i know everyone likes to put tharja in the "yandere goth girl" category but tbh i feel like pigeonholing her into one specific archetype does a huge disservice to her character. is she obsessed with curses and robin? yes. is she constantly shoved into a fanservice role by intsys? absolutely.

but i think a lot of people forget just how impactful a lot of her supports are...there's something about tharja that makes nearly everyone who interacts with her divulge their deepest secrets and points of anxiety with her. we see this with libra, who tells her of the abandonment he endured at the hands of his parents. we see it with nowi, whose cheerful demeanor slips off as she tells tharja of her missing parents. and although tharja is not the only one lon'qu confides in regarding ke'ri, their support is notably the only one in which lon'qu divulges that there was romantic involvement between he and his childhood friend.

and despite her antisocial exterior, she always listens mindfully and offers to help! she even goes out of her way to discreetly help the shepherds (getting virion to do odd jobs that benefit civilians, interrogating henry to make sure he bears no ill will towards ylisse, etc).

a big thing about tharja is that she IS kind. she IS considerate. she just also has a reputation to uphold as a dark mage and that (paired with her overall awkwardness ofc) makes her true nature hard to see at first glance

the only reason anyone would willingly choose to live in sunnydale is that the property value is really low. which begs the question, why the fuck is cordelia living there? isn't her family supposed to be rich or something? i know cordelia's dad was committing tax fraud, but if you're going to get rich by stealing from the government you might as well use the money to not live on a hellmouth.

ok maybe this is just me BUT hear me out. the murders of shadowhunters are one of the few plot points that did in fact make it way from tmh to tlh right? but while their purpose in tlh is Belial bring Leviathan to earth, in tmh they are heavily implied to be for Jesse's resurrection. and immediately after this its revealed Grace is quite skilled as a warrior and this kinda suggests that Grace will be the one to kill the shadowhunters. which is idea I think you do so much with like think of the possibilities.

like imo I don't think Grace is the type to just kill five innocent people. Tatiana would, but not Grace. so when deciding to undertake this task, I think she would select people she deems deserving of it, who aren't innocent and instead are bad, people nobody would really miss, not nice etc. so yes Elias still dies <3 also I think it would be a given that while Tatiana is under the impression Grace is doing all this on her account, that she will end up being the fifth and final death needed. like the inverse of Valentine and Jace in tmi. this also ties into Grace being Heaven with the whole idea of a Avenging Angel. also this would create the messiest love triangle in existence like wouldn't even be about James anymore lol

okay so here when Cordelia thinks “to her immense shock, Alastair had been a great support.” what’s confusing about that? he’s told you all he’s done to ensure you had a happy childhood, a childhood he deserved but didn’t get. I’m sorry y’all but I don’t get what’s so shocking about him being supportive. I know Alastair went though his stages where he didn’t speak to Cordelia and they would argue but it’s very clear that he supports her. I don’t get where she has this idea that Alastair isn’t supportive.

he kept the secret about the demons they fought. he’s always making snide comments about Matthew and James (because Alastair probably believes neither man is good enough for his sister and let’s me real- from watching afar, he’s kinda right.). he just wants the best for his sister. I think his way is trying to tell Cordelia that these men won’t care enough for her, even if the comments come out harsh 💀

maybe its the fact that they hadn’t really spoken or communicated much prior to this? he’s probably the most supportive character in this damn series lmao

Reviewing the Chrom Supports because I need something to do while waiting for the Brave banner to drop.

no.1: Robin. My favorite. Both a reference to my favorite fe lord cannon romance (Sigurd and Deirdre) and even my second favorite one (Ike and Soren). The people who don't pair Chrom up with Robin astound me, the game gives you a man, tells you can break his heart ruin him, and you simply chose not to? Couldn't be me. I like what it does for Awakening's story, and I like how it makes Lucina suffer. Girl goes back in time to save her parents and the world and she finds out it's impossible to do both. Chef's kiss. Immaculate, their bond being central to the story and themes of Awakening makes it my favorite.

no.2: Maribelle. A sleeper hit for my second favorite Chrom pairing. If I ever to a play through of awakening where I play as male Robin, I'd pair Chrom up with Maribelle. I'm a sucker for childhood friends, and Maribelle having political ambitions (wanting to reform the judicial system) makes her a really interesting queen of Ylisse. Also Brady has the funniest version of the Chrom recruitment dialogue, "Is that how you speak to Ylissean royalty?" "I am Ylissean royalty!" Lives in my head rent free.

no.3: Olivia. Honestly Olivia and Chrom don't have to many actual interactions outside of their (not great) C-A support. But, while I don't have many feelings about Chrom and Olivia as a couple I do have strong feelings about Lucina and Inigo as siblings. I love them as siblings. They're so, so, funny. And Chrom!Inigo in fates, sitting on the floor of Xander's study having a crisis trying to figure out how he can see through his eye is something I have thought about. The only down side of them as siblings is that it means Owain is his cousin meaning Soleil and Ophelia are related and I think they should be girlfriends instead of second cousins.

no.4: Sully. They're both knights. Strong fighters. That's about all I feel about that. I honestly forget that they support. The recruitment Dialogue for Kjelle isn't even very different. She doesn't even say he's her father.

no.5: Sumia. The only one I actively dislike, my least favorite for a few reasons. First it's her only ending where she doesn't "Trade her lance for a stretch of pasture to raise a happy group of pegasi." Pairing her up with Chrom takes her out of her natural habitat, and I will call the cops for pegasus knight abuse. She deserves to settle down on a farm and live a peaceful quiet life. It's what she deserves. Second, I refuse to believe that Cynthia would mistake generic bandit 97 for her father. She recognised her mother's ring while both of them were mounted on their pegasi but she mistakes some guy, who doesn't have blue hair, falchion or a brand for her father! Although my distaste mostly come from the "She would be actively miserable as queen and should settle down to raise pegasi."

on the other hand ive been reading othello today and i know it's shocking ive read 23 shakespeare plays and it took me this long to finally get to othello. in my defense the riverside shakespeare (1973) is a hell of a drug. i have always been reading the plays in no particular order other than what my whims directed me to. i read the winter's tale last year because my professor mentioned it offhandedly. one of the first comedies i read was all's well that ends well not because i knew anything about it, or even heard anyone say it was good, but because i liked the title and i knew there was a character with my name in it. i read all over the place but yeah by far the most significant play i still hadn't read as of a week ago was othello, and now i'm more than halfway through it and. yeah.

i haven't read a pure shakespeare tragedy in three and a half years. ive mostly been reading the histories this year in particular. i think i might generally neglect the tragedies because i find the comedies and romances to be more whimsical and fun, and the histories to be more devilish and bloodthirsty and action-packed, however that is to my regret because my whims have not leaned more towards a tragedy in all that time. i still watch them on occasion but that's different.

i haven't felt this deeply connected to the characters in his plays in such a long time, my god. i absolutely love othello and my heart is aching. desdemona can do no wrong. cassio is poor and unfortunate. i want to rip iago's eyes out. oh my god wow.

CONTEXT: In my fanfic which is a mostly fluffy continuation of season 1 (no, I haven't read the books), James and Lydia stay with the Bells after the Mansion Incident. Here they're helping Helen with icing cupcakes for a random party order (we know they're both very talented creatively) , but what if Helen receives an order from the Beaufort mansion for some cupcakes for Cordelia's funeral? Will the twins help?)

(They have the readings and hymns from Cordelia's funeral's order of service playing over Ember's portable speaker)

Lydia studied the bouquet with teary eyes. “Helen?” her voice was small. “I know you already took the samples, but… mummy loved peonies.”

And so, that coming Friday James, Lydia, and Helen all sat at the same small kitchen table. They fondly remembered their mother as they iced intricate, colourful flowers.

Somehow, in that tiny kitchen, Cordelia Beaufort didn't seem too far away at all.

hmmm does anyone else think that Lucie writes the Wicked Queen Cordelia because she finds out what happens in the leak? because there are very few things Cordelia do to make her best friend so mad at her, and that is probably one of them. also after two books of Cordelia never really defending Alastair, I think it would be nice for Lucie to support James. like she may hope Cordelia will be her future parabatai, but James is her brother & that matters more.
