Please tell us about the ao3 womb curse? That sounds intriguing and vaguely terrifying...

I want to preface this by saying that this was years ago now and I bear no ill will towards the person anymore, they were clearly not in a great place at the time and at this point my friends and I just laugh about it

So in the summer of 2021 I was the target of harassment on Twitter for writing the wrong kind of fanfiction. Some people got really, really nasty about it and didn't like that I stood up for myself, so they said all sorts of horrid things about me and tried to paint me as some sort of monster. I'm not going to lie: it sucked. I knew they were lying and scrambling to save face and everyone who knew me stood by me, but it was still a really awful couple of weeks for me and kind of destroyed my enjoyment of fandom.

THAT SAID.

A couple of weeks after the main meltdown had happened, I got a really weird anonymous comment on one of my fics on Ao3. I'd only just made my Ao3 public again after that whole debacle (because I didn't like the idea of people combing through my profile to find all my "crimes"), and this comment was like, several lines in something I could only identify as an Eastern European language, and I thought it was a weird new spam thing until a couple of my friends said they got something similar on their recent fics for the same pairing. Google Translate said it was either Serbian or Croatian and all of them translated roughly to "may your womb be barren, you foul hag" (paraphrasing, but only a bit).

And then someone pointed out that one of the people who had been very vocal about how terrible I was on Twitter was from that general region, and when we went looking through their online presence a bit it turned out they had actually posted something along the lines of "I can't believe this $&§@ is still around, I'm going to curse her" like an hour before the comments appeared on Ao3. Totally chill behaviour.

So since that day we have an inside joke about womb curses.

I understand the choice to change the original use of the word “fag” to “drudge,” for obvious slur reasons. But, by doing that, you’re ensuring that viewers won’t know that fagging was an actual practice that’s been around for centuries in Great Britain.

It clearly wasn’t a humane or ethical system, and it’s deeply frowned upon in present day. But it was a huge part of British public/boarding school culture, and “fag” and “fagging” were the words exclusively used for this practice.

There’s even a possibility that the modern gay slur “faggot” was derived from this practice, since fagging frequently involved physical and sexual abuse between students. However, tellingly, fagging became less popular in some schools when homosexuality was more actively criminalized.

All that is to say that—though I get the reasoning—you’re still erasing a plot-relevant part of history by glossing over this very bad, very true thing that existed in England (and in some English colonies!) up through the 20th century. The truth is ugly, but it’s better context for the story you’re telling, and quite honestly makes Ciel’s situation at Weston make a lot more sense.

okay soooo of course I have to shout out @inkwingsinc's fic, bit my gun with my black-gold gums (which, if you haven't read yet, just call off work now because you WILL LOSE SLEEP reading this divine fic!!!). it is genuinely one of the best writing i've ever read, and the plot/characters/story are so unique and carefully thought through. it's like, god-tier. ink is a treasure, and we are blessed to have this absolute GIFT !

the first feyd x reader fic I read was @peggyao3's fic, preyd, which i still go back and re-read because it just hits. Every. Time. Peggy also has so many more Feyd fics that leave me drooling, and I force myself not to read them all because I *will* devour them all too quickly.

@luminnara also has a great collection of feyd fics, including my personal fave, gladiator!

i also really really enjoyed @sansaorgana's thrown to the wolves fic!!!

if you want something else in the dune-universe, i HIGHLY recommend fleshed in the wife by @thefudge. it's paul x irulan and is INCREDIBLE.

(idk if all of them will be the level of "fucked up" you're hoping, but considering they are all feyd fics, well.... they're all naturally a tad fucked up. i just know that there are a lot of fics out there that I've enjoyed that I'm blanking on. if I've comment on their fic, chances are I enjoyed it and I just have terrible memory.)

tbh i really try not to read a whole lot of feyd fics, especially right now, because i don't want to worm its way into my own ideas/writing, so those are the main ones I've enjoyed!!!

also, if you want fic recs outside of that, trust that I read a lot of...ahem. Weird shit? basically anything in my bookmarks on AO3 are what I consider to be the crème de la crème, particularly this venom x reader fic collection by @snarky-badger or this pennywise x reader fic (yes, really.) i re-read both at least once a year. (currently, i mostly read trad/indie books more than fic, so if you or anyone else wants any recs, let me know that too!)

The White House has created a website to amplify favorable news articles about President Donald Trump, prompting critics to accuse the administration of running a taxpayer-funded “propaganda” outlet. “Your propaganda straight from the tap!” one person cracked on X.

The White House Wire, or WHWIRE, mostly features stories from conservative outlets such as Fox News and the Daily Caller ― and all are complimentary takes on the president and the administration. Government staffers also contributed reports. One headline that appeared early Thursday, “100 Days Of Hoaxes: Cutting Through The Fake News,” didn’t link directly to a story. “It’s a place for supporters of the president’s agenda to get the real news all in one place in a shareable and readable format,” a White House official told Axios. “The website will be a one-stop shop for news and is part of the Trump administration’s effort to provide transparency and institute policies that put America first.” The development comes amid a report that MAGA influencers now attend press briefings exclusively for them at the White House.

The Drudge-esque White House Wire (WHWire) launched on The White House’s website, spitting out pro-Trump propaganda on the taxpayer’s dime.
