my own personal gra’ha tia story as someone who doesnt play ffxiv and could maybe name like five characters at most, him included, is that someone i used to be mutuals with suddenly started posting like, a TON of WOL/gra’ha tia smut on ao3 so i got curious and skimmed it without even knowing what he looks like. and yknow, he talks like an old man. so i had this kind of dignified image in my head, and then like two years pass and i finally see a picture of him on my dash and he’s a fucking twink catboy i was so mad why does he talk like that

I was looking through old family photos while at my parents' place today and it got me thinking about my youth and how messed up my self-esteem was/still is. I was so cute but didn't feel like I was worth anything! :( I wish I could hug younger me.

Cooper shoots a glance at the cloak, and there's something ravenous in her gaze. "It's very old. There are ancient crafters in the Far Weald who can spin things out of the primordial essences of the world, they become heirlooms for important families or factions there. That's the mantle of a forest warden--a powerful league of dryads--and it's probably smarter than both of us. Treat it well and it'll protect you in ways neither of us could guess. I'd kill to study it. I've never seen anything like it up close."

"And the mark?" you ask, rubbing your wrist nervously.

"Means you're royalty. Sort of. Maybe more like a knight. You've been adopted by the forest warden dryads. You get to enjoy all the boons and bullshit that comes with having a title. It might interact with your mantle, old magic loves to be friends with old magic. Congratulations, love," her tone suggests there's more bullshit than boon that comes along with this. "On the bright side, it means you're protected by Far Weald laws. If you ever get neck-deep in the shit... they at least can't kill you outright. They'll have to resort to trickery to do away with you."

You can't decide if that's comforting or not.
