✨Which fictional character (book, show, or movie) do you relate to most?

This is honestly such a difficult question, and an answer that has probably changed a lot over the course of my life. Characters I used to relate deeply to still resonate with me, but I couldn't call the connection quite the same; at some once upon a times I might've said Anne Shirley, Astrid Magnussen, Rose Tyler; maybe Hermione Granger, Elphaba Thropp, or Andy Sachs; even Usagi Tsukino, Edward Elric, or Haruhi Fujioka. (And most recently Eddie Munson and Chrissy Cunningham, as well documented, and both for a myriad of reasons.) But I think that, in more recent years, one character that has weaseled into and nested in the core of me, like a baby with feet in my ribs, is Keyleth from campaign one of Critical Role. For anyone who doesn't know, Critical Role is a web-series where a bunch of (nerdy-ass) voice actors play Dungeons & Dragons. Keyleth is one of the played party characters of the group known as Vox Machina, and is a half-elf druid. She starts out as very reserved, shy, socially (and generally) awkward being, unsure of her skill and words, and a reluctant pursuer of her own destiny of leading of the Air Ashari. Throughout the course of the story, Keyleth becomes confident, lets herself fall in love, and grows as a leader; her strong, brave, and just foundations are built on through her experiences, and she always remains true to herself and inherently, wonderfully kind. She loses a lot, but still carries on, and Keyleth accepts and embraces her path, in the end, and becomes the Voice of the Tempest. My own path is life has been a little more mundane than all of that, obviously, but the looming voice of imposter syndrome always tries to sneak back into my subconscious and tell me that I'm not smart enough, strong enough, or capable enough to do whatever it is that needs to be done; that I'm going to be found out as a fraud. I am a very competent woman and professional, and I have worked hard to get where I am, and I know this, but that niggly bit of self-doubt can be so, so cruel, and hard to ignore. The path to self-actualizing in any capacity involves squashing that dumb DUMB voice and flipping the script, and then doing the thing anyway and KICKING ASS AT IT. We don't need to stop being kind, or vulnerable, or human to succeed, to be great; to step into our present and future with confidence, with faith in ourselves. We can retain all that and use it to our badass advantage. We also need to stop sometimes and look back on the journey and see just how far we've come. I keep a little Keyleth funko pop on my bookshelf, guarding my plants, and every time I need to move her to water them, or if I just look at her offhand and remember that she's there, it brings me a lot of joy.

🌙✨ Just tuned in to the latest episode of "The Forks Bachelorette," and guess what? Edward Cullen snagged the final rose! 🌹 I guess when you save the Bachelorette from a bunch of creeps and then brood about it, you get to merge "The Forks Bachelorette" with "Keeping Up with the Cullens." 🧛‍♂️✨

On "The Forks Bachelorette," Bella, Angela, and Jessica head to Port Angeles for some dress shopping. Bella, being Bella, ditches the dress hunt for a bookstore adventure. 🛍️📚 Because, why worry about prom dresses when you can get lost in a book, right? But of course, instead of finding books, she ends up lost and cornered by a group of sketchy dudes. Just your average night in Port Angeles, right? 😬

Just as things are about to get really dicey, Edward swoops in with his silver Volvo like the knight in shining armor nobody asked for. 🚗🔥 He orders Bella into the car with that classic, "I’m not mad, just disappointed" mom tone. As they drive off, he’s gripping the steering wheel so hard you’d think it was trying to escape. Bella, trying to lighten the mood, tells Edward how she’s going to personally kill Tyler for wanting to take her to prom. Because nothing says "romantic getaway" like planning someone's demise, right? 😅 Edward's probably thinking, "Wow, she's got some bite!" 🗣️💔

They land at an Italian restaurant where Edward insists Bella eats. He, of course, doesn’t join her—vampire diet and all. 🍝 During dinner, Edward drops the bombshell that he can read minds, except for Bella’s. This mystery only makes her more fascinating, like she’s the last puzzle piece he can’t quite fit. 🧩🧠 Bella must be thinking, "Edward, you're more mysterious than my mom's secret cookie recipe!"

Meanwhile, over on "Keeping Up with the Cullens," Edward’s perspective is a soap opera on steroids. He’s using his vampire super-senses to keep tabs on Bella and her friends, losing his mind when he temporarily loses her scent. 🕵️‍♂️ He finally finds her in danger and is ready to go full Batman on these creeps but restrains himself. Barely. The struggle is real. 😡🔍 And how ironic is it that Robert Pattinson, our beloved Edward, ended up playing Batman? 🦇💥

Edward’s relief when Bella gets into his car is palpable, but his rage simmers beneath the surface. He struggles to calm down, knowing any slip could lead to disaster. At dinner, he’s hyper-aware of Bella’s every word and gesture. His inability to read her thoughts makes her reactions even more precious and intriguing. 💬👀

Their conversation is a delicate dance of revelation and concealment. Edward carefully navigates the topics, revealing just enough to satisfy Bella’s curiosity while trying to protect her from the full truth of his world. He’s deeply conflicted, wanting to share everything with her but fearing the consequences. 😓🗣️

And oh, the dazzling! Edward unknowingly turns on the charm full blast, leaving everyone in the restaurant, including Bella, a little dazed. It's like he's got his own personal spotlight following him around. 💫 Bella’s probably thinking, “Is he even aware of how dazzling he is? Someone needs to tell him he's got a permanent sparkle effect turned on.”

The drive back to Forks is a rollercoaster of emotions. Bella’s curiosity gets the better of her, and she starts questioning Edward about his abilities. He reluctantly confirms her suspicions, explaining that he can hear everyone’s thoughts except hers. Bella boldly theorizes that he’s a vampire, and Edward, stunned by her accuracy, admits she’s right. 🧛‍♂️😲

Edward emphasizes the danger of being around him, but Bella is unfazed. She insists she’s not afraid and wants to be with him despite the risks. Their conversation is intense and heartfelt, solidifying their emotional connection. 💔❤️

And just when you think the night's over, Edward takes his stalking skills to the next level. After dropping Bella off, he sneaks into her house—not just her room—to grab a blanket and cover her up. Because nothing says “I care” like watching you sleep and tucking you in. 😅

And how’s this for irony: Edward’s brooding internal monologues now read like, “OMG she loves me too! Oh no, I made her cry, I'm so sorry! Aww, she's freezing—let me cover her up. There you go, sweet dreams! I'm her guardian vampire. OMG she's dreaming about me again!” It's like he's turned into a teenage girl writing in her diary. 📓❤️

So, wish me luck as I continue this wild, sparkly ride through Edward’s melodramatic perspective and Bella’s high school drama. Who knew that being a vampire involved so much dramatic monologuing and unnecessary angst? 😅✨
