Hi! I read your two posts of Kensei x Reader where S/O is Toshiro's older sister which those stories are really cute! If I can ask, maybe a story where S/O is waiting for Kensei's recovery, worrying a lot and her little brother Toshiro is comforting her? Maybe include when Kensei is recovered fully, S/O and Toshiro are both happy (as I feel like both Kensei and Toshiro would end up becoming friends by now), and it's a happy ending too. Hope this is ok! :D
It’s been a long time since I received your request. My apologies for letting you wait for long. Please enjoy the story, hope it please you.

Note: As I don’t one anyone pass away, so Captain Unohana is alive.
Tumblr media
In these peaceful days, it’s rare that there are harsh tasks which could lead to any serious loss. However, there is always an exception, the task Kensei took put him under serious injuries and must be strictly cared for by members of 4th squad. After hours of surgery, he was transferred to the recovery room where he is under critical care. No one is allowed to enter, so you can only see him through the window.
Day by day, you haven’t skipped a day to visit him. As a result, your brother must raise his voice.
“You're gonna collapse before he awakes.”
Toushirou stands next to you, crosses his arms and frowns his brows. The line between his eyebrows carved deeper as he sees your red eyes and tired face. He glances at the person resting in the room, and murmurs in his throat.
“Stupid…” - swiftly he turns to his sister - “Captain Unohana said he gotta be better soon.”
You acknowledge it but can’t give up the anxiety. Toushiro gives a long sigh, attempting to find the right words. Before he came, Rangiku had reminded him not to badmouth the patient, even though he didn’t like him.
“Captain Muguruma is not weak enough to be defeated by those injuries. It’s just… more than the last time…”
You stare at your brother. He turns away and clears his throat.
“… tomorrow he will… jump out of the bed and… do 100 pushups… maybe…”
Words come out awkwardly, but it brings a smile to your exhausted face as you see his flushing ears. It does not suit his normal personality, so your feeling is boosted up. You understand you have caused your brother to worry too much, which he had to make jokes against his character.
Not only are you tired of taking care of Kensei, but your brother is also tired of taking care of you. You hug him like old times and appreciate his awkward encouragement. So, you take a deep inhale and lighten your spirit. You glance at Kensei for the last time before you leave.
Toushiro approach the glass window, murmurs
“You better wake up soon, you cause such trouble thank to your recklessness.”
Then he follows you.
In the recovery room, Muguruma’s eyebrows knit together as if he heard someone criticizing him.
As Toushiro has said, members in 4th squad announce the healing process is nice but not yet awake, so Muguruma is transferred to a general room, and others can come and take care of him. Your distress just gets faded. Toushiro secretly exhales a sigh of relief, he can see your smile again then.
Since that day, you happily take care of him after work, sometimes Toushiro tags with you. You both talk to the unconscious patient as if he is listening. Someday, Mashiro and others in 9th Division stop by and are kicked out because of how loud they are, and Hisagi has to apologize to captain Unohana.
One day, when you come, you hear heavy huffing in the room. As the door opens, Muguruma is doing push-ups. You drop your stuff, not for excitement but worry.
“What are you doing? Back to your bed.” - shouted you.
Behind you, Toushiro pulls up a smirk and throws an insulting glance to the muscular man. Just as he said.
Muguruma frowns as being interrupted, he against:
“My muscles are tired of resting.”
“Shut up and go back to bed.” - you scold him.
He is still stubborn and proudly shows you his nicely healing wounds. Both of you throw words forth and back. A happy reunion becomes chaos. Even when he is against you, he is never harsh on you, not as he talks to others. Until you are out of breath for his muscle brain, he caresses your back to soothe your annoyance. He finally goes back to his bed as he can’t stand your sulking anymore.
“You wake up after all?” - Toushiro coldly voices. Muguruma glances at him and nods. “I told you not to worry much about him, his skin is thick and as well his brain.” - he mocks.
But Muguruma does not really care. He turns to you and sees the bag under your eyes, and you lose weight too as he carries up suddenly to measure. It causes you embarrassment. His expression gets unpleasant. Then, you carefully pat his arm, calm him down.
“I’m glad that you are awake.” - you smile at him, which sore him more. Because of his recklessness, you have to exhaust yourself.
Then, you leave to change the flowers and buy him something.
In the room, two men look at each other. Toushiro crosses his arms, glances at the other.
“Do you have any idea about what you caused?”
Muguruma groans, totally he acknowledges. Toushiro sighs, it is useless. Not only him, but all the soul reapers are going to be in danger or have brutal injuries. No one can avoid it. Toushiro had experienced this before. That time, his sister had cried out of eyes and burst into happiness as he regained consciousness.
“You should be careful. Or next time, I won’t hand her to you.”
“You threaten me?” - Muguruma raises his eyebrow, but looking at his stern expression, he is not joking - “… can’t help.”
Toushiro sighs, he gets the point.
“At least come back and see her.”
“…” - Muguruma nods
Another silence gap.
“…” - Muguruma doubts his thoughts, but he still spits out - “when I was unconscious, I heard someone grumble into my ears.”
“…”
“It was not her,” - after years being with his partner - “she nags whenever I get injured, but no hate in her words. But this one… if I could, I would punch them.”
Toushiro smirks, as if you dare. He always left after his sister, so he took some minutes to give this rock head kinds of words.
“They always told me to wake up at the end, someone waiting.”
Toushiro keeps silent. He glances at Muguruma, all the way he talks, the pair of brown eyes put on him. It seems there are not only muscles in his brain. However, Toushiro doesn’t commit, neither argue.
You come back at the moment when everything is not comfortable between your brother and your man. Their relationship is not quite good. Toushiro always mocks Muguruma’s aggressive attitude.
“You should thank her a lot.” - Toushiro says - “the only person who can stand your recklessness.”
Again they are, you sigh.
“Because she’s stubborn.” - Muguruma replies.
“Uhm”
You have no idea why the rest of their conversation is about you, mocking and praising combined. But, you are absolutely delighted that they can throw words back and forth.
“Any funny?”
Their words just sync, you have no choice but laugh. They smack their tongue at the same time.

Touken Ranbu ONLINE Account Comparison
I’ll gradually update this as I get more stuff for JP, but here goes:
EN server:
Starter: Kasen Kanesada
First Tanto: Akita Toushiro
First 3:20 Sword: Uguisumaru
JP server:
Starter: Kashuu Kiyomitsu
First Tanto: Gotou Toushiro
First 3:20 Sword: Hizamaru
So, starting off with about the same for a starter (I appreciate both their needs for beauty), but a slightly less rare 3:20 tachi and more rare (in my eyes, anyways) tanto.
(For comparison, Gotou didn’t come home until December 4 on EN, almost a month after I’d started playing, and Hizamaru came home 5 days after I started, so on November 17)

🌼🌸 anon here to make your day a bit sweeter !! you're an amazing person and i hope you've had an amazing start of the week. now, onto some nosy questions: where do you get your inspiration for your character(s) from? are there specific types of medias that have influenced the way you write or maybe even specific writers (maybe even from the rpc)? anyways, i hope your week continues to be sweet and amazing because the best of the best is what you deserve, dear friend !!
Tumblr media
Hewwo, Anony!! - Nice to see you again!! Things have been going alright, i guess. -- I'm still alive, so there's that. Hope your week has started grand!! As for your questions, a lot of things tend to inspire me. Video games, things related to horror elements. E.T.C. I want to implement more of that in my writing soon. The way i write is just a natural thing when i get in my Toushiro headspace. He's serious all the time, therefore I try to insert that mature seriousness in the way i describe actions and thoughts. Still struggling with dialogue, however, but Shhhh. -Specific writers? I don't really read novels or anything -- so none of that - But there are a lot of ppl in the Rpc who influences me - who keeps me wanting to write. It's such a big list, though, that i can't really name any. But to those who take the time to read this ask - If we're friends or partners -- know that you're a big inspiration to me and my writing. I appreciate my friends so much. They're the ones who deserve nothing but the best in their lives. Just as you do, Anony.

15, 16 and 21 (which real life actors/celebrities would you have play these characters if there was a live action Bleach movie in soul society?) For Momo and Toushiro :)
Character Ask meme
Tumblr media
So again one of my answers ended up being long, so they're below the cut:
15- Favourite line of theirs?
Momo: "I've come to this battlefield as the Fifth Division Lieutenant. I bear the adjutant's plate upon my arm. But what that signifies is that I am here as 'the officer responsible for the Fifth Division'. Not as 'Captain Aizen's subordinate'. That man is now the enemy of Soul Society."
Toshiro: "As long as I can strike you down, I would gladly abandon my status as captain right here and now!"
16- What do you think would improve this character? Like, character-arc wise?
I don't generally like to say how I would improve a story or character arc as I'm not sure what the creator went through while creating their work, and I will also preface this by saying this my personal opinion, so if you don't agree with anything I'll write that's totally fine.
In short for both of them: MORE SCREENTIME! Of course neither of them are main characters, so unless they're plot relevant we're not going to see them as much.
This definitely proved to be the case for Momo, who was a major character during the Soul Society arc after Aizen's 'death', but then lost relevancy to BLEACH's plot after he left for Hueco Mundo. She did show some agency by coming to the battle in Fake Karakura Town and even got to show off her proficency with kido, but the cynical part of me can't help but feel Kubo just ended up using her to get a reaction out of Toshiro. Because of limited screen time, we didn't see the full growth of her character as the series went on. For one thing, I would have loved to have seen her in battle more than once. She's a kido pro, but we only get to see her show her skills 3 times: against Tier's fraccion, against Tobiume and Haineko, and it's mentioned by Shinji that she's a pretty good healer. I wish we got to see more of that from her, see which kido spells she combines and how she uses them in battle!
I LOVE her implied arc, about recovery from trauma and how long it can take an individual to get back on their feet. Thing is though, the key word is implied. While I appreciate Kubo showing us that her recovery is slow, I really feel like her character arc would have been improved if we actually got to see her recovery after Aizen's defeat in the manga. Yes, it's fantastic to have that chapter with her and Shinji meeting and getting to know each other in the Death Save the Strawberry novel, I love that it was included and I love their dynamic. However, how did Momo reconcile with Izuru and Toshiro? How did she feel on her first day back as a lieutnenant? What was her reaction to Aizen being freed during the battle against the Quincy? It's such a shame we don't see any of this; on one hand it leaves us to come to our own conclusions/headcanons, but on the other nothing is concrete, we don't really know where Momo stands with some of her friends. We definitely see her worried and concerned for Toshiro in chapter 659, but am I the only one who thought we were going to get a flashback to show how she reconciled with him? I mean, I assume she did, and I assume their bond is still going strong, but I don't know if this is the case for Izuru or Renji, for example.
I'd probably need to think about it for a while more, but right now I think there isn't too much I'd change about the way Toshiro's arc played out. I hate seeing him suffer so much, but for me it makes the wins he gets all the more better, and it's again another demonstration of moving forward through and eventually moving past trauma. His minor arcs were ones about oneliness (seeking one's place in a world where you're different in one way or another from everyone else) and recovery from trauma, but his main arc (from how I read BLEACH) was about maturity. Him being a prodigy and the maturity he displays when performing his job and his usual stoic, cold demeanor likely gives many the impression he's mature beyond his years, but they forget he's still a youngster. His arc is made obvious by contrasting this seeming maturity with the occasional jokes about him still being mistaken for/thought of as being a child, him having an issue with his height, and also lacking emotional maturity as seen when he is quick to lash out blindly in dangerous situations when provoked. Aizen knew this about him and used it to his advantage, putting Momo in danger and harming her to get a reaction out Toshiro that would result in him being severely wounded every time they faced off. Momo basically sums it up in her monologue in the Zanpakuto Rebellion arc:
"I can't wait until I'm older. There's nothing great about being young. Being young means that you're still naive. That's why it feels like you're soaring in the sky or sinking beneath the ocean when someone you admire betrays you. Those emotions control your entire life and can make you lose sight of who you are. By growing older, your heart grows more experienced. You grow one step further away from being controlled by your feelings and are able to keep from soaring through the sky or sinking to the depths of the ocean. That's what it means to grow older."
However, Aizen initially underestimated Momo and Toshiro's bond, believing Momo would either kill to Toshiro or he would kill her. She wept and questioned Aizen's last wish while she was trying to attach Toshiro, which is somethign I'm sure Aizen didn't foresee happening. It shows Aizen thinks little of bonds, and then uses their bond as a weakness for Toshiro. But he's wrong...to an extent. When Toshiro's bond with Momo get threatened, it does indeed provoke him to act out in anger, a sign of his immaturity (even Kyouraku sees this when he advises Toshiro to remain calm while confronting Aizen). We see after Aizen's defeat that Toshiro is training to grow strong enough to protect Momo. While it's his bond that motivates him, it's will and commitment to become stronger for those he cares about is what gave him the new strength he wants to gain, not just the bond itself.
Through this, he achieves maturity in a very literal sense. Ignoring the potential fanservice-y elements of it, Kubo shows the completion of Toshiro's arc by making Toshiro literally mature with Hyourinmaru's perfected mature form. However, I do think we see his mental maturity as well before the end: in the few chapters before the matured form's reveal, where we see Toshiro making jokes about his height; it's another sign he's matured, able to make light of his height instead of being annoyed by it. A sign of his emotional maturity could be how easily he smiles in the last chapter; prior to this, it was rare for him to smile, and when he did it was often in private or with few people around. Him smiling in front of people he isn't close to is for me a sign of him having emotionally matured.
Was all of this because he achieved the mature form? I almost feel Kubo is saying 'yes' based on how Toshiro was before and after obtaining it.
I REALLY got off topic here! If I had to change anything about Toshiro's development/arcs: show his reconciliation with Momo and maybe a scene where he talks with Rangiku about how she's coping with Gin's death, I think it would have been a good extension of his minor arcs I mentioned above.
21- Wild card! Talk about anything to do with this character! Anything at all! (which real life actors/celebrities would you have play these characters if there was a live action Bleach movie in soul society?)
I don't think I can answer this one as I don't really know any Japanese actors or celebrities, sorry ^^; Will say though I really like both their seiyuu and voice actors in the anime!
Thanks for sending these in!

Blue Fire Tree
Prompt: Everlasting (last day omgggg) | Gift for @tinaillustrations ! Hope you like this fluffy piece! I enjoyed writing this one. 🤗| Happy HitsuHina Week! @hitsuhina-week 💛💙
“Fire trees should be blue not red,” Ichika mumbles while filling in the traced pattern of the tree on the canvass as Hinamori gathers her unruly red mane into a semblance of a bun. Her charge was a Shinigami apprentice and had the hodgepodge attitude of both of her parents. She was sarcastic, blunt, inquisitive, passionate, and kind.
Renji thought she was the best person to teach his daughter common spells to start off her training. Not that Hinamori disliked being the resident kido expert. She particularly loved the monicker, but there were times she felt she didn’t deserve the title. Like today when, for some other reason, Ichika and her was blindsided by arts and crafts.
“Wouldn’t you like the flowers to resemble your hair?” Hinamori clips the last of the strands and looks over the child’s shoulder. The colors spill out of the lines and the scenery seems to change from summer to winter.
“But blue is the hottest color. Imagine trees blooming with the brightest flames, the most intense warmth, and the most lasting flowers.” Ichika finishes the piece with a last dash of blue paint. The apprentice turns to her and asks, “Does it look so desolate?”
“No, not really. To me, winter has always been warm.“
Someone coughs behind them to get their attention. Hitsugaya Toushiro, captain of the 10th Division, stands awkwardly at the entrance of the dojo with a tray of tea and pot of biscuits. It doesn’t escape her notice that he used the tea set she gave last Christmas, and this observation makes her feel giddy inside.
Maybe I’m just appreciative of people who use my gifts, Hinamori justifies to herself.
“Hello, Captain Hitsugaya. Is that for us or for Vice-Captain Momo?” Ichika greets him as she takes the tray off his hands.
The blush creeps on the captain’s face just as quickly as his brows furrow in annoyance. He quickly glares at the mischievous remark of Ichika and redirects his gaze to his equally flustered childhood best friend. “This was not of my own good will. I was threatened by Byakuya to take good care of his precious niece, and it just so happens that this space is under my jurisdiction.”
Hinamori tilts her head in a slight apology. “I hope we don’t bother you too much. Would you like to join us for some art session? Ichika loves to paint today.”
He almost says something, but he stops himself. His stance goes from alert to rigid, and tension fills the air. “Maybe some other time.” Ichika glances from her current teacher to the captain and back to her teacher again.
“Oh, sorry for taking up your time.” Hinamori slightly bows, unsure of what transpired just now, and Hitsugaya nods in return. Before he is completely out of her sight, she calls out to him again.
“Shiro-chan?” He glances back at the sound of his nickname. “Thanks for the tea.”
He smiles in mild annoyance before he flash-steps out of their sight. “It’s Captain Hitsugaya to you.”
--------------------------
“Something’s bothering you,” Rangiku says to Hinamori as she slides beside her in the ramen booth. “Your treat in exchange for my wisdom.” She proceeds to order her usual ramen and sake combo.
“How was your trip to the Land of the Living?” Hinamori asks, obviously skirting the issue she wishes to raise.
“Kazui is subdued and gentle like his mother, but somehow, he manages to get into fights with bullies on the street. It’s his Ichigo genes.” The combo meal arrives along with two shot glasses. “How are you doing with the chaotic devil spawn Ichika?”
“She’s progressing really fast with the kido, but she gets so distracted easily. It’s cute though that Renji and Rukia are not pressuring her. Great parents. How nice it must be.”
Rangiku side-eyes her while slurping the thick noodles. “How nice what now – “
Hinamori plays with her empty bowl and fidgets with her chopsticks. “To not be alone.”
She chokes on her noodles and quickly downs half of the sake bottle. “Oh, this is great news! I have someone on my mind who would like to be in your company forever.”
Hinamori gives no response and instead continues fiddling with her bowl. “How nice it is to be also like Shiro-chan, content and busy enough to be single. How do I become like your captain, Rangiku?”
The smile fades from the woman’s face and is replaced by a bustling vein near her temple. “I’m sorry what did that short man do or say to you?”
“I asked him if he would like to do some art with us, you know, help me with babysitting for a few minutes, but he literally stiffened like a stick. Seems like he doesn’t want to waste time with kids or do any family-related activities. Or maybe he’s just too busy, captain duties and all.”
And yet he took the time to bring you tea, a voice screams inside her mind.
“That’s….rude,” an exasperated Rangiku remarks. She pours a glass for Hinamori and decides on a plan. “Unless you’re seeing him as….?”
“Huh? Oh no no no.” Hinamori downs the liquid in one gulp, suddenly embarrassed by her friend’s insinuation. “We’re just friends, childhood friends. I…don’t see Shiro-chan that way.”
“Sure, whatever you say Momo. Do you want me to introduce you to some people?”
Hinamori looks up at her, doe-eyed.
“I guess that’s a yes.”
--------------------------
Hinamori actually forgot about her request to Rangiku as she and her student started to settle in a rather serious kido training. The plan apparently was set to happen after a week when she came across a bulletin announcing her quest for a perfect match through a one-day interview application. This was the first time Hinamori wanted to be swallowed by the void and never return to Seiretei.
She finds herself visiting Division 10 HQ every afternoon but to no avail since coincidentally, Rangiku has some errands to do in Karakura, and won’t be back until the date of the interview. Or maybe it has also something to do with Hinamori avoiding Hitsugaya and having to do all the explaining. And so she had no choice but to wait for the inevitable day.
“Uhhh Vice-Captain Matsumoto, you said introduce, not organize a whole dating screening process!” Hinamori’s voice goes a pitch higher for each word, but Rangiku is too busy arranging the people lining up to notice her.
Her current captain, Shinji Hirako, chuckles beside the blondie, amused by the growing line of eligible Shinigami singles in their HQ. “You are quite the eye candy in our division, huh. Didn’t expect you’d have this many suitors.” He squeezes his vice-captain’s shoulder as form of reassurance. “You should have told me, Hinamori. I could have set you up in an arranged marriage.”
“Captain, that’s atrocious!” Hinamori protests. She walks over to Rangiku to disperse the line, but Yumichika and Ikkaku move to her side and grabs her midway through her litany of objections. They lead her to a makeshift container with two chairs facing each other and a table in between.
“This is ridiculous,” Hinamori mumbles her breath, her energy already defeated by the two dumbasses in front of her.
“Well to be fair, Hinamori, this is a long time coming,” Yumichika says.
“And the result necessitates this kind of method so stop mumbling and screen your admirers, babe,” Ikkaku supplies. Irritated, Hinamori chases them off with two fireballs.
The first ten Shinigami ‘applicants’ were too insufferable as they were clearly aiming for the prestige of her position.
“If dating a vice-captain would give me a higher seat in Gotei 13 then why am I still single?” she bats the question to the 11th person who sat across her. When they didn’t give her an answer, she sighs, “Next please.”
“Would you know what’s my favorite brand of tea?”
“Uhh, Robusta.”
“I believe that’s coffee. Next please.”
“Hello, vice-captain Hinamori, I brought you peaches. They’re my favorite.”
“I’m allergic to them. I’m sorry. Next please?”
“What are your strengths?”
“Well, I can do shunpo.”
“That’s basic Shinigami skills.”
“…………..”
“…………..”
“I’ll see myself out. Thank you for your time, vice-captain.”
“I know you’re traumatized by Aizen-“
The container collapses as Hinamori summons Tobiume.
--------------------------
“I think I will be forever alone.” Hinamori looks on as her fellow vice-captains clean up the mess she incurred over the unfinished statement earlier.
“I’m really sorry if I did the whole thing over the top,” Rangiku tells her sincerely. She hugs the raven-haired girl and waits in silent for the commotion to die down. “Though the last one was really foul, and you were valid to be angry.”
“I was afraid I’d burn down Captain Shinji’s quarters.”
“You can, just to piss him off. The whole process is so draining, huh?” Hinamori nods at the observation. Rangiku continues, seemingly voicing her own thoughts, “It’s hard to put yourself out there especially when they don’t know batshit about you. Would be easier if you have common interests or when they’re already your friend.”
The last phrase is said so pointedly that Hinamori’s mind automatically pictures Hitsugaya. She runs along with her imagination. How easy it would be indeed to spend the rest of her life with him. And as if her mind conjured him, the 10th Division Captain comes into view alongside Ichika. It looks like her student dragged him to the unfortunate event.
There’s an angry glint in his eyes that Hinamori noticed. It was the torn expression he wore when she wounded her knees back when they were kids, the same frown when she told him she would kill for the traitor, the same worried eyes when she almost died. But his eyes refuse to meet hers.
“You missed all the fun, Captain.” Rangiku stretches out her arms as she stands up. She gestures for the rest of their friends to come nearer so they could re-group and go home. “It was a bad plan, and I owe Hinamori one. So we’re kinda ready for your scolding.”
Hitsugaya stays silent throughout the shuffling of his fellow Shinigami, in fact he remains frozen for too long that Ichika elbows him to get a response out of him. “Come on, you ruminated one week for this, and I had to physically stop you from harassing the interested applicants.”
“Shut up, Ichika,” the silver-haired captain mutters.
“I’ll tell on you to Uncle Byakuya!” the redhead sticks out her tongue and runs over to the side of Rangiku.
More annoyed than ever, Hitsugaya grunts and storms off towards Hinamori. “I’m not here to scold anyone. I’m here for the….dating application,” he gulps amid the collective gasps that ran through the group and the muffled laughter of Rangiku who clearly foresaw this.
“Well, what can I say, but fucking finally!” The blonde swigs a new bottle of wine from inside her robes and goes to do a little crowd control.
Hinamori’s eyes get a little bit bigger, and she stares at him with mouth agape, but she lets him grab her hand, in a gentle manner that he usually does, and brings her to the farthest fire tree in the area.
“Shiro-chan, what did you mean……” She continues to stare at his hand who somehow refuses to let go of her yet.
Ironically, he is also staring at the same hand, unsure whether to let go right now before he can actually say something. “I don’t know why you had to go through all of that.”
“I’m..I’m still confused, to be honest. It was just a passing feeling of loneliness, and I rambled to Rangiku which she took seriously….” Hinamori knows she is starting to word vomit out of nervousness, but she halts when he finally lets her go. Maybe she has misunderstood his presence again.
Hitsugaya raises his palm to her. “Would you let me…uhhh…word vomit this time?”
She slowly nods, rather shocked at his insistence, and even more so when he chooses to ramble.
“Momo, I have a cold reiatsu. My touch is never warm. But I know you like green tea, steeped in warm water for exactly 10 minutes, and that you don’t put sugar. You are afraid of storms, and you need a blanket around you to calm down. You like watermelon, but I think it’s because I subjected you to multiple summers of conditioning. You’re my childhood best friend. You’re hardworking. You are a kido expert. You earned your right to be a vice-captain, and you’ll do greater things.
And I know it’s not enough to say that I know you, I’ve always known you, but will it be enough for you to allow me to stay beside you?”
Hinamori leans against the trunk of the fire tree, breathless from his train of words. “Oh my god, this is too overwhelming. I thought you hated being not single.”
“What?” Hitsugaya looks at her with a puzzled expression.
“You don’t like Ichika. Or doing art…with kids.”
“Well, Ichika is a brat to me, but she’s a good student and will be a good Shinigami like her parents.” He nurses his temples for the growing headache. “Momo, listen to me.” He steps closer to her and makes sure she’s only looking at him. “I panicked because I visualized you and me….and you know. It wasn’t right when I haven’t even told you anything yet.”
“Oh.” The moment of realization dawns on her. “Oh, that’s great.”
“So we can finally go back to how we were.” Hitsugaya lets out a shaky breath as he sits on the grass and watches as the red petals of the fire tree shower them lightly.
A blushing Hinamori crouches down to his level. “Well, not quite. You should know, Shiro-chan, your reiatsu has always been warm and comforting to me.” She reaches out to take his hand and intertwines their fingers.
Hitsugaya smiles as he silently thanks himself that he outgrew her by two inches so he could easily slip a kiss on her forehead. “It’s Captain Hitsugaya.”
--------------------------
Ichika tries to see beyond the wall of spectators but Rangiku is not letting anyone through. She huffs indignantly, wanting to know whether her incessant prodding and pestering of the oblivious Hitsugaya bore some fruit. She has no choice but to juice out all the details later on from her uncle.
On second thought, maybe she won’t have to. Blue petals swayed with the light breeze of the wind, and on the far edge of the Fifth Division’s HQ is a lone blue fire tree.

“Do you want to have ramen?”
Rating: T for Rangiku’s implications ;)

Prompts: Hitsuhina Week 2020 - Day 2 Reveal / AU
Author’s Note: My first submission for @hitsuhina-week ever! I always love writing AUs since Hitsuhina mainly suffer in canon :’(
This was inspired by the ramen scene in the K-drama Crash Landing Onto You! Also, I have been thinking about a College AU for Hitsuhina recently so this would be one scene of it! I hope you enjoy!

Toushiro looked at the clock again for what seemed like the fifth time. Where is she? He busied himself his apartment, fiddling with the sparse furniture, but everything was already orderly and in place. Toushiro had already spent all day cleaning up to have his childhood friend, Momo, over. The two had just finished their first-year final exams yesterday and had not had the time to properly catch up yet.
He had offered to have her over for dinner—just instant ramen, Toushiro by no means was a chef. He also knew that since he lived alone they could have more freedom than if they hung out than at her 2-bedroom apartment with Momo’s roommate around. Not that they were going to be loud or rowdy—unlike Toushiro’s neighbor, Rangiku Matsumoto.
Earlier that evening. the second year had brought it upon herself earlier to loudly knock on his door, demanding to borrow a broom for herself.
“Oh, someone’s cleaning up?” Rangiku smiled cheekily. “Are you having anyone over?”
“It’s just Hinamori.” He thrusted the broom into her hands and responded curtly, “Now take this and go before she gets here.”
“Really? I want to see Hinamori-chan too!” The blonde girl stepped inside. “Maybe I should stay too!”
“No!” The word left Hitsugaya’s mouth before he could stop himself and he could feel his ears go hot. He was eager to see Momo but didn’t want his neighbor to know that. “We’re just eating ramen, so there won’t be enough…” he said as he attempted to compose himself.
Rangiku smiled knowingly, “Relax Captain, I wasn’t planning on it…especially if you’re going to have ramen. There’s no room for more than 2 people in that,” she replied cheekily, her voice dripping with implications.
Toushiro narrowed his eyes in skepticism, not liking the tone of her voice. “What are you talking about Matsumoto?”
Her blue eyes filled mirth, happy to see the confusion on his face. “Do you not know what ‘having ramen’ means Captain? And I thought you were a genius!”
Toushiro scowled at the comment, clearly not happy to be ignorant—even if it was something Rangiku knew. “What do you mean?”
And so, she explained, laughing as the white-haired boys face turn redder and redder. All this new information left Toushiro flustered and he hastily pushed Matsumoto out of the apartment, still undeterred in her laughter at his embarrassment.
Since then, Toushiro had occupied himself with cleaning up the living room and setting up the kotatsu as a way to firmly forget that conversation. It annoyed him that he had no idea of such a concept—and if he didn’t know, Momo definitely didn’t know.
It wasn’t that he didn’t have feelings for his childhood friend—he had realized for several years how he felt about the sweet brown eyed girl. But Momo didn’t know and he valued their friendship too much to jeopardize it by letting her know. Toushiro knew how much Momo relied on his presence in her life, especially after what happened to her in high school, and he couldn’t risk being anything more the friend that she needed.
A knock erupted his thoughts (though much softer) and Toushiro opened the door to a pair of arms and paper bag in his face. “Ahh Hitsugaya-kun!” came the muffled voice of his childhood friend, “it’s going to fall!” He quickly grabbed the bag right as it tipped into forward towards him. “Hinamori! Did you buy the whole grocery store?” He inspected its contents and saw she had brought vegetables, meat, and tofu—basically everything but the ramen noodles which he had offered.
Momo laughed as she took off her shoes. “Well, we just finished finals and I know you wouldn’t have much groceries inside so I decided to stop by and pick up some ingredients as well as,” she held up a plastic bag that was hanging on the crook of her elbow, “some celebratory drinks!”
Toushiro raised his eyebrow. “Isn’t this a bit much Hinamori? I thought we were just eating ramen?”
He followed her into his kitchenette and set down the ingredients as she scrummaged through the drawers for a bottle opener. “Hitsugaya-kun, we just finished our exams of our first semester of college! We must celebrate it fully!” For further emphasis, she poured two shots and held one out to him. Toushiro took it with a skeptical glance at his childhood friend. “Hinamori, you don’t even drink that much…” Her tolerance was abysmally low and any full drink would knock her out completely.
“I know, I know! But I wanted to really celebrate tonight!” She leaned herself against the kitchen counter. “I also wanted to thank you for helping me study for my exam, even when you had your own exams to study for.” Momo looked at him through her eyelashes, her brown eyes gleaming. “Thank you, Hitsugaya-kun. I really appreciated it.”
Toushiro could feel his ears go red and he looked away. “It was no problem.” He could never turn away that look of her hers: her soft smile and warm eyes. For years, though she may know it or not, whenever Momo gazed at him like that, Toushiro could feel his will breaking.
That’s how he helped her study: with her knocking on his door with a pleading look in her eyes and her textbooks clutched to her chest, there was no way he could say no. Not that he would have; Hinamori had helped him in countless ways, though she may have not realized it, just by simply being her cheerful self. She was selfless, kind and always put others, like him, above herself—a trait he initially found annoying but later on an endearing quality that made him want to protect her more.
That’s why he took the shot still extended out towards him, though hesitant he could see the anticipated gleam in her eyes. “To the end of finals…” Toushiro said weakly though it didn’t stop Momo from cheering loudly before taking her own. He eyed her as he drank his, albeit not as quick since he was fully aware of his tolerance to alcohol, not as low as Hinamori but definitely not high.
Momo let out a sigh of content. “Let’s get started shall we!”
---
Though the two were tired from just finishing a week of finals, all the fatigue seemed to wear away as they moved around the kitchen. Toushiro was by far not a great cook and only ate what required the minimal cooking. He could only shrug his shoulders as Momo threw a disapproving look over her shoulder at his empty fridge before placing some of the ingredients inside. She moved around with an ease, taking out the pots and pans to prepare the ingredients for ramen without hesitation—almost as if she lived there, which Toushiro rather liked.
They fell in a comfortable rhythm of light conversation in between the chops of vegetable and the pan sizzle of meat. From plans for the holiday to news about classmates, all the conversation fell neatly in between light jokes and the appetizing aroma of a long-awaited home cooked meal. Toushiro made sure to keep an eye on Momo as she was intermittently taking shots in while adding the chopped cabbage and beef to the pot. He debated moving the knives away as she started to accidently spill things, almost knocking the whole bottle of soy sauce into the pan. While Momo wasn’t looking, he moved the sake bottle out of her sight, hoping she’d think she had misplaced it.
“Ahh it looks so delicious!” Momo squealed as Toushiro cracked the last ingredients of eggs to the pot. “I can’t wait to eat it!” She moved closer to catch a whiff, almost moving in front of the pot but Toushiro caught her shoulders and pulled her back. “Be careful Hinamori! It’s still boiling!”
She furrowed her eyebrows and craned her neck up at him, “Hitsugaya-kun, I wasn’t going to actually put my face in. You know I am older than you, right?”
Toushiro didn’t want to take chances as he could see the glazed look starting to form over her brown eyes. “Yes, I know Hinamori,” he acquiesced, “and as the older one you can go set up the table to eat. I’ll bring the food over.” He could hear her mumbling to himself “now he’s kicking me out” but she obliged anyway, taking the plates and turning on the TV to a random late-night movie.
Toushiro brought out the pot of instant ramen—though it could hardly just be called instant anymore. The childhood friends had elevated it to a new level, at Momo’s insistence, with semi-boiled eggs, spinach, rice cakes, beef slices and thinly shredded green onions. Though Toushiro was displeased to see that Momo had found the sake bottle and had generously poured herself some more shots for two of them, he was happy to see her taking in a whole serving of food into her bowl.
The two fell quiet as they ate with gusto, now realizing how hungry they were. With the warmth of the kotatsu table, the white light of the TV and the filtered moonlight through the blinds, the tranquility of the moment allowed them to truly relish their food..
“Thank you for having me over, Hitsugaya-kun,” Momo said as she put her chopsticks over bowl. “I really enjoyed cooking with you today.” She smiled appreciatively, though Toushiro could still see a hint of fatigue in her face.
“I should thank you for going shopping for more ingredients. I was only planning to follow the instructions on the back of the packet.” He took a drink from his glass of water but stopped as he remembered. “Which by the way, let me know how much the bill was so I can pay you back for half.”
Momo waved her hand dismissively as she took another sip of the sake. “Don’t worry about that! You do so much for be, it’s the least I can do.”
He held her gaze. “Well, at least next time we do this, let me pay for the ingredients. It’s the least I can do since you cooked most of it.”
Momo laughed. “Shiro-chan, you really don’t give yourself enough credit. But, if you insist, then it’s fine.” She rested her chin on her hand as she yawned sleepily. “Guys just don’t think about this stuff normally. Like when I had ramen with Abarai-kun and Kira-kun—they didn’t even think about buying eggs!” she giggled.
At the back of Toushiro’s mind, he could hear Rangiku’s words from earlier on, and he felt a twinge of envy.
He cleared his throat. “Hinamori...you should be careful not to ask anyone else to have ramen with you.”
Momo’s bottom lip stuck out as she pouted in confusion, “But why Shiro-chan?”
Toushiro ignored the nickname, not wanting to derail from the point he was trying to make. “Because it has implications..”
“What kind of implications?”
Toushiro could feel his ears heat up. “Of more than just eating ramen.”
The brunette tilted her head in confusion. “I don’t understand…what else does ‘eating ramen’ mean besides eating ramen?”
He sighed in exasperation. “It’s more of the activity that follows after…”
“Like what?” Honestly, this girl was too clueless for her own good.
“When one finishes the ramen…they usually stay the night…” He left out the last part hoping she would understand.
“And sleep?”
Toushiro wanted to bang his head on the table. Now, he wished Rangiku was hear to explain. “But not of the sleeping kind.”
There was a pregnant pause before Momo erupted in sleepy giggles. “Shiro-chan, I don’t think that’s always the case. Friends can have ramen together! I think Rangiku-san has been giving you too many ideas.”
He made a sound of protest, almost knocking over his bowl of ramen. “She does not give me ideas!”
“Like you and I! Aren’t we just friends having ramen?” A few moments ticked by where they stared at each other until her voice turned somber. “Unless, is there something else going on, Shiro-chan?”
At that point he didn’t know what to do. The TV noise fell to a background static and thoughts raced through his mind. He didn’t want her to have any ramen with anyone else, well, because he wanted her.
“Hinamori I—”
Her head fell against the side of the couch, eyes already closed in sleep. Toushiro almost had to stop himself from slamming his head on the table and settled in heaving a huge sigh of disbelief. Of all the times she had to pass out. After gathering his wits together, he cleared the table and turned down the volume of the TV, not wanting to disturb her. Toushiro quietly stood up and moved over to Hinamori’s side, placing one arm behind her back and another under knees. Her head lolled to one side against his shoulder and he could feel soft puffs of air against his neck, sending heat up the back of his neck.
Toushiro carefully moved to his bedroom and placed her down, making sure to prop her head up on the pillow and cover her with a blanket. Knowing Momo, she was going to be knocked out the rest of the night and in no shape to go home; Toushiro just hoped that she would sleep through and forget the last part of their conversation.
For now, he’ll blame Matsumoto for putting these ideas in his head and hope that in the meantime, Momo wouldn’t have ramen with anyone else but him.

Authors Note: I did a little research and it seems the “having someone over for ramen” is prevalent in South Korean culture. However! When I watched Naruto: The Last, the girls would always giggle whenever Naruto would ask Hinata over for ramen so I assume in Japanese culture, there is probably similar implications! If anyone knows, please let me know! I mainly enjoy putting Toushiro in a difficult position as secretly-in-love-with-their-childhood-friend and never able to do anything about it haha
Hope you enjoyed! :)

Note
Get to know your author: favorite book, favorite film, first fandom. First hardcore ship. Current ships, top 5 shows. Cat or dog person? :)
Huh. Interesting questions. And you asked some pretty hard ones…
Sorry, I can’t just choose one. Even my most consistent favorites (with anime as an exception) change every few years or so, and usually it has to be organized by genre, and when I saw it, and so forth.
Sorry for those rules, but, they’re necessary for this kind of breakdown.
Okay.
I’m also going to provide the links to each title through Amazon so that people can read samples and/or meander through the sales pages. Just for kicks.
Novels I Love  [ No Particular Order ]
The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling
The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt
A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
The Giver by Lois Lowry
Eragon by Christopher Paolini - (Going to be rereading this soon, actually).
Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff
The Narrow Road to the Deep North by Richard Flanagan
On The Road by Jack Kerouac
The Cuckoo’s Calling by Robert Galbraith
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
Atonement by Ian McEwan
Nutshell by Ian McEwan
Legend by Marie Lu
SIDENOTE: I recommend the masterful Redwall series by Brian Jacques to just about anyone. Disregard the fact that they’re animal fiction. Honestly, they opened my world to literature and fantasy when I was very young, and I looked up to Jacques’ writing style (along with Paolini) for the majority of my childhood until I grew into my own.
Okay. Now, favorite movies?
I love movies as much as I love books. I live for film critique and extensive analysis in just about anything I watch, so this opinion is even picker by comparison. I’ll just stick to… a handful, that I’ve loved over the last few years. I could break them down into various lists but that would take too long.
I’m also taking my anime/animated favorites out of this list since I already posted one earlier… and it would be too hard to sort through it and find ones I would pick over others. It’s just in a league of its own, in all honesty.
I will also post a list with my favorite animated films separately from this because those are just… very special to me, and I don’t think about them in the same way as I do with live-action films. So both anime and animated will be left out of this.
Alright. So.
This list is gonna be long… sorry about that.
Movies I Love [ No Particular Order ]
The Godfather (Part I and II)
Citizen Kane
Baby Driver
Mad Max: Fury Road
The Last of the Mohicans
Amadeus
The Babadook
Silver Linings Playbook
Ida
Amour
Moonlight
Gladiator
Rear Window
Vertigo
Wonder Woman
The Dark Knight
Shaun of the Dead
Tim’s Vermeer - [ Documentary - highly recommend to anyone who appreciates art in any way, shape or form ]
Spotlight
I have so many more I could put on here, but… those are what popped into mind and I could write essays on why I adore each and every one. They’re all worth the look. Please watch them if you haven’t.
I think I’ll list Amadeus as my favorite, if I had to choose… it’s the most inspiring, masterfully crafted homage to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart I have ever seen, and the acting, writing, and overall fantastic production design and story are all phenomenal. One of the best films ever made, and I recommend it to every single person I know at some point.
My first fandom?
Um… I believe it was Bleach? Man, those were the days. Haha. Yeah, I think it was Bleach. I really loved that anime and it was part of the “gateway” fandom experience for me, and was the first anime I really got into aside from, you know, classic childhood favorites like Pokémon.
I still enjoy the first two seasons quite a bit, and Rukia Kuchiki was my favorite female character in anything for a good while.
My first hardcore ship?
Haha. Um. Speaking of Bleach… my first hardcore ship was a crack pairing (I liked a lot of crack pairings in high school). Hitsugaya Toushiro/Rukia Kuchiki, otherwise known collectively as HitsuRuki, was my ultimate OTP for the longest time.
This ship, clearly, still has a place in my heart, but because I’ve definitely lost all interest in Bleach at this point, the ship suffers. Oh well. It was great while it lasted and it drew me into a fandom.
My current ships?
My permanent favorite OTP is Gon Freecss/Killua Zoldyck, otherwise known as KilluGon, from Hunter x Hunter, and I also really, really love Katsuki Bakugou/Izuku Midoriya - otherwise known as KatsuDeku / BakuDeku - from Boku no Hero Academia.
So, yep. Those are my ships.
My top five shows? Haha, this is way, way easier to answer… I’m so much pickier with shows and trying them out in comparison to books and movies. (I’m a very picky person in general but it fluctuates depending on the medium).
I’ll include anime in this one.
My Top Five Favorite Television Shows
Breaking Bad
Hunter x Hunter
Game of Thrones
Westworld
Avatar: The Last Airbender
Haha, and now, the ultimate question of all…
Am I a dog or cat person?
I like… BOTH.
But for different reasons! I love cats and I love dogs. But, I mean, mostly big dogs, and I’m not really a fan of small dogs… they’re yippy and annoying.
Big dogs like to tackle me to the ground though, so that’s kind of frightening, even though I love them and cats seem to resent me wherever I go. I can bear the one-sided affection though because I appreciate them.
Thanks for the fun asks, Anon!
