Book Recs
(because why not?)
The Invisible Life Of Addie LaRue By V. E. Schwab
Addie makes a desperate deal with a mysterious god asking for freedom and time, but you should never make a deal with the gods that answer after dark. The god grants her immortality, but also grants her his version of freedom: no one can remember her once she leaves their sight. One day she meets a boy that remembers.
Beautiful writing, compelling story, craftiness, honest characters- I could go on forever. This is probably my favorite book ever.
The Starless Sea By Erin Morgenstern
Zachary Ezra Rawlins discovers a strange book full of stories of tongueless acolytes, key keepers and guardians in a place called the starless sea, that somehow also has a story of him as a child. The book pulls him into the world of the starless sea, once a sanctuary for stories and storytellers, now in grave danger, on his quest to find his purpose.
Incredible fantasy mindfuck - one of those where you have to read it at least three times to fully understand it. Stories within stories, writing that’s somehow even more amazing than Addie LaRue, an incredibly built fantasy world.
Six Of Crows By Leigh Bardugo (duology)
The dregs is one of the most notorious gangs in ketterdam. Kaz Brekker is, in practice, their leader. He and his band of misfits - a sharpshooter, a leathal acrobat, a heartrenderer, an ex-convict, and a demolitions expert - take on an impossible heist for a hefty sum on money, but not everything is as it seems.
Six of crows takes place after the shadow and bone trilogy (which is good and you should probably read first) but in my opinion it’s way better. Soc has tons of representation (I tried writing everything out but it got too long), a perfect balance of angst, romance, and wit, a great plot, some great pining and is just overall a really fun read.
The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo By Taylor Jenkins Reid
When retired star actress Evelyn Hugo offers an interview to nobody reporter Monique, the last thing she is expecting is for Evelyn to ask her to write a book. Not just any book, but the story of Evelyn’s life - all seven husbands, and the answer to the question everyone is asking. Who was the love of Evelyn’s life?
Okay this one actually isn’t fantasy, it’s historical fiction. I could. Not. Put. It. Down. The story is incredible and compelling, of course, but Evelyn also gives Monique (and the reader) bits of wisdom throughout the whole thing. If I’m being completely honest, Evelyn’s advice changed the way I see both myself and the people around me.
I have more (and some that aren’t on booktok) but that’s all I’m putting here for now :)

Lil Guys - The Masterpost
As none of you may know, my mother and I have a category we have used for a long time to distinguish our favorite male actors/fictional characters. This is what we like to call, a Lil Guy.
Lil Guy - Definition
A male person or fictional character that is extremely capable/talented at chosen occupation, often extremely intelligent, witty (though it may be unintentional), with either an oblivious or childlike nature. They can be hardened by war, thousands of years old, or extremely rough edged, but through it all retain a child like obliviousness or childlike wonder that rounds them out. Most of the time they are socially awkward and are either painfully aware of it or painfully unaware of it. Their are rare cases in which Lil’ Guys are charismatic, but it has to be balanced out with some type of whimsy or quirk.

Who are your favourite characters and ships from Bones?
Why?
My biggest ship from Bones is obviously Bones and Booth - but as I do my big rewatch, I really wish that when Booth and Bones has separated in season 10 that it had been for longer, and maybe had more of an impact? I loved the way they dance around each other, and actually listened to each other. Season 2 is the best - hello BONES AND HODGINS GETTING BURIED ALIVE??
I also love Angela and Hodgins! Angela is the best friend everyone deserves, and Hodgins is the type of co-worker we all dream about. Also, Hodgins can act!
Those are my two big ships, but my list of favourite character is a little bit longer!
Lance Sweets - he may be one of my all time favourite characters, John Francis Daley was so boyishly charming, and I loved how he cared about Booth and Brennan so much.
Caroline Julien - Cherie, she was perfection!
Wendell Bray - he was my favourite squintern, and was loved by both Booth and Bones.
James Aubrey - he was a sweet little addition.
Zachary Uriah Addy - an absolute nutcase.
Vincent Nigel-Murray - RIP you little T-REX.
Dr. Gordon Wyatt - I mean, who doesn't love Stephen Fry?

My favourite book/movie boys in no particular order:
Yes I think almost all of them are black haired or sarcastic
Zachary Goode from the Gallagher Girls series
Spy. Sarcastic. Intelligent. Some rivalry, enemies to lovers vibe. Immaculate. You can tick the following boxes also: trauma in past, dark hair. The one who knows the MC the most but still gets surprised when the dumbass lands herself in dangerous situations.
Loki (not MCU version) in Runelight and The Gospel of Loki by Joanne Harris
If you liked the version of Loki in the Marvel Movies but you want more complex stories this is the one for you. It explores the world of norse mythologies and later on it is set in a different world. In Runelight the main character and Loki have the typical 'I can't trust you but I'm forced to' vibes. Oh and runes, magic, underworld, scheming.
Regulus Black
Refer to my post here. Still can't find good fanfictions about him.
Ash from The Iron King series by Julie Kagawa
If you liked the Cruel Prince this book is the father of it in my opinion. Enemies to lovers. Ash is the son of Mab. The third book was my go to if I wanted to have a good cry. If you don't love the epilogue we can't be friends. The MC goes through realistic feelings so it won't annoy you. They struck a deal and you all know in a fairy settings deals mean a lot.
Percy Jackson
We all knew this was coming. He set my expectations unreasonibly high. Percabeth is a hill I'll die on defending it.
Young Tom Riddle
Well, I never told you there won't be toxic ass motherfuckers. Yes I have good recommendations that don't involve him going through some big character change. Manipulative, addictive, enemies to lovers. Another fic that was my go to when crying.
Grisam Burdock from Fairy Oak
The teen story we all needed but didn't get because it is a book suited for smaller children. Anyways. Perwinka and him set my expectations too high.
Robin de Noir from The Secret of Moonacre movie
Now this man. This. Motherfuckin. Man. Augustus Prew with coal under his eyes is everything. I know he is gay in real life but the tension between Maria and him... You have pretty castles, forests, bandits (he is one of them), an old ancient curse on the families in the valley. And I have the best fanfic recommendation. I need more people to gush over this with. The og enemies to lovers. Dark haired. Bad father, bad example, but in his heart he is good. This is my comfort movie.
Luc from The invisible life of Addie LaRue
A wild, dark god. Enemies. I know the book is slow, but if you are someone who likes that this book is for you. Don't expect him to be someone gentle, his nature refuses restrainment. Do not call on him in the night. If you like history and the joy of life this book is good for that.
Thomas Cresswell from Stalking Jack the Ripper
This man uses his brains and doesn't gaslight you. Accepting and sarcastic. England. Ofc he has secrets, and trauma who do you take me for? Someone who likes boys without trauma? And yes the MC's and his relationship is perfection. Slight rivalry I guess too? Slow burn like almost all books I read.
Gilbert Blythe from Anne of Green Gables
I know I already said og enemies to lovers but mutual pining after being school rivals for years?? Come on. Both the book and the 1985 movie version is chef's kiss. A proper gentleman who is not afraid to tease you and call you out on your bullshit. Nice dresses, nice scenery, nice friendship. Comfort movie yes.
Day from the Legend series
Enemies. To. Lovers. I have to capture you because you killed my brother. Amazing. Biggest crying sessions of my life. Good dynamics, the relationship does not just consist of being happy and having a few sad moments. THE LAST TWO CHAPTERS.
Honorable mentions:
Kaz Brekker (i like my man with a dose of trauma and slow burn or no touch yes) if you have long and good slow burn recs of kanej I am listening
Oliver Wood (the sportswoman in me is thrilled)
Fred Weasley (do I even have to explain? Refer to my masterlist here)
Aiden from Barbie
JUST BECAUSE I AM A CURIUS BISHH I AM TAGGING THESE LOVELY MUTUALS: @bubblegum-and-cherry and @slytherin-chaser no pressure just if you are up to it you can do this or not

Heey, hope you‘re having a good day! I don‘t know if you still wanna write for Bones characters or take requests at all haha
But I‘d loove some Zack Addy x reader one shot, where he asks reader out maybe. (There‘s nearly nothing to read with Zachary)
(Love the tooth gems btw)
Yo I’m so sorry! I’m the worst at checking my asks lmao.
I’m totally down to write for Zackaroni! I’ve been feeling a little more inspired recently so I’m hoping to out some content soon. I’ll start putting together ideas for a one shot and have it up soon for ya!
Also thank you so much! I still love them and they feel a lot less like braces now :-)

Here’s a thing I actually decided to do with my precious time
I made an Undertale AU where it’s all the characters from Bones (but that’s a whole other thing, don’t worry about that) then I applied UnderSwap logic to the original characters and made the resulting character hybrids in the Sims 4. Presenting BoneSwap!
(First names represent the character, last names represent which role they are filling.)
Tumblr media
That’s Seeley Brennan. He’s a forensic anthropologist and he has no discernible social skills. He is smart and adorable, though.
Tumblr media
Seeley with his wife, Temperance Booth. Temperance is an FBI special agent, and unlike her husband she is very friendly and outgoing and socially aware.
Tumblr media
Jack Sweets, FBI psychologist. Sort of a goofball. He loves Seeley and Temperance and just wants to help them out so they can be happy. They make fun of him sometimes though.
Tumblr media
Colin Montenegro, Seeley’s best friend. He’s a free-spirited painter and he has never been sad a day in his life.
Tumblr media
Lance Hodgins, another friend and coworker. He grew a beard so people would stop mistaking him for a twelve-year-old but it only kind of worked. Very kind and soft-spoken, but he also loves gross nature-y things.
Tumblr media
Arastoo Saroyan is everyone’s boss. He’s actually really cool but sometimes he has to put his foot down and scold someone. Sorry he looks so wonky, I couldn’t get a good screenshot.
Tumblr media
Daisy Addy used to be Seeley’s assistant, but then she went mad and had to be institutionalized. Before that happened, she lived with Lance and they were planning to get married.
Tumblr media
Dr. Wendell Edison is one of Seeley’s interns. He is very professional (that’s a nice way of saying “high-strung”) and gets very uncomfortable whenever anyone talks about personal matters.
Tumblr media
Clark Bray, another intern. He is much more laid-back than Wendell. He’s smart and had to work hard to get where he is now, but he also knows how to bro out and have fun.
Tumblr media
Camille Vaziri, yet another intern and also Arastoo’s girlfriend. She is a shy and sweet expat (idk from what country, but she’s probably not Iranian) who writes a lot of poetry.
(There are ten more of these under the Read More, if you are not already cringing too hard.)
Tumblr media
Zachary Wick is an excitable, talkative intern who pretty much worships the ground Seeley stands on. He and Jack become best friends. (Also I chose that dress for Camille because it seemed modest, but oops, it has no back apparently.)
Tumblr media
Angela Fisher is emo and has depression. She is relatable and definitely has her own Tumblr. Also she is an intern.
Tumblr media
One more intern, Christopher Nigel-Murray, a book-smart young man who communicates through useless trivia. He is awkward and a little annoying but he’s a sweetheart, and if he were to hypothetically get shot in the chest and die, everyone would be sad about it, not happy.
Tumblr media
Jacob Julian, an FBI prosecutor from ‘Nawlins. He’s a close friend to Temperance, tolerates Seeley, and dresses very colorfully. He also looks the absolute least like the character he’s supposed to be. Old men are really hard to make in Sims, guys.
Tumblr media
Stephanie Booth, despite not resembling them very closely, is Seeley and Temperance’s daughter. She’s precocious.
Tumblr media
Heather Clemens, bartender. Temperance goes to her for advice sometimes. In an alternate universe where Muffet gets swapped with the Mad Dummy (as I would have totally done instead if I’d been the first to come up with UnderSwap, but I wasn’t), this would be a picture of Heather F. Gibbons, Colin’s crazy mother.
Tumblr media
Vincent Pelant is an evil hacker who is also British. If he got shot in the chest everyone would probably be okay with it. Also I am weirdly attracted to this Sim I made, help.
Tumblr media
Aldo Taffet is a smooth-talkin’ lawyer man who buries children alive for fun. (I think that’s a potato in the picture, don’t worry.)
Tumblr media
Caroline Broadsky, an ex-military vigilante. She used to be Temperance’s friend but now she’s evil. She seeks justice, but decided that being a lawyer was too tedious.
Tumblr media
FINALLY, our last BoneSwap character is Christine McNamara, a little rich girl who grew up to be a serial killer that rips off her victims’ fingernails. I blame her parents for not bringing her up in an intellectually stimulating environment.

I still owe two starters from my previous starter call, but since I have new muses on the blog I wanted to make another one.
STARTER CALL! Hit the heart or leave a comment for a short starter with one of my muses. These will likely be spotify based, with lyrics coming from my "The Rock Playlist" or a character related playlist. If a muse is not specified, I will use my wheel spinner to pick one. These are for mutuals only.
Muses you can request starters from include :: Addison Gray, Aera Ryu, Bluestar, Claudia von Schroeder, Dorothea Abernathy Winchester, Eden Crawford, Elle Woods, Lexie Reynolds, Lilith Thompson, Santana Lopez, Violetshine, and Zachary Addy. These are all of the muses I have currently on my muse list.

I realized that when I posted the ask meme earlier, I ran out of space in the tags to list all of my characters, so I thought I’d make a new post listing them all (or at least, several of them…), grouped by story. In addition to sending in names for the ask meme, you can ask questions of/to the characters!
Supers:
Theo, Scott, Jennifer, Zia, Berta, Jonathan, Xander, Alex, Tyler, Lee, Elizabeth (and several others…)
Modern Monster:
Sam, James, Luko, Addy, Peter, John
The Oddest Neighborhood in the World:
Lowell, Melissa, Eric, Victor, Ven, Theo, Drake, Tony,  Chris, Zirgon, Zachary
Faedell:
Seamus, Gerald, Amy, Liekki, Ronan, Annabelle
The Rattan:
Zach/Perdido, Chess, Nick, Louis, Errol, Ruff, Rico, Kigali
Assorted Others
Logan, the Linguist
Theodore the Ghost
Terrence, Jimmy
Jamie
Roland, Erik
…I still feel like I’m forgetting some, but here’s several of my characters!

Being the bigger person, admitting you are wrong, and dealing with guilt are the focus of the episode. And not just in terms of everyone’s profession but personal life as well.
Previous Recap: Episode 7 “22 Steps”
Network ABC Director(s) Nestor Carbonell Writer(s) David Renaud Characters Introduced Dr. Lim Christina Chang Avery Kacey Rohl Racist Patient Jesse James Brandon Zachary Gordon
Professionalism: Claire, Dr. Lim
There is a bit of a question of what is a person, such as Claire, to do when asked to treat a racist? Someone who clearly hates her, is dismissive of her knowledge, and is antagonistic? Much less, to add to the difficulties of treating him, a racist? Well, Dr. Lim forces Claire to be as indifferent to a situation as we see Shaun in this episode. Something which is quite difficult for Claire to the point of openly questioning Dr. Lim and embarrassing her. To the point she finds herself, Dr. Lim, asking if Claire would speak to Dr. Melendez the same way?
Which leads Claire to check herself and despite the way the racist patient is, treating him like any patient and even exposing herself a bit to us. Primarily in the form of revealing her mother had issues and this forced her to go beyond the usual “Twice as good” adage most Black people are forced to follow. She worked two jobs, had two roommates and made a way. And also, she apologizes to Dr. Lim for Claire too knows what it is like by male co-workers to be dismissed, as Dr. Melendez did just earlier this season. So the last thing she would want is to be just like them and not show solidarity. Especially since Dr. Lim more so wanted Claire to get a win, especially one dealing with someone who couldn’t breathe, more than teach her this lesson.
Taking Responsibility: Shaun, Lea, Dr. Glassman, Dr. Melendez
A lot happens, or did happen, on November 20th, the day this episode takes place. For one, it seems to be the anniversary of Dr. Glassman’s daughter dying (perhaps). Someone who was close to Dr. Melendez’s fiancé Jessica, who seemingly was damn near living at his home at the time. Really pushing this idea Dr. Melendez really has no problem taking in other people’s kids and showing them perhaps the love and affection they were without.
But, in terms of his daughter, it seems he wasn’t there enough. Which is why, the way it is made to seem, he is so on Shaun about things. In his own way, it is to make up for him not having a careful eye on his daughter. Thus allowing for the situation where Jessica apparently got “lucky” while his daughter didn’t.
Yet, while guilt may drive Dr. Glassman to keep a closer eye on Shaun, it seems he is increasingly holding Shaun accountable. Such as for the shooting done by the racist patient which nearly led to Avery’s death. Because Shaun got wrapped in his bubble and didn’t hand over his wallet, a girl nearly died. And while Brandon, the boy she was with, blames himself for pushing her into that situation, and of course the shooter is to blame as well, what is pushed here is Shaun owning up to something.
Of which there are multiple breakthroughs. The first one is admitting he is wrong when it comes to something as a doctor. He even notes Jared did a good job catching his miss. Then, later on, he apologizes to Lea about not being supportive after their landlord, Armen, turned off her electricity. But, perhaps the biggest breakthrough comes from him opening up about making a mistake. Something he refused to do with Dr. Glassman, Claire, or even Dr. Mohan. Yet, he does with Lea. He even lets her console him.
Other Noteworthy Facts & Moments
It has been 13 years since Dr. Glassman’s daughter, Addy, died. Seemingly, something Addy and Jessica did is what led to Addy’s death. The specifics aren’t mentioned.

Where in the world is Dr. Andrews?
Highlights
Dealing With Undesirables
One of the things The Good Doctor consistently does is make you wonder how doctors handle certain situations, beyond just the medicine. Such as Claire’s situation with someone who had a nazi symbol on his chest. As we kind of saw, there was this desire to let him die. Let there be one less racist, drug-addicted, gun toting idiot on the streets. Yet, her job is not to play judge and executioner is it? Even if that person knows all the right things to say to get under your skin and isn’t the least bit thankful you played a part in saving their life.
Would You Do That To Dr. Melendez?
When can you have racism without sexism close behind? The two topics are perhaps one of the biggest social issues, alongside homophobia among other things, that television shows love to hone in on. But, in a slight twist, it wasn’t Jared who had the problem with his female superior but Claire. And not even a problem but I would say a certain familiarity.
It is questioned if Claire would outright question Dr. Melendez in front of nurses, patients, or other doctors and the answer is likely no. Yet, I do wonder if them both being women led Claire to be far too familiar with her superior? That because there is this unspoken sisterhood that should exist, neither appreciated the accusations and what they took as disrespect coming from one another. Of which Claire backed down and apologized, but there really did seem more to that than what was implied.
Opening Up
After Jared got quite a bit of character development in the last episode, it was nice to see Dr. Glassman open up to us a bit. Especially about his daughter since, at this point, it seemed Dr. Glassman adopted employees to make up for not having much of a personal life. Hence his relationship with Dr. Melendez and Jessica. But with learning about Addy, so comes the question of what is in Dr. Glassman’s past we don’t know about besides him taking in Shaun?
And speaking of what is within people’s past, it was also nice to get some insight into Claire. She has been this understanding, but reserved force on this show. So while it is unfortunate a racist cracked her open, learning her mom had issues and what she went through, albeit with less detail than Jared, to get to where she is was a welcome gift.
Leaving Shaun. We have seen growth in terms of Dr. Melendez utilizing his savant syndrome, Dr. Glassman holding him accountable, but Lea being allowed to hug him? Shaun admitting he was wrong and someone else was right? It was almost jaw drop worthy. All of which, in a way, makes you wonder if Dr. Glassman didn’t coddle him so much would he be further along in his social development?
Criticism
Jessica
I honestly have to look up this character every time she appears. She is so easy to forget and barely feels like a supporting character at this point. Despite her playing the hospital’s legal rep and advisor, Dr. Melendez’s fiancé, and Dr. Glassman’s ally on the board, her place on this show rarely holds relevance. Something I hope changes with the reveal of how closely tied her life is to Dr. Glassman.
