Understanding the Mixer Tap: What Exactly Is It? in UAE
Tumblr media
In the world of plumbing fixtures, the mixer tap stands as a fundamental component, especially in regions like the UAE. But what exactly is a mixer tap, and why is it such an indispensable fixture in modern kitchens and bathrooms? Let's dive into the details of this essential plumbing accessory, its various types, and how it fits into the UAE lifestyle.
What is a Mixer Tap?
A mixer tap, also known simply as a mixer, is a type of faucet that blends hot and cold water streams to achieve the desired water temperature. Unlike traditional taps, which have separate handles for hot and cold water, a mixer tap combines both streams within the tap body, allowing users to adjust the water temperature with a single lever or handle.
Benefits of Using a Mixer Tap
Convenience and Efficiency
One of the primary advantages of a mixer tap is its convenience and efficiency. With a single lever or handle, users can easily adjust the water temperature and flow, making it effortless to find the perfect balance for various tasks, whether it's washing dishes, filling a bathtub, or rinsing vegetables.
Versatility
Mixer taps offer versatility in terms of functionality and design. They are available in a wide range of styles, from traditional to modern, and can be used in kitchens, bathrooms, and even outdoor spaces. Some mixer taps also come with additional features such as pull-out sprays or swivel spouts, further enhancing their versatility.
Space-Saving Design
Another benefit of mixer taps is their space-saving design. With only one spout instead of two, mixer taps take up less space around the sink or basin, leaving more room for other accessories and activities.
Water Efficiency
Many mixer taps are designed with water-saving features, such as aerators or flow restrictors, which help reduce water consumption without compromising performance. This not only helps conserve water but also lowers utility bills, making mixer taps a cost-effective choice in the long run.
Types of Mixer Taps
Monobloc Mixer Taps
Monobloc mixer taps feature a single-body unit with a single spout and lever, making them easy to install and operate. They are suitable for both kitchen sinks and bathroom basins and are available in various styles and finishes to suit different preferences.
Dual-Lever Mixer Taps
Dual-lever mixer taps have separate handles for hot and cold water, allowing users to control each stream individually. This type of mixer tap offers precise temperature control but may require more space around the sink area.
Wall-Mounted Mixer Taps
Wall-mounted mixer taps are fixed to the wall above the sink or basin, offering a minimalist look and freeing up space around the fixture. They are commonly used in modern bathrooms and kitchens and are available in both single and dual-lever designs.
Choosing the Right Mixer Tap
When selecting a mixer tap for your UAE home, consider the following factors:
Material and Finish
Opt for a mixer tap made from high-quality materials such as stainless steel or brass, which are durable and resistant to corrosion. Choose a finish that complements your kitchen or bathroom decor, whether it's polished chrome, brushed nickel, or matte black.
Water Pressure
Ensure that the mixer tap you choose is compatible with your home's water pressure system. Some mixer taps require a minimum water pressure for optimal performance, so check the specifications before making a purchase.
Brand Reputation
Select a mixer tap from reputable brands like Kohler ME, known for their quality craftsmanship and reliability in plumbing fixtures.
Budget
Consider your budget and choose a mixer tap that offers the best value for money without compromising on quality. Remember to factor in installation costs if necessary.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the mixer tap is a versatile and efficient fixture that offers convenience, versatility, and style to any kitchen or bathroom. By understanding its benefits and choosing the right type for your needs, you can enhance your living space and enjoy the perfect blend of form and function.

A plumbing emergency can strike at any time, leaving homeowners and businesses in distress. A burst pipe, a clogged drain, or a malfunctioning water heater can quickly escalate into a disastrous situation if not addressed promptly. That’s where 24/7 plumber support comes to the rescue, providing invaluable assistance around the clock to handle plumbing crises with efficiency and professionalism.
What is 24/7 Plumber Support?
24/7 plumber support is a service provided by plumbing companies that ensures round-the-clock availability for emergency plumbing needs. Unlike traditional plumbing services, which operate during regular business hours, 24/7 plumber support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays. This service aims to promptly address urgent plumbing issues, minimizing potential damages and restoring peace of mind to distressed property owners.
The Importance of 24/7 Plumber Support
Immediate Response: Plumbing emergencies can’t wait until the next business day. With 24/7 support, plumbers are just a phone call away, ready to respond promptly to any plumbing disaster. Whether it’s the middle of the night or a holiday, you can rest assured that professional help is on the way.
Preventing Property Damage: A burst pipe, a severe leak, or an overflowing toilet can cause significant damage to your property if left unchecked. Quick response times by 24/7 plumbers can help prevent extensive water damage, mold growth, and costly repairs.
Safety and Health Concerns: Some plumbing emergencies, such as gas leaks or sewage backups, can pose serious safety and health hazards. 24/7 plumber support ensures that these dangerous situations are handled by trained professionals immediately, protecting both property and occupants.
Cost-Effective Solution: Though 24/7 plumber support may come with a slightly higher service charge for emergency calls, the potential savings in preventing major damages far outweigh the cost. Timely intervention can save property owners from expensive repairs and replacements down the line.
Professional Expertise: Plumbing emergencies demand skilled expertise to be effectively resolved. 24/7 plumbing services employ experienced and licensed plumbers who have the necessary knowledge and tools to tackle a wide range of issues efficiently.
Common Plumbing Emergencies
Here are some of the most common plumbing emergencies that warrant immediate attention:
Burst Pipes: Burst pipes can cause flooding, leading to extensive water damage to walls, floors, and belongings.
Clogged Drains: Severe clogs can result in water backing up, causing potential damage and unsanitary conditions.
Gas Leaks: Gas leaks are hazardous and require immediate evacuation and professional repair.
Sewage Backups: Sewage backups can be both messy and harmful, requiring immediate cleanup and repair.
Water Heater Malfunctions: A malfunctioning water heater can lead to scalding water or no hot water at all, affecting daily routines.
Choosing the Right 24/7 Plumber Support
When selecting a 24/7 plumber support service, consider the following factors:
24/7 Availability: Ensure that the service is genuinely available around the clock, including holidays and weekends.
Response Time: Look for a company with a reputation for quick response times to address emergencies promptly.
Licensed and Insured: Choose a company with licensed and insured plumbers to ensure quality work and liability coverage.
Customer Reviews: Check online reviews and testimonials to gauge the company’s reliability and customer satisfaction.
Transparent Pricing: Seek a service that provides clear and transparent pricing to avoid surprises on the final bill.
Plumbing emergencies can occur when least expected, causing stress and disruptions. 24/7 plumber support offers a lifeline during such critical times, providing immediate assistance and resolving issues with expertise. By choosing a reputable 24/7 plumbing service, homeowners and businesses can gain peace of mind, knowing that they are prepared to handle any plumbing crisis, day or night. Modern Small Bathroom Design Ideas
Choosing a modern small bathroom design for your home can be a challenging task. Fortunately, there are many ways to make the most of your space while ensuring it looks good. Here are a few ideas for you to consider.
Hexagonal cement tiles
Using hexagonal cement tiles in the bathroom can give a chic and contemporary look. They come in endless colour and finish options to suit any decor. This versatile tile is perfect for kitchen floors, backsplashes, and shower surrounds. It can also be used in outdoor areas and entranceways.
Hexagonal cement tiles have become increasingly popular in recent years. They’re a clean, geometric shape that’s easy to work with. They can be used to create a 3-D effect and can also be combined with solid colours for a more sophisticated look.
Hexagonal tiles are a classic shape that combines well with wood and other natural materials. They are also available in a variety of patterns. They’re a great way to add interest to a bathroom and can be used sparingly.
They can be used as a floor tile, shower enclosure tile, or even on the fireplace surround. They’re a good alternative to hardwoods, and will stand up to frequent use.
Whitewashbasin and black cabinets
Using a black and white color scheme is a great way to open up a small bathroom. You can also take advantage of the natural light that is present in your space.
In addition to using dark colors, you can also incorporate a hint of color on your walls. This will make the room feel larger and more airy.
To save space, you can use built-in storage. You can install shelves behind the tub or behind the toilet. You can also install a tray over the hamper for extra storage.
Another way to save space is to use a freestanding bathtub. This will allow you to use a bath shower mixer tap instead of a bulky basin pedestal.
You can also add storage by adding wall-mounted mixer taps. These taps can be used for shower supplies, laundry baskets or even shelving. This will save you space while still maintaining your privacy.
Another simple way to save space in a small bathroom is to install pocket doors. You can also use a mirror in your bathroom to create the illusion of a larger space.
Frameless shower glasses
Adding frameless shower glasses to your modern small bathroom can make it appear larger and more open. It also adds a nice touch of elegance. Investing in a frameless shower is a great way to improve the appearance of your bathroom without gutting it.
The most common type of shower door is a framed door. The doors are attached to the walls with hinges. They are often made with glass that is frosted or tinted. These types of shower doors are easy to clean, and allow lots of natural light into the bathroom.
For a more private feel, you can choose to install rain glass. This type of glass has a textural feel that mimics rain droplets. This type of glass is great for bathrooms with organic themes. It also allows you to enjoy the benefits of clear glass without the hassle of cleaning it after each shower.
You can also choose to have custom glass shower doors installed. This will cost more than other shower doors, but it will give you more options when it comes to designing your shower. You can choose from various colors, designs, and patterns. The glass also comes with a protective coating that prevents soap scum and hard water stains.
Minimalist design
Using a minimalist design in your bathroom will help you achieve a spa-like feel. Minimalist design emphasizes open spaces. The space is decluttered and light colors are used.
Natural materials such as stone and wood are used to create a warm and inviting space. These types of materials help to make the room appear larger. Floating shelves are a great way to display plants and towels. A vanity is also a great way to hide personal products and storage.
A floating vanity makes a bathroom feel bigger. You can also use a recessed shelf to display shampoos and body washes. Floating shelves also help to unify a small space.
Tile is another great choice for a minimalist bathroom. Mosaic tiles are a popular choice because they provide a striking visual image. Also, floor length mirrors open up the space.
Wood panel walls are a great way to add a natural texture to your bathroom. You can also add a textured textile to enhance the modern character of the space.

How long does it take you to remodel your bathroom in Vancouver?
A bathroom renovation can take anywhere from four to five months. You can expect the project to take longer if permits and inspections are involved. Bear in mind that the timeline may also be affected by the size and complexity of your renovation.
How can you make a small bathroom seem larger?
There are several ways to make a small bathroom feel larger. First, use lighter colors on the floors and walls. Mirrors can be used to reflect light and create a feeling of greater space. Glass shower doors can also open up the space. Floating shelves and cabinets can also be used to create the illusion of more space.
What is the cost of a bathroom remodel to increase my home’s worth?
Bathroom remodels offer a return of investment (ROI), which is typically between 60% and 70%. They are a good choice if your goal is to add value to your house. The amount your bathroom remodel will increase the value of your home will depend on many factors including the scope of the project, the quality and location of your home. An example: A luxurious bathroom remodel in a desirable area is more likely to yield a higher ROI than one in a less expensive neighborhood.
How can I make my bathroom more modern in 2023?
The first step is to understand what you want from your bathroom.
What are the features you need and don’t need? What are your priorities?
Then start looking at products that fit those requirements.
While you may not be able to find what you need, there are plenty of options that you can choose from.
Here’s a list of things to think about:
Size – How big does your bathroom measure? Do you have to make changes in order to fit new fixtures?
Style – What’s your favorite style? Contemporary, traditional, etc.? Style – There are many options for bathroom styles. The traditional style is popular since Victorian times. It features natural stone floors. Modern bathrooms feature clean lines, sleek finishes, and open-plan layouts. Transitional designs combine elements from both traditional and contemporary styles.
Layout – Some people like smaller spaces and others prefer more space. What layout do you prefer for your bathroom?
Colour Scheme – What colours do you want in your bathroom?
Lighting – How bright do you need it? And where is it coming from?
Storage – Do you need extra storage space in your bathroom? Do you have enough storage space? Is there a way to increase storage space?
Ventilation: Is your bathroom ventilated properly?
Features – You need to think about how many features you would like in your new bathroom. You might want a heated towel rack, or a steam-shower. Do you want a Jacuzzi or spa tub? Do you want a separate tub and shower, or a combination of both?
Budget – Finally, you need to consider what you can afford. This will help narrow down your options, and prevent you from overspending.
Warranty – You should verify whether any manufacturer offers a guarantee on the product. This means they guarantee that their products will work properly for a certain period.
Once you’ve identified your requirements, it’s time you start looking for products. You can search online, in magazines or in stores. After you have found the right item, compare prices and read customer reviews before you buy it.
How can I modernize my bathroom?
There are many options to modernize your bathroom. Modern bathrooms can be achieved by incorporating simple lines and sleek designs. Other colors that you can use are white, grey, black. You can also add modern fixtures like rain showers and LED lighting to give your space an updated feel. Decluttering your bathroom and making sure that everything is in its proper place will give it a cleaner, more minimalistic appearance.

How to design the master bathroom
A master bathroom design should take into account a few factors. The first is to consider the size of your master bathroom and the fixtures you desire. You should also choose a style and color that you enjoy, as well as one that complements the overall design of your home. You should also choose materials that can withstand water and wear. Don’t forget to personalize your space with some personal touches.
It is possible to make your master bathtub feel like a spa. You can add a steam bath, heated towel racks and candles with scented candles to make your master bath feel luxurious. These small touches create an atmosphere that makes bathing feel more relaxing.
Lighting is an important aspect of a master bath. Lighting is essential for reading, working and relaxing while you bathe. If you’re going to install a skylight, choose a colour that won’t distract from the beauty of the bathroom itself.
You don’t need to go overboard when decorating your master bathroom. Keep it simple, clean and to the point. The best thing you can do is to use neutral tones and avoid bright colours. Your home will look great once your bathrooms are complete.
Storage is important! Every room needs storage, but a master bathroom is particularly important. Make sure everything is in its own place and invest in top-quality cabinetry. It’ll surprise you how much easier it will be to tidy up the bathroom when everything has its home.

Chapter 7: Painted Constellations of High-Flying Birds is up! The boys’ first time on Mount Pelion, from Achilles’ POV :)
Read here or on AO3!
*******
The first light of dawn filtered through his eyelashes, waking him.
Achilles opened his eyes slowly, merely a slit at first, then wider as he took in his surroundings. It was still early, and the world was just starting to rouse from its slumber. The jagged edges of the rose quartz crystals glittered in the light, shimmering rays of rosy sunshine that fell on the smooth cave floor and polished walls. In the distance, the song of a morning lark drifted with the morning breeze.
Beside him, Patroclus breathed, slow and steady.
He shifted to his side, shoulder digging in the soft mattress of the pallet. The pallet they shared. Odd, that they used to sleep apart before. His room back in the palace, with its two separate beds, its gilded nightstand, the rich rugs and tapestries on the walls seemed like a distant dream to him. He hadn’t missed it. The everyday luxuries that he’d once taken for granted felt superfluous to him now, the duties of a prince boring and stifling. He would gladly see his father again, but even so, he didn’t long to return. Patroclus would be the only one he would miss, he realised, had he not come after him.
Patroclus was with him now, though, close enough to touch. His chest was rising and falling with his gentle breaths, his eyelids fluttering in his sleep. Lips moving soundlessly, in some distant dream conversation. Patroclus never lay very still, or very silent, when he slept. Sometimes, Achilles would wake up in the middle of the night to find him smiling, or humming, or sighing under his breath. He often stayed awake then for a little while, simply watching, simply listening, letting his even breathing lull him back to sleep.
Odd, that he’d ever thought of leaving him behind.
Suddenly, the world outside the cave came to a standstilll. The birds went silent. The wind calmed, the leaves on the trees stopped rustling. Achilles knew well what that meant. He carefully pushed the blanket off him and rolled upright, padding towards the mouth of the cave. The skins fell shut behind him with a whisper, and he blinked once to help his eyes adjust to the light.
“My son,” his mother said, holding her hand out to him.
He took it and followed her to the small clearing they usually went to talk. The babbling brook beside them gurgled merrily as it ran over the polished river stones. Achilles sat on a flat rock, drawing shapes on the soft sand with a long piece of driftwood. Achilles enjoyed spending time with his mother, and he looked forward to his moments with her, yet that day his mind kept drifting away.  He listened absently, with half an ear, as his mother talked about this and that, about the gods and their plans, about Phthia and the castle, about his destiny. His fate.
Such a strange thing it was, to have one’s future laid out before them. Most people didn’t know what was to come, not until it was too late. He wondered what Patroclus would do, were he to receive a prophecy like that. Patroclus had never blindly submitted to his fate, not once, as long as he’d known him. Always pushing at its edges, testing its limits, even when he barely realised it himself.
Tough yet soft. Gentle yet defiant. All his subtle incongruities. The strength, the fragility of him. Achilles smiled, despite himself.
“You are distracted today,” he heard his mother say. “What is the matter?”
With a sharp breath, Achilles turned to her, meeting her piercing gaze levelly. “Mother,” he said. “I’d like to ask you something.”
~
She can’t see us here.
The thought latched itself onto his heart, making it hop in his chest. He didn’t waste a moment before returning to the cave after his mother was gone. He felt giddy, restless, a touch light-headed. She couldn’t see them there. How had he not thought to ask her before? He had to tell Patroclus. He would want to know. Wouldn’t he?
A wild thought crossed his mind. He could kiss him now. He could kiss Patroclus, and his mother would never know. His pulse thumped excitedly in his throat. He imagined kissing Patroclus, the flush that would creep up his cheeks, the surprise in his eyes, the wonder. He imagined him smiling at him, a little breathless, then leaning in to catch Achilles’ lips in a kiss of his own. It would be heavenly, wonderful, sublime; everything he’d ever wanted.
It felt too much to ask.
The entrance of the cave was just in view. It was still early, and Patroclus would be asleep. If he went in now, he would find him curled on his side, clutching Achilles’s pillow, seeking the warmth he’d left behind. Achilles would tickle his ear, or touch his nose to wake him, and Patroclus would open his eyes and gaze at him in silent confusion for a breath before his lips would widen in a smile. Lips he’d kissed, once, years ago.
He wondered whether Patroclus still remembered that.
Achilles ducked as he passed under the hanging branches of a jasmine tree. It was in full bloom, the fragrant white blossoms heavy with morning dew. Patroclus liked the scent of jasmine. Back in Phthia, he would always place them in his clothes chest, tuck them in between the folds of the fabric to retain the scent. Jasmine and gardenias and myrtle blossoms, sometimes a sprig of rosemary too. Something he’d seen his tithene do, he’d told Achilles, the woman that had helped raise him in Opus. He always smelt like spring, even in the depths of winter.
Twirling a sprig full of jasmine flowers between his fingers, Achilles entered the cave and carefully sat at the edge of the pallet, beside Patroclus. He liked watching him when he slept, when there was no danger of being caught. He let his gaze glide over his deep set eyes, the delicate slope of his nose, the bow upper lip, the full bottom lip. The subtle curl at the edges of his mouth that always made him look thoughtful, as did the tiny, tiny wrinkle between his arched brows. Achilles held the jasmine flowers underneath Patroclus’ nose, biting his lip in anticipation. In a moment, his nostrils would flare and widen. Then, his brows would gather. And then his eyes would open, and-
Thick and dark eyelashes fluttered, revealing gentle, honey brown eyes.
“Good morning,” Achilles whispered.
Patroclus’ lips widened a soft, slow spreading smile. “Good morning,” he replied in his hoarse, sleep-laced voice, pushing himself up on his elbows. “What’s this?”
“It’s for you.” He held it upright with the tips of his fingers. “Aren’t you going to take it?”
Patroclus huffed a quiet laugh, his eyes shining in delight as he plucked the blossoms. “Thank you.”
“The jasmine trees are blooming. I thought of you.”
“You did?”
“Yes.” Achilles shifted on the pallet, laced his fingers together on his lap. His pulse had quickened, and it felt like he had just run a mile although he was sitting perfectly still. He cleared his throat. “I saw my mother today.”
Patroclus sat beside him, tilting his head to the side in curiosity. “I know. You were up early.”
“She told me something.”
“What was it?” He uttered the question quickly, in a single breath, worry creasing his brow.
She can’t see us here.
The words lay at the tip of Achilles’ tongue, yet he couldn’t breathe them into being. His heart beat faster and faster, until it was a steady, rapid thrum in his chest. And Patroclus kept watching him. Always watching him, waiting, patient. Gentle. So gentle.
Achilles reached out, his fingers closing about Patroclus’ forearm. Velvet smooth skin, reed slender bones, a quiet pulse beating underneath his fingertips. He dabbed his lips with his tongue, taking a deep breath. “She told me-”
The soft clop of Chiron’s hooves outside the cave made him stop abruptly. Patroclus’ gaze left Achilles’ to drift to the source of the sound, and the world suddenly seemed dimmer, cruder, jagged edges that dug into his skin. The centaur called their names in his deep, steady voice. His voice was always a comfort, yet now Achilles could barely stifle the irritation that sparked inside him. He shot up from the pallet and walked outside, the pelts snapping behind him.
“Chiron,” he said, somewhat more sharply than he’d intended. Patroclus wasn’t far behind.
“These herbs need to be pounded into a paste before they wilt,” the centaur told them, handing them each a basket full of rosemary and chamomile, dandelion and nettle. He walked towards the cave, and they both followed him, albeit reluctantly. Patroclus shot him a glance over his shoulder, curious and examining.
The notes from his lyre coiled around him, sweet like birdsong, vibrating in the enclosed space. Achilles found no comfort in the music, in the simple act of playing, like he usually did. His mind was elsewhere.
Achilles glanced away. What he had to say, it would have to wait.
~
What he had to say, it couldn’t wait any longer.
The moment he saw the centaur’s eyelids drooping, his breaths deepening, Achilles stood up, setting his lyre to the side. “Patroclus and I should leave you to your rest, Chiron.” He avoided Patroclus’ inquisitive glance as he turned towards the cave. What he had to say, he had to say to him alone, yet when Patroclus looked at him like this, he doubted his own ability to control himself.
Achilles hurriedly washed his face and neck over the small wash basin. He took his clothes off and slithered under covers, eyes set on the ceiling above him. His fingers were tapping a steady rhythm on his stomach when Patroclus entered the cave, footsteps careful and precise, a doe making its way through lush forest land. Achilles listened absently to the water droplets falling in the basin as Patroclus washed himself as well, watched the muscles of his back moving under his skin. Soft skin, smooth like rose petals. Begging to be touched.
“My mother-” he started, and his voice cracked. He cleared his throat, tried again. “My mother can’t see us here.”
“Hm?”
His gaze snapped to the ceiling when Patroclus turned around. Achilles wetted his lips.
“I asked her if she can see us here.” He took a breath. “She says, she cannot.”
“Oh.” Patroclus stood very still. It felt like a lifetime later that he set the washcloth down and approached the pallet with measured steps. Achilles studied the painted constellations on the cave wall with keen interest as Patroclus undressed himself, listened as he folded his tunic and laid it to the side. He slithered under the covers beside him, and Achilles’ skin prickled when the cool air touched it. Soon, the warmth from Patroclus’ body reached his own, like a gentle embrace.
Neither of them moved. Achilles counted his heartbeats in the silence, the flow or Patroclus' breaths. Everything was perfectly still, save for Achilles' blood that coursed swiftly beneath his skin, hot to boiling.
He shifted to his side, and Patroclus turned to look at him. Soft brown eyes, wide in something that looked like fear, like anticipation, met his in the warm candlelight.
Achilles leaned forward.
It was a small, almost imperceptible movement. Achilles closed the distance between them in a single breath, his lips meeting Patroclus' without error. Achilles shivered when his mouth opened under his own on a silent gasp then closed again, sweetly, like a nightflower at the break of dawn. He moved closer, pressing against him. Impatience and wonder coursed in his blood, hot like blazing embers. Patroclus’ hand trembled as it smoothed down the length of Achilles' arm, his sides, gathering him closer still, until it felt like their hearts were beating against each other’s like one.
The covers had tangled around their legs, and Achilles tossed them aside. He suddenly couldn't bear the feel of fabric on him. He wanted nothing else but Patroclus’ skin on his skin, his hands on him, his breath mingling with his. Countless times had Achilles seen him bare, many more his gaze had traced the lines of his body, the stretch of his skin over his muscles, the line of soft dark fur that trailed down his stomach, his navel. His hands followed those same pathways, pathways that he knew by sight as well as his own; now he was learning them anew by touch, by smell. Patroclus’ need was as palpable as his own, and the thought alone warmed Achilles to his core.
He reached down between them and took him in his hand, his palm curling around the hardened length. Patroclus sighed, arching into his touch. A blush crept up his chest, his neck, pink and honey gold like a sunset. Long fingers tangled in Achilles’ hair, tugging gently; Achilles lapped his own name from Patroclus’ tongue when he whispered it.
“Do not stop,” Patroclus breathed against his lips, trembling. “Don’t-”
“I will not.” Achilles kissed his cheeks, his chin, his eyes, his open mouth. He licked the rapid thrum of his pulse, traced the tendons of his delicate throat with his teeth, flicked his tongue over a dark nipple that pebbled in the cool air. “I’ll never stop,” he murmured into the dip of his collarbone, the rise and fall of his chest, the beat of his blood under his warmed up skin.
I won’t stop, he thought, ever again, nor shall I ever let anything stop me from being with you.
They moved in tandem, waves crashing against the shore, then retreating, only to pour forth and meet once more. His hand moved firmly as he watched, entranced, the pleasure in Patroclus’ features, the way it swelled. It brightened his cheeks, made his breath tremble. The moon and stars reflecting in his eyes. It rose and soared, ever higher, until it blossomed in Achilles’ hand. A muffled cry broke free from Patroclus’ lips, only to crash against his own.
No sooner had Achilles released him, their lips bruised and raw from their kisses, than Patroclus’ fingers danced swiftly down his chest, his belly, before closing carefully around him. Achilles lay very still; his pulse was thumping in his ears as those fingers tightened, holding him fast. It was strange, having Patroclus kiss him like this, touch him- hands that had held his own, arms that had wrapped around him when they’d played and fought and wrestled. He could feel his body coming alive under his touch, warmth surging through him in waves. His eyes burnt and he closed them, his hips moving on their own to meet that pressure, that heat. Patroclus lips were on his ear, the side of his neck, the curve of his shoulder.
“Patroclus,” Achilles panted as he pulled his mouth up to his once more, drawing breath from his lungs, “Patroclus-”
His pleasure rose until his body felt like a dam, struggling to keep back a rushing river. Light, white hot and blinding burned behind his eyelids as he shuddered, melting in Patroclus’ arms like wax over a candle flame.
Time stretched languidly around them, fuzzy and indistinct, as they both caught their breaths. They slowly peeled away from each other, and it was only then that Achilles felt the chillness of the night air. His skin was sticky with sweat, his hair clinging to the nape of his neck. He lay on his back and swallowed thickly as a shiver coursed through him. He was suddenly afraid to meet Patroclus’ gaze, to break the silence that had settled between them. In a moment of bravery, he turned to look at him, and found him watching.
“I did not think-” he started, then paused. Patroclus’ eyes were wide, the trembling light of their lamp catching in their corners. “I did not think we would ever-” A long moment passed that Achilles scrambled for words, words true enough to encompass what he felt.
I did not think you’d ever want me, he thought silently, like this, like I want you. That we would ever be here, like this, like I wanted us to be.
“Neither did I,” Patroclus whispered, as if he had heard his thoughts.
“Are you sorry?” The question was out of him before he could stop it.
Patroclus’ answer was quick, immediate and sure, like an arrow. “I am not.”
“I am not either.” Achilles released the breath he hadn’t realised he’d been holding as he reached out to him in the half dark, threading their fingers together. He leaned close enough to bury his nose in his hair, to take a deep breath of his smell. Musk and clean sweat, the scent of early jasmine blossoms mingling with that of warm, wet earth.
“Patroclus,” he whispered into his skin, the sounds rolling gently off his tongue. Patroclus hummed and relaxed in his hold, curling against him like a dove in the cup of his palm.
We’ll never be parted, Achilles promised himself, drawing him close as he drifted into a light and blissful sleep. I’ll never let anything keep me from you, never, so long as I draw breath.

can’t we all just get oolong? ch. 2
AO3
title: can’t we just get oolong? author: Reyxa rating: T summary: au where zuko and iroh settle in ba sing se post-banishment. when a pretty water bender start frequenting the jasmine dragon, zuko’s world turns upside down.
note: slightly shorter chapter this time around but the next one will be Beefy so stay tuned!!
Chapter 2: White Tea
Katara has spent the whole morning distractedly tugging on her braid, a little anxious at the notion of returning to the Jasmine Dragon.
It’s less that she thinks it’s dangerous and far more that she’s nervous to see Zuko. She hates more than anything the way he stirs her chest, the way his name is etched across her mind right now.
“Katara!” Aang jolts her from her reverie, calling her name as he emerges from their bathroom. “You wanna go looking for your mom’s necklace today?”
She searches desperately for an excuse. She just can’t take Aang with her to the teashop. She wouldn’t risk it, especially since it seems like those two firebenders had ties to Azula herself. It would be too dangerous touting the Avatar around like that.
And maybe a part of her really just wants to scope out the teashop again by herself.
“We can’t, Aang.” Sokka pipes up before Katara can even begin to form coherent sentences. “I really want to go talk to some more aristocrats and government officials around here. Knock on some doors.” he combs his hair into his wolf tail as he speaks, squinting into the mirror. “Remember that one guy across the street who warned us about the Dai Li after Joo Di left that first day searching for Appa? I’m sure there’s more people around here willing to talk to us and having the Avatar around won’t hurt.”
Toph is toying with her headband, using it to poke between her toes. “I’m with Snoozles. We should really try to get our plans to the Earth King as fast as possible. Then we can get the hell out of this city.”
Katara hops off the couch to refill her waterskins at the basin, trying to hide her relieved expression. “They’re right, Aang. We should focus on finding Appa and figuring out the invasion first. I’m sure my necklace will turn up! It always does.”
Aang nods. “Yeah, I get it. But we’ll find it as soon as we can, okay?”
She smiles reassuringly.
~
Zuko peers into the teashop from behind the counter, counting the amount of customers who need serving. Sure that his uncle can handle it on his own for a while, Zuko slips out the backdoor into the alley.
The alley is empty save for a few abandoned carts collecting dust. The bustle of the main streets can be heard on either side but hardly anyone glances into the dark cove.
The mid-afternoon sun is high and heavy, but Zuko relishes its presence. He draws on its heat, feels it burn through his veins. Breathing deeply, eyes closed in concentration, he slides into a basic stance.
Drawing on his inner fire, he steps and throws a punch down the alley.
He opens one eye, praying for some sort of flame. His fist smolders, prickling with a fire that won’t burst.
He grunts and throws a regular punch at the wall, hardly feeling the skin on his knuckles split against the brick.
The one thing he was born to do and he can’t even do that.
Okay, okay, what would Uncle say right now? he contemplates, holding his mildly bleeding hand against his chest. ‘Zuko, it is not your ability that is wanting but your ability to look within yourself to seek your true abilities.’ he groans internally. That still makes no sense.
Shaking his head, he commits to working through a few more firebending forms, at most producing short erratic sparks. He isn’t sure how much time has passed but sweat is pouring down his temples and drenching his Jasmine Dragon uniform.
He throws in the towel, mounting frustration turning his mind to shreds. Wiping sweat with the corner of his apron, he slides back into the shop.
As much as he wants to rush upstairs and wash the afternoon off himself, his uncle is waiting by the door, tapping his foot expectantly. “What were you up to, nephew?
Zuko sighs. “I was trying to firebend.”
Iroh’s brow lifts in surprise. “Firebending? Any particular reason?”
Bracing himself for another lecture, Zuko stalks over to the teapots, pouring himself a chilled glass. “How many times do I have to explain, Uncle? Azula is on our tails! She’ll be expecting a fight, you know how she is.”
“This again.” Iroh shakes his head. “Prince Zuko, I understand I cannot remove this notion that the Fire Nation is chasing you. I know it is both what you fear and what you desire. But, please, at least do not let my teashop become collateral damage to your ways.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Zuko storms out into the teashop, piling dirty cups angrily.
He feels like he’s teetering on the edge, like his mind is a hurricane thrashing away at his grip on reality. The last time he had felt so tumultuous, he was angry at being stuck here in Ba Sing Se, instead of being allowed by his Uncle to chase the Avatar. All he had wanted was to return home, Avatar in tow. He had been neglectful of his burn wounds, barely caring for his health and lashing out at his uncle who did.
It had taken a long time for that anger to turn to dejection to turn to acceptance of his circumstance.
But the sight of that girl, with eyes bluer than Ember Island oceans and fierce unyielding words spilling past her lips, had made him regress. She’s a curse, he knows it.
But something tells him she’s his answer too.
~
Katara knows breaking into an unsuspecting teashop full of firebenders in the middle of the night may not be her brightest idea yet but it’s too late to turn back.
The streets are emptied save for a few Dai Li posts but she fancies herself a master of stealth as she hugs the shadows. Her shoes are soundless against the stone-paved streets and she keeps half of her water tucked in the palm of her hand.
The gang still hadn’t really figured out what the deal with the Dai Li is quite yet but Katara does know she’d rather not get caught breaking curfew. She had noticed their piercing gazes and Joo Di’s tight smile when any Dai Li were posted nearby. Though the city was a refugee haven, something told Katara they wouldn’t care very much that she was the Avatar’s companion if she were caught breaking the rules.
The sound of feet slipping against stone whispers in her ear, sending her ducking into an alley until her heart stopped pounding in her ears. The patrol of Dai Li, marching in stiff lines to match their stern faces, pass by her hiding spot without glancing her way.
She steals further down the dark alleyway, not particularly sure where in Ba Sing Se she was. Navigation is Sokka’s thing and she’s only been to the Jasmine Dragon once.
Sighing, she heads back down the main street, still lurking in the shadows. Time passes her by but the moon remains high in the sky, lighting her path.
“Hey! You’re breaking curfew!” a voice shouts behind her.
Katara’s spine stiffens, heart pounding wildly. She draws the rest of her water from her water skin, its presence assuring her she would not be the captured one tonight. She pivots on her toes to face the Dai Li voice.
His rocks are poised to handcuff, feet already in an earthbending stance.
But it isn’t her he’s shouting at.
Dirt flies as she throws herself behind a vacant food stall. She counts her heartbeat as the altercation develops to blows.
“I need back up!” The Dai Li soldier shouts. Katara can hear the sounds of struggle but she isn’t sure who was on the other side.
Against her better judgement, she peeks over the dusty wooden table. The Dai Li soldier slides into his bending forms solidly, pushing rock after rock. Clearly trained well, he springs off the wall as he narrowly escapes the deadly end of twin swords.
Twin swords Katara finds a little familiar.
No way.
Scrambling on hands on knees, she crawls closer to the fight. Her head pokes out from the left side. Across the stone-paved street is the Dai Li agent, sweating under his green robes as he ducks under the reach of a broadsword. Two other agents run in from the far side of the street, faces illuminated beneath the street lamps. Between them is the swordwielder, a flurry of motion as he fights off the agents. A mask conceals his features, a taunting blue smile with tusks on each end.
The man hesitates just for a second before throwing one of his swords to pin a soldier against the wall. Katara can’t help but imagine golden eyes staring at her.
She wants to run. Go back home or keep skirting the streets to find the Jasmine Dragon but she feels glued to her spot as the swordwielder takes hit after hit. He remains soundless, even as a boulder to the chest takes him down. His last sword skitters out of reach.
The Dai Li wear triumphant smiles as they wrestle him to his feet to cuff him. The flash of Water Tribe lapis lazuli tied around his wrist winks at her for a second before rock binds his hands together.
Her heart stops, she blinks as if imagining it. Sighing, she rises to her feet, watching a Dai Li agent reach for his mask. I’m gonna regret this, aren’t I?
Adrenaline is already filling her veins as her waterskins pop open.
Feet pounding against the pavement, she encases her arms with the water and reaches across the street to the agent. The water stretches, wrapping around his shoulders. Katara flicks her wrist, throwing the man against the wall.
Her water splashes over the masked man and the other agent who takes no time to summon a few boulders.
She skids out of their path, throwing ice shards at the agent. His distraction with her loosens the grip he has on the man in cuffs. She watches the rock encasing crumble away from his wrists as he slams them against the brick wall. Katara can’t help a silent smile as he rushes to grab his swords.
Dai Li agents seem to double in numbers every second that passes. They emerge from the shadows and Katara finds herself fearing arrest. For every single agent she knocks out, two others replace him.
She sweeps her leg, water follows its trail and knocks back several Dai Li agents. A presence at her back sets her spine straight but it’s only the masked stranger standing at her back, swords a swift blur.
Instinct takes over. Her body moves through bending forms on its own volition while overly aware of the potential firebender at her back.
A streetful of Dai Li agents either lying unconscious on the pavement or pinned to several buildings are left when they’re done.
Katara’s panting wildly, her heart pounding out of her chest. So much for a discreet heist.
“Come with me.” the masked man grabs her risk and drags her off before she can bother protesting.
~
Zuko tears off his mask as they duck into the alleyway behind the Jasmine Dragon. He waits for surprise to flicker over the waterbender’s face but it doesn’t come.
She simply looks at him, arms crossed. “I have questions.”
“It seems like you always have questions.” he rolls his eyes, sheathing his swords.
Indignation fills her voice. “Yeah, well you owe me answers! Why do you have my mother’s necklace? You took it from me on purpose, didn’t you? Of course you did, why wouldn’t you stoop so low, firebender? You know—”
He grabs her shoulders, hushing her quietly. “Please, stop. You talk more than my uncle.”
Her blue eyes blaze. “Fine. Say your piece.”
He shakes his head. She really is something. “Fine. I didn’t take your necklace, you left it here.”
“And you decided to comb the streets of Ba Sing Se looking for me?! Why?” she’s straining to keep her voice low.
“Let me talk!” Zuko didn’t exactly have an answer as to why he thought taking the necklace and sneaking out would be a good idea. There was a very slim chance he would run into her or find where she was staying but he had taken the chance anyway. He can’t help but feel a little smug that it worked out. “I needed answers. I needed to know what you know about Azula.”
“I’m still not convinced you’re not working with her. Your uncle is nice enough but you, I don’t know.” she steps away from him, eyeing the necklace dangling from his wrist.
“I’m not working with my sister and I never would!” he chews his lip, eyes flickering over her face. He sighs. “I just want to keep my uncle and his teashop safe from her. If she found out we were in the city…”
Her eyes soften a little and something in Zuko’s chest shifts. He throws the feeling to the back of his mind. There’s no time to analyze that. “I— fine. But I have questions too.”
He nods, feeling the pit in his stomach dissipate. He’ll finally get answers. He can finally find peace.
“Are you two going to keep shouting in the alleyway or will you at least come inside?”
Zuko jumps back at the sound of his uncle’s voice. The waterbender is holding fistfuls of his shirt, equally startled.
Iroh grins at them, still in his pajamas. He gestures for them to follow, humming as he leads them into the teashop.
Zuko and the waterbender girl glance at each other before she yanks back her hands and follows his uncle.
Zuko shakes his head and shuts the door behind them.

So let’s talk about bidets
Because toilet paper shortage and all of that
Bidets come in three basic types: Standalone, handheld, and toilet seat.
Of the three, if you suddenly find yourself without toilet paper, handheld is probably the most useful.
Handheld Bidets
Tumblr media
Handheld bidets are also known as bidet showers, bidet wands, bidet sprayers, or cloth diaper sprayers.  They function in the same manner as a detachable shower head or kitchen sink sprayer.  They can be mounted to a wall or to the toilet tank, and are used by aiming the nozzle where you want the water to hit.  They are installed by attaching them to the water intake line for the toilet, and are turned on and off by a valve at the intake.

If you don’t have the funds to have a bidet shipped to you, or if you need one now and you don’t have any bottles, your best bet is just going from your toilet straight into your shower and washing yourself there.
Toilet Seat Bidets
Tumblr media
Toilet seat bidets either sit below your toilet seat or are integrated into the seat itself.  Like handheld bidets, they are hooked up to the intake line for the toilet.  Some also come with an additional line that can hook up to the hot water line under the bathroom sink.  The bidets are controlled by either buttons or dials on the side of the toilet.
Toilet seat bidets can be electric or non-electric.  Electric bidets offer options such as air drying or seat warming.  They can cost hundreds of dollars.  Non-electric toilet seat bidets, which only spray water, are much more affordable.
As a word of caution, if you have to stand up to pee, some people find it difficult to avoid hitting the bidet nozzle as they do.

Standalone Bidets:
Tumblr media
Obviously you’re not going to have a plumber/renovator come out and install a standalone bidet for you in the middle of a pandemic, but if you have a bidet in the house with its water supply shut off, you can look into turning it back on.  If you have access to one and you’re not sure how it’s meant to be used, there are instructions below.
Standalone bidets come in two styles: nozzle and tap.  Nozzle bidets shoot water up from the bottom of the basin.  You straddle the bidet and use the center tap to adjust the height of the spray, while the left and right taps control the water temperature.
Tap bidets have a single tap that pours water down into the basin.  You can either stop the drain and splash the water from the basin up onto yourself while straddling the bidet, or position yourself so the flow of water comes down directly onto your body.
How to use a standalone bidet: https://www.bidet.org/pages/how-to-use-a-bidet
Other Notes:
Tumblr media
The earliest bidets were basically just basins of water that people splashed up onto themselves.  You can do this with a bathtub or other container, though at that point it’s probably easier and more convenient just to shower off.
If you’re not completely confident in your ability to dismantle and reassemble plumbing piping, don’t.  You don’t want to deal with flooding and emergency plumber calls when you’re meant to be social distancing.  Just use a squeeze bottle or a shower instead.
Don’t worry about cold water.  You don’t feel it the same down there, for whatever reason.  It’s not like jumping into a freezing pool or anything.
Wash your hands.
Bidet is French for pony, just a fun fact

Are you currently trying for a vintage vintage look, a sleek modern look, Old World traditional or something elegant as well as traditional? Nickel or pewter faucets are perfect for the traditional kitchen area, copper or bronze are good for Old World and nation style kitchens, and stainless or stainless steel faucets possess a contemporary look.
One of the first items to know before shopping for a sink is your hole configuration. The majority of sinks come with holes drilled to receive the faucet and frequently accessories such as a sprayer, cleaning soap dispenser, hot beverage or even filtered water faucet. 1 hole sinks are with regard to single-control faucets, three pit are for single-control taps with a sprayer and/or add-ons and four holes are regarding single-control or two-handle basins with various accessories. If you have a good under-mount or apron top sink the holes tend to be drilled into the countertop driving the sink.

High-Arc Taps
If you wash a lot of big pots, fill vases frequently or have a big roomy kitchen sink a high arc faucet is most likely for you. High-arc, also known as gooseneck or high neck sinks, give you more room to operate. Today's high arc cooking area faucets often have beautiful moving curves and tapered grips and could easily be the center point of a kitchen. These faucets at home are best used in deep kitchen sinks, they will cause splashing when the sink is shallow. Many bar sink faucets are usually of the high arc kind to allow as much room as you can for washing produce.
Pullout and Pull-Down Faucets
Pullout faucets have a spray mind that pulls out in your direction, whereas a pull-down spigot has a spray head which pulls down toward the base of the sink. The pull-outs would be the fastest growing in popularity of any kind of faucet in the industry with valid reason, they are the perfect combination of style and performance. A button or toggle manage makes it easy to go from aerated stream to spray. Search for one that swivels 360 degrees intended for easy access to all areas of your own sink.
Single Handle Kitchen area Faucets with Side Apply
Single handle faucets nevertheless make up more than 80% associated with faucet sales and are favored by builders. These faucets are generally basic and have a single manage that controls temperature along with flow. These are available with the side spray which is a lot less expensive than the pull-out apply faucets. They also allow you to have a twig with a vintage-look faucet.
Two-Handle Faucets
Two-handle faucets (one hot and one cold) aren't as popular as one deal with because they are not as easy to use. They are doing have a classic look which makes a strong fashion statement in Even victorian and other period style kitchen areas.
Touch Faucets
Touch fixtures are fantastic and are rapidly growing in popularity. These hands-free kitchen faucets turn on in addition to off with just a lighting touch of a hand or perhaps arm. These faucets have become a favorite in "aging within place" kitchens or using the disabled. These are wonderful inclusions in any food prep drain because they are so easy to turn on along with dough or flour protected hands. They are also useful for any potting bench sink.
Wall-Mounted Kitchen Faucets
As you might imagine, these are attached to the walls above the sink. They are often observed with farm sinks and often vessel sinks. These taps are becoming more popular since the kitchen apron or farm sinks made a big hit in almost every design kitchen. Keep in mind when using some sort of wall-mount faucet the water provide must extend up the wall structure above the sink.

How To Choose The Right Bathroom Remodeling Sink
The bathroom sink or washbasin is an extremely important piece in the economy of your bathroom, which plays both a functional and an aesthetic role. It is the usefulness and functional role of the bathroom sink that "forces" you to choose a high quality and see here piece! Frequent use of both the bathroom itself and especially the sink, makes these two elements to be points of maximum interest in any home.
Customers are often confused when trying to choose from the hundreds of options available on the market, and selecting a particular model can be a little overwhelming. And this happens not only to amateurs, but also to those who set off very confidently!
Tumblr media
Read also Bathtub and washbasin - choice and installation
In order to avoid possible shortcomings, you must first think about the type of room you are going to arrange (basic bathroom, family bathroom, service bathroom), who and how many people will use the room and, of course, how much. space you have. With these minimum parameters in mind and being armed with the following information, you can narrow down the options right for your home. With almost "clean hands", find out the differences between the 8 most used bathroom sink styles and discover the one perfect for your space!
Types of sinks
1. Sink submerged or buried in the countertop
This type of sink is at the same level as the piece of stone (preferably) on which it was mounted, the so-called bathroom remodeling countertop, the sink seat being completely covered by the countertop. It can be made of stone (marble, travertine, granite, limestone, mosaic, sandstone), melamine chipboard, wood, etc. Of course, those made of chipboard and wood should be treated with a special varnish against moisture. Suspended countertops with built-in washbasins are very modern and add style to any bathroom. You can make any size of countertop without visible joints (monobloc) for the sink or sink, in a wide variety of colors and shapes.
Pros : This type of sink creates a flawless, clean look because the bottom of the sink is virtually invisible. Water and drains can be wiped directly from the countertop in the sink without any restraint, making them an easy-to-clean option especially for family bathrooms.
Good for : Very crowded family bathroom remodeling.
2. Sink with mounting on top
A top-mounted or drop-in sink is designed to be placed on top of the countertop, as the name suggests. In general, most of the sink is placed under the countertop, only its edge remaining on top and visible above the countertop. The frame can be thin or slightly thicker, depending on the style you choose.
Pros : Top-mounted sinks are suitable for most countertop materials, including wood and laminate, because the cutout is covered by the sink and therefore does not risk being damaged by water. They are also less expensive than under-assembled sinks, as they do not require polishing the cut edges.
Good for : Elegant master bathrooms and minimalist schemes.
3. Pedestal sink
If your preference is a simple sink on the wall, and water and waste pipes pass through the floor and cannot be changed, then a pedestal sink is a great option.
Pros : The pedestal under the sink is between the bottom of the sink and the floor, hiding any pipes between them. A pedestal sink is also pleasant and aesthetically perfect if you want to give your bathroom a classic atmosphere.
Good for : Vintage bathrooms and traditional schemes.
4. Sinks with mounting entirely above the countertop
Such a sink / washbasin is generally completely on top of the countertop, although there are also models mounted partially under the countertop.
Pros : Unlike sinks that are exposed above the countertop very little or not at all, the sink is fully visible requiring attention and a special way to create a declarative look in your bathroom. As the name suggests, a sink actually placed on the countertop is basically like a large wash basin, so it's a great choice of bathroom remodeling if you like the idea of a deep sink containing a large amount of water.
Good for : Master bathrooms in luxurious and refined style.
5. Integrated sink and countertop
Many cupboards without shelves offer the ideal countertop for a sink, a kind of "all-in-one". In this style, the sink is practically cast as part of the countertop, which can be made of different materials, such as porcelain or acrylic or (why not?) Marble. Pros : The built-in sink is easy to clean. There are no edges or interruptions, making rationalization an excellent choice for crowded family bathrooms. These sinks are generally available in set standard sizes. Some vendors may also offer the option to have products customized to the size that best suits your space.
Good for : Those who want to arrange their bathroom as soon as possible, due to lower costs and time savings.
6. Semi-buried sink
If your bathroom has limited space, but you would like space for another closet under the sink, ideal for extra storage, then a semi-buried option might be the solution you need.
Pros : A semi-buried sink is in the front of your closet or countertop, allowing you to have shallower cabinets - maybe even about 30 cm more shallow, depending on the model you choose. Imagine that the "belly" of the sink is simply protruding from the countertop or the support cabinet! This type of cabinets frees up valuable floor space as they are narrower. This can be a good option for families with young children and people with limited mobility, as you can get close to the sink to get to bathroom remodeling the tap without clogging the countertop and cabinets.
Good for : Children's bathrooms and cramped spaces.
Tumblr media
7. Wall-mounted sink
This type of sink is fixed directly to the wall without the need to place it on a countertop. It looks extremely streamlined and gives the room a minimalist feel.
Pros : The wall-mounted sink has no cabinets under it, which saves space and leaves more surface visible. The room will thus become visibly larger. For a wall-mounted sink to be economical for your space, plumbing must be positioned inside the wall to look clean. Good for : Very small spaces.
8. Sink (almost) flat
These are often spotted in hotels and restaurant bathrooms, being the simplest of the options. They are thin, streamlined and elegant.
Pros : Simple sinks for washing take up very little space so that they can fit in a room where space is limited. It is ideal for small bathrooms. They can be made of granite stone, marble or processed stone. A stainless steel hose will be mounted under the sink to carry the water before it reaches the drain pipe in the back wall.

Rescue Me-Part 5
My alarm wakes me up on Monday and I begrudgingly reach over, hitting the off button without even opening my eyes. This weekend had been busy, the ‘Clash of the Century’ a boxing match between the current champion and his contender whom I didn’t know the names of, had taken place on Saturday night and of course, being a sports bar the Bunker had been deemed the place to be to watch the highly advertised event. The Bunker had four flat screen, high definition television monitors secured throughout the main layout and one above the bar so it was convenient for the patrons to enjoy the show.
I groan as I roll out of bed. The Bunker had been so full and lively that both Dean and I, along with Sam, had pitched in and helped the employees on shift. Dean, being a recovering alcoholic, had been practically banned from working behind the bar so he mostly just socialized with the customers and alerted the waitresses when someone needed something. Sam was behind the bar, helping Evan and Jimmy serve while I was in the kitchen with Greg and Shawn preparing orders as they came in. Between the heat from the grill and the probably over capacity crowd, working the kitchen had been a sweltering affair, pun intended.
Walking into the bathroom I turn the faucet on in the shower and undress while it heats up. The scalding temperature of the water feels heavenly on my sore muscles. I stand and revel in the cascade of ache relieving beads of bliss. When my body begins to acclimate to the incalescence, I grab the shampoo and wash my hair then scrub myself with the coconut body wash.
In the kitchen, I scoop the coffee into the carafe and turn it on. While it is brewing, I slide a couple of pieces of bread in the toaster. As I am waiting for the toast to brown and the coffee to percolate I suddenly hear a drip drip drip sound. I search around until I figure out the noise is coming from underneath the sink. I open the cabinet and the water line is dripping, great!
Tumblr media
I pull a bucket from the pantry and sit it up to catch the leak. My usual breakfast of buttered toast and coffee is ready within ten minutes and then I’m out the door; time to pick Dean up and deliver him to the meal center for his community service duties. The water leak under my sink forgotten.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As soon as the door opens, I know something is wrong. I can’t explain it, everything looks normal but my conscious is telling me something is off. I sit my purse and keys on the table by the door and walk down the hall toward the kitchen. As soon as I flip the switch I see it. The kitchen floor is covered with water.
Tumblr media
At least two inches of water just streaming across the room. At first, I don’t understand where it all is coming from; did I leave the faucet on this morning? Was I still half-asleep this morning that I walked out the door with the tap running? But no, I look at the sink and it’s off. Then I remember the drip. I wade through to the basin and open the door. The bucket I had placed there is overflowing and the small drip is now a busted water pipe. Water is spewing, soaking the inside of the cabinet and everything inside.
Tumblr media
I carefully rush back to the front of the house and grab my cell out of my purse. I pull up Dean’s information and hit the green phone icon.
“Go for Dean.”
“Hey, uh it’s me,” I chuckle. Of course he knows it’s me. “Could you come over. I seem to have a little problem.”
“Sure sweetheart. Be there in 5.”
“Thanks Dean! See ya.”
Dean walks in and yells for me. I yell back, telling him I’m in the kitchen. As soon as he makes the threshold, he stops and starts laughing. I’m on my knees, trying to figure out how to turn the water off and now I am drenched.
“What’s going on?” he asks once he controls his laughter.
“Oh I decided to bake a cake. Wanna help?” I sass his dumb question. “I’m looking for a cut off valve or something.”
Dean trudges through the flood and squats beside me. “What you’re looking for isn’t in there. This is a old house, they didn’t think practicality when it was built.”
“What am I going to do?” I ask, exasperated and irritated.
“We’ll gonna have to turn the water off at the meter. Means no water in the house at all.”
“Great! No shower, can’t brush my teeth. Oh god, no coffee in the morning.” I say as I realize just how dire the situation is. “Can I call off work tomorrow?” I ask, trying to imitate the signature Sam Winchester puppy eyes.
Dean laughs as he stands. “What you’re going to do while I go outside and turn your water off is go pack a bag. You can stay with me and then tomorrow we’ll get someone over here to fix this AND put a cutoff valve under here for you.”
“Thanks Dean!” I jump up and hug him, soaking his clothes.
“Woman, look what you did. Now I’m all wet,” he yelps, pushing me away jokingly.
I come back from the bedroom with my packed bag of clothes and other necessities to grunts and groans coming from the kitchen. When I walk into the room, Dean has a mop and the previously overflowing bucket and is trying to mop up some of the water. I rush back upstairs to the bathroom and grab all the towels I own and go back, laying them down to help soak up the moisture.
An hour and four full buckets later, I close and lock up my door and follow Dean down the street to his apartment. I had been there quite a few times before, we are best friends after all so I knew it was just a one bedroom, one bathroom bonafide bachelor pad. The flat also offers a small kitchenette and a living room. Dean has this huge flat screen television mounted on the wall across from the seating area, where I have occasionally joined the Winchester brothers for movie nights.  Dean also has a massive stereo system. hooked up that I know has been the bane of many of his neighbors’ existence.
Tumblr media
“You can have my bed if you want,” Dean offers.
“No. I can’t do that. I won’t do that. I’m smaller. I can fit better on the sofa than you,” I explain. “You’re a giant!”
Dean chuckles and bends down, pulling the cushion off. Tugging on a hidden handle, the frame of the couch comes up and folds out into a bed. “I could make do.”
“No, I still won’t take your bed away from you.”
“Okay suit yourself,” he says, walking toward his room.
“Goodnight sweetheart.”
“Goodnight Dean.”
Staring up at the ceiling, I realize I’m not all that tired. I wonder if Dean is still awake. Sitting up I can see the light under his door. Rolling out of the sofabed, I quietly stroll to his door and knock on it.
“Come in.”
I open the door and Dean is lounging on his bed, a book in his lap and papers strewn about.
Tumblr media
“What’s up?” he asked, genuinely concerned.
“Not sleepy,” I answer, shrugging my shoulders.
“Yea, me neither. Was actually looking at the financials of the Bunker. But it’s boring,” he tells me, picking up the scattered paperwork. He sits the pile on his nightstand and pats the bed beside him. “Wanna talk for a while?”
I nod and walk to the bed, settling in beside him, our backs leaned against the headboard.
