Hello!! A brief(ish) recap before the actual list. It’s been a pretty wild year in wingsland, mostly thanks to finishing up my second master’s degree in December (finally, BYE!). Looking back, I’m surprised at how much content I actually created, but this has been a refuge and source of comfort for me while running on fumes between work and school and general adulting. 2023 also marked some changes in my listening and sources of inspiration. I fell more out of interest with txt (apologies to all followers who were here for them… this is the second time this has happened, oops?) but fell even more in love with Monsta X while discovering some other new or new-to-me artists (more on that in another post). Reason was my first official comeback with them, and it really lit a fire in my brain. I have a few ongoing series that I intend to continue, whether they’re gifs or audio compilations. I giffed a LOT of besties (minhyuk + hyungwon, the soulmates of soulmate besties). It brings me so so much joy to work on those sets and the various audio edits or just being excited about musical details in my music box tag. I also managed to squeeze in a few angsty mv sets along the way, because tbh I feel like I am thriving most as a creator when something is pulling at the heartstrings. I know mbbblr has been quiet lately (and must seem exceedingly so to those who were around years ago), but I will keep being noisy about them until mx6 is reunited and beyond. you have a motto that you live by and that is: if it can kill me, i’ll kill it first. well, that used to work if you’re going to... y’know, hunt a bear or fishing or something related to survival. no one quite prepared you for how it would be working under a big corporation; much less hybe corporation.

were you a slave to the corporate world? not really... but you weren’t the type to succumb to just anything... but this job was important to you and you know it. it pays well, it teaches you new skills, it allows you to transfer to different departments to get a change in perspective, so in all, it’s a pretty good job. sometimes, the job gets to you a bit too much that you focus on it to the point your tunnel vision zones in, and you can’t quite notice...

[🦊] yeonjun yeonjun’s leaning on the partition in front of your cubicle with a smile just as you lift your head up to see him standing there. it surprises you to lean back in your chair, hand to your chest with a: “oh goodness, yeonjun!”

he grins as he straightens his back, revealing the rest of his height with his hands in his pockets, “did i scare ya?”

“gee, i wonder...”

“let me make it up to you, then?” he wiggles his brows, and you scoff, leaning forward as you squint his eyes; he can already hear your voice without you saying anything: what do you have in mind, choi yeonjun?

“let’s go for a snack. tteokbokki?”

you don’t respond immediately, just staring at him with a narrowed gaze that it makes him start to–”ah, c’mon! let’s gooo! i’m hungry!”

your eyes widen at his outburst–sure, no one’s around and you’re the only one left, but you don’t quite appreciate possibly attracting attention–but he doesn’t have any problem with making sure he wakes up the whole world. panic fills your system and you stand up, lunging towards him to put your hand over his mouth, “keep it down! you’re gonna get everyone’s attention!”

you can feel his smile against your palm as he peels your hand off, his tone cheeky as he responds: “then maybe you should’ve given me your attention in the first place.”

he pretends to flinch when you threaten to swing your elbow at him, and you let go of him with a deep sigh. he uses his head to point to where the two of you would head out from. with a sigh, you nod and try to clean up your desk a little before he’s tugging you by the arm so you can follow him out, claiming you’re going to use your desk again tomorrow, no need to bother with cleaning it up.

the tteokbokki place isn’t too far from where you two were, and it’s secluded enough that not many would question yeonjun’s... you know, the fact that yeonjun is actually yeonjun from txt.

taking a seat in a secluded corner, under the dim light of a poorly lit tent as it’s a sidewalk, truck-operated business, yeonjun’s able to see that you’re tired. when you notice him staring, you can see how practice is wearing him out, too. so the two of you spend that time enjoying the silence and company with small talk that comes by occasionally; him asking about what you’re working on and you asking back how practice was for him (even if you two already know the in-and-outs considering you two text fairly often). 

when the tteokbokki’s disappears from the bowls and into your tummies, it was time to head back. he insists on walking you back, which you’ve tried rejecting a couple of times only to know that it never quite end up the way you thought it would. luckily, you didn’t stay too far from his dorm. (plus, he just wanted to spend more time with you)

the walk isn’t as long as yeonjun would’ve liked, especially since he enjoys talking to you freely; it’s as if he could... be whoever he truly was. no pressure from the limelight, no pressure to perform, and no judgement whenever he spoke to you about whatever... and with what he had in mind, he’s getting more nervous at the thought of what he’s about to do.

as you stand by the lobby entrance to your apartment, you pat his shoulder and thank him for walking you back, and ask for him to text you when he’s reached home safely. you notice he’s quieter than usual but you don’t press on it. the ups and downs of an idol can be overwhelming and if he doesn’t sound okay later, you’d probably ask him then. with a small wave, you turn around and start to make your way towards the door, only to have your name called out by none other than...

you look over your shoulder and see him holding his hand out, to which you approach it and hold your hand out to retrieve... a folded piece of paper.

confused, you take it in your hands and peek up to him, watching him watching you–expectant, scared, mostly nervous and trying not to break down. you unfold the paper without a question and you try not to get overly excited on something that may... may be playing with your emotions.

i like you, y/n. go on a date with me? :)

yeonjun looks at you, using the top part of his lip to bite down on his lower half in anxiety. he rocks on the balls of his feet, patiently waiting for you to answer but you can tell your hesitance is eating him alive.

“this... this isn’t a prank, is it?”

clearly, you’ve caught him off-guard. his eyes widen and he nearly falls back in shock, because–”w-what?! no! of course not! i...” he gains composure, hands behind his back as he finds his ground and lowers his head to admit softly: “i mean it...”

you don’t know how fast you answer, but you do know you do it for two reasons. one, he’s got to go back home and it was getting late. two, you’re about to combust the longer you stay out here like this.

“yes.”

yeonjun sighs, looking up with a look you can’t quite put your tongue on. was it sadness? he looks like he’s about to say something, but then his face morphs into one of confusion when he–”did you say yes?”

“yeah,” you grin, looking down at the paper, “i’ll go a date with you.”

you have officially short-circuited him.

“oh–oh god, that’s–i’ll text you? call you? text before i call? or i–”in the midst of yeonjun’s rambling, you quickly lean forward to press your lips to his cheek, and scramble your way into your lobby of your apartment. 

“whichever is fine! as long as i hear from you!” you holler, and soon you’re heading in to wave at him before going into the lift. yeonjun’s a mess as he stands there, hand to his cheek, gaping at where you’ve disappeared off to. he takes a moment, moments before he actually starts walking back home. initially with small steps, but slowly he starts to build up his pace to start running in joy, all the way back to his dorm, all with a big smile on his face that would last for many, many days ahead of him.

I felt like I was making some good progress, I did kinda feel grown up and 27, but I'm heading towards 28 as directionless and worried as I was facing 18,,,but being 18 feels a long looooong time ago even if 2014 doesnt feel that far in the past.

Last January I went on a little solo 1 night 2 day trip, I ended up buying a photocard of nct jungwoo from a kpop market stall and googling tomorrow x togeter……and……basically I finally relented, 2023 is forever defined by my kpop boygroup era. Now I have over 100 photocards oops, I've seen NCT Dream, WayV, and almost saw TxT live in concert. It's actually been really really nice to allow myself to have an interest in something, especially being able to re-enjoy music, I got really frustrated by music, and I'm glad to be able to have fun with the thousands of releases and checking every HMV for their kpop selection.

I ended up stopping my weekly therapy sessions in October because of my job change and I do miss it, I actually had a dream about my therapist telling me it was time to come back to her. On one hand I feel like I don't need it…but I'm struggling a lot with body and food that I'm scared I'll hold myself back from progress if left by myself. I just want to be content and find happiness. I hope I get there, even if it isn't in 2024.

if i could spend a day with jungkook, i'd love to go out on a nice stroll around the city to window shop and head to different restaurants to eat (preferably for late lunch and dinner since i am NOT a morning person & hardly eat breakfast), then head home to have a cozy night in and play video games with him for the remainder of the night! i really want to play fortnite with him (no builds on fortnite is fun, i swear, and they have 2 dynamite emotes that i DID buy, ok pls don't judge jsjjsknj) 😭 i know he'd be amazing at it. like, c'mon kook, be my duo partner so you can carry me in each game!! lol also would LOVE to see him play dead by daylight to see how he'd do haha

if i could spend a day with taehyung, i'd want to have a spa day, whether at home or at an actual spa, where we both can relax! if we do a spa day at home, i'd love to pamper him and brush/play with his hair. maybe do a manicure for him if he wants and some face masks. we'd def watch some dramas/movies while waiting for takeout to arrive. i'm an introvert that loves spending time at home rather than outside tbh. i think taehyung would enjoy doing something like this with me too! i can def picture him putting on his favorite songs while dancing around with a facemask on and hair tied back lol

as for other dynamics in the group, i am very fond of yoonmin! i've loved their dynamic since day 1. (they were actually the first dynamic i grew to love a week into bts' debut!!) their little grandma/grandpa fights make me laugh/look at them fondly. they overall remind me of an old couple that bickers just to bicker lol not to mention, yoongi has stated multiple times how jimin's voice is his favorite! (yet we STILL DON'T HAVE THE MINIMINI SUBUNIT?!?! we are deprived!!!) the way jimin teases yoongi sometimes makes me giggle way too much. i think it's super cute, i adore them so much!

minimoni. they are SUPER CUTE!!!! their moments make my insides all warm sdjjskj jihope! i feel like this is kind of self-explanatory. jimin followed hobi to lollapalooza, and they were in paris tgt recently! they're extremely supportive of each other in general. i love them :( namjin bc they've been married for 2838209 years. vminkook, my beloved maknaes 🫶 they're all attached to the hip and love/care for one another deeply. they're MY BABIES FR!!!!!

note: i adore every dynamic in bts overall!!! the way each member loves one another makes me believe i'll never find another group that loves each other the way they do.
