we get a lot of really great stuff in system collapse about murderbot's relationships with ART and ratthi, which makes sense, because it spends almost the entire book with them. but i also love how even though mensah isn't there for most of the story, other people keep reminding mb of her:
chapter 2, page 25: “From ART’s personnel file, she [Karime] was older than Mensah and she didn’t look like an intrepid space explorer, either, even in the protective environmental suit.”
2, 27: “It took Karime three seconds to process the abrupt statement. (She was almost as good at not looking annoyed as Mensah was.) She kept her expression neutral and patient.”
2, 28: “In the underground colony room, Karime lifted her brows. ‘Another occupied site?’ I thought she was being careful not to show too much reaction. It was the way Mensah would have played it.”
4, 70: “Iris looked at me and I saw her hesitate, because her hesitation looked a lot like Dr. Mensah’s hesitation. And I realized I really didn’t want to go down there.”
5, 104: "Iris has that same thing as Dr. Mensah, the thing where she’s able to look and sound calm under circumstances where shit is possibly about to go down.”
it's spent so much time with her and it knows her so well and respects her so much that she's the model against which it compares all other humans. it thinks about her when they're not together. it's protective of her. it has such total faith in her competence. it (non-romantically) loves her and doesn't want to not see her again. idk man, it just gets to me! and they were teammates (oh my god they were teammates!!)
bonus:
I said, aloud, "You have to be kidding me." (ch. 2, p. 28)
seven pages later, in reaction to the same thing:
Mensah had had time to review the feed video. She muttered, "Oh, you have to be kidding me."
Yeah.
twinsies 🥰

Anyway, thinking about a new Queen Alicia Acorn concept (Sally & Elias' mom). She's not dead or missing in this world, she's very much alive and thriving, world is hers.

Am inexplicably and unreasonably upset about Jamie not liking scones. Like, obviously he can like whatever he likes and there's no accounting for taste and what does it even matter but also what the hell is wrong with you, my ridiculous muppet man? What else don't you like, huh - is it kittens and puppies? World peace? Fucking joy?
For my own peace of mind I'll be imagining him just saying that because he doesn't want anything from Roy at this particular point in time. Or maybe Simon's scones are JUST TOO GOOD, nothing else can compare, so Jamie just avoids all other scones as to avoid disappointment. Either work and make hell of a lot more sense that Jamie "not even liking" scones. I mean, come on.

I have a question what were Annie's og parents like(i mean she was willing to run away with five aliens to be her fathers instead so I don't think they might have been the best😬) or maybe they're dead and were good people idk
A lot of the lore is actually written by @sweetpeaches666, who may be tagged under sugarbutterfly432, thanks to Annie technically being a 3 way OC lmao. There has been nothing solidly concrete about Annie's OG parents beyond the fact that she doesn't know her ancestry and she's had many foster homes AND orphanages to live in (plus it'd also be easier legal wise for the Andromeda 5 to adopt her if she isn't officially someone else's kid at the time)
It's actually why she does ballet, one of her foster mothers wanted to recreate her failed dream, turns out it breeds resentment and a lot of running away :P
What can be said is that Annie's been many different homes and in a constant state of transitioning between them, a prime example of being a refunded kid and all that, something something No Roots by Alice Merton yada yada 'oh no that's relatable'. Her birth parents one way or another have never been in her life, though regardless of what actually happened Annie will always believe that they left her behind like like everyone else did :P

I originally thought Circe wouldn't be able to cook but I feel as she had to mainly rely on herself, she began to learn and actually began enjoying it.
In conclusion, let her cook for your muse. Or maybe they can even cook together 👉👈 She'll hold the poison this time... unless?

Just saw a Brazilian YouTuber coping a shorts, like, almost word-by-word from Colleen Christensen. I've seen enough of Colleen's shorts to recognize the style right away, but as I kept watching I realized she had straight up just translated and recreated one of her entire shorts, beginning to end.
Aaannnddd then I got served another of the copycat's videos, and it was some nonsense about how she didn't feel like "downing 400 calories for a slice of cake right now".
Oh yes. Calorie counting. A staple of intuitive eating everywhere.
