcast of the class. It didn’t help that your brother would go around and pick on you to all of his friends just for a few laughs.
Years went by and you were still doing your best just to be a good daughter. In class you were still an outcast, with people either whispering behind your back or scoffing at you when you walked past. It wasn’t until you started to attend Auradon Prep that you realized how useless it all was.
No matter how prim and proper and perfect you are, you’ll never be anything in anyone’s eyes as long as Joshua is alive. You think about all those years you tried to make everyone happy, to be the best you could be, only for it to amount to nothing.
Maybe that’s why you were so drawn to Minghao. His subtle kindness and gruff but charming presence. It makes you laugh to know that if you told the little girl you used to be that later in life she’s going to fall in love with the son of her parents’ sworn enemy, she’d probably cry.
Right now though, you’re completely sure you’d follow Minghao to the end of the world.
When you were little, your parents used to sit in your living room in front of the fireplace and tell you and Joshua the great story of their love. You’ve heard it a million times, not just from your parents but also your seven uncles.
When the proclamation was made that the villain kids would be coming to Auradon, your parents were scandalized. When they found out that one of them was the child of the Evil Queen, they were outraged. They were fearful for what would happen to you and (mostly) Joshua.
They told you to steer clear of any of the VKs as their parents will have raised them to be just like them. That they will be cruel and ill-mannered and up to no good. That nothing could come off the isle without it being tainted by the evil kept within.
When you were little, you were always told that the Evil Queen is a jealous old woman and vile of heart. Though that may be the case, you’re not sure you should view her son as the same. Not everyone is their parents. When you think about the first time you and Minghao met, you know there’s no doubt about it.
You were walking down the hallway when you caught sight of him a few feet ahead of you. You recognized him from the press release about the proclamation. Minghao, son of the Evil Queen. Your eyes were drawn to his dark blue hair and thick leather jacket. You were completely stopped in your tracks, too entranced by the deep scowl on his face. Unfortunately because you stopped walking, you were easily run over.
“Get out of the way,” the person growled as they shoved you, causing you to drop your books.
“S-sorry,” you squeaked out. You bent down to pick up your books, only to hear a new voice.
“Why don’t you watch where you’re walking?” You looked up to see Minghao looming over the person who ran into you. They cowered away. “No need to be a dick. Pick the fucking books up.”
They nodded and scrambled to grab your books, hastily passing them back to you before they ran off. You stared down at the book before redirecting your gaze to the tall boy in front of you. You bowed to him.
“Thank you. You didn’t have to do that, I’m uh…used to it,” you trailed off at the end, unsure of why you were explaining that to him.
He also looked slightly uncomfortable at the fact. Or maybe it was because you bowed to him. “You didn’t do anything wrong. No reason to pick on innocent people.” With that he stalked off and your sudden interest in him ignited tenfold.
Ever since that day you and Minghao kept having small run-ins. Almost like fate was pulling you two together. Before you knew it you two were spending all your time together. You were easily captured by his outlook on the world. You’ve never met someone so fair and level headed as Minghao. You’ve learned so much from him.
You finally had a friend. He helped you discover who you really are, and he did everything in his power to protect you. Slowly your friendship developed into more until you found yourself with butterflies in your stomach every time he talked to you.
You remember the day he finally made the first move. You weren’t even sure that Minghao liked you like that until you were sitting in his dorm, helping him with his math homework, when he leaned over and kissed you. You swear your heart nearly jumped out of your chest. After that things were a little clunky, but you two figured it out.
Dating Minghao opened up a whole new realm of possibilities. You feel strong with him. You feel like you can do anything. Maybe that’s why you put so much faith in him when he comes to you with his plan.
“Snowflake,” Minghao starts, his nickname for you still flustering you slightly, “I need you to trust me, okay?”
“Hao…what’s this about?” You two are sitting in his dorm room, sitting on his bed. He asked you earlier if you would meet him, as there was something important he needed to talk to you about.
There’s a grim look on Minghao’s face as he looks at you. He struggles with his words for a moment before finding what he wants to say. “You know I care about you a lot and that I would do anything to make you happy and protected.”
Minghao stops for a moment and you nod at him. He takes another deep breath.
“You and I, we don’t belong here. Nobody here will ever respect us or any of the other VKs, and something needs to be done about it. I want to do something about it.” There’s a fire in Minghao’s words as he talks. “Everything that I’ve seen and heard and experienced since I stepped foot in Auradon is bullshit and it was fine when it was just me, but they way they treat you as well? It’s unacceptable.”
“Hao,” you interject, “just tell me what you’re talking about. I promise, I trust you more than anyone else.”
Minghao reaches forward and grabs your hands in his. He squeezes tight. “They need to be taught a lesson. Nothing will change if we don’t make the change.” You squeeze his hands back, encouraging him to continue. “I’ve been talking with some of the other VKs…we’re thinking about overthrowing the crown.” You suck in a breath. “I know it’s a lot and that it’s a risk but-”
You cut Minghao off, letting go of his hands to cup his face. You lean in and kiss him gently. When you pull away you rest your forehead against his. “I trust you Hao, and I will stand by you through anything. If this is the path you decide to take, I’m right here with you.”
“Are you sure? Your parents and-”
“No one has ever treated me the way you do. You’re the best thing to happen to me, Minghao.”
“I love you,” Minghao whispers, just loud enough to hear. Your heart does a skip.
“I love you too,” you tell him back, the first time either of you have said it. “I believe what you’re doing is what has to be done.”
You think of every wrongdoing of the citizens of Auradon, about how unfair they have been all these years. You think about the new world you can make. You know this is the right choice.
Minghao wants you to stay out of the planning process, as to not incriminate you in case anything happens. That unfortunately leaves you with quite a bit of free time on your hands. You’re walking back to your dorm from the library when you’re suddenly stopped by someone grabbing you. You yelp in surprise as you’re whipped around to come face to face with your brother.
Joshua grips onto your arm tightly and you try to break free but he just holds on tighter. If you’re being honest you’re shocked he’s even interacting with you, as he gave up on that years ago.
“I don’t know what you’re doing, but you need to stop,” Joshua hisses.
“Joshua, let me go!”
“I know you’re up to something with the son of the Evil Queen. Do you know what Mom and Dad would think if they found out? If you keep it up you’re going to get in trouble, either with him, or them.”
“You’re hurting me!”
“Well maybe you should listen.”
“She said let go.” Joshua’s grip loosens slightly at the intrusion and you’re able to break free.
You and your brother both look to the side to see Minghao standing there. Though Joshua and Minghao are the same height, it seems like Minghao looms over him. There’s a dark look on his face as he glares daggers into your brother. Relief washes over you at the sight of your boyfriend coming to your rescue.
“You,” Joshua hisses. “Stay away from my little sister.”
“No, I think you should stay away.” Minghao steps forward, subtly putting his body between yours and Joshua’s.
“I don’t know who you think you are, but I know that you’re no good. If you hurt her I swear I’ll-”
“It seems like you’re the only one here who’s hurt her.” Minghao gestures to where you’re rubbing your arm from where Joshua gripped you too tight. “You’re selfish and pathetic. You don’t really care about her and you never have, don’t try to act all high and mighty now.”
“Just wait, you’re going to get it,” Joshua growls before stalking off.
Minghao doesn’t bother responding, instead he turns towards you. “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine, but I need you to do something for me.”
“Anything.”
“Hurry up with the plans, okay?” You stare up and Minghao and he just nods, ready to set the world on fire for you if he has to.
“Are you scared?” You ask Minghao as you two lay in your bed one night. Your roommate is visiting her parents and you take the opportunity to spend the night with your boyfriend without having to worry about Jun on the other side of the room.
“Petrified,” Minghao whispers. “But you can’t tell anyone.”
“I promise,” you giggle, pressing a soft peck to his cheek.
“I’m scared, but then I think about you and why I’m doing this to begin with, and I know everything will work out.”
“Everyone says you’re so scary,” you tell him, “but I think you’re just a giant sap.”
“Only for you, Snowflake.”
“I really hope this works,” you whisper, changing the tone of the conversation.
“It will. I’ll make sure of it, even if it’s the last thing I do.”
“It won’t be. We’re going to change the world and then you and I will be able to live in peace.”
“We’ll have our happily ever after?” There's a teasing grin on Minghao’s face and you roll your eyes playfully.
“Yes. We will.” Minghao just giggles and leans in to kiss you. You kiss him back, putting all of your unsaid words behind it.
Minghao has changed your life, and you could never repay him for what he’s done for you, what he’s going to do for you. You know you don’t have to pay him back though, because loving him is enough. You don’t want to think about what your life would have become if Minghao didn’t come to Auradon. When you were little your parents told you about fate and how the right people will always come into your life. Laying here with Minghao, you think they may have gotten at least one thing right.
“Are you ready?” Minghao asks as he reaches down to hold your hand tight. You nod and squeeze his hand back.
“As ready as I’ll ever be.”
The two of you stand outside of the Museum of Cultural History, about to enact your plan to change the rest of your lives.
“You’ll be able to go back after this,” Minghao tells you. You look up at him and smile.
“Good.”
Around you stands the other VKs, and for some reason the son of Hercules, Mingyu (you’ll have plenty of time to question that later). The sight warms your heart. You don’t think you’ve ever felt more safe with a group of people before. A few months ago you never had friends, and now here you are, ready to change the world with a group of villain kids. Your parents would have a heart attack if they could see you now.
“Whatever happens,” Minghao tells you, “I love you.”
You pull him down for a final kiss before you enter the museum. “I love you too.”
You take a moment to just stare at him. His soft blue hair falling over his eyes as he’s wrapped up in his jacket. He looks just like he did the first day you met him, yet everything has changed so much. You smile when you think about how you wouldn’t want to have it any other way.
No one has ever loved you as much as Minghao has. Not your parents or your brother or anyone else. Minghao is willing to risk everything, just make you happy. You will always be his number one priority. The thought makes your heart swell, and you know there will never be someone who means as much to as you as Minghao does.
“Okay,” you tell him, “let’s do this.”
Minghao nods and signals to the others and just like that you’re all in action. Your heart beats hard in your chest as you follow behind Minghao, ready for him to lead you to whatever good thing is next to come.

v. SAFE FOR NOW
Tumblr media
as soon as you were calm, paimon immediately took hold of your hand and gently tugged on it, "come on, you need to breathe some fresh air!"
and you meekly protested, saying how you didn't want people to see your tear stained face but lumine soon joined in and took your arm in hers, smiling from ear to ear, "so what? tears are no signs of weakness!"
nahida followed behind, giggling, "I agree with lumine, tears are no signs of weakness and crying is a normal emotion," she was walking by your side in mere seconds, "though, here," she gave you her handkerchief, "if you still don't want your people to see your tears, it's all right."
already thanking her for it, you would have taken her handkerchief if one of your hand was free and seeing this, lumine let go of your arm, grabbed nahida's handkerchief with a big smile and gently wiped your face, stopping paimon in her tracks.
"there! no need to complain anymore, or else, paimon will get angry," paimon joked and you couldn't help but giggle.
paimon prided herself in the fact that she made you let out a happy sound.
Tumblr media
"you... are still alive?"
those words should have put the former geo archon on high alert, however... he simply nodded, bowing his head once more.
"yes, your divine eminence."
and everyone in the room, the servants entrusted by the liyue qixing to their 'creator' sitting on your throne, stared at the bowing man.
their 'creator' crossed their arms, a brow raised while they stared.
the silence was uncomfortable.
what were they waiting for?
after a couple of minutes, they spoke again, "rise, former geo archon," they paused, contemplating their next move, "we have a contract to make."
after the 'creator' has gone public, thanks to ningguang, many went to see them with offerings, gifts and went to them in hopes of finding cures or blessings from their 'creator'.
and, after their visits after requesting blessings and cures, those people... either mysteriously disappeared or nothing happened, making them turn their backs on the one they used to worship.
if they couldn't help out their own people, it only meant that they were fake.
Tumblr media
"a trip to mondstadt would do you good," lumine had said.
"and it'll be loads of fun!" paimon added.
so why were you running for your life, following the two ahead of you while ducking and turning right then left on your trip to mondstadt?
what they forgotten was that: outside of sumeru's vast desert and forest, you were seen as an impostor in liyue, maybe in the other nations as well, you were not certain.
and to get to mondstadt, you had to go through liyue either way.
despite lumine choosing the safest, less populated route, after you voices out your concerns, you ran into some millelith.
"don't let the impostor escape!" one of the men yelled, a few feet behind you, prompting you to turn and look at them.
another mistake on your part.
nahida was against you going to mondstadt, for your own good and you'd agree with her. but you couldn't stay in one region only. this was the game that had you look up to something in life after all.
you agreeing to the traveler and her companion then convincing nahida to let you go and that lumine, who puffed out her chest in pride, promised to protect you, nahida couldn't do much... was the first mistake.
wanderer has suggested to go along with you but he could not, for he had duties awaiting for him and those duties could not wait.
you stepping in liyue was the second mistake.
their shouts were bound to attract the attention of nearby... authorities? threats? you no longer knew.
but seeing at how they were chasing you as soon as you walked by them, stating that 'their grace' was in liyue right now and tending to the people of liyue's matters, they immediately assumed that you were an impostor.
and a part of you agreed with them.
though, you knew that this was your face, the one you were born with, it was not your fault.
"halt, in the name of the liyue qixing!"
"eat shit!" the words were out of your mouth before you could even think about it and, somehow, that made lumine and you laugh, paimon nowhere in sigh yet you could hear her muffled laughter.
the path in fron of you seemed void of obstacles, yet, when you looked back again, the millelith were further than they previously were and you noticed that there suddenly were obstacles.
looking forward again, you noticed that you were nearer to the traveler, who, upon noticing your presence, grabbed your hand and made a sudden turn to the left.
strange.
that's when you noticed the waypoint.
and once she was near enough, she laid her hand on the teleportation device and mumbled, "the city of freedom!" in a hushed whisper.
then everything went white.
not before one threw their polearm at you, which cut your forearm and made it bleed, leaving behind a few drops of gold.
however, at the time, no one noticed.

for the first time in a long time, beidou had docked the crux in liyue harbour, having been summoned by ningguang whom, speaking of which, had been waiting for her friend's arrival.
"hey, ning!" beidou said, putting an arm around the tianquan's shoulder as kazuha jumped off the crux and onto the wharf before walking to the two women.
"captain beidou, I surmise that you have already gotten the letter I sent out to you while you were at sea," ningguang said, making no move to remove beidou's arm, having grown accustomed to it by now.
"what letter are ya talkin' about ey? there's lots," the captain of the crux said, laying her head against the tianquan's shoulder, and moving her arm to now rest on ningguang's waist, once kazuha was close.
"about the creator-"
the inazuman bowed in greetings once he stood in front of the tianquan who nodded at him in acknowledgement.
"ah, yes, yes! I remember."
"they've requested to see you."
somehow, at the same time, both of their blood ran cold, making the two exchange glances. which the tianquan noticed. she frowned and asked, "is something the matter?"
beidou pulled away and plastered on a fake, albeit convincing smile, "what are ya talkin' 'bout? nothing's the matter! we'll meet 'em shortly."
the always elegant woman nodded, gave them instructions on how to reach the 'creator's palace in the sky, almost the same way one was to reach the jade chamber before she left.
and once ningguang was out of earshot, beidou turned to kazuha who was staring up at the sky, the wind blowing gently around them.
"so? what's the wind sayin'?"
kazuha stayed quiet, eyes closing as he listened to the things the wind had to tell him.
══ ❀•°❀°•❀ ══
he opened his eyes once more and looked at beidou, nodding,
"the true creator is in mondstadt and the one currently sitting on their throne is a fake."
the beidou main in me is so happy rn.

Hey! I’ve been into SDV for a while know and I found your profile and it’s absolutely amazing! Your headcanons are so accurate and your writing is so smooth! I love it all! I saw that you take requests, so could you do headcanons for Stardew Valley Bachelors and Bachelorettes reactions when they find out that the farmer has a prosthetic leg?
(Love your work💗💗)
A/N: thank you for enjoying my work!! I try my best to write everyone in a way that I think is accurate so it feels good when people say that they think it is. Again if anything is offensive or wrong let me know!!!
Tw: some cursing, maybe some mean things/judgement/ableism because let’s face it not everyone is nice, a person without a prosthetic writing about it. let me know if anything else should be tagged!
Bc: at least 5 for each!! Some are shorter than others!

Sebastian
I feel like Sebastian would try to act normal about it but would be like….
Hmm okay
I don’t think he would react outwardly
He would try to keep things inside
And I don’t think he’s ableist
But he would be like
OMGOMGOMGOMG in his mind
He wouldn’t ask questions either
He’d just act like everything is fine when in reality he’s now panicking like……..
Is he supposed to act different? He doesn’t think so? Is that rude?
Is terrified of losing you and doesn’t want to mess anything up.
When he does ask about it tries to do it in the most non offending way possible.
Because he is curious about it
I don’t think anyone else in the valley has prosthetics
So he does want to know everything
He’s really nosy tbh
But acts all emo and as if he isn’t and that he doesn’t care
If you wanna ever talk about it I think you would have to bring it up first
Sam
OH COOL ya know *insert some random thing*
He wouldn’t be all “omg I didn’t know I’m so sorry” about it
I think he’s similar to Emily in this
In that it doesn’t really change his view of you
Would probably say offensive things though
Like on accident and because his mind is coming up with dumb questions and he has no impulse control when it comes to his mouth
Would ask if you could be like a pirate
Or ask if it means you can skateboard better than him
Would probably give you a kinda offensive nickname
But again hes doesn’t mean to be stupid about it
DOES change his tune if you don’t like it
Would never want to continue doing something that you actively dislike
Does ask every question that is on his mind
I feel like rather than the others he’s much more comfy with you
So doesn’t hesitate to ask about anything he lacks knowledge on
Shane
Depending on where you are in your relationship he has different moods
Like if he hasn’t opened up and is still depressed and an alcoholic he would be VERY pessimistic about it
Would probably get your spirits down
Would also probably say VERY offensive things in his melancholy state
Would say sorry only after you say that he’s being rude about it
If it’s after he gets help no matter if you’re dating or not he’s still like…
Oof
About it
Y’know? But he wouldn’t be an asshole either he’d just be like
Are you okay? About it if it makes sense?
Like it’s not an omg are you okay it’s more of a how are you feeling about it way
Like no matter if you’ve had the prosthetic forever or got it more recently his question is the same
How do you feel about it?
Does really care about your thoughts
I do think with him you’d have more deeper conversations than with anyone else other than maybe Harvey
Alex
While I don’t think he’s very judgmental on purpose
He probably would say some rude things
Or react in a rude way
Maybe thoughtless is the right word?
Like he isn’t going to be mean or anything
But he will say something like “oh like a pirate or something!”
And you’d be like “??????sure I guess….?”
Would want to swing your prosthetic leg around for shits and giggles
Understands that it’s expensive to get proper prosthetics but it’s in the back of his mind
Wouldn’t really treat you any differently unless it’s something that he thinks could hurt you
Even if you can do it alone
He’s like “NONO let me do it!!”
I don’t know what type of person you are but I know that’s either a relief so you only have to do easy things or it’s annoying because you’re perfectly able to do things on your own.
Is always impressed that you can do your farming duties.
Like it’s sorta ableist?
Like he’s a little confused but he has the spirit type of thing
Harvey
His first thought would be
Damn how good is your insurance
Or if you had to pay out of pocket for it
Is a doctor after all
I think he’d be curious in a doctor way
Because again I don’t think anyone else in the valley has a prosthetic (Sadge bc diversity is cool)
So he hasn’t really seen them that often
Would probably be very intrusive if you two are close
Would also back off if you weren’t okay with it
Does however become very….worried? About you
I don’t think worried is the right word
But would remind you to take breaks more often than he would a farmer without one (and even then it’s pretty often)
Like a mother kinda
Is kinda ableist but doesn’t realize because he thinks it’s just his doctor side
Again will stop if you want him to
Would absolutely have some interesting facts about prosthetics
Elliott
Would try to be poetic about it
And it’s either very cringy or cute based on hope you think of him
Would probably try to write a book or story or poem or something about a character with a prosthetic
Does get a lot of things wrong with the facts but tries
Because you are his muse
And his characters reflect you even if he won’t admit is until you’re closer enough
Might change something’s up about it though so it’s not exactly you
Just in case you hate it so he could be like “nononono this character has a DIFFERENT prosthetic hehe”
I do think he’s ableist but again like the others not in a judgemental kind of way just…..uninformed
Will listen if you try to teach him
Will also fight anyone who has anything to say about it
Haley
Depending on where you are in your relationship makes her reaction different
Like before she opens up I think she’d have a mean girl type of reaction
Like she’d make a face and everything and ask rude questions.
Like it would genuinely either make you mad or make you feel bad
She’d be like “WHAT THE HELL??”
And you’d be like “tf???? Are you okay?”
She’s ask VERY personal questions
Partly because she’s curious and partly because she has to make fun of you by being a bitch
But if you’re closer when she finds out she’s just like…
Taken aback and like oof but that’s the extent to it
I think if you’re closer she’d be too scared to ask any questions because while she gives no fucks she likes you
Whether it be in a romantic or platonic way
And she doesn’t want to push you away or anything
So she won’t really comment on it other than being like “oh….okay….”
Will fight anyone who says something about it though
Like even if they’re asking a valid question or something she’s like “ABSOLUTELY NOT”
Emily
Doesn’t react at all other than being like oh cool!
Honestly I don’t think she would think anything different of you, or even think that anything has changed now that she knows
Like you have always been the person that she knows and your limbs being different doesn’t mean anything because why would it?
Does make you cute accessories for it if you allow it though
Makes covers, will bedazzle it, literally whatever you want.
I think out of all of the bachelors and bachelorettes she would be the one to make it the least weird.
Like the others would either ask really insensitive questions or act weird about it
She’s like <3 yeah okay anyways do you wanna see this dance I’ve been practicing?
Like sorry I don’t have many headcanons for her she’s just….normal when it comes to things that other people would deem weird(not to be ableist I hope you know what I mean by this bc people are asses)
Penny
VERY ABLEIST
But again not in a judgy way
She just….
She means well but it’s kinda annoying if you don’t want help
Just like how she shoves George’s wheelchair out of the way at the mailbox to help him
It’s like first you should ASK if someone wants help
And second helping isn’t always what you think it is
Would help you without asking if you want it
Acts like she just is so much stronger or whatever
Is VERY embarrassed after you talk to her about it
Might try to argue back that she was just helping
But ultimately realizes that she was kinda overstepping
Just wants to make things easier for you
Abigail
Would think it’s cool
Asks dumb questions like if it gives you an advantage over anything that others wouldn’t think about
Forgets about it half the time tbh
Like it doesn’t matter to her
And thankfully she has make herself her own person outside of Pierre’s beliefs bc child her would’ve been mean
But she does think it’s cool and like the others has a million different questions
Asks them nonstop
Also like Alex asks if she can use it as a weapon
Sometimes offensive but not often I don’t think
Would probably say some bullshit like you’re part robot or something
Again depending on how you feel she either keeps up this joke with you.
Or lets it die out
Cooler than most about it
Leah
I think she’s one of the ones that doesn’t react
Because she’s lived in the city
I think she has come across a couple people with different kinds of prosthetics
So she isn’t like the others with a million questions or anything
It’s much more normalized for her that she doesn’t really comment or question it
Will ask if she could create one for you out of wood just to see if she can
Also one of the ones that would knock a bitch out for coming at you in a rude way
Would probably have a “yeah and?” Reaction if you wanted her to actually react
Like it doesn’t change anything at all for her.
Maru
Would be stoked
But in a science type of way
Would also wanna see if she could make you a new one
Unlike Leah though Maru would probably be a bit offensive
Mostly because I don’t think she understands social norms or anything
So she would ask things that would be unamusing and uncomfortable for you because she really just….
Doesn’t understand that there’s things that you shouldn’t say or do
Is overwhelmingly positive though
Like tries VERY hard to get you to understand that nothing has changed for her
Is a little annoying about it but just really wants you to know that she likes or loves you no matter what
Would probably have some interesting facts about prosthetics as well

Wanna request something? Look here!
“You’re a virgin?!” Y/N sat up from where the two friends were lying in the grass.
“Y/N I’m called Eddie the freak. You think I’m getting laid?” Eddie chuckled, looking up at the clouds.
“I don’t know you just don’t give off virgin energy.” Y/N lay back down.
“That’s the best compliment I’ve ever received.” Y/N laughed at Eddie’s sarcasm.
“But really? No metalhead girl from out of town? No stranger in the broom closet of a house party?” Y/N asked, hands moving in the air as she talked. Eddie just grinned, keeping his eyes to the sky. His silence was enough to answer. “You’re telling me you haven’t corrupted at least one cheerleader or straight A good girl?” Y/N turned her head to look at him. Eddie chuckled.
“Nope.” Y/N just stared at him in disbelief. Eddie finally looked at her after getting no verbal response. He saw the shock still on her face. “I’m dead serious L/N!”
“But you act so… cool!” Y/N looked back up straight. She used her hands to talk again, helping her let out her confused frustration.
“You think I’m cool?”
“You have charisma and energy! No girl has ever even been a bit curious?”
“Well you’re asking a lot of curious questions right now.” That comment made Y/N stop for a moment. Eddie smiled. “What about you then? I’ve aired my dirty laundry, it’s your turn.”
“Okay okay fine.” Y/N breathed in then out and rested her hands on her stomach. “I’ve done seven minutes in heaven a bunch of times but I’ve only hooked up with Steve Harrington, and Chance and Andy from the basketball team, at different times of course-“
“TWO of the jocks AND Steve the hair Harrington?” Eddie questioned, head whipping over to her. “Y/N L/N you’re more of a player than I thought.” Y/N chuckled at Eddie’s enthusiasm.
“I want to make clear that all of them were single when it happened!” Y/N stated through a giggle. “So who have you kissed then?”
“No one! No one L/N! What are you not getting about weird loud nerd who’s been labeled a freak?” Eddie laughed. Y/N was still smiling but now she was shaking her head.
“I cannot believe this.” She said as she sat up. Eddie looked over to her, propping himself up on his elbows.
“Where you going?” He watched as she moved to sit on top of him, immediately making him loose his cool. “W-Wh- Y/N what are you-“
Y/N slowly closed the gap between their mouths. Eddie’s eyes widened before he remembered he should probably close them. He felt Y/N’s hand travel up his chest until she reached the top of his shirt. She grabbed it to pull him in closer before letting go and rolling off, leaving him wanting more.
“There you go Munson! You can check that off your list now.” Eddie laid there frozen, unable to speak. Y/N could see he was still in shock. “Y’know the good thing about kissing someone who’s never been kissed before, is that they have absolutely zero expectations for you. You were pretty good though. If I didn’t know any better Eddie, I’d say I didn’t just take your mouth virginity.”
“Oh gross. Don’t word it like that.” Y/N laughed.
“I just said it to weird you out.” Eddie just stared at her for a moment, still processing what just happened.
“W-Why did you do that?”
“Because I wanted to? And I was 95% sure you wanted to too. It went up to 100 the moment I sat on you.” Y/N grinned. They heard the school bell ring in the distance. “Ah shit I gotta go.”
She stood up and brushed herself off. “Guessing you’re skipping again?”
“Uh yeah.”
“Okay cool I’ll see ya later.” Y/N began walking away. She turned back around. “Hey if you’re lucky I might take your actual virginity one day.” She winked before disappearing into the distance. “Unless a lucky lady beats me to it!” She shouted back.
Eddie watched the spot she had disappeared to, long after she was out of view. His brain was still processing what had just happened. He gulped, feeling his face heat up.
He never knew a girl could make him such a mess so effortlessly.

You’d seen a lot of scary things over the past few years, but nothing had terrified you more than witnessing Steve being mauled by the demonic bats in the upside down. It took a lot of fighting from you and the others, but you managed to kill them. There was no chance to be relieved because Steve was hurt badly and there were more coming.
When the five of you fled into the creepy, dark woods, you noticed Steve wincing in pain with every step. It gave you anxiety, so you lingered back with him while Nancy led the way to her house with Robin by her side and Eddie close behind them. You could’ve easily caught up but there was no way you were gonna part from your best friend while he was injured.
“I’m okay, Y/N,” Steve tried to assure you as if he could sense your worrying thoughts. “It’s-it’s really not that bad.” He shot you a weak smile, but it wasn’t very convincing. Especially when he shuddered and his hand fell to his wounds briefly. Nancy had wrapped them in an attempt to stop the bleeding but that obviously did nothing to ease the pain.
“You’re not a very good liar,” you replied, a frown tugging at your lips. You were shorter than Steve and not as strong, but you still moved to tuck yourself at his side under his arm and let him lean on you. He was tired and stumbling—both mentally and physically exhausted—and you didn’t doubt he’d collapse any second.
“Y/N—” Steve said in a protesting tone, but you interrupted him.
“Shut up, Harrington. Just let me help, alright?” You looked up at him and he just sighed and allowed you to help him. You could tell he felt bad but he shouldn’t have. Steve was there for you all the time, it was the least you could do.
You knew Steve in highschool and he wasn’t exactly your friend then, but you never had any issues with him. That’s why after you graduated and got a job at StarCourt Mall (before it burned down), you recognized and were friendly with him. You worked in a shoe store that was opposite to Scoops Ahoy and after going for ice cream on your breaks a few times, it became a normal thing. You’d go get ice cream and chat with Steve—and Robin—until your break was over.
You quickly became friends and that’s what led to him revealing to you the secret message in Russian that he, Robin, and his kid friend Dustin were decoding. Then you learned everything else and the rest was history.
Over time you developed a bit of a crush on Steve, but he was now also your best friend. You, him, and Robin were a trio and you didn’t want to risk messing that up by telling him how you felt.
Robin calling Nancy’s name snapped you out of your head. With your support Steve stayed on his feet as you caught up to them. Sure enough, you saw the Wheeler house.
“Come on,” Nancy announced.
The five of you made your way inside and headed up the stairs into Nancy’s room to look for her guns. Except, they weren’t there. She noticed her room was off—not including the obvious greyish color and all the vines—and with the discovery of a diary, she started to piece together why her room was all wrong.
“What is it?” Eddie asked.
“Nancy? You’re freaking me out,” Robin added.
“I think the reason that my guns are here is because they don’t exist yet,” Nancy said in a way that sounded ominous as she stared at the diary in her hands.
“They don’t… exist?” Eddie sounded sceptical, which you couldn’t blame him for.
“This diary should be full of entries. It’s not,” she explained. “The last entry is November 6, 1983. The day Will went missing. The day the gate opened. We’re in the past.”
Your attention was drawn to Steve as he looked around the room, like he could hear something. Then he frantically began shouting out Dustin’s name as he exerted himself to run downstairs.
When focusing on trying to hear the boy, all of you were able to. Eddie used the lights to signal SOS and then Dustin came up with an idea. The kid was smart—probably a genius. He used a litebrite to allow you to communicate.
You all developed a plan to go to Eddie’s trailer where Chrissy had died and hope there was a gate there. You figured there would be since the gate in the water—or watergate as Dustin called it—had formed where Venca’s most recent victim was killed.
The biggest problem with getting to Eddie’s trailer was the distance, but Robin thought of a solution to that.
Robin’s idea to find bikes renewed the energy in the group. Robin was in the hall quickly with Eddie behind, waiting for Nancy to lead the way. They were eager to get back to the normal world and so were you. Just as you were about to follow, you heard a thud.
You turned your head and found Steve on the ground. He’d tried to stand but failed.
“Hey, you okay?” You asked as you kneeled down in front of him. “Sorry, dumb question,” you apologized quickly.
“Steve, can you stand?” Nancy questioned, obviously worried as well.
“Yeah,” he grunted out. “I just need a minute,” he admitted.
You looked over your shoulder at the others. “I’ll stay with him, go ahead and find the bikes. We’ll be down in a second.”
You could tell the other three were reluctant to leave you two behind, but you planned to keep your promise of making it down to them.
When they disappeared from view, Steve dropped the act. His face contorted in pain and he practically fell over. It was only because of your quick reaction time that you were able to maneuver yourself and guide his head to rest in your lap rather than hit the ground. You managed to lean your back against the bed and your legs were straight out in front of you. Steve laid on the floor, curling his body in himself and using your thighs as a pillow.
Your hand fell to absentmindedly run your fingers through his disheveled—although still soft and luscious—hair. He seemed to relax under the touch, his breath slowing to become more steady.
“We’re gonna get out of here and as soon as we do we’ll get you to a hospital. We’ll be okay. You’ll be okay,” you reassured not only Steve but yourself as well. You needed him to be okay. You didn’t know what you’d do if he wasn’t.
“I’m gonna be fine,” he promised. There was a slight shake in his voice, so small you wouldn’t have noticed if you weren’t paying such close attention. “Sorry for making you stay with me. I’m acting like such a wimp right now,” he said with a small scoff as he mocked himself.
You let out a laugh at that without even thinking. He was being ridiculous. “Dude! You are not a wimp, you got attacked by evil bats. You’re allowed to be in pain.”
“It’s okay, I’m just using it as an excuse so you’ll play with my hair anyway,” he joked. You could hear the smile in his voice and it made you relax. You two liked to tease each other and it was refreshing to hear his voice sound light and amused.
“Well, if that’s what you wanted all you had to do was ask,” you replied, going along with it.
“You’re too good to me,” he hummed in content. There was a moment of silence before he took a deep breath. It surprised you as he hauled himself up next to sit next to you. He turned his head and you faced him. “Can I ask you something?”
The switch from teasing to sincere stunned you a tad, but you still responded with, “of course.”
“Is it selfish of me to say I’m glad you’re here?” He asked softly, voice laced with slight guilt. “I mean, I’d rather us not be here at all, but since we are it’s better having you with me,” he further explained, rambling just a bit. You didn’t say anything about his quick words and instead smiled at him.
“I know the feeling,” you smiled sweetly, reaching for his hand. You panicked for a second, realizing what you’d said and how you’d said it. “I am pretty awesome,” you added on with fake cockiness in your tone. Just in case. You often used humor to cover up your slip ups of emotion.
Steve laughed a little to himself before saying, “yeah, you are.” The mood in the room stayed the same as before. The way he looked at you was soft yet full of emotion. You’d seen that gaze before but always explained it away. Steve squeezed your hand a little and pulled you back to reality.
“You ready to head down?” you asked, changing the subject.
“Just one more thing,” Steve replied. “And you have to promise not to punch me in the face.”
You let out a confused laugh at that, furrowing your brows a little. “What?” you questioned through a chuckle.
“I’m serious, c’mon,” he urged.
“Fine, I promise.”
He cleared his throat slightly, you could tell he was nervous.
Suddenly, everything felt in slow motion as his hand raised to rest on the back of your neck with his thumb grazing your cheek. You hardly had time to react as Steve leaned in, but when his lips brushed against yours you allowed your eyes to flutter shut as you accepted the kiss.
All too soon, Steve pulled back. Not very far though, your noses were almost touching.
“Was that… okay?” he asked nervously, searching your eyes.
Your cheeks felt warm and your heart was racing, but you managed to get words out. “More than okay.”
He smiled at that before leaning in and capturing your lips once more. The shyness in the first, gentle kiss had disappeared as your lips moved together. He pulled you impossibly close to him and allowed all the built up longing to be expressed through the connection. His lips were just as soft as you imagined and you loved every second.
If it had been up to you, you would’ve never allowed your lips to part, but the need for oxygen got in the way and the two of you reluctantly separated to catch your breath.
“I’ve been wanting to do that for a while,” you spoke first, making him blush a little.
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
“Well, I have too. But I guess that’s obvious,” Steve replied with a little chuckle, loving eyes locked with yours. “I’ve been too scared all this time. About ruining our friendship, y’know? I’d hate myself forever if I drove you away.”
“That’s not gonna happen,” you promised softly. “What made you decide to risk it?” You wondered aloud. “I’m happy you did by the way, you’re a good kisser,” you commented with a cheeky grin.
Steve laughed before he shifted into a more serious tone. “I just… I needed to do that. In case anything happens,” he confessed.
Your heart sank a little with fear. “Nothings gonna happen to us, Steve.” You had to believe that.
“You’re right,” he responded, feigning as if he believed the words that even you didn’t believe. He used the hand that was still touching your face to run through your hair. His hand rested on the back of your head and he pulled you to him to press a kiss to your forehead. “When we’re back home, I’m gonna take you to dinner. Like a real date,” Steve said as he leaned back. “Only if you want,” he added.
You rolled your eyes with a smile and shoved his shoulder a little, causing him to chuckle as well. “Of course I want to, idiot. Did you not hear me before?”
“I guess it’s still hard to believe you like me back,” he shrugged, sounding a little embarrassed with himself for not being confident.
“Well, I don’t just like you,” you said, building up your own bravery before saying, “I love you, Steve,” you professed your feelings. You’d been hiding them for so long and now just felt like the moment to get everything out there, just as Steve had.
The cutest smile that you had ever seen crossed his face. “For real?”
“Well, duh,” you said mockingly, easing the tension for yourself. “That would be a mean joke to play, I’m not that cruel.”
“I didn’t mean it like that,” he said in the same ‘isn’t it obvious?’ tone you used. “I mean… I love you too. And it’s really, really awesome to hear you feel the same.”
You didn’t get to say anything else before he was pulling you into another passionate kiss.
“Oh you’ve got to be kidding me!” a familiar voice shouted, causing you and Steve to jump apart. You and Steve both looked to the doorway to find Robin standing there. “We are trying to get out of this place and you guys are up here making out!? I mean, I know Steve has been into you like forever Y/N—he made me promise not to tell you even though I really wanted to—and I’m really happy for you guys and we are definitely talking about this later, but we don’t have much time here!” Robin chattered on.
“Robin, chill,” Steve held out his hands, trying to calm her down.
You stood up first and then held out your hand to Steve. “Let’s go, Harrington,” you told him with a small smirk of amusement.
He looked up at you and grasped your hand. He returned your little smile despite the way he winced as you helped him up. “I’ll go wherever you want,” Steve teased. However, from the way he looked at you, you believed him.
You couldn't wait to get back to the real world.

How would they (Origin + Halsin) react to a Tav that's taller than them? If it's even possible to be taller than Halsin lmao

How would they react to a Tav that's taller than them?
( Added the possibility of your Tav/Durge carrying them so I have more to work with. All for more content tho lmao )
.
.
Tumblr media
: ̗̀➛ ASTARION
“Why not ask our walking street lamp if they can see anything from here? Gods, with all that height they ought to do something useful with it.”
Irritated.
He’s already shorter compared to the others in their camp, what more when he's standing next to you?
If anything he's frustrated that he has to break his neck every time he needs to speak with you.
Demands that you Crouch/get on his level instead if you both need to talk. He’d rather you get all the neck aches than him.
He only gets mildly defensive when he senses you looming over him but he eventually becomes accustomed to it, and soon enough, he learns to like it.
Having someone tall enough to reach things for him without having to exert so much effort is a lovely little advantage for him.
And if you have the ability to ever so easily lift him up? He’d love it even more. Now he doesn't have to walk! Plus being in your arms is something he finds oddly comforting. He wouldn't admit it out loud just yet but being encapsulated by your warmth does something to his undead heart.
Tumblr media
: ̗̀➛WYLL
“Nothing wrong with having a particularly height-boosted companion tag along in our exciting misadventures! Though I do hope we manage to find some armor to fit you.”
Surprised but he didn't find it all too bad. People come in all shapes and sizes after all.
He doesn't exactly treat you any differently because of your height, he’ll make the usual playful remark here and there about it but nothing more.
A small chuckle would come out of him every time your height causes you to bend your head to fit through doorways or if you accidentally hit something but he’d be there to make sure you weren't too hurt.
Similar to Astarion, he's grateful for your height advantages since you can grab things for him or even run longer distances.
Would be a laughing mess if you do manage to pick him up, he's never actually been picked up from the ground so easily that it startles him in the best way possible.
Would playfully call you his knight in shining armor just until you put him down.
Tumblr media
: ̗̀➛GALE
“I’m not quite sure if this is the result of some sort of magic elixir or if you were given the extra growth spurs by chance.”
‘Well alright then-’
It's not as if he hasn't seen people taller than him, sure the neck pains are going to be bothersome but it's not something he wants you to feel bad for.
Depending on the species you are, he’d question how you’d somehow come to be so tall.
Nothing but harmless questions honestly, he’d probably ask a story in regards to your height at some point but he wouldn't make a big deal out of it.
Besides, if he wished to be tall too he could have used a spell on himself but he doesn't need to.
Your imposing height can be used to intimidate enemies so there's that. Regardless, he sees your height as something that has its own perks.
Baffled when you manage to lift him up. He spends at least five seconds struggling because he doesn't quite understand what just happened and he doesn't know what he should be holding onto. Somehow his hand ends up on your face at some point.
Relaxes soon enough and happily stays in your arms for however long you wish to keep him there. Now he won't stop talking your ear off and praising you as per usual.
Tumblr media
: ̗̀➛KARLACH
“And just when I thought I was tall, in came you! I mean just look at you! I bet you can see damn well anything from up there!“
WHOA. <—Her inner reaction
She's the one of the tallest in your little group so of course she's surprised to see someone who towers over her.
She can't get over the fact that she has to look up at you every time you both speak to one another.
With your permission, she refers to you both as ‘ Tall buddies ‘
I mean hey! The taller you are the more huggable you must be right? At least that's what she thinks.
Surprised if you do manage to lift her off the ground, practically squealing and laughing out loud from the mere fact that someone had managed to lift her even an inch off the ground.
She'd have the time of her life in all honesty.
If your body could manage it, she’d be so on board with going on a piggyback ride. She hasn't had one since she was a mere little tiefling! You haven't seen her laugh so loudly in such a long time, it's wonderful.
Tumblr media
: ̗̀➛SHADOWHEART
“And your height proves what sort of concern for me? Unless you're bumping into doorways I doubt we’d have any trouble.”
She isn't bothered by it in the slightest, she hardly even cares about the fact that you're taller than her.
While it is sort of tiresome to constantly frame her neck so that she's constantly looking up at you, it's not something she ever complains about.
She won't make a single comment on it unless you’re visibly struggling to get through door frames and or average-sized spaces (if you are then how tall must you be lmao)
It’s more of her asking a single question as to how you manage with your height and if there is anything that could be done. Other than that, she’d move along.
A bit tense if you ever do decide to use your height advantage to pick her up.
She doesn't know what to do nor if this is something she’s comfortable with but she slowly eases into it, even holding you properly with a warm smile carefully forming across her face.
She takes this time to look around, noticing how much she can see from being lifted up by a taller person. She’d thank you for such a lovely little experience after you put her down.
Tumblr media
: ̗̀➛LAE’ZEL
“Tsk’va, must we really bring this istik with us? Any charith could spot them from a mile away.”
She doesn't really care either unless your height proves to be some sort of perk in the coming battles.
And hey, if you can somehow intimidate your foes with your height advantage, she’d be impressed. Good for you.
Though at first, she does get out some harsh jabs about your height proving to be a disadvantage when stealthing. However, she’d slowly warm up to you and cease to make such comments.
Would probably punch you if you ever tried picking her up without warning her beforehand (0/10 do not recommend)
Like others mentioned before her, she hasn't been picked up before. She tenses the moment you lift her and it takes a while for her to relax.
She’d probably have to be softly talked out of her tension in order to properly relax in your grip and take a moment to look around.
The moment she does, she finally lets down her guard, taking a moment to look around now that she has a better view from above.
As soft as this little moment is, she now sees this as a way for to get a better advantage whenever she's using a bow. She can see her foes from afar from this height. Now you two can work even closer in combat!
Tumblr media
: ̗̀➛HALSIN
“Hm. It has been quite some time since I've encountered someone as towering as you. Not that I mind. Simply one of nature’s many gifts. I find that it only adds to your charm.”
What?
I mean have you seen this man? He’s towered over everyone the majority of his life, he's only met a select few that were actually taller than him.
It was a pleasant surprise for him when you first met. He isn't quite used to having to crane his neck upwards. It aches the first few times but he eventually gets used to it.
Similar to Karlach, your height is something that constantly comes to his mind. It simply baffles him but he doesn't comment too much about it after the first time he brought it up.
He finds it kind of amusing if anything.
Watch this man’s life flash before his eyes the moment you manage to lift him up. Who has managed to lift him up before? Apparently you now.
He stays silent, shocked, and confused for about five or more seconds till he finally lets out a chuckle.
He can't believe it! He's being carried! He can’t stop himself from grinning from utter disbelief.
He’s even more enamored by you now, utterly delighted by this otherworldly experience.

— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —
Why is this so difficult? It's just like every other day at work, except for the fact that it's not. You have been standing in front of your closet for a good 10 minutes now just looking at your clothes. Suddenly nothing seems good enough to wear. Maybe something would be good enough if you knew how to dress for a fight. Should you wear workout gear? No, you weren’t the one fighting. Should you wear a tank top and a tennis skirt? Probably not if it gets as rowdy as Benny says it will.
“Just pick a fucking outfit, you idiot.” You chastise.
After yet another once over of your closet you pick out a worn, white t-shirt with an image of Speed Racer on it. It had definitely seen its glory days years ago when you were still in college. If it worked then, it should work now. You take it off its hanger, along with some jeans, and put it all on. You’re tying your shoes when your phone chimes next to you.
???: Hey, we will be getting to the gym around closing time. Are you staying to help Benny set up?
???: Oh, this is Frankie BTW
Seeing his name on your screen makes your chest tighten with excitement. You obviously gave him your number so he could text you, but now it feels so real. Something about Frankie texting ‘BTW’ makes you giggle to yourself as you sit on the floor.
You: Yes, I figured I would make myself useful. No point in going home since the fights start at 10:00 P.M. and I might lose my parking spot.
You have to set your phone down before you overthink the most basic text you have ever sent in your life. Just for good measure, you leave it on your bed while you go into the bathroom. Despite your best efforts to remain nonchalant about the whole situation, you find yourself putting on a little more makeup than usual. By the time you have wrapped up and returned to your room an unread text is waiting for you.
Frankie: Good thinking. See you tonight then.
The rest of your morning has a bit more pep in it than before.
***
Your day at the gym passes by as usual. The only two exceptions were a truck load of last minute Friday Fight Night tickets sales and then compliments on how the gym was smelling. You made a mental note to smack Benny upside the head for throwing such a temper tantrum about it. In between customers you found yourself checking your phone more than you regularly do. You told yourself that it was just because you were excited about the fights and were counting down the minutes and not because you were hoping to receive another text from Frankie. Unfortunately, lying to yourself never really works out.
In an effort to keep yourself occupied, you answer emails from people that are applying for a gym membership, make laps around the gym to see if you need to replace any of the wipes used to clean the machines, and collect all of the dirty towels for a load of laundry. Much to your dismay, these tasks don’t take very long to complete. By 3:30 P.M. you reluctantly slink back to the front desk where the single most unwanted guest is waiting.
“There she is! My favorite receptionist! I’m still interested in knowing your name, darlin’.”
“Good afternoon, Brunson.” You plop yourself down in your chair and pull up the schedule on the computer. “Just working out today? I don’t see that you’re with Benny.”
“You caught me. I want to make sure that I’m in good shape when I fight in a few weeks time.”
For a few blissful seconds you allow yourself to indulge in the idea of Brunson getting clocked, hard, right in the jaw.
“Well, enjoy yourself.” You scan his card quickly in an attempt to move him on his way.
“I always do so when you’re here.” He clicks his tongue at you while he walks past your desk.
“God, he’s insufferable.” You mumble to yourself.
It’s 4:00 P.M. when Benny finally ventures up to the front lobby with you.
“Where have you been? I feel like I haven’t seen you all day, man.”
“Because you haven’t,” He covers his face with his hands and whines into them before coming back up for air. “At first I couldn’t find where the white board I used to write out the fightin’ pairs was. Then there was somethin’ wrong with the beer delivery and they kept me out back for fuckin’ ever. That isn’t even coverin’ all the one on one sessions I've had today or the ones I’m still goin’ to have.”
It’s breaking your heart to see how stressed out he’s getting with all of the things he has to juggle today. You get out of your chair, walk over to him, and rub on his shoulder comfortingly.
“It’s going to be alright, Benny. I’m staying after work to help you set up and Frankie told me that the guys are coming to help around closing too. You won't be in this alone for much longer.”
He places both of his hands on his hips and exhales deeply.
“Thank you,” You can see the earnestness in his eyes. “I really appreciate it.”
“Of course. That’s what friends are for, right?”
He smiles down at you from his 6’2 frame and before you can move he pulls you in for a deadly tight hug.
“Benny!” You can’t stop laughing. “Let me go this fucking instant!”
“Friends like hugs from other friends, right?” He yells over your incessant protesting.
“I’m going to kill you, you know that?!” Your tone of voice doesn’t even sound remotely serious.
Eventually you get him to unlatch himself from you so the two of you can finish up the work day in order to prepare for this evening.
***
You stand back proudly and admire all of your handiwork. Benny put you in charge of setting up the beer table, so set up the beer table you did. You designed a poster to hang on the wall above the table so people would be able to clearly see their options and their respective prices. You set a long, metal tub in the center of the table and filled it halfway with ice. Then you made a little arrangement out of the beer and poured the last half of the ice on it to keep it cold. The cash box was fully stocked and set to the side. All in all, you did a pretty good job. Thankfully, one of Benny’s regulars volunteered to work it this evening.
“All done over here!” You call over to Benny. “How’s the sign coming?”
You watch in horror as he stands up to reveal a barely legible fighting roster. He must have seen your face flounder when you looked at it because he just tosses the dry erase marker over to you and crosses his arms.
“Oh, Benny I-”
“I know it looks bad. I’ve never had a knack for all this creative shit.”
You squeeze his hand as you pass him while heading to the white board. He slides over the roster that has been printed on paper for you to use as your guide. You’re so engrossed with your new task that you don’t notice when the guys come in around 8:30 P.M..
“You sure are givin’ Benny a run for his money this evenin’. The place hasn’t looked this put together in…well ever.” That sugary, sweet southern drawl could only belong to one man.
“Thank you, Will!” You toss over your shoulder.
“Aw screw you, dude. Maybe it would have been if y’all had gotten here when y’all said you would.” Benny notes.
“Blame Fish.” Pope snickers. “He couldn’t find the perfect outfit.”
That got your interest peaked. You turn around to look at what Frankie is wearing. Regular work boots, soft looking denim jeans, a black undershirt, a worn blue button up with the top few buttons left undone, and finally his cap- oh god he’s looking at you. If you had been a smarter woman, you would have noticed that two thirds of the group standing behind you were looking at your sign. That damned one third of the group was watching you trail your way up his whole body. He’s like an oak; completely unwavering as you take him in.
“Well, I like it. ” You squeak out as you turn your attention back to the roster. “Now why don’t you guys go make yourselves useful and help Benny?”
You hear a unified ‘yes ma’am’ come from behind you followed by the scattering of three pairs of feet. There truly isn't anything more sexy than men who can follow orders.
All five of y’all work tirelessly for the next hour to get everything finished before the doors open to the public. When you cross off the last item on your to-do list, you decide that you have earned a drink. You sneak over to the beer table and open one of the coolers that you set up behind it that contains the excess bottles. Much to your dismay, the bottle caps don't twist off like you originally thought. You’re on your knees looking around in the extra bags and praying that Benny had the foresight to get a bottle opener when Frankie walks up next to you.
“Lose something?”
“Just my dignity trying to locate the stupid fucking bottle opener.”
He laughs jovially as he extends his hand to help you up. You take it and sheepishly hand him your bottle when he motions for it. The two of you walk around to the front of the table and you watch as he easily takes out his keys and pops the cap open with a bottle opener he had attached to them. You notice that instead of tossing the cap in the trash he places it back in his pocket along with his keys. Right when he starts to hand the drink back to you he pulls it back towards him.
“Hey! What gives?”
“I have to test it to make sure it isn’t poisonous or something.”
“Oh my god, you dick.” You lean back on the table behind you.
“You won’t be saying that when I save your life.” He takes a small sip and passes it over to you. “Nope. It’s not poison. You’re in the clear.”
Now it’s your turn. You turn to look out at the gym while you take a drink of your well deserved reward.
“Wait,” You look over at Frankie. “What if it's a slow acting poison and now we are both infected? I guess you have to stay here and finish this with me so we can go out together.”
He leisurely reclines next to you on the table and takes the bottle in his hand when you offer it to him. “That's some pretty sound logic. I can’t argue with that.”
You try to stop yourself, but you watch as he brings the frosty glass to his pouty lips. They look more pink than usual against the dark color of the bottle. His hands make the beer bottle look so much smaller than it really is. Your eyes wander to that nose you’re so fond of. God, what would it feel like on your clit as he ate his fill of you? Now that you’re closer to him you’re able to see the gray that's intricately woven into his beard and hair. Would it tickle the inside of your thighs when he buried his face in your pussy? Feelings you haven’t had for a man in a long time rock through your body the further you sink into your fantasy. Drifting even further, his adam’s apple bobs as he swallows the chilled liquid. You want to decorate the sensitive skin with blossoming purple marks.
“What?” He’s looking at you now. “Do I have something on my face?”
“No,” You say almost breathlessly. “I just wanted to make sure you didn’t hog it all.”
“I would never.” The low baritone of his voice reverberates through you.
Benny, thankfully, yells from across the gym at the both of y’all before you do something questionable.
“Hey, lazy asses! It’s showtime!”
You and Frankie both let out a breath neither of y’all realized you were holding. He looks down at his watch and then faces his friend with a mild look of annoyance.
“It’s 9:30, man. It’s just the boxers and the ring girls coming in right now.”
You notice that Frankie’s body immediately tenses up after he says this. Confused, you look over at Benny who has eyes as bright as the sun and is making a beeline towards you.
“I’m sorry.” Frankie whispers down to you. “I’m so sorry.”
“Benny? What are you-?”
“I have a proposition for you.” He says while gripping both sides of your arms. “Do you wanna hear it?”
“I don’t think I have a choice by the look of things.”
“Please be my ring girl.” He gasps.
“Oh my god.” You let your head roll back. “Benny, are you serious right now?”
“Don’t say no yet. Just think about it before you decide.”
You roll your head over to face Frankie and raise your eyebrows. You’re met with a shrug that is just as innocent as his grin.
“Does this offer have an expiration date?” You inquire shifting your focus back to the man that currently has you in a vice grip.
“Just think about it.” He pleads.
“Fine, but I’m pretty sure I’m gonna say n-”
“La-la-la! I can’t hear you! La-la-la!”
“Don’t you have fighters to go hype up in the locker room?” Frankie cuts in.
“Nothin’ I hate more than when you’re right, Fish. Catch y’all in between the matches!”
With one final ‘think about it’, he bounds off into the locker rooms. All you can do is laugh hysterically at what just transpired. Frankie probably thinks you have lost your mind with the way you are doubled over right now.
“Hey let us in on the joke, why don’t you?” Pope sits next to you on the table.
“I could use a good laugh as well.” Will adds blithely.
“What you two could use is a reality check.” you walk around the table and grab a beer for each of them. “God, I can’t believe him.”
You hand Will and Pope their drinks completely forgetting about taking the tops off. Fortunately, that didn’t stop them. Will snatches Pope’s beer out of his hand and positions the bottles where one has its cap resting just barely on the edge of the other's cap. Then he slams them down on his knee and Pope’s opens with ease. After he hands the open one off, he pops his own with a thick ring he’s wearing.
“I’m thoroughly impressed, Will. What the hell was that?”
“You just gotta learn to make due sometimes.”
Frankie and Pope both mutter ‘show-off’ under their breaths as Will explains to you the physics behind his little trick.
“Okay, now back to what Benny was talking about.” You adjust your stance so you can better face the group. “Are y’all in on this? This ‘ring girl’ shit?”
“Can’t say it wouldn’t be fun though.” Pope prods his finger at you.
“Oh, yes I can.” You say swatting at him.
“You know, Benny. Once he sets his mind to somethin’ he’s pretty determined to see it through.”
“That doesn’t even begin to answer my question, Will.” You groan as you take the beer from Frankie’s hand.
The movements between y’all are so natural, so fluid that it feels like something you have been doing for years. You see Pope, almost in shock, watch you as you take a drink.
“Can I get some of that?”
“No way, man.” You shelter the bottle against your body. “Three is a crowd and you literally have an open one in your hand.”
“Will’s right,” Frankie reasons with you. “Benny is as one track minded as they come.”
“Tell him to get on another track then.”
“How about this?” Pope counters. “You go into the locker room with Benny and see what it takes to be a ring girl. Then and only then will he accept your answer of ‘no’ if that’s still what you want.”
“If that will get him off my case then that's fine with me.”
You start to turn towards the locker room doors when a blue sleeved arm reaches over your shoulder and plucks the beer from you.
“Hey, give that back!”
“I just want to make sure you don’t hog it all.” Frankie’s tone is thick with sarcasm.
“I would never.” You grin.
Pope waits until you have cleared the locker room doors before he whacks Frankie in the shoulder. Unfortunately, Frankie doesn’t see it coming because he is too busy hoping to catch one more glimpse of you.
“If that's how you act around women you think are ‘just cool’ then I’m terrified to see how you act around women you actually like.”
“The fuck was that for? And the fuck are you talking about, man?” He massages the spot where Pope smacked him.
“Will, please tell me you aren’t as blind as he is?”
“Sorry, Fish. I see it too.”
“See what?”
“That you look like a goddamn catfish whenever you look at her! Eyes all big and mouth agape.”
“I do not.” Frankie mutters.
“Come on.” Pope folds his arms across his chest. “You think she’s cute.”
“What are we in middle school? You’re being ridiculous. Will?”
“I’ll be honest, I wanna know too.” He flashes that signature boyish Miller smile.
All Frankie can do is laugh nervously while he removes his cap and runs his fingers through his hair. He knows that he’s in the middle of a losing battle and that he’ll have to concede. They are going to be ecstatic that a woman other than Rochelle has caught his eye. Especially when it's a woman that meshes so naturally with their group. No, what’s stopping him is that a part of himself wants to keep it a secret. To have something that is just his. No prying eyes, no unwanted advice, no consequences, and no one else has to get hurt but him. As soon as the acknowledgement of his affection for you falls from his lips, it's real. As selfish as it sounds, he wants to keep you at arms length. He feels like everything he touches breaks and he doesn’t want you to become the next casualty. You wouldn’t want him if you knew the truth about the things he has done. But then you smile or laugh and he can feel himself falling deeper and deeper into his delusions of grandeur.
“Well, if you don’t like her then maybe I’ll ask her out.”
“No, you won't because,” Frankie puts his cap back on. “I think she’s cute. Are y’all happy? I like her.”
“Atta boy, Fish!” Will cheers.
“I knew it!” Pope says as he pulls Frankie in for a hug. “She’s a good one, man.”
“I know she is. I just don’t know if I’m going to do anything about it right now.”
Will’s hand comes to rest on his shoulder. “Why’s that?”
“I don’t want to fuck it up. To drag her into the shit show that is my life. I don’t even know if she feels the same way either!”
The two other men nod in understanding. Frankie takes a sip of the drink he stole from you and sighs as he looks up at the ceiling.
“All I know is…is that I like her.”
“Shh!”
“Pope, you were the one that wanted to talk about this!”
“Shut the fuck up! She's coming!”
“Y’all ready? I’m going to open the doors for everyone!”
The three of them use the time it takes you to unlock the doors and arrive back in order to regroup from their previous conversation.
“Did you,” Will clears his throat. “Did you like the view back there? See a future in being Benny’s ring girl?”
“I like the view from right here, thank you very much.”
“So,” Pope rubs his hands together. “Who ready to see some dudes get the shit beat out of them?”

i don't wanna look at anything else now that i saw you
“How do you feel?” Is the first thing you hear when you wake, rolling over on your makeshift bed to find Mando standing at the cave entrance again. He’s leaning against the wall with one shoulder, his hip cocked out, one leg bent casually.
Kriffing hells, how is he so attractive when all you can see of him is his posture and his impossibly shiny armour?
You force the thought from your mind, blaming it on your half-asleep state.
“I don’t know yet,” you answer with a grimace. It’s been two days since your fall. The pain is better, though the rest of your body feels stiff now, muscle soreness finally catching up with you after the tumble. There hasn’t been another storm, at least, so Mando has managed to hunt for every meal so far. He goes out to get water every morning, filling canteens to the brim. He makes you drink so much that sometimes it feels like you’re swimming in it. “Hydration helps with healing,” he says every time, even though you already know; he says it just to counter your playful glaring at him every time he hands you the flask.
“Sun rose not that long ago,” he cranes his neck to gaze up at the sky, “if you’re feeling up to it, we can probably travel today.”
You manage to sit up, but the minute you do, pain shoots down from the wound on your calf and into your ankle. It circles there around the joint and throbs. “Have we got any more ice packs?”
“One more,” Mando answers as he heads right over to his medpack and gets it out.
“We should ration it,” you hold out your hand to stop him activating it. “For when we’re travelling. I’ll probably need it.”
He looks down at the pack, hesitates. Then nods and puts it away. “Do you think you’ll be okay to travel today? If so, we should move soon, make the most of the daylight.”
Shifting a little, you try to get a gage on your body, how it feels. A grimace makes its way onto your face without your consent. Everything hurts. Literally everything. Muscles you didn’t even know you had are strained and stiff.
But you’ve been here for two days. He’s been stranded here for four.
“If the answer is anything but yes,” his voice cuts through your rapidly declining thoughts, “then my answer is no.”
Relieved, you smile. But you protest, “Mando, you’ve stayed with me so long now. I can make my own way back.”
“No,” he says definitively. “We move when you’re ready.”
You relax, settling back against the wall. You’re too sore to argue.
“The kid’s enjoying the vacation, anyway,” Mando says, the lilt of a smile in his voice.
As if summoned, Grogu steps forward from his little bed at the back of the cave. He yawns, his tiny mouth opening as wide as it can go, his eyes screwing shut.
Oh, Maker, he is adorable.
“You take time off a lot?” You ask with a wry smile as Mando scoops the kid up into his arms.
The huff of a laugh comes through his helmet. “Not really.”
“Why am I not surprised?”
Mando tickles Grogu’s cheek, earning a little giggle.
You watch them. There’s that warmth again, creeping its way between your ribs, around your heart.
You have to look away.
All three of you are starting to get a little stir crazy by the time the night comes around.
You’re feeling better, though. Mando’s hydration obsession is working to help loosen out your stiff muscles. It doesn’t help, though, that you have to keep getting up every hour to pee. Especially because you have to tell Mando every time nature calls, which is, admittedly, rather humiliating—it shouldn’t be, it’s fucking natural, but he’s Mando and he’s been making you feel a certain way, and you don’t want to have to admit to this terrifying yet comforting man that you have to piss. It’s even worse that he has to help you hobble outside, then walk away while you do your business, and come back and pretend to not notice the puddle sinking into the ground.
It’s demoralising. Your cheeks are tired from flushing red all the time.
But he insists on you drinking enough, even when you protest.
“I don’t mind doing this, you know,” he says as the sun sets, an arm around you as you hobble to the designated Nature Area.
“Yes, you do,” you grumble, kind of just wanting the ground to open up and swallow you whole.
“I don’t,” he insists. “It’s fine. Besides, it’s good to move a little.”
“A little? Mando, it’s every hour, on the hour, at this point.”
The unfamiliar sound of a soft laugh comes through his helmet. If you didn’t know any better, you’d say it sounded fond. But you’ve never heard a laugh like that. So. “It’s good. Just call me back when you’re ready.”
He never comes back until you call, no matter how long it takes you.
It isn’t lost on you, either, that you never would have been able to do this on your own. You’d have had to piss where you sat. Which seems like a worse concept than just ruining your leg, and subsequent mobility, forever by forcing yourself to walk home.
As darkness approaches, Mando takes his flashlight—yours is long dead by now—and puts it in the far end of the cave. He stays over there, rustling in his pack for something. Curious, you watch, wondering what he’s doing; he angles the light strangely, propping it up with a few stray rocks on the ground, and then fishes out a small piece of canvas, pulled from what remained of your tent. He puts it over the flashlight, folds it once.
Then, the light is softer. Diffused around the cave.
Grogu, who is sitting against the wall playing with a little silver ball, looks up at the newly-lit cave walls and laughs in glee.
“You like it, kid?” Mando asks him.
The kid claps his hands together, gazing around. Mando laughs softly and sits back down beside the kid, watching him.
You’re watching Mando. It’s impossible not to, with the soft light reflecting from his armour in a new way, casting new highlights and shadows across every curve and edge. You wonder what places he’s been, how he’d look in all kinds of light. Harsh, bright, sunshine of a bright summer’s day, the dark ashy colour beneath rain clouds.
“Mando?” You find yourself saying.
He looks up at you, one hand holding the kid.
“Tell me about somewhere else you’ve been,” you request. “Please?”
“Where do you want to hear about?”
“Anywhere. First place that comes to mind.”
For a second, he’s quiet, just looking at you. Considering. When he speaks, he doesn’t say what you expected him to, and his voice is softer than it should be. “You really want to travel, don’t you?”
And, okay.
That hits a nerve.
You look away, blinking. It’s clear that you’ve tensed, that something has made you uncomfortable; and you expect him to backtrack, to apologise, but he just waits. So patient, like he wouldn’t mind if you didn’t say anything, or even if you just told him to fuck right off. You wish you could see his face, decipher his expression. Match it to the soft curiosity of his lovely voice.
“Yeah,” you manage on a shaky breath, imagining yourself up there, in the vastness of space, free to explore the Galaxy. “Yeah, I do.”
Quiet again. He’s giving you space.
You take it, let it sink in.
Then, his voice is there again, “So why don’t you?”
And if that isn’t a question and a half. “It’s, uh,” you clear your throat. You’re about to say it’s complicated. But that doesn’t even cover the half of it. Instead, feeling a cold, familiar dread slowly creeping through your veins, you say, “I like it here.”
He doesn’t say anything, but he looks at you still, some kind of unexplainable patience coming from his dark visor.
It’s unclear if he can hear the omission of the truth.
You don’t want to lie to him.
You’re sitting here, in a cave that he so beautifully lit as best he can, on top of a bed that he made just for you to be comfortable, after he’s helped you pee about twelve times a day for the last two days. He’s been nothing but kind.
And it’s not that you feel like you owe him answers because of that. Nor, in fact, that you think he feels you owe him answers. His quiet, unassuming patience in the dim intimacy of this cave is proof enough of that.
No, it’s not that.
It’s that you’ve been alone for so long. You’ve never said this to anyone.
And after all this, once you’re back at your hut and you’ve fixed his ship together, he’s going to leave. And you’re never going to see him again, anyway.
So.
“Truthfully,” you say, “as much as I like it here, it’s not where I’d choose to be. If I had another choice.”
Instead of staying still and silent, he starts to nod. His gaze is unwavering, solid and stable, weaving its way into the tension and uncertainty beneath your skin, soothing it.
Grogu gets up and waddles over to you. He climbs clumsily into your lap.
Then, with a quick look to Grogu, Mando says, “I understand.”
And that, those simple words, make something release in your chest.
The weight of your confession doesn’t feel as heavy as you’d expected. In fact, it feels like something has lifted in the air between the three of you. Like even the kid understands.
Well.
This is new.
-
As the third morning in the cave rolls around, you wake up feeling much better.
Once you’ve relieved your always-full bladder, you tell Mando as much, staggering back into the cave and to your bed. “You can stop over-watering me now,” you tease as he lets you back against the wall, gentle. Your hands are on the backs of his arms, and slide all the way down them as he moves away. You wish you could linger there, and the way he moves so slowly, his visor gazing down into your sleepy eyes, makes you think that he wishes that, too.
As your palms brush against his wrists, he seems to catch himself. He pulls away quickly and turns to distract himself with the kid.
“So, you’re ready to travel?” He asks.
“As I’ll ever be,” you reply, staring at him from behind. He has a nice behind. (And you need to stop. Immediately.)
“You can lean on me. We’ll take it slow, I promise.”
Kriff, say that again… “I’ll be alright. You’ve got enough to carry.”
He looks at you again. “I’m leaving the parts here,” he says, like that should be obvious.
“What?” You frown. “But your ship…”
“Once we find our way back, and you’re safe, I’ll come back for them.”
“Mando, I can manage. Seriously, we should take the parts. You’ve been here long enough.”
The helmet tilts. “You trying to get rid of me?” It would concern you, if the teasing in his tone wasn’t arousingly obvious.
You just about manage to recover from the stirring in your belly, and you laugh, “Totally. Sick of you already.”
The kid, standing beside him, looks at you and makes a sad noise. His ears turn down towards the ground.
Kriff. “Hey, I’m just kidding,” you assure him with a smile. As a peace offering, you reach your hands out to him, and he relaxes in an instant, immediately plodding over to you and climbing into your lap. You hold him, give him a quick hug, then just let him sit there. “Don’t tell anyone, but I’m actually gonna miss you,” you whisper into his ear. He coos happily, tugging at a loose thread on your coat.
When you look up, Mando is, of course, staring at you. This time, you know for sure that it’s at both you and the kid.
“What?” You ask.
“Nothing,” he answers after a moment of hesitation. “I’m going to pack up. Then we can move. You okay to sit with the kid?”
“You know I am,” you smile, and watch as Mando nods and heads outside.
That pang in your chest is back. Well, you’re not sure when it turned from a slow warmth into a pang.
But it’s there. Too obvious to ignore.
For a few miles, you manage pretty well. It took some convincing, but you got Mando to agree to taking the parts along with him in the end. You do lean on him, but only when moving over particularly rough terrain, fallen logs, or exposed tree roots.
“How we doing?” Mando asks at around noon.
“Fine,” you say, feeling a little breathless.
“You sure?”
“I’m sure. We can stop soon for a break.”
Another hour passes, your ankle is starting to throb, and you’re really fucking glad that you saved that ice pack for this exact moment.
Mando sits you down on a fallen log, keeping his arm around you until you’re properly seated, lingering just a little too long for you to tame the way it makes your heart beat wildly. To feel the heat of him through his flight suit, your hands and arms pressed to parts of him not covered by armour, just the soft parts; it’s a lot. When you first saw him, this wall of metal, you never thought you’d see any further than that. Kriff, you never even thought he’d get closer to your hut than he was when you had your blaster pointed at him.
Maybe that would have been best. Because if he’d just left, if there was another way for him to get the help he needed, you wouldn’t be thinking about him the way you are right now.
The softness of the crook of his elbow, the curve of his waist and hip. The warmth of his skin that you have yet to see an inch of. All of the weapons strapped to him, so close to you, close enough that if it were anyone else, you’d be scared.
But it’s Mando.
This might be the least scared you’ve been in a lifetime.
He cracks the ice pack to activate it, then kneels down in front of you. Reaching out to grab a smaller log, he places it under your ankle, elevates your leg slightly. Then his gloved fingers tug at the hem of your trousers. “Can I?” He asks.
Kriff. You nod, unable to form words.
The rough-yet-smoothness of the gloves is all you feel at first, brushing delicately against your skin as he lifts your trousers, then unlaces your boots, gently pulling them off, followed by your socks. Your ankle is more swollen than it had been this morning, but you’d expected that.
And, besides, that is not what you’re thinking about right now.
Instead your mind can only focus on the softness of his hold under your foot, the gentle way he places the ice pack on top of it. The heat of his hand starts to come through. You wish it was his bare skin. Wish you knew what his skin is like. Is it calloused, or soft from always protecting them? Does he have scars? Is the hair on his arms dark, light, a thin covering or thicker, perfect to run your fingers through—
His hands are gone before you realise it. It takes your glitching mind a second to catch up.
You chase him with your eyes, silently wishing for him to come back.
But then.
Then.
As he turns away, he reaches for the flask in his satchel. You watch his hands lift to his helmet, take a gentle hold of the base of it. At first you panic, thinking he’s about to remove his helmet, no you don’t have to do that it’s okay—
But he just lifts it the tiniest bit, such a small movement that you only know it has been lifted because he puts the rim of his flask to his lips and takes a sip.
You can’t see his skin, not a hint of it. But you can hear him drinking, hear the water against his lips, the gentle gulps as he swallows.
And the way it entrances you, takes you away from the forest and the pain of your ankle and the fact that this is so not appropriate for you to be thinking—yeah, it’s probably for the best that he can’t ever show his face to you.
You look away before he even lowers the helmet again.
-
Maybe the worst part about all this is that you’re starting to dread Mando and the kid leaving.
That’s not how this was supposed to go, not how any of this was supposed to play out. You helped him because it was the right thing to do, because it’s exactly what They would tell you not to do, because your life has been the same every single fucking day since you got here.
But that’s been fine. It’s been safe.
“Pass me that wrench?” Mando asks, breaking you out of your thoughts.
You pass him it, noting the tilt of his helmet in a wordless ‘thanks’ before he turns back to his job. He’s up on a ladder, leaning against the ship’s exterior wall with one of the panels fully off, fixing something to do with the foundation for the body.
His ship is bigger than you’d expected. He tells you that it’s bigger than his old ship, the Razor Crest, but only by a little. “It’s a similar shape,” he’d said, “but it has two bunks and more space. For the kid.” He has a star fighter too, apparently, docked at some other base off-world with a friend of his. It’s funny to imagine him with friends, though you’re not sure why. Especially because, since getting to know him the last few days, you know how generous he is. How kind, helpful. Gentle, despite everything.
Why wouldn’t he have friends?
Beneath him, you sit on a crate and lean against the ship, waiting for him to give you more instructions. The engine has been mostly fixed now, as much as it’s ever going to be out here in the middle of nowhere using scrounged-up parts. He’s just getting the last of the body work done, enough to make sure it’s aerodynamically sound.
It’s interesting, watching him work. You ask a lot of questions, and every time you do, you expect a frustrated sigh or an exasperated response. But he answers every question thoroughly, and it doesn’t even distract him from his work.
The sun is warm against your face. The afternoon of Mando’s fifth day on this planet is drawing to a close, fading into the evening. As the sky turns to duller shades of blue, tinted with oranges and pinks, you can’t help but admire the way he looks beneath the light. His armour is always the same, always so distinctive, yet it reflects different lights in different ways. Sometimes it makes the beskar appear darker, like a gun metal grey. Other times it’s a bright silver. Then there are times like this, when it goes with the colour of the sky, reflects the beauty of everything surrounding him.
You think back to the light in the cave, how that looked different still. The urge to see the Galaxy comes over you again, though this time it’s not staring at his ship and dreaming about taking off in it that does it; this time, it’s wondering what he looks like in even more places, more environments. Does the metal get hot in the sunshine? Or is it always as cool as it’s been when you’ve had the chance to feel it before?
The kid is sitting on the ground in front of you. There’s a beetle scuttling around in the mud, and Grogu is toying with it, blocking it off when it runs one way, then doing the same when it runs the other. You wonder if he’s going to eat it, or if he’s just having fun by being cruel to the little six-legged creature.
“Don’t play with your food,” Mando says to him, answering your silent question.
Grogu looks up at him. His ears turn downwards, sulking. Mando ignores his obvious pleas to change his mind, turning back to his work. When Grogu looks back at the beetle, he only just catches it before it runs off, and instead of toying with it anymore, he just shoves it in his mouth with a loud crunch.
You find yourself smiling at him. He smiles back, ears lifting again.
“Alright,” Mando starts to step down from the ladder. You reach out and hold one of the ladder’s legs, knowing he probably doesn’t need you to, but still not wanting to risk it. Ladders make you nervous. “Think that’s the best we’re going to get.”
You look up to the ship. He’s fixed the panel back on again. Now all that remains is the burnt metal from his “interesting landing”, with some bends in it, exposing little sections of the framework beneath. It’s definitely a patchwork job. But it looks better than it did when you got here this morning. So.
“How’s your leg?” He asks as he folds up the ladder.
“Good,” you answer. It’s stretched out in front of you, propped on another crate. “Ship looks good.”
With a resigned sigh, he puts his hand on his hips, and tilts his helmet to look up at his handiwork. “No, she doesn’t. But she’ll do.” Then he looks back to you, “I couldn’t have fixed it without your help. Thank you.”
You shift under his gaze, unable to help it. Every time he looks at you it feels like his eyes can see right through you, and the part that makes you uncomfortable is that it doesn’t make you uncomfortable. Self-conscious and disgustingly aware of your own inappropriate, lustful thoughts? Yes. Uncomfortable? No. You don’t think it ever could.
“Of course,” you say eventually. “And, hey, I’ve got a scar to remember our little adventure by, huh?”
He laughs softly. You see the shake of his chest as the chuckle comes through his modulator. “I’m not sure that’s a good thing.”
“Hm, no. But there’s no gift shop around here. So.”
He shakes his head, and you imagine, hope, that he’s smiling under all that beskar. He certainly looks casual, a hand on one hip, one leg relaxed while his weight rests on the other.
“Do you always stare so much?” You find yourself asking with a teasing, daring quirk of your brow.
“Yes.”
“At everyone, or just me?”
He pauses. Your heart rate spikes briefly as you wait for his response to your terrible excuse for flirting. “At everyone,” he answers eventually, and disappointment starts to set in before he says, “But it’s harder to look away from you.”
Oh.
The disappointment quickly shifts to nervousness, heart beating fast again as you clench your hands in your lap. He just stands there, staring despite the awkward and loaded silence between you, and stares. As if he’s making his point by offering an example.
You look away. Suddenly, your cheeks are hot. “You hungry?” You find yourself asking.
He pauses again, then nods. “Yes.”
“I’ll make us some dinner. You just come back to the hut whenever you’re ready.” It’s only as you stand to hobble back home that you realise he might not want that. You swivel back around to face him, backtrack, “I mean, unless you want to eat out here. Your ship’s fixed now, I guess you can—you can stay in that? You don’t have to come back with me. I’ll be okay.”
Again, getting more and more infuriating with each silence he lets stretch out, he just stares. Kriffing hells, does he ever stop!?
“Would you let me cook for you?” He asks, finally.
You weren’t expecting that.
Shifting weight to your good leg, you raise your eyebrows. “You want to cook me dinner?”
He nods once. “Yes. To thank you for all your help. And as a farewell.”
You’ve been trying your hardest not to think about that part. It sits in your stomach, cold and dreadful and confusing, too far down for you to swallow it. “Alright,” you agree with a soft smile. “I can’t promise I’ve got any decent ingredients, though. You might have to perform a miracle.”
“I’m up to the challenge,” he says, hooking his thumb over the belt around his hips. You’re distracted by it, finding your eyes sliding down to his middle before you catch yourself and look back up. The tilt of his helmet suggests he might have seen your gaze shift. “I’ll walk back with you. Just give me a minute.”
You can’t find a reason to refuse.

Mini Masterlist - Part One - Part Two - Part Three - Part Four - Part Five - Part Six
Falling.
The harsh whipping of wind against your skin is all you can hear as you tumble towards the earth. Each breath is a struggle as you attempt to fill your burning lungs with air, the pressure of such an altitude detrimental to your every move. Your chest aches, throat scraped raw with the shrill shrieks of terror that escape you as you tumble through the sky. Tears leak from your eyes uncontrollably, lids squeezing shut in tandem as you can barely get a grip on your surroundings.
Everywhere, all you can feel is pain.
Free falling has always been described to you as a feeling of utter weightlessness, but there isn’t a cell in your body that you cannot feel. All of which are heavily screaming at you in terror.
Never have you been able to feel the full weight of your heart as you do right now, every twitch of your fingers sending jolts of unpleasant electricity racing up your arms. The cold of your body slicing through the air is unlike any sensation you’ve felt before, and with every foot lost, you gain momentum.
Is this how it all ends? After nearly killing a man that you love, having him admit your worst fear for the moment that you are to blame, and having your heart nearly burst from your chest at the sheer pressure of its pulse, you will land upon the earth like a falling star?
Your skin begins to heat, replacing the utter cold you had been feeling only moments before.
You don’t want to die. Not like this. Not now.
You got yourself into this mess, you can certainly get yourself out of it. Though, you have no idea how far the ground is from you. You could make impact at any second, and you count yourself lucky that you’ve lasted this long already.
Concentrating hard, you focus in on your room back home. Perhaps you can simply transport yourself onto your bed, and forget that this ever happened for a little while. Hopefully, you won’t be disturbed, either. None of them will probably want to see you, anyways. Not after what you’ve done to their brother.
Yet, no one will be able to blame you as much as you blame yourself. The guilt begins to eat you alive, mind darkening into that familiar negative territory the longer you allow your thoughts to go unchecked.
A sob tears from your throat.
Faintly, you feel several worried brushes against your void. Three are much more urgent and firmer than the others, constantly keeping pressed up against you as their strings all hum furiously with movement.
What would happen should you choose to open your mind to them? Would they forgive you? Would they figure out what’s going on and leave you to suffer?
No. You know that they wouldn’t. They could never.
But then, how long would it take for them to find you?
Too many thoughts continue to race through your mind, clouding your better judgment and drowning you in self-doubt. Your emotions are all over the place, but the constant ache in your chest reminds you of the harsh reality that has just occurred. Honestly, you just wish you could numb the pain.
How much time do you have left? You seem to be falling for quite a while. Perhaps you started from a higher altitude than you had originally realized. Jongho’s blood is still running through your veins, after all.
Again, several frantic brushes against your void are felt, much more urgent than the first.
Fear grips you once more as you attempt to crack an eye open. You can barely see through your blurred vision, the wind whipping passed you and stinging you all over. All you can recognize is mountains, and a large lake that seems to be getting closer and closer with each passing second.
Another scream of absolute horror rips passed your lips. You feel as if your heart is about to burst from the intensity of its beating within your chest. The ground below gets closer and closer, and your mind scrambles with what to do.
Only one thought begins to get clearer and clearer: you need help.
A glint of gold flashes out of the corner of your eye, and your whole body shakes as a tremendous roar pierces through the air. A presence begins to fall alongside you, large and ominous, but you do not feel threatened. No. Instead, you are relieved; comforted in an unfamiliar way as a faint glow begins to emanate from your brow.
Suddenly, it’s as if the whole world stops.
No longer feeling the intense harshness of the wind as it whips passed you, you crack open your eyes.
A level view of the surrounding mountains greets your gaze, and it is then that you realize that you are gliding through the air. Your hands grip onto something solid beneath you, and when you look down, you see scales beneath your fingertips.
Not just any scales.
Dragon scales.
The dragon is unlike any that you have seen before, the sheer size of it spanning at least fifty metres in length. The scales are a matte black, gold weaving throughout the cracks between and glinting beneath the light of the moon. Spikes line the crown of her head, golden veins lining the horns which protrude from her skin. Seamlessly, she blends into the night surrounding her, nothing more than a dark blur against the clouds.
You don’t have to meet her gaze to know that it’s a deep gold.
A second later, and a dark blue dragon circles around the larger one’s back, followed by a green amphiptere who’s tail flicks worriedly behind her. Both shift to fly closer to you, situating themselves above the large dragon you rest upon and flanking you on either side.
Silent tears continue to stream down your face the entire flight back to the dragon’s nest. Luckily, it seems as if you’ve managed to teleport yourself quite close by.
Fifteen minutes later, and that little cliff face is in sight, an albino wyrm slithering restlessly back and forth.
Mon is the first to offer you help down from the large dragon’s back, sliding up beside you and allowing you to grip onto him as you climb down. Both Xiron and Yerra hover close by, offering their assistance in any way that they can.
A blink, and Wyno is standing before you.
You don’t even have a chance to say anything before both of her hands are coming up to cup your face tenderly. Nothing but concern can be seen in her golden eyes as she searches your gaze.
“My Child,” her voice is low, steady as she searches your bloodstained face. “What happened?”
Several frantic brushes are felt against your void, each male trying desperately to reach out to you. You know they’re probably worried out of their minds right now, but the feeling only makes you feel worse.
For the third time that day, you break down.
Immediately, Wyno wraps you in her arms, your whole body collapsing into her hold. Sobs wrack your entire form, tears streaming seemingly endlessly from your eyes as your grip tightens around her. Gently, she strokes your back, cooing comforting words into your ear as she begins to calm you down.
You can faintly hear worried whines coming from the three young dragons surrounding you. Soft coos of their own escape them as you feel them tenderly nudge their heads against your lower back and legs. A reassurance that they’re all here.
“Shh,” Wyno brings a hand up to cradle the back of your head. “My Child, let it all out. I’m right here; you are not alone.”
You sob harder.
“Whenever you’re ready, My Child, know that I will listen to whatever it is you have to tell me.” She assures you.
Your void rumbles. Urgently, each male attempts to reach out to you, desperate for an answer.
Faintly, you brush back.
The instant you finish brushing against their strings, their attempts to contact you strengthen tenfold.
You nearly stumble on your feet, legs threatening to give out at any moment. The constant feeling of them pressing against your mind only makes your mood drop further, your throat tightening as your emotions consume you.
“I can’t-“ you shake your head, whole body trembling in her embrace. “I can’t-“
“Let’s get you inside,” Wyno keeps her voice steady, wrapping her arm around your waist carefully for support as she begins to guide you towards the cave.
A minute later, and she’s sat you down in a small wicker chair. Another, and a steaming cup of tea is handed to you, the three young dragons surrounding you on either side. A cloth rests in her hands as she dabs the damp material against your skin, cleaning the now long since dried blood from your features.
Slowly, you manage to get your breathing under control, thanking Wyno lightly. She sends you a small, tense smile back. Once she’s finished cleaning you up and attending your wounds, she pulls a silk robe around her shoulders. Then, she’s sitting across from you.
“Do they at least know where you are?” Calm are her words, gentle in her inquiry.
You shake your head, taking a light sip of your tea.
“Do you want them to know where you are?”
A brief pause where you consider her question.
A blink, and you’re shaking your head yet again.
“At least-” your voice comes out raw and strained. You clear your throat. “At least not for now.”
“I do not know what happened, My Child, but do not underestimate the lengths they will go to find you.” She addresses you cautiously. “They would tear the whole world apart looking for you.”
Your gaze drops, a sadness taking over your features.
“Do they at least know that you’re safe?”
“I-“ you sigh, squeezing your eyes shut as your head begins to pound beneath their constant bombardment. “I don’t know.”
Wyno inhales a deep breath before making a clicking sound twice through her teeth.
A blink, and Stella appears hovering in the air between the two of you.
Softly, the raven coos at you, circling lightly around your head as she sees the state of distress you seem to be in.
More clicks can be heard from Wyno, Stella landing on your shoulder and standing at attention. You swear you almost see the raven nodding in understanding.
“Do you have anything on you that Stella can bring to them to let them know you’re alright?” Wyno turns her golden gaze to you.
“Uh,” you swallow lightly, blinking all the while. “Yeah.” You clear your throat. “Yes.”
Moving your hands to the back of your neck, you unclasp the necklace you always wear. The chain hangs precariously from your hand, the replica of Arwen’s Evenstar dangling like a gem in the somewhat dim light of the cave.
“I have told Stella not to let them know where you are until you are ready to see them, but they are stubborn.” Wyno informs you. “They might demand she tell them. They may search her mind, or force it out of her with their powers. Either way, she will stay with them until the task is complete, and I summon her again.”
You nod your understanding, watching as Stella gently clasps your necklace in her beak by the chain. Another soft coo is heard from her.
“She wishes you well,” Wyno hums, somewhat approvingly. “Also, that she’ll peck out the eyes of whoever hurt you.”
You manage a small chuckle at that.
“Thank you, Stella.” Your lips pull upwards weakly in the corners. “But I did this to myself.”
A concerned caw greets your ears.
“Hurry, Stella,” Wyno inclines her head. “Before they start tearing the realms apart.”
In the blink of an eye, the raven has disappeared from sight.
Your gaze falls to the cup in your hands, thumb tracing the side of the ceramic gently. Your shoulders curl in on yourself, but at least you immediately begin to feel some relief from their constant brushing against your void. Still, you recognize those same three strings - one royal blue, one lavender, and one yellow - all humming faintly in worry, even more so than the others.
“Now,” Wyno draws your attention back to her once more as she sits forward in her seat. “What is it that you believe you’ve done that warranted you crashing to the earth like an astroid of old?”
Your whole body stills, and you swear you forget to breathe. Finally, that feeling of numbness you had so desperately been hoping for begins to spread throughout your body. It starts in your chest, creeping outwards as you continue to stare down at the cup of tea held desperately in your hands.
Your lips part, only to close shortly after. No words escape you despite the fact that it all wants to come spilling out. You don’t want to burden Wyno with your problems. Problems of which you hadn’t realized had still been bothering you until today.
“Speak, My Child.” She keeps her tone steady, but still tender all the same. “It is best not to allow these thoughts to fester, lest they continue to consume you. I promise that I will listen, and provide my best insight should you desire it.”
Mon soon slithers beneath the legs of the chair, resting his head by your feet and nudging you in comfort. Xiron comes to sit on one side of you, while Yerra takes the other. Faintly, you register the feeling of a wing wrapping around your back in comfort. Turning your head, you see a translucent blue hue shining beneath the light of the cave. You smile weakly.
“I-“ Again, your voice catches in your throat. “I don’t know where to start.”
“Begin wherever you deem it necessary for me to understand.” She smiles assuringly at you, a hand reaching over to squeeze your knee.
Softly, you nod your head. Taking a deep breath in, you begin.
You do not start at the very beginning, no, but you go far enough back where you deem all of these current issues started.
Naturally, you begin with Miyeon’s torture. You explain to Wyno every minute detail of that day that demon appeared in their domain. Nothing is spared, and you divulge to her the hurt you had undergone. The hurt you’re still suffering from because of her. Facts of which even the males have never been privy to, lest they recall the state your body had been in when they arrived back home.
The way you can see her jaw clench, claws sharpening into points as she curls her hands into fists on her lap has you shifting in your spot. Low, threatening growls escape her with each exhale, her fangs on full display as her lips curl back over her teeth.
Luckily, none of the males seem to appear at any point. Looks like Stella is keeping them away for the time being. A fact which helps your shoulders to relax, even unknowingly, the longer that they stay away.
Quietly, Wyno takes your one hand in hers, listening to everything you have to tell her. She is able to calm herself enough to allow you to continue, patiently sitting beside you the whole time and offering you comforts in her own way. You don’t seem to realize, but when you are explaining what happened three days after the events of Miyeon, your whole visage begins to glow softly.
Recovery is a tricky path to navigate, but even she can tell that those eight males have helped you in more ways than you realize. You spoke true two days ago, and you understand that. Even if your state of mind seems to be battling your logic and reason for the moment.
Sometime during your recount, you manage to finish your cup of tea. You place the empty cup down, only for Yerra to gently rest her head in your lap. The young dragon nuzzles into you affectionately, nothing but worry shining within her eyes. Though, she cannot help the way they flutter shut once you begin to stroke your free hand over the top of her scales.
The more you speak, the more you seem to relax. The words flow from you like a steady stream, cleansing your soul with each second that passes. The fact that Wyno simply just listens is more than you could have ever hoped for right now, and you’re grateful she’s letting you get it all out.
When you finish your recount of the harpy meeting, Wyno finally allows herself to let out a snort.
“You certainly did put that chicken in her place, My Child.” She grins, noticing how your lips quirk faintly. “Only a true Queen could do that.”
You can feel your cheeks heat, thanking her lowly before continuing.
Finally, you begin to breach the events of the last twelve hours. Of course, you remain vague about all of the explicit details, but from the knowing look in Wyno’s gaze, you can tell that she’s long since figured that out.
“Yes, I had assumed something of the sort,” Wyno nods, recognizing how you begin to slow down in your retelling as the most recent memories begin to consume you. “I can smell him all over you.”
A grimace crosses your features as your fingers begin to subtly press a little firmer into Yerra’s head. She appears to be sleeping, eyes closed as her chest rises and falls evenly while resting in your lap.
“You consumed his blood.” Not a question, but an observation.
“And he consumed mine.” You confirm.
“Which explains how we found you tumbling through the air earlier.” Wyno nods.
Your brow furrows. “I did that?”
“My child, who else could it have been?” She chuckles. “You have already divulged that the eldest’s blood allows you to glance spirit souls. Is it not so farfetched to believe that the youngest’s could allow you to teleport?”
“No.” You rub the tips of your fingers together gently over the skin of your thumb, mocking the way they would trace over your therapy pebble. “I suppose you’re right.”
“Now, tell me what warranted all of this.” She squeezes your other hand reassuringly.
You take a shaky breath in, averting your gaze in shame as you confess to everything that has just happened to you.
The whole time, Wyno remains quiet. Her golden eyes scan your face carefully, noting every small twitch of your brow and downturn of your lips. She can hear the pain you fight through with each word. The guilt, self-doubt, and remorse you hold onto comes through loud and clear.
Your gaze is haunted, and a chill runs down your spine. There are tears in your eyes as you admit to what Jongho said right before you disappeared, whole body trembling as you succumb to your emotions once more.
Faintly, you register Mon slither out from beneath the chair.
“My Child, please look at me,” Wyno’s voice is gentle as she shifts forward on her chair to get closer to you.
You raise your head, whole body nearly jolting as you feel something being placed carefully onto your shoulders
“Do you truly believe those were all of the words that he wanted to say?” Wyno reaches forward to help Mon wrap your jacket around your upper body.
Your whole body deflates. “I don’t know.”
“After the evening you have just told me the two of you had shared, do you truly believe that he would blame you for this?” Wyno attempts to reason with you, hands rubbing over your arms lightly in comfort.
“How could he not? It’s all my fault.” You choke on a sob.
“Tell me, My Child,” she manages to get you to meet her gaze and you notice her eyes flash, “do you blame them for what happened with that one?”
You blink, caught off guard by her sudden question. “Of course not! I could never-“
“Do you not think that they do not blame themselves for everything she has done, and all that she continues to do to you?” Wyno continues to reason.
“But it’s not their fault! I-” Your voice catches in your throat.
Wyno quirks a brow, looking at you expectantly. You fall silent.
“We act in ways we deem appropriate at the time in which these incidents occur. It is not your fault you were deceived; you do not control the actions of others.” She holds you firmly in her grip, squeezing your arms reassuringly. “You do not think I cannot still see the guilt that clings to them for ever allowing you to reach such a broken state at another’s hands?”
You remain quiet.
“You nine are all more alike than you think.” She hums. “Yes, you probably could have taken a moment to think things through, but when someone you love is at stake, logic is not always your friend.”
“Jongho still got hurt because of me.” You reply lowly, eyebrows drooping as you stare at the ground.
“You said he jumped in front of you. Not once, but twice, correct?” She tilts her head knowingly.
You nod your head.
“Then, that was his choice.” She shifts her hands to hold your own in her grasp once more. “He could have let you been hit both times, but he chose to save you. I have known him far longer than you, My Child, and were he feeling truly petty, he would have let both those weapons meet their marks. Do not twist his efforts to protect and help you into something that they are not. I have seen the way he looks at you. How his aura shines alongside your own. Do not make the man you love into a heartless monster. Least of all towards you.”
Tears begin to gather in the corner of your eyes for the nth time that morning, and you do whatever you can to blink them away.
The sun begins to rise over the horizon.
“Just because you blame yourself, does not mean that they will.” Wyno is a bit blunt when she says this, but you know it’s all spoken with good intent. “You made a mistake, and it seems as if this was the final piece which shattered the glass you had been looking through to keep yourself sane.”
“My Child, you are trying so hard to be brave, and strong when you haven’t allowed yourself proper time to grieve who you once were. Whether any of you wish to acknowledge it or not, that woman did kill a part of you that day. You may not have ceased to breathe, but she certainly destroyed a portion of who you once were. A portion you may never get to reclaim, nor should you want to.”
Wyno takes a moment to pause, inhaling deeply before she continues.
“I did not lie when I said that you have become stronger because of what has happened. Everything in your life leading up to this moment in time has made you who you are. As much as you wish to believe that you are passed this trauma, it will live with you every day until this whole rebellion is complete.” She states. “Whether it will end in victory or death, that has still yet to be determined. Do not create more issues where none lay.”
Your hands begin to shake, the numbness that had been felt throughout your entire body receding.
“But this is an issue, Wyno!” You practically spring to your feet, barely registering the huff of surprise Yerra lets out as she just catches her head from hitting the floor. “I indirectly hurt their brother. I nearly caused the death of a man I love because I let fear control me. How could they even bear to look at me now after what I’ve done? This incident has only just solidified that I’m barely holding myself together. I can put up a brave front, and act like I’m fine, but I’m not! I’m no Queen, and I need to stop pretending to be one.”
Wyno takes a moment to observe you carefully, golden eyes trailing over your figure as she watches you tremble in your spot. Your admission seems to have surprised even you, your eyes wide as your chest heaves.
“What is it you are truly afraid of, My Child?” She stands to her own two feet slowly.
At the way you remain silent, she’s quick to continue.
“Do you truly believe that they could hate you for this? For anything, for that matter?” She takes a step closer, staring you down all the while. “Do you believe they would turn on you for worrying about your family in the same ways that they worry about you? You have already confided in me that they've told you that they do not blame you for this. Is it not within yourself to believe them? Have they ever lied to you, least of all when your own feelings are concerned?”
Your hands cling desperately to the edges of your jacket, tears beginning to stream down your face as you watch her approach. Faintly, you register Mon brushing up against you back and holding you steady.
“Even now, I would bet all of the jewels in all of the realms that they are continuing to reach out to you in that mind of yours to know that you’re safe.” She says. “To know that you are still alive and breathing.”
Sure enough, you feel the faint brushes of assurance from all seven of them as soon as she says this. All several of their strings continue to hum in worry.
“Do you know how difficult it is to convince that Captain of theirs to change his mind when he sets his own course of action?” Wyno comes to stand before you now, placing her hands onto your arms reassuringly. “None of them have the ability to be patient when your safety is at risk, let alone your own personal wellbeing. I would bet anything that they wanted to appear here instantly after pulling the information out of Stella using any means necessary. However, they held off. For you, because that is what you asked of them.”
Your breath hitches slightly in your throat.
“Your Eight Kings do not particularly enjoy taking orders, or listening to others who attempt to command or control them.” Her tone is firm as you meet her gaze. “However, they will always listen to you.”
A blink, and you’re swallow thickly.
“No, My Child. There is no need for you to pretend to be their Queen,” she wipes your tears away so gently as she cradles your face in her hands. “You already are.”
You lower lip wobbles and she pulls you back into her embrace. One of her hands supports the back of your head while the other strokes comfortingly over your spine. Again, you bury your face into the side of her neck.
“Whether you know it or not, whether you acknowledge it or not, they have always viewed you as their Queen.” She whispers lowly into your ear.
A shudder wracks your chest as you attempt to catch your breath.
“Let me ask you this, My Child,” she tilts her head so that it rests against your own. “If the roles had been reversed, would you not have done the same? Would you not have given anything to protect him in the moment, if you had been able to?”
“Without question.” You breathe, tightening your hold subconsciously around Wyno’s back.
“This is not the first time you have experienced each other being injured in front of your very eyes.” Wyno says, and your mind flashes to the very first time you had ever met the dragons. “I’m sure it will not be the last.”
You let out a shaky chuckle. “No, I’m sure it won’t.”
“Then, cease this pointless self-blame you seem to be so adamant to condemn upon yourself.” She pulls away to stare deeply into your eyes. “Acknowledge your emotions and allow your mind to rest. It does no good to dwell on the things we cannot change. I’m sure those Kings of yours would tell you the exact same.”
The corner of your lips quirks slightly. “I tell them that all the time.”
Wyno shoots you a playfully incredulous look. “Well, there you go, My Child. Afford yourself the same leniency.”
Darting your gaze to the floor, you let out a small sigh. “I suppose you’re right.”
“Suppose?” Wyno chuckles. “My Child, I am always right.”
A playful wink is sent your way, and you cannot help the soft puff of laughter that escapes you.
“Now, go get some rest.” She motions for you to follow Mon who brushes his head against your back again in comfort. “You must be exhausted.”
A nod is all that you can muster in response as you allow yourself to finally relax. A wave of intense fatigue washes over you, body instantly slouching as you turn to face Mon. Slowly, you trudge after him down a side path leading deeper into the cave, eyes blinking tiredly as Wyno’s words echo through your mind.
She’s right. Your emotions were high, and you overreacted. You didn’t even give them a chance to calm you down before you unknowingly transported yourself away. Still, it doesn’t make what Jongho said in the moment hurt any less, even if that might not have been what he meant.
Perhaps this is exactly how Seonghwa felt all those months ago when he royally screwed up. He did look the most concerned out of all of them, a sad understanding on his features as you practically clawed at your own face in worry.
Speaking of, you’re pretty sure you’re body is still covered in blood despite Wyno cleaning your face. Only, you cannot find the energy to care right now. Not when Mon seems to lead you to the nesting area, nudging you towards what you assume is his own bed.
With the help of Mon, you’re laying down, allowing the wyrm to settle close to you for warmth as he wraps himself protectively around you. Softly, he coos to you, and without another word, you allow the gentle rumbling of his chest to lull you to sleep.
Meanwhile, Wyno heaves a tremendous sigh as she paces back and forth just inside of the cave’s mouth. Boris’ eyes track her every movement, his head resting on the ground as he looks up at her. Repeatedly, she taps her fingers over the skin of her crossed arms, golden gaze glinting in the dark semi-dark of the cave.
For twenty long minutes, Wyno allows you to rest with the babies in the nests’ deep chamber. Long enough to sort out her own thoughts before summoning those Kings of yours here.
Making her way outside of the cave with Boris in tow, Wyno looks out upon the cliff face. Briefly, her eyes dart over to the spot where Xiron had been pinned down by an arrow, your body hunched over him for protection.
She takes a deep breath.
The second Wyno clicks her teeth to alert Stella of her request, they all appear before her. Frantic looks of concern are clear on Wooyoung’s, San’s, and Mingi’s faces, and even Yeosang is having a difficult time maintaining his composure. Seonghwa’s hands twitch, while Yunho’s gaze darts every which way in search of you.
The longer all of them go without seeing you only increases their worry tenfold. Of course, it doesn’t help that they felt a shift in your internal workings of your mind just over twenty minutes ago.
“Where is she?” Hongjoong steps forward, a wild look of desperation on his features.
“Calm yourself.” Wyno commands, raising a hand to halt him in his tracks.
Hongjoong’s eyes flash, his nostrils flaring.
“You dare tell me to ‘calm myself’ when Our Queen has been missing for hours?” His voice is low, ominous as a hint of a growl coats his words.
“She has not gone missing. She’s been here with me this whole time.” Wyno replies cooly. “I thought Stella informed you that she was safe.”
A caw is heard from the raven as she flies over to perch on Wyno’s shoulder.
“She did.” Yunho responds, somewhat bluntly. His one hand is closed into a fist, your necklace clutched tightly in his grip.
“Please, Wyno,” Yeosang begins. “We’ve been worried sick.”
“I am well aware of your urgency.” Wyno’s eyes flash, noticing how both San and Wooyoung begin to pace restlessly before her.
“Then, why won’t you let us see her?” Wooyoung snaps, clear irritation on his face as he chews on his bottom lip.
“We’ve been waiting this whole time for a summoning.” Seonghwa adds, nothing but urgency in his tone. “Please, don’t keep us from her any longer.”
“I called you here because it is easier for you to come to me, than for me to go to you.” Wyno begins, keeping her voice even and breathing steady as Boris shifts beside her.
“Are you saying that you’ll deny us entry after everything?” Hongjoong’s lips pull back in a snarl. “She is Our Queen, not yours. She does not belong to you.”
“Neither does she belong to you.” Wyno retorts, quite pointedly. Already, her patience is wearing thin.
Several low, threatening growls sound from across from her.
“We aren’t afraid to tear that whole nest apart to get her back, Wyno.” Yeosang states, tilting his head pointedly as he narrows his gaze at her. “Friend, or not.”
“Each threat you speak does not make me confident in allowing you access into my home to retrieve your beloved.” Wyno stands tall, shoulders squared as she looks across at all of them. “If you would stop to listen for five seconds, you would have already been led inside by now.”
Again, Seonghwa’s fingers twitch, but they all choose to remain quiet.
“Before I grant you access, I need to know that my own words which I have spoken in reassurance to her are true.” Wyno says, eyes narrowing pointedly. “As much as I do know you, you can all be quite unpredictable when it comes to her.”
Several low warning growls reach her ears once more.
“So, she told you what happened.” It’s not quite a question that escapes Mingi’s lips, but the hesitance comes through all the same.
“I know that because of what happened, her mind was in such a fragile state, she condemned herself to fall upon the earth freely.”
A collective stillness passes over all of them as both San and Yunho inhale sharply. Immediately, tears are springing to Wooyoung’s, Seonghwa’s, and Yeosang’s eyes. Mingi’s whole body begins trembling, chest heaving with every breath.
“No…” Hongjoong falls to his knees.
“We were lucky the bond alerted us to her distress, even unknowingly.” Wyno continues. “Even now she is still riddled with a tremendous amount of self-doubt and guilt. My words can only help her so much. She needs you.”
“Then, why are we still standing outside?” Wooyoung grits his teeth, tears cutting tracks down his cheeks as he steps towards Wyno.
A warning rumble escapes Boris’ chest, and Wooyoung scowls, freezing in place.
“Do you want to know what her biggest fear out of all of this was?” Golden eyes observe them carefully, watching every subtle twitch of their brows.
“Wyno-“
A sharp look from the dragon stops Mingi’s words right in their tracks.
“She was terrified of you.”
Their hearts drop, and each male stills in their spot. Not even their chests move as they forget how to breathe, more tears falling freely down each of their faces.
“She was terrified of what you might do to her in retribution for harming Jongho.” Wyno infers. “She believed, despite it all, that you would hate her. That you would despise her, and curse her very existence for what she’s done.”
This time, it’s Seonghwa who falls to his knees. His hands brace himself on the ground, sobs wracking his entire body as he attempts to catch his breath. All he can think of is how badly he’s failed you yet again.
Yunho places a hand onto Yeosang’s shoulder, noticing how the younger male has gone eerily quiet. Were it not for the fact that Yunho can still hear Yeosang’s heart thundering inside of the shorter male’s chest, he would have thought that the younger had died as soon as those words had left Wyno’s lips.
Immediately, San wraps Wooyoung in his embrace, letting the younger male sob violently into his neck. Both of them begin shaking uncontrollably, clinging to each other for dear life.
Behind him, Hongjoong can hear Mingi cursing. Knowing the younger male, he’s probably pacing and ripping at his hair as tears fall freely from his eyes. However, all Hongjoong can do at the moment is stare forward, nothing but the crushing weight of devastation suffocating his heart and flooding his entire being with a numbness unlike ever before.
“But she didn’t harm him.” San’s voice trembles, and he feels Wooyoung squeeze him tighter.
“It wasn’t her fault.” Yeosang states, voice sounding much calmer than he is right now.
“We would never-“ Seonghwa chokes on a sob, “could never blame her for this.”
“There is next to nothing in this world, or in all of the realms that could make us hate her.” Yunho keeps his words low, even. “Let alone blame her.”
A firm nod from Wyno is all they receive in response.
“How could she ever think we could hate her?” Wooyoung’s breath stutters with his wails, that complete feeling of devastation choking him out just as it does with the others.
“I do not think she had been thinking clearly, given the events that had occurred throughout the night.” Wyno says. “You seven should be all too familiar with what the weight of crushing guilt can do to your reason. All rational thought ceases to exist.”
A hushed understanding passes over all of them as they nod solemnly.
“Please, Wyno,” Hongjoong finally lifts his gaze. “Please, take us to her.”
Never before has Wyno seen the man before her look so utterly broken. Yet, she knows. She just knows that this is all just fallout from that reckless and selfish demon who has haunted you since the eight of them all fell in love with you. Since they chose you to be their Queen.
Softly, Wyno nods her head.
“I will take you to her.” She voices gently. “However,” they all tense, “you need to all realize why I had to go about it this way.”
“Do you truly believe that we are capable of ever hurting her?” Mingi’s crestfallen expression says it all.
“No.” Wyno shakes her head lightly. “I do not.”
“Then, why-“
San’s inquiry gets cut off by the eldest’s shaky voice.
“You did this for her.”
Wyno’s golden gaze flits between all several of the males now turned towards her. Her expression says it all.
“Come.” She turns, guiding Boris back into the cave with her. “She’s currently sleeping.”
The walk through the cave is silent, save for the few sniffles that Wyno can hear coming from some of the males behind her. Luckily, they seem to manage to compose themselves just as they reach the nesting area.
Frowns tug at their features as they don’t immediately see you.
“Where…?” Hongjoong’s brow furrows, knowing that he and his brothers can just make out the faintest hints of your scent mixed in with the rest.
“There.” Wyno motions off to the side with her head.
Shifting their gazes to where Wyno has guided them to, they see both Yerra and Xiron curled up with each other. A wing from each dragon is spread out between them, as if covering something hidden beneath.
Slowly, the two babies retract their wings as they get closer, and the sight that greets them would normally be adorable given any other circumstance.
There you rest, curled up with your arms around Mon as you sleep soundly. The babies surround you on either side, keeping you warm as your jacket seems to have fallen off of your shoulders. Mon is more than happy to be held in your arms, and he continues to let out gentle coos as you sleep, reassuring you that they’re all here to protect you.
Unfortunately, it seems as if the slight shifting around you has woken you up.
Groggily, you blink around at your surroundings, your head lifting as you attempt to gather your bearings for the moment. With the help of Mon, you manage to sit, rubbing at your eyes all the while as he slithers around your back. The albino wyrm curls around you protectively as you hear several sharp inhales come from in front of you.
You freeze, but what you fail to see is how all of them take a hesitant step towards you.
A soft call of your name has you slowly lowering your hands, somewhat cautiously. You blink to clear your vision, and the instant you see them all standing in front of you, tears spring to your eyes once more.
Nothing but concern is on each of their features as they look at you, their hearts squeezing painfully as they hear your own begin to thunder inside of your chest.
Carefully, San takes a step forward, his hand raising to reach out to you. “Baby-“
“I’m sorry.” Your lower lip trembles, the first of your tears spilling onto your cheeks. Your voice is raw, all of the events finally catching up to you as you attempt to clear your throat. You squeeze your eyes shut, whole body beginning to shake. “I’m sorry.”
Arms wrap around you instantly, and you jump as you feel yourself being pulled into someone’s chest. Unknowingly, your one hand fists his shirt for dear life.
“Shh, My Divine.” Seonghwa soothes you, rocking you gently in his embrace as his hand strokes over the back of your head. “It’s okay.”
You sob harder, more apologies falling from your lips.
“It’s not your fault, Dearest.” Yeosang keeps his voice low so as not to startle you.
“We’re not mad at you.” Mingi is the next to speak. “We could never be mad at you for this.”
“Please, My Love, do not think that we are.” Hongjoong kneels beside you, reaching out to tenderly caress your back.
“If anything, we thought we were going to lose you.” Yunho breathes, a hint of fear clinging to the edges of his words.
Wooyoung collapses in front of you, grasping your hands in his desperately. “Please don’t run from us like that again. We would never forgive ourselves if something happened to you.”
“We could never hate you, Starlight.” Mingi whispers, stepping in closer.
“Please don’t be afraid of us.” San pleads, swallowing somewhat thickly. “We could never, never hurt you, Baby.”
With each male that speaks, you manage to calm down more and more. Apologies no longer fall from your lips, and your breathing is starting to even out. It seems as if you’re able to finally begin thinking clearly with all of them surrounding you like this.
Softly, you begin to nod your head and a collective sigh of relief if heard from all of them.
Wooyoung squeezes your hands, smiling at you faintly. “Please, don’t scare us like that again.”
“We were in a frenzy trying to find you until Stella showed up.” Mingi admits, running his hand through his hair which stands on end in every direction.
“Let’s get you home, My Love.” Hongjoong stands, helping you to your feet along with Seonghwa.
A catch in your breath as you are swooped up into the eldest’s arms.
“You should get some rest, My Divine.” He pulls you tighter against his chest, holding onto you securely as if you might disappear again at a moment’s notice.
All you can offer them is a small nod in response before you’re all turning to face Wyno once more.
“Thank you for watching over her.” Yunho tilts his head in acknowledgement towards the alpha of the dragons, clutching your necklace a little firmer in his hand.
“Always.” Wyno hums, a small upturn to her lips as she watches you rest in Seonghwa’s arms. It looks as if you’ve finally calmed down, for your head leans against his shoulder, your breathing evening out steadily. “I am more than happy to provide for one of our own.”
Exhaustion tugs at the edges of your consciousness, but you force yourself to stay awake. Just enough so that you can turn your head towards Wyno.
Softly, you incline your head in her direction, blinking at her gently as you mouth your gratitude. She mirrors your movements, a tender smile pulling at her features in understanding.
“Go home, My Child,” her voice is low, nothing but a sweet caress to your ears. “Allow yourself to rest.”
A small nod is all she receives in response before the eight of you are disappearing from sight.
The front foyer is quick to greet you after that. It appears to have been cleaned, everything back in its regular place, and no Jongho in sight.
Seonghwa goes to take a step towards your room before your voice is halting him right in his tracks.
“Please,” the call is weak, but they all still manage to hear, “I need to see him."
An understanding passes over all of them, and immediately, Seonghwa is stepping towards the youngest’s room with the others surrounding you both. Hongjoong is quick to push open the door, guiding the way inside as you all follow behind. Once beside Jongho’s bed, Seonghwa softly sits you on top of the covers.
Swallowing thickly, you take in the sight of a still unconscious Jongho. He looks so peaceful, sleeping soundly beneath the comfort of his sheets. His chest rises and falls evenly, and he doesn’t appear to be in any pain, but you still cannot prevent the way your heart twists in guilt seeing him like this.
You bring a hand up to cup his cheek, thumb stroking tenderly against his skin.
“He’ll be okay, Dearest.” Yeosang reassures you, moving to sit beside you on the bed.
“He just needs some rest,” Wooyoung affirms, a slight nod to his head.
“Just like you do, My Love.” Hongjoong places a comforting hand onto your shoulder.
“Are you injured?” Mingi finally voices his concerns, noting how all of his brothers turn to observe you carefully now.
You shake your head, voice rough as you speak, “Wyno healed me.”
“We’re sorry we couldn’t be the ones to take care of you this time.” Seonghwa averts his eyes in shame, and you notice how the others do as well.
Again, you shake your head. “That’s not on you. That’s on me.”
“Petal,” Yunho’s worried voice reaches your ears.
“It seems all we ever do is apologize to each other,” you say, somewhat lowly.
“It’s hard not to feel remorse when it concerns the one you love.” Hongjoong squeezes your shoulder gently, and you’re briefly reminded of that talk you had with him in the garden all those months ago. You place your hand atop his. “Come. Let’s get you cleaned up.”
You look up at him, protests forming on your lips.
“You’ve had a long night, Dearest.” Yeosang reasons, helping you back to your feet. “You need to rest.”
“Besides, he’ll probably be all better by the time you wake up.” San assures you, a light smile pulling at his features.
A small weight is felt settling onto the skin of your upper chest, and you turn your head to see Yunho securing your necklace behind you.
“Thought you might want this back.” His voice rumbles out lowly, a faint upturn of his lips as he sees your fingers brush over the jewel hanging over your skin once more.
“Come on, Angel.” Wooyoung begins to lead you out of the room with Seonghwa. “We can talk about everything later. For now, let your mind rest. We promise we’ll take good care of you.”
You nod, allowing the comfort of Your Kings to surround you once more as you fully embrace the light of the morning sun shining through the windows. The night might have been dark, but you know. You just know that everything will be alright with them by your side.
Jongho will be fine.

It is Monday, and Monday is for books. Look at these beautiful things! They took me five months to make. I tried so many new things in the process and I am extremely proud of them. This is a binding of @racketghost's amazing Good Omens fic Strange Moons (Hi. I hope it's ok I tagged you in this. Your fic has been one of my favorites since I found it in 2019.) The story is a series of short fics (and one long one) that really need no introduction from me. They're set throughout the 20th century, and they are beautiful and sensual and moody and you should definitely read them if you haven't already. This is the longest work I've bound so far, but I was fortunate that the word count on the shorter fics added up to almost exactly the length of the final, longest one, making them the perfect choice for a two-volume set. I tried very hard to get them to be an exact match, and they turned out even better than I pictured.
More pics under the cut! Two books means twice the pics, and all the stuff I tried here means it's a very long post, so be warned.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Individual images of the covers. The titles are done in silver htv over brown faux leather, edged in charcoal bookcloth. The graphics are the same on both, except for the title text, and they have the same image of the reaching hands on the back. All the art assets are from rawpixel, I just flipped and rotated some of them to make the back image.
The cover materials were an interesting challenge. I'd worked with both before and wanted to incorporate them both in the design, but after measuring and checking grain direction I found I didn't have enough of either of them to do a full book, or even a half bind. So they're actually made by affixing the faux leather to the book board, then layering strips of book cloth over the top. The corners are actually mitered at a 45-degree angle. Here's a close-up:
Tumblr media
It's two long strips of cloth (spine and fore edge, not mitered) with two short strips (top and bottom, mitered) glued over the top. There was so much measuring, omg. I bought a new tool to make sure I got it right. Hilariously, I still didn't have enough leather and had to order another roll anyway. Also hilariously, I got the idea to do this after seeing an image of a leather-bound book made by a professional that appeared to have the same feature, i.e. multiple materials with an inset and mitered corners. Wow, I said, looking at a video thumbnail, I'm going to do that! So I did, even though I didn't watch the video. Much later, after I watched his tutorial, it was clear that the design was from leather dye and tooling, not the thing that I did at all. But I do like the effect, and now I know it's possible I think it'll be great for using up weird offcuts from making other covers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look, spines! With TITLES on them! And LITTLE RIDGES! Both firsts for me. I'm a little obsessed with them. The cricut has opened up entirely new worlds, though I suspect the little silver lines might have been easier to do with a foil pen (which I don't have) than they were with a heat press. I did them by making the cricut cut out several "=" symbols that were the same width as the spine. The raised bands are false bands; I made them by layering little pieces of chipboard on the spine stiffener, then molding the book cloth around them when I covered them. I was worried it wouldn't work, since this is usually done with leather and book cloth is apparently way less stretchy, but it worked fine. Probably because it's a small straight design, no curves or fancy bits. I'd layer the chipboard thicker next time so they stand up higher (this is 2 layers, I'd do 3 in future) but I'm delighted by how this turned out. They look so professional.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The endpapers on both books are a constellation print. I had a really hard time trying to find something to go with the typeset, and the only ones I liked were from an etsy seller who kept selling out of them. I got lucky eventually but it was one of many hassles that befell this project. I also made my own end bands using a tutorial from the Renegade Bindery discord. I had some issues and I didn't quite nail them but I think they're pretty good for a first time (ok, second time, the first one was on a practice text block, but my point stands). I had originally intended this to be a split boards binding, my first time trying that, but when I got the boards glued on I found that they were crooked. Really crooked. Completely misaligned. Much swearing followed this discovery. I ended up having to cut the boards free, cutting the mull and tapes in the process. The mull was easily replaced, but the parts of the tapes that are usually glued to the boards were a lost cause. I reused the boards, but flipped them so the edge with the cut tapes inside is at the fore edge so I could have a cleaner hinge. You can see in the last photo that the cover board is a little wider at the fore edge. On the plus side, there are no tapes to wrinkle my pretty endpapers and it combated the small bit of spine swell I had. On the downside, the hinge has less support and the only thing I learned was How Not To Make A Sewn Boards Binding.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I may have gone a little nuts with the images in this typeset. In my defense they look very pretty. In order, that's the title page, table of contents, section break image (same as the back cover, just tiny), chapter header and ender (each chapter has one on its first and last pages, they just look particularly cool when you can get a full page spread like this), and the image on the last page of the book (same as the cover image, almost). The cover image was also supposed to have little rays coming off its moon like this one does, but the lines proved too thin for the cricut and it ate them. I still like how it looks though. The prose in this story is really rich and I was in the mood for opulence when I did it. I have absolutely no regrets.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here's a feature that's unique to this typeset. One of the chapters in the second volume has three alternating, interwoven timelines. I read them fine on Ao3 but had trouble following them when I formatted it for printing. Usually I'd use the section break image to denote when there's a scene skip but there are literally dozens in this chapter, like 40-60 breaks over the course of 10 or so pages, and it looked very busy with images in it. So I left them out, made the line skips single instead of double like they are elsewhere in the book, and I color-coded the text instead. One timeline is printed in black, one is dark gray, and one is dark blue. And it's a very surreal chapter, with the characters having some very confusing and conflicting emotions, so I feel like reading multicolored text when you're not expecting it (the rest of the book is all normal black and this bit is near the middle) sort of reflects that unbalanced feeling? I hope so anyway, because I love the way it looks so much.
I learned so many things in the course of making these. I'm absolutely doing all of them again. Part of the reason it took so long was that I wanted it to be perfect, or as near as I could get, and I had to take the time to solve all the puzzles it threw at me. But it stretched my creativity and ingenuity and I could not be more in love with the finished product.

Repair My Broken Gears
Something is wrong with Scar. Cleo regrets signing up for this.
(That’s a lie. They’re terrified what would have been if they hadn’t.)
CW: loneliness, arguing? that’s about it
in which sera takes a single line of dialogue scar had about knowing loneliness and runs with it
(also i was thinking of @stiffyck the entire time i was writing this so like. sorry if this tag is unwanted lol)
>>>>>>>>>*<<<<<<<<<
Look, Cleo isn’t worried. She isn’t. She isn’t.
But-
It’s just-
She sighs, running a hand through their tangled orange hair as they watch Bdubs and Scar bicker and laugh by the animals.
It’s something about the way Scar seems so insistent on finding a way to be useful. How he makes off-handed comments about knowing what it’s like to be alone, accompanied by a flippant laugh that does nothing to quell the small pit that grows in Cleo’s stomach at the words. How his face will fall for a split second when Cleo jokes not to call them “mom” before bouncing back to that damn grin of his. How that grin becomes so much more real when she does something as simple as toss him some food or ruffle his hair.
So no, Cleo isn’t worried. Just… healthily concerned.
They can practically hear Joe lecturing them about emotional awareness. He is so lucky he doesn’t come to these things, otherwise she would be whittling his clock down without a second thought.
A shout rings out across entertainment mountain, and Cleo sees Scar holding Bdubs’ clock- the one Impulse gave him, not his countdown- above his head, well out of the shorter man’s reach. As Bdubs lets out a string of words that sound way cruder than they actually are, she sighs. She should probably go stop them before one of them falls off of the mountain. Again.
Void, she really did just pick two idiots to team with, didn’t she?
Still, as she approaches the two men, she can’t find it in her to regret it.
“Scar! Bdubs!”
Their gazes snap towards her, eyes wide. Bdubs is the first to start talking.
“Mom-“
“Not your mom.”
“-he took my clock!”
Scar quickly stuffs his hands in his pockets, trying and failing to look nonchalant. “What? No I didn’t!”
Cleo raises an eyebrow at him.
“… ok, I did, but he started it!”
“I DID NOT!” Bdubs tugs on Scar’s arm, trying to get his hand- and subsequently, the shorter man’s clock- out of his pocket. This, to no one’s surprise, does not work, mostly because Scar is a good foot and a half taller than Bdubs. This does not stop him from trying.
This also does not stop them from bickering with steadily increasing volume.
“Hey, hey, hands off the merchandise, Bdubs!”
“I put my hands where I darn well please! You keep your hands off my stuff!”
“I don’t have your stuff!”
“Bullcrap! I see it in your pocket!”
“I have no idea what you're talking about.”
“Jeez! If I had known I’d be getting conned with my own schtuff I’d have had second thoughts about this team-up!”
It’s almost unnoticeable, so quick that Cleo can almost convince herself she imagined it. But, for a split second, Scar flinches.
“I- Well, it’s what I do, Bdubs!”
“You con and lie and bully! This is bullying!”
Void, Cleo does not get paid enough for this.
“BOYS!”
The two men freeze in their tracks.
“Scar, give Bdubs his clock back. Bdubs, apologize for yelling- actually, wait, both of you apologize for yelling.” They cross their arms, staring the men down.
Bdubs sputters. “What- no, I’m not apologizing, why wou-“
He’s cut short by a soft clinking sound. With wide eyes, he looks between his hands, where his golden clock now sits, and Scar, whose gaze is fixed firmly on the ground as he turns away.
“Sorry, Bdubs. I’ll just- yeah. You’re good. Sorry.”
“I- sorry, Scar, I shouldn’t have-“
“No, no, you’re fine! You can just- you stay here with Mo- Cleo, I’m gonna go get- get some air.”
“Scar, wait-“
Bdubs’ words fall on deaf ears as Scar hops off the rocks, towards the base of the mountain. He turns to Cleo, brow furrowed. “Was it something I said? Did I-“
“I don’t know, Bdubs.” The pit in her stomach is back, gnawing and twisting as she stares at the spot where Scar just was.
“… what do we do?” His voice is quiet, so unlike how it normally sounds. It makes Cleo want to shake him until he’s back to his usual self.
“We don’t do anything.” She sighs, turning to face her friend. “You go ahead and get some rest. I’ll talk to him.”
“But-!”
“No buts.”
Bdubs sags, his shoulders slouching considerably. Cleo reaches forward, laying a hand on his shoulder.
“Hey, Bdubs.” She waits until he looks up, meeting their eyes. “It’ll be ok, alright?”
Bdubs pauses before nodding hastily. “Of course, of course- I- I have no doubt. The great Bdubs just- just needs to go get some sleep.”
“You go do that.” They squeeze his shoulder one last time before letting go, turning towards the edge of the mountain.
“Goodnight Mom!”
“I will stab you in your sleep!” She tosses over her shoulder as she carefully slips down, doing her best to take minimal fall damage.
Scar is… much farther down than they expected. It takes a good minute of scaling down to finally see him, walking around with a frantic fervor and muttering under his breath. The words become clearer as they approach, and with them, so does the anxious feeling creeping in her mind.
“… can’t go back up to the chests. There goes my chance at a monopoly. Still, it’s between that or them being mad at me for taking stuff and then-“
“Scar?”
The man freezes in his tracks. Cleo takes a step closer.
“Scar, what was that up there for?” She tries to keep her words from being cruel, but receives a flinch nonetheless. She’s not sure how she expects him to respond, but…
“Sorry, I’m leaving. It- It’ll not happen again, no need to worry!” The upbeat tone has no place with the shaky voice and trembling hands accompanying it as he begins pacing again.
“You know Bdubs wasn’t actually that mad about the clock, he’s just like that-“
“No, no, he had every right to be, right? I was being a bad teammate. But- but don’t worry, I am getting out of your hair-!”
“Scar.”
Silence.
“You don’t have to leave.”
“But I do!” He faces them now, finally faces them, but they almost wish he hadn’t. His face is still in that wide smile, bright as the sun, even as tears run down his cheeks. “That’s how this works, right? Scar’s alone! Again! All he does is lie and cheat, he doesn’t care. Just betray him! You mean nothing to him anyways!” His chest heaves with unshed sobs, and his eyes are screwed shut.
“It’s not like I can bring anything else to the team,” he continues. “After all, I die and I die and I die, I die and try to make stupid deals that only an idiot would take! Which makes me the biggest idiot of all, right? I-“
No one knows what he was going to say next, because in the same moment, a pair of arms wraps around him impossibly tight. He can’t stifle the gasp that escapes him at the contact, the warm warm warmth that enveloped him as Cleo squeezes, making his ribs creak and his heart swell. His tongue feels useless in his mouth, any words he could say stopped up in his throat.
“Scar, I want you to listen to me.” Cleo murmurs, not letting go. “We don’t want you here because you’re useful, or pity, or any of that. We want you here for you.”
He tries to talk, void he tries, but all that escapes his lips is a high-pitched keen. Cleo- beautiful, crazy, kind Cleo- simply hugs him tighter, rubbing a hand on his back so firmly and gently that it makes his heart ache.
“It’s ok, it’s ok. Let it out. We don’t want you to leave, the exact opposite.” She leans forward, resting her forehead on his. “We love you, Scar. We don’t want you to be alone.”
That’s all it takes for the dam to break.
Three games’ worth of pent-up sobs echo through the landscape as Scar sags, crying into Cleo’s shoulder. They hold him up, carding their fingers through his tangled hair. She doesn’t speak, but she doesn’t need to, because her arms are around Scar and she’s here and she isn’t leaving-
He doesn’t know what he’s done to deserve this, how he’s atoned for all his sins enough that he has Bdubs to tackle him in excitement when Cleo leads him back to their home. He doesn’t think he’s done enough to warrant one person being stuck with him in one of these horrid games, especially two people.
He doesn’t want to let it go, though.
The universe ticks down. Their lives lose length with every passing second they spend like this.
But they aren’t alone, none of them, and they won’t be again.
(And if Cleo doesn’t chastise Scar the next time he calls her Mom? Well, nobody needs to know that.)

Tumblr media
Kamishiro Rui:
I gaze up at the clear blue sky, a frown overtaking my lips as I think of the past events that occured throughout the day. I don't understand people sometimes. Is it so hard to accept that some people are different? Why do people think it's necessary to go out of their way to pull a prank and spill water on my new robots?
Sighing, I shake those thoughts out of my head. There's no use dwelling on the past. I shouldn't let their actions bother me. I should strive forward, fix my robots, and maybe be a bit more wise with where I place my inventions.
I soon enter my neighborhood, my hands in my pockets, before hearing a notification from my phone.
Curious, I retrieve the electronic from my pocket and read the text.
Y/N:
'Hi Rui. It's me. But you probably already know that since your contact name for me is probably my name. Anyway, do you..... Wanna come over to my place? To study of course'
A smile creeps onto my face at the mere thought of seeing my crush. I quickly text her back and turn around, now heading to her neighborhood.
Upon arriving at her house, I walk up to the doorstep and ring the bell. Seconds later, the door opens, revealing her in all her cute glory.
"Greetings, Y/N. May I come in?"
I say politely, forming eye contact with the girl.
"Yeah..... Yeah! Yeah o-of course you can come in. Come in!"
Y/N speaks awkwardly as she steps aside, and I find myself chuckling at her sudden nervousness.
As requested, I step inside the small and cozy home, quietly analyzing it.
"This is quite a nice home you have, Y/N."
I place a hand under my chin as I compliment the interior of her house.
I watch her nod before she speaks.
"Uh, no one's home, so I guess we can just study in the living room."
I nod at her suggestion and take a seat on the table placed neatly in the corner of the living room.
The study session soon begins, and I feel myself slowly forgetting about my worries and stress the more I spend time with her.
After about 20 minutes of studying, my attention is drawn to her when she suddenly stops speaking.
"Y/N? Are you alright?"
I ask, curious as to why she suddenly stopped speaking, as if she was a robot and someone just switched off the power button.
"I like you."
...
What?
Did I hear that right?
Did she just say she liked me?
"Pardon?"
I speak before almost immediately getting cut off.
"Do you.... Want to go out with me?"
Once more, her blunt words catch me off guard, though there's a warm feeling along with it.
"I.... Of course I'll go out with you. I wouldn't dream of going out with anyone else."
Tumblr media
Tenma Tsukasa:
"How could you..... Why would you....!"
I sigh for the third time as my eyes scan the script in my hand once more, frustrated with how this is turning out.
"No, that's not it! It needs to be more emotional!"
I talk to myself, frustrated at myself. I call myself an actor yet I can't even-
My thoughts are quickly interrupted by the sound of a notification pinging on my phone. I sigh and check it, not exactly wanting to be bothered right now.
That attitude quickly runs away when I see that it's a message from Y/N.
Y/N:
'Tsukasa? Hi. It's Y/N. Oh wait you probably already know that- anyway I was hoping maybe if you want to its fine if you dont but do you wanna come over to my house? Just to study of course. Okay bye'
I feel myself calm down and my body loosen up just from the thought of seeing Y/N.
I quickly send a message back to her before leaving the house and walking towards her neighborhood, forgetting all about the script I was supposed to be reading.
Minutes later, I reach the L/N househould and ring on the doorbell.
My smile brightens once I see Y/N answer the door only seconds later, her beautiful eyes gazing into mine.
"Y/N! Good afternoon, friend! This future star is here to study with you, as requested! May I come in?"
I place my hands on my hips as I greet the girl loudly but warmly.
"Huh? Oh, yeah of course, come in."
....
"Oh right! I should probably get out of the way."
And with that, she steps aside, allowing me to enter the cozy atmosphere of the house.
"Your house is very pleasant and cozy."
I comment as she leads me into the living room and to a wooden table placed right under the light bulb in the living room.
"Uh, thanks."
I notice her tone is quite nervous, but I don't question it.
The study session soon takes place, and though some of the subjects may be confusing and hard to wrap my head around, I find my worries and stress slowly releasing their grip on me the more I spend time with Y/N.
All goes well in this session of studying, when Y/N suddenly stops talking.
Confused, I raise my head from the notebook and look at her, waiting for her to continue explaining what she was explaining.
"Hey Y/N, are you okay? Why'd you stop-"
"I like you."
....
...
"HUH?!"
I shout loudly, not expecting those words to ring through my ears.
"WH-WHERE DID THAT COME FROM?!"
I shout again, before she almost cuts me off.
"Do you... Want to go out with me?"
Her question leaves me frozen, and it takes a good five seconds for me to process what's happening.
"You want to go out with me?! Why would you just randomly-"
"Just answer the question please."
...
"Y/N, of course I want to go out with you! I've liked you since we first met!"
Tumblr media
Aoyagi Toya:
I close the door behind me, unintentionally slamming it lightly, a sigh escalating from my mouth.
I find myself wandering around the neighborhood, trying to think of anything but my big argument with my dad, when I hear my phone ding.
After lifting my phone out of my pocket, I read that it's a message from Y/N.
Y/N:
'Toya, hi hey whats up? If its not a bother, do you want to come over at my place? Just to study of course haha nothing else. Oh by the way its Y/N. Actually you probably already new that'
I reply back quickly, happy to have a destination in mind instead of just wandering.
Shortly after our brief texting, I arrive at the house where Y/N lives, before ringing the doorbell and waiting patiently.
Click click click
The door opens quickly, stealing my attention from the nicely decorated house to the very pretty girl in front of me.
"Ah, good afternoon, Y/N. Is it okay if I come in?"
I speak calmly and politely, a small smile gracing my face.
"Mhm. Of course you can come in, we aren't gonna study outside, are we? Haha..."
As she steps aside, her words form an awkward atmosphere, though I try my best to navigate around it.
"No, I suppose not."
After I step into the small house, she leads me to a table where there are various school supplies atop it.
We soon start the session, and I couldn't be more satisfied with how it's going. I may even forget the fight with my dad for a while....
I listen intently to her words of explanation, when she suddenly stops speaking in the middle of her sentence.
I stay silent for a few seconds, before addressing the situation.
"Y/N? Is something wrong?-"
"I like you."
I blink a couple times, dumbfounded and confused.
".... Hm?-"
"Do you... Want to go out with me?"
"You..... I.... I would love to go out with you, Y/N."
Tumblr media
Shinonome Akito:
My fists balled tightly, I storm back into my room, a long scowl stretched across my face.
Ugh...... Why can't he understand? Is it that hard to be a decent father? I hate this so much.... I hate arguing with him....
I run a hand through my hair as my head drifts up to the ceiling, plopping down flat on my bed.
My mind starts to wander off, before hearing a notification sound from my phone.
I aggressively grab my phone from my table, before calming down slightly once I see it was a message from Y/N.
Y/N:
'Akito hi. Do you wanna like idk maybe if you want its fine if you dont but do you wanna come over? to my house i mean. Just to study nothing more of course yeah okay bye'
I sit up in my bed, replying to the message before heading out the door. At least there's a chance of my day being better if I get to see Y/N.
After stepping on her doorstep, I ring the bell, taking this opportunity to look at her house.
I soon hear the door open, my eyes shifting towards Y/N and her gorgeous face.
"Hey, Y/N. Mind if I come in?"
I greet the said girl with a small smile.
"Yes."
...
"I mean no! No! I don't mind."
I let out a small awkward chuckle at her nervousness and feel the need to tease. I won't though.
As she leads me to the table she prepared for us, I take a look around her cozy house.
Soon enough, the study session begins, and the sound of her laughs ringing through my ears puts a smile on my face. Maybe, just maybe, I can forget about stress and my worries for today.
As I smile to myself, she suddenly stops talking mid-sentence.
Confused, I form eye contact with her before speaking.
"Oi, why'd you stop-"
"I like you."
I stare at her, frozen in place, before looking away.
"D-Don't joke with me like-"
"Do you... Want to go out with me?"
"H-Huh?!"
I back away from the confusing girl slightly, as if trying to get a better view to see if she's real.
"Answer the question please."
.....
"Um..... Yeah... I want to go out with you, I.... Yeah."

Unless...
Frank Castle x Reader drabble
Tumblr media
Gif by @darlingshane
Summary: She's had enough of him.
Warnings: Canon typical violence, murder, gun play, knife play, injury, blood play (don't do this at home fellas), sadomasochism, honestly a bit of a toxic dynamic, assassin!reader, sub!Frank, Frank being the biggest masochist ever, mentions of masturbation and voyeurism.
A/N: I havent written or posted any work in a long while, but I had the idea for this and I needed to get it out of my system. I'm not gonna edit, just gonna throw this into the world or ill probably never post it. Tagging @saintmurd0ck @castlesnchurches @vandominia @softsapphicsap @chellestrash @chelseasdagger @itwasthereaminuteago
Frank fires before she can, and loses count of how many rounds he put into his target.
He's becoming reckless, that much he knows. With each kill, his anger grows, and he became a little too focused on shredding the man in front of him to keep count of how much ammo was spent.
He watches afterwards, takes in the sight of the blood staining the egyptian carpet in the pristine office. Well, not so pristine anymore.
Once it all feels real, he breathes. Inhales sharply, not realizing he'd been holding his breath. Frank isn't affected by death, at least not this one, but his kill list is getting shorter and he's been having an existential crisis every here and there, avoidant of the fact he'll have to figure out what to do with himself once this quest for revenge is over.
For now, he breathes.
For now, he focuses on dealing with her.
Frank walks towards the floor-to-ceiling windows of the office, looks out to see Y/N on the roof of another building, standing besides a sniper rifle, barrel pointed at him. They stare at each other from a distance until she grabs her gear and turns her back.
Frank has some explaining to do, so the dead body is left to rot.
He finds her on the roof of his safehouse. Y/N stands perfectly still in the shadows, still enough to fool him into thinking that maybe, just maybe, she won't be too mad.
"That was my contract." Her voice is cold and professional, the first winds of a tempest.
"I know." Frank's response is as professional as it is stupid. And it just feeds into Y/N's frustration.
"It was ten million dollars, Castle."
"Yeah. And?"
"IT WAS MY FUCKING MONEY, FRANK!"
He should be concerned, should care about how she fucking roared at him loud enough for Murdock to hear. But honestly? Frank can't bring himself to give a fuck.
"You'll survive." He brushes off. Y/N can feel her frustration turn into rage, but she still tries to keep calm and make a point.
"And my fucking reputation?! Don't you think word will get out that the Punisher stole my kill right in front of me like it was nothing?" She tries, but Frank just breathes out a chuckle and crosses his arm, deciding he wants to be funny.
"So? Listen, if you're thinking you can outmatch me and you want everyone in your business to think the same, that's a you problem, and you're damn straight delusional-"
Next thing Frank feels is a bullet in his thigh.
He falls to one knee with a pained cry, draws his firearm at light speed, and pulls the trigger. But no fire comes out.
"You should've counted your bullets, Castle. I did." Y/N shakes her head in mock disappointment and stalks towards him, gun pointed at his head. And now it's his turn to get fucking furious.
"The fuck is wrong with you!? You gonna kill me over a hit?"
"You know better than to get in between me and a contract." She spits harshly, gun under his chin before she orders. "Get that other knee of yours on the ground before I blow it out."
Frank obeys, tries his best to ignore the pain on his thigh, and how it gets worse with pressure and weight onto it.
"Thaaat's it, baby." Y/N praises before her tone turns condescending. "You look so pretty in that position, you know that?"
Frank heaves, vibrating with anger. For a second, he tries reaching for the blade on his side, but Y/N raises her gun to his forehead.
"Keep moving and I'll unload the entire mag in you, and I know exactly how many bullets I've got left."
Frank let's out a shaky breath, knowing he fucked up but too stubborn to fully admit it to himself. Y/N looks at him for a long couple of seconds, and she can see him making mental calculations, trying to figure out how he's supposed to get out of this.
"What? You don't trust me, sweetie?"
He doesn't bother with an answer, and they keep up the unbreakable eye contact before Y/N speaks up again.
"You know Castle, I was 15 when my mother got me private medical lessons." She starts and, despite the pulsing pain, Frank is curious as to where in the fuck this conversion is going. Y/N rarely ever mentions any detail of herself, so suddenly he's very interested in whatever she has to say. "I already knew how to patch myself up so I was confused as to why she would hire a whole team of doctors to give me in depth lessons of the human body. I just didn't know how it would be... useful... for the family business." Y/N reminisces, before asking "Have I told you doctors make the best torturers?"
Both of them know the answer to that question, and Frank knows that underneath this ramble, Y/N is trying to control her emotions, so he indulges her with an answer.
"No. You haven't told me that."
"I should've figured it out sooner, but I only really found out when she brought me on a mission to extract intel. She made it clear: greatest amount of pain while keeping the target alive for the longest time possible." Y/N finishes with a deep breath before shaking her head slightly as if trying to shake away memories. She then caresses the scar on his cheek with her thumb, taking the time to look at him before hushing softly. "I could never hurt you, Frankie. Not in a way that matters."
That's when Frank understands what she's trying to say. That while she has an inhumanly accurate aim, the bullet she shot didn't go low enough on his thigh to damage his knee or high enough to hit his artery.
She hurt him, but she didn't incapacitate him.
She wouldn't kill him.
"Unless..." Y/N sings as she clicks off the safety on the gun and wraps her hand around his throat. "Unless the big bad punisher lets his ego get out of control again and thinks he can steal another one of my contracts. Is that going to happen, Castle?"
He sneers at her, anger clouding his vision again and making Frank reluctant to answer. But she knows he'll talk, and he'll talk real nice.
"...no." He mumbles. Y/N's not satisfied though, so she presses the gun hard against his temple, raising her voice to that soldier-like tone Frank used to hear in the marines.
"No what ?!"
"I won't get in your way. I won't-" He rasps, finally yielding before crumbling at the fury in her eyes. "I- I'm... m'sorry."
And that simple word makes her open the widest of grins, expression turning euphoric and leaning on unhinged, like it's what she needed all along. Frank knows how much she loves his apologies, even if she doesn't accept them.
Y/N doesn't hesitate to press a harsh kiss onto his split lip. Frank knows she can hear the whine he tries to suppress, that she can taste the blood on his tongue. She leaves him breathless, only parting to bring her lips close by his ear.
"I saw it." She whispers. "That night after I opened up your pretty cheek. I saw you."
Frank's eyes widen, and with a shudder, every bit of residual anger leaves his body.
Frank remembers when they met up a couple of months ago, remembers how pent up he was after their fight, remembers being hard while he stitched the cut on his cheek, and how he came in the shower afterwards, pleading her name and thinking of all the other ways she could hurt him.
And she saw.
He doesn't know how but she saw him.
"How about I leave you with a warning and a gift, huh?" Y/N proposes sweetly, pulling out the knife from Frank's side.
Later on, he'll pretend like he didn't nod so eagerly.
Y/N uses the knife to slice open the unscarred cheek. She takes in Frank's reaction, from his gorgeous whimper to the way his eyes are blown, and then focuses on how beautiful he is when he's bleeding.
Before Frank can register, her tongue is on his face, licking from his jaw up to the cut on his cheek, lapping up the blood before she comments with a smile.
"Now they match."
