Sometimes I wonder if snow has a lot of significance in ToG.

About Horyang (Ilmar): during his backstory, after becoming the devil's right arm, we see he's being transported somewhere unknown. When I was reading this part, I remember it felt like Horyang was being transported to either be discarded/ destroyed, or sold to someone because the Workshop was done with him. Anyway Headon appears, the transport driver is shocked, Horyang is taken by Headon, and that's how Horyang ended up climbing the Tower. (S2 chapter 42).

The place Horyang was being transported to was over a body of water, and it was snowing. Horyang stated that it was his first snow back then, and that he thought it was beautiful. In the distance, there seems to be a fuzzy silhouette of maybe a giant tree or multiple trees.

About Wangnan: there's a scene (S2 chapter 230) where Wangnan tells Miseng that he was born in a cold place, and the Hell Train's cold climate is easy for him to deal with.

About Arlene: we learn in season 3 that Arlene has stayed at a place called Seolhyangwon that has eternal snow within it (S3 chapter 132).

What if all three of these mentions of snow and the cold are connected? Maybe it's a coincidence that they all have something to do with cold weather (and the possible tree silhouette in Horyang's flashback and Seolhyangwon is a coincidence too), but I have a hard time ignoring coincidences in this story 😅 Hopefully we get to see more Arlene/ Bam/ V/ Jahad/ Wangnan lore in the upcoming arc

Karaka the piece of 'heart' or 'defense' or 'revenge'#the Bosses are other pieces #etc etc #and it was all because Jahad couldn't have children so he had to experiement with the Workshop or something #and the Red Light District was burnt to the ground because of covering things up yadayada #Wangnan and the other princes are seeds that are connected to the Workshop (cough plant and machine??)#and like. a place where people hide or are discarded at is a place of eternal snow and trees #a place where Horyang was planned to be discarded at. Wangnan was born. and where Arlene hid.#not sure where my brain is going with this. goodbye!!

#i could talk for 8 years about the last two bc the first two are straightforward. the LAST two are really interesting #basically:#crystal healer is a song abt finding comfort in smth u know isnt REALLY true & it basically pretends that its in the relative minor #by putting the vi chord at the beginnings of phrases. but its actually in major #and it also has the plagual cadence twice on 'there is no wound so deep/that it eludes our prayer'#(which is when it assumes the voice of the crystal sellers)#but bc thats only part of what the crystal sellers are saying; bc theyre not finished yet: its ALSO lying about the PLAGUAL cadence #bc it hasnt actually resolved yet! it resolves to a V on 'hold this moonstone to ur heart & be repaired/be repaired'#and then true trans soul rebel the plagual cadence happens on the lines 'does god bless your transsexual heart?/true trans soul rebel'#and how it works is it goes to the IV of the plagual cadence on 'heart' in this line ABOUT GOD #and sits on that IV for a while at the end of this line that ends w a question mark #and then finally resolves to the I (major one) chord at the beginning of the next line #which is fucking fascinating #anyway its so cool #ari opinion hour
