John finally accepting that he likes men and then immediately getting hit with the realization he hasn't really wooed anyone since he was like, 16.

What's he going to do, give his nonexistent jersey to Bob during nonexistent spirit week? Say "This one's for you" before going into battle? Bring flowers to training like he used to bring them to study sessions? Does Bob even like flowers? Do grown men give each other flowers?

He grew up with Olivia. They'd been together for years. Impressing her probably felt easy after a while— maybe too easy now that he's looking back on it, which definitely haunts him, but I digress— this is a whole different beast. Everything he thinks up, he immediately thinks better of/can't bring himself to do because it feels ridiculous, and eventually he comes to the very unnerving and frustrating conclusion that he'll simply have to be himself and hope Bob takes interest. What an absolute pain in the ass.
