She had no idea if he had his memories but ever since the events on the island, she did and she needed to come to the bottom of all of this.

ginny is that overprotective kind of friend, the one who can pick up on even the subtlest of changes in someone’s demeanor. she is one of the people that will always make sure someone is being heard and seen during a conversation. will pull them aside when she thinks something might be wrong. so that one christmas when they had learned that neville’s parents were committed at st. mungo’s, ginny didn’t say much while in the crowd with everyone but she absolutely pulled him aside once they were back at hogwarts, wanting to check in on him. to let him know that she was there for him with anything. she obviously couldn’t understand what he was going through but she was going to make sure she was there for neville if he needed her. she tried to stick close to him on the lead up to holidays after that, to make sure he knew that he would always have people at his side.

growing up he didn't get many gifts and overall the whole day was never about him, so this day wasn't always his favorite until he got to hogwarts. even then- he still didn't see the importance of it.

over the summer he stayed with the weasley's, you were able to spend much more time with him there as molly insisted you were always welcomed.

you woke next to him, softly running your fingers through his mess of fluffy hair. "Happy birthday love" you smiled, pressing a soft kiss against his lips as his eyes softly locked with yours.

you woke him up with breakfast in bed, along with leaving small little gifts everywhere he went. at one point he almost insisted you're gifts were to much for him, but you knew it was your day to spoil him and make him feel truly special.

though it landed on a school day, you still managed to shift your attention completely toward him. you spent the morning alone together in the kitchens, having a private breakfast made by the elves.

you convinced fred and george to set up a small common room party after school along with a towered cake made by the elves.

where - the potter family home who - neville longbottom @nchanting​

     ginny had finally brought herself to return to her own home. she knew she would need to go through harry’s things at one point and face that pain. just being back in the home she had shared with harry brought back so many memories, bringing their kids home for the first time. the first year all three of them were away at hogwarts, when it was just the two of them. the house was so full of memories, yet so empty at the same time. ginny still half expected harry to walk through the door at any second and take her into his arms, just as he did when he got home from work everyday for twenty-seven years. ginny had thought about going through everything with the kids, to let them pick out what they wanted to keep of their dad’s, but she truthfully had no idea what she would come across and knew it would be far too painful for her if her kids were there. instead she had asked neville to help her. ginny knew she couldn’t bring herself to part with any of harry’s things, but going through it all would bring her a bit of closure, because at the end of the day he wasn’t going to burst through the front door. this wasn’t all just a bad dream like ginny hoped it was. her husband was dead and now she had to pick up the pieces. she needed to return to her home. 

she sat on the floor of her bedroom in front of some boxes she had gotten down from the closet. in them were mostly random documents, pictures either her or harry had taken through the years of their friends and family, but there was one photo album she didn’t quite recognize at first. the handwritten label read ‘order of the phoenix 1976-1981′ opening it ginny recognized her own parents as well as the rest of the order “neville, come here!” she yelled to her friend. she continued to flip through the pages until she came to a page filled with smiling faces with the title ‘longbottom wedding’ written across the top. “neville come look at this!” she added, wanting her friend to see these photos.
