008. ⸻ Please be aware that my portrayal of MK1!Bi-Han is not 100% canon-accurate. While I tried to make as little changes to the character's personality and backstory as possible, some aspects of him will be based on my own headcanons. The writing for him in MK1 is annoyingly inconsistent, contradicts itself on multiple occasions and sometimes even makes no sense at all, so I won't be adopting much of it into my portrayal. Do not expect me to write Bi-Han as a one-dimensional joke villain just because ❛ it's canon ❜ in the current timeline. If that's the portrayal you're looking for, you might want to look for someone else to write with. That said, this blog will feature different versions of Bi-Han from different timelines, so please do specify the timeline you'd prefer for the plot to be set in. For now I only write Bi-Han as Sub-Zero and I haven't decided on whether or not Noob Saibot will become a secondary muse on this blog yet, but it's well within the realm of possibilities.

009. ⸻ I do not condone hate, homophobia, racism or anything of the sorts and if I see someone partaking in such problematic behavior that will warrant an instant block.

010. ⸻ Personally, I'm not the biggest fan of writing romance plots, I don't have any preferred ships for Bi-Han and I don't see that changing anytime soon. I just don't see Bi-Han as someone who's particularly interested in romance or relationships. Depending on how his character develops in the current timeline, that might change in the future.

Seeing her face brought calmness to her heart, her face was still freezing and her hands shaking from the nightmare she just experienced a few seconds ago, at least Skarlet was by her side, but couldn’t help her fingers from pressing her arms, reassuring herself that she was there with her. “I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry, seriously, I haven’t had one of these in a long while.” There was sweat running down her forehead and cheeks, not tears at least, breathing heavily while doing her best to calm herself down.

Her other hand reaches for the woman’s face, wiping the sweat away from her brow and temples. Her voice is like soft velvet, steady and calm, as she tries to comfort her. She’s lived with nightmares and night terrors her entire life; she would never judge Frost for experiencing the same thing. There is only compassion within her softened features.  ❝ I get them, too. 003 Mileena (cause why not)

003 | Give me a character & I will tell you:

How I feel about this character: Mileena is my third favorite character from the Mortal Kombat universe after Kitana and Tanya (I can’t help it, I love all the edenians). I love how her mixed identity (edenian/tarkatan) makes her to one of the most recognizable female villains not only in the Mortal Kombat universe, but in gaming itself. But being honest, I kind of miss the machavellian Mileena who liked to pose as Kitana to manipulate and deceive the Forces of Light from Deception/Armageddon and who believed herself to be worthy of greater things, even that meant to betray Shao Kahn at some point. MKX kind of fulfills that when NRS places her as a Kahnum of Outworld and Kahn’s natural heiress, but she deserved better in the new era. I miss these old Midway’s days when everyone believed that Mileena was raised as Kitana’s twin instead of being a mere clone conceived in the Flesh Pits who only desires to kill Kitana to replace her. 

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: I was never fond of her canonical relationship with Baraka in MKD/MKAr, but during MK9, I kinda shipped her with Scorpion. Since I headcanon Mileena as a bisexual woman with a strong preference towards women, after MKX, I ship her with Tanya

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: Her rivalry with Kitana, hands down. Mileena can’t be Mileena without Kitana and viceversa.

My unpopular opinion about this character: Is a quite popular belief in fandom that Mileena was a shitty ruler because she was not capable to held her authority towards her subjects unlike Shao Kahn (which I kind of agree), but I believe than the fandom gives Kotal too much credit as a leader even if he was just as shitty like Mileena as a Kahn of Outworld (D’Vorah fooled the shit out of him at her first opportunity). My unpopular opinion in regards of canon (and headcanons too) is that Mileena was an lame leader, but in no way she was not the worst. Kotal was the worst if he allowed himself to be fooled like a child by his prime minister.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:  For once, I think that if there is one thing that Mileena truly lacks, is positive people around her. For that, even if I miss her old days where she hated Kitana with passion just because she wanted to be a Princess of Edenia, it’s time to move on. So I kind of wish that Kitana’s MK9 ending was canon and give Mileena some redemption arc (similar of what happened to Scorpion in MKX/MK11) without stopping her being the badass female she has always been. It’s time also for new rivalries against D’Vorah, for example.

Favorite friendship for this character: At this point, Mileena is not a person who has a lot of allies or friends unlike Kitana, so I’d go with Baraka. After all, he was the one who stood by her and did not betray Mileena even if D’Vorah killed him for that, unlike Reptile and Ermac who sold her to Kotal. 

My crossover ship: It’s kind of predictable, but my crossover ships for Mileena would be Juri Han and Harley Quinn.

LAYER 001 :    THE OUTSIDE.

NAME  :       veronica rose sawyer .

EYE   COLOUR  :      deep brown .

HAIR   STYLE   /   COLOUR  :      deep brown / black , naturally very curly and difficult to control , often styled into a classic 80′s blowout .

HEIGHT  :      5′2 .

CLOTHING   STYLE  :    very fashionable ; a mix of these season’s best designers , and classic vintage pieces from reputable vintage collections .

BEST   PHYSICAL   FEATURE  :      she would say her eyes .

LAYER 002 :    THE  INSIDE.

FEARS  :      she could say being found out , but that doesn’t really scare her as much as it should . more accurately , in a main verse context , it would be losing jason / their family , through any means . she gets severely protective and overtly nervous about all of it . in post - canon verses , that’s a whole different story - jd did a real number on her , so her fears include everything from intimacy and touch , to loud noises , to the very concept of being anywhere with an unlocked window .

GUILTY   PLEASURE ��:     gin . lots of fuckin’ gin . she doesn’t feel too guilty for anything else other than her alcohol dependency .

BIGGEST   PET   PEEVE  :      literally everything can annoy her if done enough , so she can’t really say she has a pet peeve .

AMBITIONS   FOR   THE   FUTURE  :     just fucking survive , really . but on a less sombre note ; become a history professor , and ideally start a family . she’d love to be a mom .

Mortal Kombat (Midway/Acclaim, Mega Drive, 1993)

In 1992 and 1993, we’ve seen the chart topped by Japanese and British efforts at the new, improved style of one-on-one fighting game. Here’s an American effort, another part of the wave of American games beginning to crop up in our story across formats. It’s safe to say it’s better remembered than Body Blows, and in this case there’s a good reason for that beyond who won unrelated battles and wrote the history.

One key difference from Body Blows is that while Mortal Kombat shares a basic design with Street Fighter II, it finds a lot more different ways to differentiate itself. Its aesthetic is a particularly long way from Street Fighter II, replacing comic book extravagance with grit and grime. Its characters are real actors represented via grainy video capture, which lends them a spooky wrongness that was surely already there when the game was released but has grown with the technology’s obsolescence. The people feel like they’ve been captured by a screen and forced into these roles. Sent to a dimension beyond their comprehension, it’s easy to imagine their agony as their thoughts are ripped apart and all their memories fade to nothing, their very existences absorbed by the algorithm of video kompression.

With their identity thus compromised, it makes some sense that fighters are less distinct from each other. They all get the same basic moves, with limited special moves which are simple and memorable, the more so for being nicely themed. Sub-Zero freezing opponents, Raiden’s lightning moves, and... okay, not everyone is as obvious. When it comes to facing off against each other, fights are nasty, brutish and short. Simple moves take away vast chunks of fighters’ energy bars, and you don’t get much chance to think about how shallow it all is. As a quick play, Mortal Kombat is an attractive option, especially in single player. In place of complexity within the fight itself, of course, you get complex cheats and a complex sequence of commands to pull off unnecessary fatalities, the ingenious, inglorious USP of the game. After already beating your opponent, why not burn them to crisp or rip their head and spine off!

The removal of heads makes clear the real genesis of Mortal Kombat, if the demon pits and the style of fighting haven’t made it clear enough. It never had any chance of being a real alternative to Street Fighter II, but beneath the surface it isn’t even trying. Wielding simplicity as a virtue, it’s not something new, but a revival of the old tradition: Barbarian with a modern veneer. It’s shallow, it’s desperate, but on those terms it’s a big success.

One obvious difference from Barbarian is that there’s no Maria Whittaker on the cover, or in the game, this game being the product of an America where anything relating to sex would be taking things way further beyond acceptability than extreme violence. The obligatory one female competitor of eight (Mortal Kombat also features a 1:3 female:palette-swapped-male-ninja ratio), Sonya, is less male gaze-y than Chun-Li or especially Body Blows’s Maria, too. She is a pleasant oddity among an odd line-up. 

Another difference from Barbarian, but not from many, many of its contemporaries, is the Orientalism. It was really striking on replaying, because I remembered the ugliness and the violence of Mortal Kombat, but I didn’t remember the all-purpose Asianness. When I first saw them as a child I probably couldn’t have told you where Street Fighter II or Mortal Kombat was made, mind. Now, I can’t miss the invocations of shaolin mysticism, the hodgepodge of temple imagery turned evil in the background, the horrible chintzy faux-Eastern music. For all Mortal Kombat’s brutal successes, that’s what they have to be weighed against. Scraping a little from the surface of real people’s culture and using it as if it exists just to support your edgy aesthetic is a worse violence than any depiction of beheading that looks no more realistic than the Spectrum could manage.

Jamás voy a comprender por qué las personas hacen tanto escándalo por una fecha como esta, creo que quien realmente te quiere no necesita que sea catorce de febrero para regalar chocolates o algo parecido, a veces me parece muy hipócrita que se demuestren amor solo este día, pero los demás son solo discusiones, problemas, incluso las que se dicen más amigas hablan una a la espaldas de la otra, hmmm no lo sé, no me gusta nada, además me parece absurdo que si no recibes regalos de nadie te tomen como un perdedor o algo parecido, o el típico “Forever alone”

Su gran amigo lo miró dudoso por una fracción de segundo, para después mostrar una sonrisita algo burlona mientras tomaba con más intención el control de su consola de Play Station y se disponía a atacar sin piedad a su personaje en el juego de peleas Mortal Kombat, para ellos era costumbre juntarse los fines de semana para divertirse de esta manera, ayudarse con las tareas, Taka era menor que Jin, por lo que recibir su tutoría siempre era de gran ayuda, aunque claro que los momentos de bromas entre ellos no se hacían esperar.

No era algo de vida o muerte, pero Jin Sakai siempre fue un joven reservado, era muy raro que pudiera conseguir amigos nuevos, la mayoría de los que conocía se acercaron a él poco a poco, incluso de varios desconocía como es que llegó a tener un vínculo, pero era verdad, Yuna la hermana de Taka le gustaba bastante, pues habían asistido a clase juntos desde la escuela primaria, pero claro, ella solo lo veía como un buen amigo, casi como a su hermano menor, y no quería perderlo de ninguna manera, para ella valía más la amistad que ambos tenían, que una posible relación que resultara pasajera, y claro Sakai ya no volvió a intentarlo más. No era más que un dolor disfrazado, poniendo como excusa a los demás de algo que él no pudo lograr, porque aunque no decía nada, en el fondo le daba envidia ver a las parejas de enamorados, tomados de la mano, regalándose flores y compartiendo momentos juntos, mientras él solo podía vivir con el pensamiento de que al menos ella lo quería de alguna manera.

No siempre se corre con la suerte que se quiere, no siempre los sentimientos son correspondidos de la misma manera, lo importante es no aferrarse a lo imposible y seguir, pero sobre todo, no dejar caer sentimientos en otras personas, la vida le daría su oportunidad en el momento más inesperado y con la persona que menos se imaginaba, no necesariamente tenía que ser una chica, podría ser...quizá, un amigo de la infancia.

What is your total word count on AO3?

I’ve been writing for a while so... 1, 517, 003 words... and growing.

How often do you write?

Everyday, even if all I write is a single sentence.

Do you have a routine for writing?

Prior to typing, I prep my drafts and have all that, and additional notes, in front of me.  I usually write my drafts in the evenings and then type out the actual chapter during the day.

What are your favorite kinks/tropes/pairing?

I love cliffhangers (as a writer, not a reader =P ), romance, angst, and happy endings.

Do you have a favorite fic of yours?

That would be my Mortal Kombat story, “The Call of Sento.”  It actually marked an evolution in my story writing where I really noticed how much I improved since I started my hobby.

Anything you don’t like about your writing?

I’ve always had issues with tenses.  I know I’ve been getting better at it, but it still seems to plague me with every chapter I write.

Now something you do like?

My dialogues mainly because my readers tend to like them.  To them, the way I write them makes the characters feel real.

Favorite character: Kitana, hands down. She was my main since MKII, and I kinda related to her. 

Least Favorite character: Kronika. She sucks as a boss. She is boring, plain and cheap, Shinnok is ten times a better villain than Kronika will ever be.

5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): 

Taleena (Tanya x Mileena), Kuaitana (Kuai Liang x Kitana), JadeLao (Jade x Kung Lao), CageBlade (Johnny x Sonya), Bireena (Bi-Han x Sareena).

Character I find most attractive: As for women, MKX!Tanya is hottest girl I have ever seen in Mortal Kombat. As for men, MK11!Kuai Liang is the most attractive man ever.

Character I would marry: Johnny Cage. He may be a jerk sometimes but I see why Sonya married him and I can’t blame her. 

Character I would be best friends with: Kung Lao. It would be a real fun to have a wit battles with.

a random thought: I don’t care what everyone says, but alongside with Nintendo, Pokemon and the WWF (back in the day during the end of the nineties), Mortal Kombat was my childhood. Later I liked other fighting franchises as Street Fighter or Killer Instinct, but never with the same intensity which I loved Mortal Kombat. Maybe is for that reason that certain retcons saddens me.

An unpopular opinion: I don’t know how much of umpopular opinion is this, but I don’t find that the guest characters are a good idea, even if I understand the financial gain behind it. I look at both Joker and Terminator slots and kinda saddens me the fact that Havik, Mileena or Reptile could have been in MK11 roster instead of them.

My Canon OTP: Taleena. Even if it’s safe to assume that is nothing but a fling and that there is more sexual attraction than real feelings between them, I will forever ship Mileena and Tanya in a romantically way.

My Non-canon OTP: Kuaitana. No, I don’t ship Kitana with Kuai because they wear blue and are assassins. I ship them because they have a lot in common:

Both were literally raised to be assassins and became honorable warriors for good causes, like saving Earthrealm and aiding to defeat Shao Kahn. 

In their transitions, both rebelled for freedom. In the old timeline, Kuai rebelled hinself from the Lin Kuei, so they wouldn’t turn him to a robot like Smoke. Kitana rebelled herself from Shao Kahn after she discovered her real origins and Kahn’s deception regarding Mileena’s existence.

It was literally confirmed that for being a Cryomancer, Kuai has edenian ancestry even if he was born and raised in Earthrealm.

Both have to deal with a brother/sister who went or is still nuts (Noob and Mileena).

Most Badass Character: Kitana, Kitana and Kitana. ¿Who dares to ditch Shao Kahn and lives to tell it?. None than the Princess of Edenia.

Most Epic Villain: The most obvious answer in terms of popularity would be Shao Kahn. But in my eyes, my choice is Shang Tsung. While Onaga and Shao Kahn are kind of brutes, Shang has the same means that also made other characters like Palpatine or Voldemort to be formidable villains: a scheming brain and cold blood.

Pairing I am not a fan of: 

Kotal x Jade. I despise it, because Kotal is a total piece of shit in my eyes and I headcanon him as possessive, jealous and liar type of man (one of his intros with D’Vorah kinda hints the last when she implies that she bedded him). Jade can do waaaaaaay better than him. She does not deserve a supremacist git whose idea of a “uNiTeD oUtWoRlD” means the slavery of Edenia.

Liu x Kitana: is not that I don’t like them, but I was never fond of them together. Is the same feeling I also get from Baraka x Mileena.

Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): Sindel and Mileena. The first was supposed to be a caring mother who tries to deal with her dark past as Kahn’s consort and not the golddigger that NRS gave us. The second was supposed to be Kitana’s evil twin who grew up with her and later hated her by irrational motives, thanks to NRS now, Mileena is a childlike experiment from Shang Tsung’s laboratory Flesh Pits.

Favourite Friendship: Kitana/Jade, Liu/Kung and Smoke/Kuai. Personally, I like when positive and healthy friendships are portrayed in media and despite of being known by being gory and violent, Mortal Kombat has plenty of healthy friendships.

Character I most identify with: Jade.

Character I wish I could be: Kitana.

When I started shipping them: Long ago, when I discovered that I didn’t liked Liutana at all. I respect all ships, but Liutana is not my thing so I started to ship Kuai and Kitana since the days of MK9, later I found fanfictions/fanarts of them together which fueled my ship. 

My thoughts: I love them and canon or not, I will ship them forever. As I explained earlier, they have a lot in common and I don’t ship them just because they wear blue.

What makes me happy about them: The fact they have a lot of things in common so I can ship them freely.

What makes me sad about them: Nothing at all. 

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: When Kitana is depicted as a Mary Sue or a lady-in-distress. If there’s a thing that I love from her, is the fact that she has a lot of shortcomings and is not a perfect human being.

Things I look for in fanfic: A lot of fluffy. This may be cheesy, but I love Kuaitana fluffy fics. Neither am bothered by NSFW (or lemons if you want) fics as long as they are well written.

My wishlist: Not going to lie, but I don’t have one at all.

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: While I know that my ship is not canon, I’m not totally repulsed to Liutana, Liu is a cool guy who cares about Kitana after all. Just merely not my cup of tea. And if Kuai ends with Hanzo in canon, I will be okay.

My happily ever after for them: With Kitana ruling a free Edenia as Queen alongside Kuai as a Prince Consort while he reconnects with his edenian roots.

003 | Give me a character & I will tell you:

How I feel about this character: About Kitana, she is not only my main since MKII and my favorite character of this fandom, she was the first female hero that I truly liked. Words cannot describe how much I love her. Her story is one of the most epic in the Mortal Kombat universe. After she discovers Kahn’s betrayal she stands up against him by doing what she thinks is the correct thing to do. 

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: I have shipped her with Jade at some point in the past and Kuai Liang. But Kuaitana will be always my very first ship regarding Kitana.

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: Her friendship with Jade. I love when positive female friendships are depicted in media. My favorite moment of them will be when Jade in MK9 literally defects from Shao Kahn after she witnesses Kitana being arrested after she discovers Mileena’s existence and the deception related from Kahn’s part.

My unpopular opinion about this character: Even if I like the idea of Kitana defeating Shao Kahn (after the hell she endured for his cause, he had it coming. He deserved to be humlliated by Kitana), I’m not fond of the idea of NRS of ditching her Edenian identity and making her Kahnum of Outworld. I will be forever positive to the idea of a free Edenia from Outworld ruled firstly by Sindel and later by Kitana after she inherits the throne from Sindel at some point.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: That her edenian identity were acknowledged by freeing Edenia when she killed Shao Kahn during MK11, and helping Sindel to rule her realm as a warrior princess with Jade or Ermac’s aid.

Favorite friendship for this character: Like I said before, Jade will be always Kitana’s best friend.

My crossover ship: I don’t have an oficial crossover ship for Kitana. But for some weird reason, I’m kind of open to ship her with Cammy or Rose from Street Fighter.

003, Fujin (alla' them) >>

How I feel about this character: MY WINDY, GODLY CHILD!!!!

All the people I ship romantically with this character: none, actually now i think on it...

My non-romantic OTP for this character: *slamming hands on table repeatedly* STORM BROS, STORM BROS, STORM BROS (that’s brotp with Raiden for anyone who don’t know)

My unpopular opinion about this character: He deserved to be playable in all the new gen games! I was willing to let MK9 slide because of the risk of crowding the plot and the roster, but MKX and FUCKIGN KP2 THE DISAPPOINTENING was just plain rude.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: that they’d made him a regular with a full characterisation for us to get stuck in on. Raiden really needs someone to support him all the time and Fujin fits the bill perfectly as he is basically his (unkonfirmed) brother, and it would be nice to see more god characters with personalities that aren’t just ‘i’m a god i gotta do god stuff brb lol’

my het ship: none... :U

my fem/slash ship: aw geez man, I’m really not good at this

my OTP: *mongolian throat sings into the distance to avoid this*

my OT3: i’m fucking always losing it thinking about him third-wheeling to Sinden, (no thanks to your drawings of it in te past) but i like to think he genuinely enjoys hanging out with them and doesn’t mind at all when they are paying attention to each other. And Raiden and Sindel always like having him around actually because he makes things exciting. Basically, Fujin jokes about being third wheel but he’s really not because everyone knows tricycles are objectively better

my cross over ship: ehhh.... not a romantic ship, but on the subject of crossovers i love thinking about Fujin (and Raiden) meeting with other game god characters in like Palutena from Kid Icarus and Amaterasu from Okami. At closest Fujin might banter and sound like he’s flirting with Palutena but there’s no feeling other than friendship between them. And he of course would love Ammy because puppy!!!

my kink: people acknowledging his existence and treating him with the reverence, love and respect he has been deserving since forever

a head cannon fact: i hc that once upon a time he used to be kind of reclusive and shy before he met Raiden, who used to be more energetic and cheerful. the dynamic shifted when Raiden started to withdraw emotionally around the time of Earthrealm starting to really have problems in the Mortal Kombat tournaments (and then Great Kung Lao dying). Fujin basically saw Raiden was starting to close off and so decided it was his turn to try and be the one to smile for them both like Raiden did for him all that time ago

my gender bend: i guess... Fujin would maybe wear robes/dress at times as a female? nothing would really change much imho like (s)he’d still be seven feet tall and wear a long braid and similar clothing scheme. The way I see it, the gods can choose their physical forms however they like so Fujin and Raiden can totally appear female - in fact, i just think their real forms are just concentrated masses of their respective elements that are put inside a mortal vessel in order to appear physically, so that vessel can literally be anything from a human body to a heckin duck if Fujin really wanted to (and you know what he’s probably done that before for reasons known only unto him)

​HOW THE SEQUEL CAN TOP THE ORIGINAL

After doing more work for the upcoming series of WELÇOME©(AYYEEEEEE SERIES 003 COMING SOON), I've been thinking how has this series top the previous entries. It made me think of sequels I deemed better than the original and I found there were two key factors that can make the sequel surpass the original.

I. ABILITIES

I specifically remember playing MORTAL KOMBAT II for the SEGA GENESIS (nope I'm not that old, I was that young lol) and I almost instantly declared that it was better than the original. Due to the new character Kung Lao and is iconic move of throwing his hat, it was something I never seen before. In addition to knocking your opponent into a pool of acid or into a pit of spikes, MK II showed gruesome brutality at another level.

II. AWARENESS

This factor brings me to the days of TEKKEN 2. I didn't end up playing the original until after the second one released and I don't think many people in my radius even knew what TEKKEN was. However TEKKEN 2 was a different animal, the universe was expanded by a deeper story, a parallel animated movie, and the effect of word of mouth help cultivate TEKKEN 2 from cult hit to icon status.

My girl Sade Adu once said "It's Never as Good as the First Time" and in most cases she's correct, but when you can experience a second coming throughly surpassing the original, it is truly a moment to be cherished.
