It was like clockwork. The echo of boots, then the heavy latch being opened. Whether I was needed for backup, or routine testing, there was no room for refusal. I knew what I was brought up to be, just a ghost story of a ghost story. The back up and successor to The Winter Soldier program.

The tests weren't so bad, really. Doctors poking and proding at me once a month between intense training to keep up my skills for the occasional mission. Then Winter got out, and I went with him. Bucharest wasn't so bad. The apartment was small, but I had a name now; Theodore. An ancient Greek name that mean 'gift of god'. I didn't exactly feel like a gift. Winter's name slowly changed too. First it was James. Then Bucky. Then I started calling him dad, seeing as he was the closest thing to one I ever had to one.

I still wasn't legally a person, my birth never being documented. I didn't go to school, and couldn't work, so I developed a talent for shoplifting, food, clothes, anything really. Dad took odd jobs here and there to at least try to keep the roof over our heads. Things that payed in cash, under the table, no questions asked. It wasn't good work a lot of the time, but it was an income.

I am a filthy filthy selfshipper and Steve has been #1 on my list for a long ass time.

I had to jimmy some stuff around timeline-wise. But the big thing that happened in 2018 wasn't Thanos (Because fuck him and fuck that), it was finding Steve in the ice, as well as the tesseract.

Steve was also only about 22 when he went into the ice. I kinda swapped comic Steve and Bucky's positions where Steve was the young (and probably a little naive) one, enlisting at 18 in 1940, went into the ice in '44, and this that and the other. Four years went by and the baby faced Captain was frozen for 74 years.

I was on the expedition to get him out and almost immediately fell in love.

Definitely I fell first, he fell harder. We all saw how he looked at Peggy. Bring back men who yearn. 😍

This is my son Rocko that I recently adopted.

Rocko is a lime-green crocodile. Rocko's probably around as big as a baby, plus Rocko is weighted so it actually feels like you're holding a baby when you hold Rocko.

Backstory: Every semester at my university, they hold a build-a-buddy event. They have a bunch of stuffed animal "skins" set out and huge boxes of stuffing. You get to stuff your own plushie, and they even have birth certificates. That's how I got Breakfast. Since then, she has become a favorite. I've recently been taking her with me places. She's the perfect size to carry around, and I've crocheted a blue harness for her with a hook so I can clip her to my bag.
