Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) all but admitted this week that he doesn’t care about enacting policy if the GOP wins control of the House in the November election.

Instead, the Donald Trump-adoring Florida Republican said control of the chamber should be primarily used to settle scores with Democrats.

Gaetz, appearing on Steve Bannon’s “War Room” podcast, called on Republicans to “open up every vector of attack” on Democrats as he echoed GOP calls for the impeachment of President Joe Biden and senior members of his administration for unspecified reasons.

The Republican mandate in this year’s midterm elections is “not to go hold hands in the warm spring rain with the Democrats, it is to investigate them, hold them accountable and we can do that without the Senate, without the White House,” Gaetz continued.

“And that’s why it should be investigations first (and) policy, bill-making to support the lobbyists and the PACs as a far, far diminished priority,” added Gaetz, who reportedly remains under investigation in a sex trafficking probe. He denies any wrongdoing.

Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene has deleted the first episode of her new podcast, in which she referred to trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney as “one of the biggest paedophiles in America today”. The MTG: Battleground podcast episode was posted online on Tuesday (18 April) but it had been removed two days later. As at the time of writing, Taylor Greene’s Rumble account, where the show is hosted, only shows episode two and its trailer, alongside other older content, most of which was posted more than a month ago. Clips of the deleted episode were shared online by research account PatriotTakes, showing the far-right House representative calling Mulvaney “one of the biggest paedophiles in America today”. She also actively misgenders Mulvaney, saying: “I won’t be referring to him as a she or her.” In another clip, which includes a clip of a video of Mulvaney’s partnership with beer brand Bud Light, Marjorie Taylor Greene continues the verbal attacks on the TikTok star. “This is Dylan Mulvaney, he’s an actor. And he has a very specific role that he is playing - and it’s the grooming and sexualisation of children.” Mulvaney has not responded to the incident, having been silent on social media since early April, following a wave of anti-trans hate following her Bud Light and Nike sponsorships. Her partnership with Bud Light has become a big deal in the US. The beer brand partnered with her for a March Madness competition, where the brand also gave her a can with her own face on it. However, right-wing and anti-trans snowflakes took the influencer partnership personally, and have taken to attempting to boycott the brand and destroying its products - such as Kid Rock shooting multiple boxes of the product. The ordeal resulted in Bud Light’s marketing vice president taking a leave of absence, and even made its way to the White House, where press secretary Karine Jean Pierre commented: “When a transgender American posts a video about a brand of beer they enjoy and it leads to bomb threats, it’s clear that the level of violence and vitriol against transgender Americans has to stop.”

Man parades rainbow-painted donkey through GOP campaign rally in bizarre attack on trans people

A supporter of the Republican nominee for North Carolina governor painted a donkey rainbow colors and paraded it in front of a rally in an elaborate – yet bizarre – attack on transgender people. At an event for North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson’s (R) gubernatorial campaign, someone painted a donkey rainbow colors, put a unicorn horn on it, and brought it in front of Robinson as he gave a speech. The crowd laughed. Robinson ranted about the gender unicorn in his 2021 speech at the state’s Republican convention, saying that he had just seen it online for the first time. In March 2023, Robinson declared that God created him to battle against LGBTQ+ rights and added, “Makes me sick every time I see it — a church that flies that rainbow flag, which is a direct spit in the face of God almighty.” In 2017, he wrote on Facebook, “You CAN NOT love God and support the homosexual agenda.” In 2021, Robinson compared LGBTQ+ people to cow dung and claimed straight people are superior to gay people due to their ability to procreate. In the same sermon, he declared there are only two genders and disparaged trans people’s bodies: “I don’t care how much you cut yourself up, drug yourself up and dress yourself up, you still either one of two things — you either a man or a woman.” He also said people who support events like Drag Queen Story Hour do so because they desire to molest children. He has previously proclaimed that being gay is a step before pedophilia, that former First Lady Michelle Obama is secretly a trans woman, and that trans-affirming people are “devil-worshipping child molesters.” He also condemned gay people as an “abominable sin” in response to the 2016 Pulse massacre. Robinson created an education task force to investigate and remove LGBTQ+ literature from public schools, as well as report instances of LGBTQ+ inclusion in schools. Teachers’ names, employers, and information were released unredacted in the report, yet many of the complaints weren’t verified or even authenticated. Also in 2021, he refused to heed calls for his resignation after he declared that homosexuality and “transgenderism” are “filth.” He has also called the trans equality movement “demonic” and “full of the spirit of Antichrist.” In November of that year, he allegedly wagged his finger in the face of a state lawmaker who made a speech about supporting LGBTQ+ people.
