“Why dont people who are big into fanon just read the comics” i think there’s something to be said about the severity of the batfamily telephone thats occured. Its to the point where people are attached to and in love with characters who dont exist. I think there is a degree of just not wanting to read comics as well as peoples really gross disrespect/disregard of comics as a medium as well.

But what a lot of what people are looking for flat out doesn’t exist because the version of the batfamily they was is essentially unrecognizable(except maybe in a fun out of universe comic like wfa which bears resemblance). People see parts of comics and it doesnt fit into what they thing the batfamily should be so why engage with the source materal? Why care if its not the content they are looking for?

Mike starting a youtube channel after Revenge and he writes and produces short films and sketches. Of course he'll write specific parts for his friends and it's all very homey and low quality but the quality steadily rising as he get's better!

Maybe he has a patreon, or a kofi?? He probably does fanfic commissions on the side (writing streams?? just lowkey chill vibes that sometimes turns into a completely different stream when one of the others is triggered?)

Manitoba definitely streams. Goes on a big hours long hike or nature walk and just rambles at the camera about the plants and wild life. It's actually really educational and his voice is pretty soothing.

Svetlana on tiktok with her gymnastic stunts, occasionally does a speedpainting one where it's just a sped up edited version of her doing one of her paintings, very low effort but she likes showing off.

Vito doesn't at all, he becomes notorious for party crashing and overall just vibes, sometimes someone will post a low quality video from their phone from one of his comedy shows, he performs at local bars and encourages hecklers cause he'll heckle back.

Mal doesn't do anything very publicly, but I think he'd like to make and sell horror movie masks, and get into writing or producing horror content / doing the makeup for it. He gets into cooking and baking just cause he likes watching food network. If he cooks for you it's a sign of affection and it's not poisoned, he'd see that as too easy.

Chester doesn't have time for any of that. He just likes to read his books and the only time anyone get's him on camera is if he get's triggered by one of the others and suddenly it's story time with peepaw. He'll tell you the plot of his latest book or drama he's watching.

Artists and fans! I'm doing a study!

I'm currently writing my bachelor thesis about fan art and fandom, exploring this art form's role as contemporary art and its impact on fandom members!

I have the fandom of FFXIV as a starting point and area of reference, but the study will regard fandom and fan art in general. If you are interested, the study is anonymous and you can read more information as well as answer a few questions in these forms the coming week:

i hate how similar of a situation pax and a resist!durge is in. how much it reminds him of himself. how those edges start to blur. above all, pax is always driven by his desire to protect, help & care for others. to give. it’s a steadfast kindness difficult to warp and corrupt. maybe there’s a selfishness to it. anger. grief. nobody was there to save him, nobody came when he was whimpering and screaming out as bal’s blood seized him. how his gods answered his cries with a sorrowful silence. i think he begins to see them as him. not fully or consciously aware of. there’s a heavy feeling of empathy and sympathy. somewhat deeper than what he usually feels. an overwhelming need to protect them. to, as hopeless as it seems, be the unwavering bulwark that stands between them and bh..aal. it’s the contradiction between seeing his own situation as hopeless vs being as hopeful as possible in them escaping theirs. though, regardless, he continues on in spite of.

//y’know... that episode rewatch was quite worthy if I dare say it myself because I noticed a thing. I may be biased but the fact they (the characters and the fandom as well) were protecting Blades saying High Tide was wrong for putting too much pressure on him from the start and then scolding when he left the ship just... feels wrong to me.

I mean sure, High Tide didn’t have to call him a waste of energon and all but Blades was in the wrong for leaving the training session without warning. You might say ‘oh but there was an emergency and Blades had to do the deed’ and yeah there was indeed an emergency but... the Burns still had their old vehicles around. Dani could’ve used her old copter for that, and I’m pretty sure the family understands that the bots are busy so there is no way she or any other person called Blades for assistance in the rescue, thus, he was called out for disobeying direct orders to stay.

Of course High Tide would’ve allowed the bots to leave for a rescue call if it was deemed extremely necessary and they warned him directly before hoping off but... that wasn’t what Blades did. He just left without a heads up and of course High Tide got mad because I’m pretty sure he had to deal with bots like him back in Cybertron that were perhaps even worse than Blades. Not even Heatwave stepped in to protect Blades while he was being scolded, he only did so because Cody intervened (something that he shouldn’t have done as High Tide mentioned)!

And for the pressure I mentioned earlier, High Tide was testing how fast Blades can go while under stress because sea incidents sure can escalate and FAST if you go too slow! Many things can happen while there’s a victim fighting to keep themselves above water and if you go way too slow, it’s over! Especially during severe weather conditions! And HT knew it and wanted to train Blades for quick sea-to-air assistance because he was the only one who could fly! Cody mentioned that encouraging Blades would be better but... Buddy you’re talking to an old timer and ain’t nobody got time to encourage anyone during a tense situation with a precious life at risk.

All and all... there was no reason to call High Tide out for scolding due to disobedience. As I said, sure, he didn’t have to call Blades a waste of energon but cut him some slack, he was clearly angry for this! And I’m pretty sure he might’ve lost lots of recruits and friends/soldiers in the war for the lack of fast thinking.

I am alive on Mako once more. I've been persona'd out in all honesty and have been more absorbed and enjoying writing on my other blogs. i think i've said this before but whatever, i'm saying it again! i miss the old era of, like, follow forever posts and stuff. i just think that was just a neat little moment in tumblr rpc history. just a bunch of ppl taking time out of their days to make lists of ppl they thought were neat or cool, even if they hadn't written together or spoken or whatever. a real nice sense of community, i think. like, it was just a very small thing but being tagged always felt nice :)
