What are your ryomina headcanons? I've loved these two since I played P3 FES, and I'm so excited to get back into the fandom^^

hi!! thank you so much for the ask, welcome back to the p3 fandom, it's always a delight to see new and old ryomina fans alike! 🥺💛💙

as for headcanons, here's a "few" i that i tend to come back to a lot! my interpretations of them are influenced from both the source material and other's fanworks, so i've linked to them as i saw fit! hcs in no particular order under the cut because oops this got long (900 word bullet point list, mentions of reload content up to 1/1)

minato's hair is dyed blue (hair originally brown, you can see it in his roots!) and he has a beauty mark on under his left eye. i like mirror imagery and there's definitely a few arts i've rb'd that portray them this way :) (e.g. this one by feliichu and this one by marasschino)

as far as i'm concerned the bathhouse scene from the manga where ryoji's hair down = similar shape to minato? that is canon to me. this art from xierru is a fun depiction of hair down ryoji :D

ryoji is homeless. everyone say thank you foxmulder_whereartthou for this awesome fic it's why i have the headcanon! but like seriously. we have no idea where ryoji lives and i could believe this.

minato dying at the end of the game is sad to an outsider's POV BUT!!! ryomina gets to be together in death for the rest of their lives (this illustration from mafuwara is a gorgeous representation of them as nyx avatar + the seal)!

speaking of the seal, they are like telepathically communicating to me in the great seal together. (mymp3 had a comic wip with this. give it a looksie :D)

ryoji likes cuddling with minato because he's warm :) (something something orpheus has fire affinity, minato is warm by extension and ryoji is cold because he's death)

ryoji's camera roll is filled with pictures of minato! ryoji... loves life, to me. and i feel that photography and journaling are perfect ways of expressing gratitude and capturing the moments in life that are most important to you :3

my other favorite activity for these two is stargazing- i feel like it's something they could appreciate either in life or death (looking at the stars from the great seal...)! they do a bit of this in the fic eurydice's vow by crescentmoontea (P5R spoilers, takes place in third sem it's a very fun fic concept).

between ryoji and minato i feel like ryoji was the one who fell in love first- and it doesn't really click in place for minato that he loves ryoji until december hits (appriser reveal + ryoji transforming into thanatos). its about the realization that ryoji was with him for his whole life and that he gets him like no one else does.

ryoji is like a sad and wet puppy who is so scared minato won't like him back. he is so scared of being rejected by minato to me like. this boy straight up deflates after he does his "i know i said i wanted us to be friends, but... i actually want to be something more." / "what about you?" on 12/1 ???

AND SPEAKING of wet puppy ryoji. ryoji is like. every animal in the world to me. he's a bird. he's a cat. etc. and also ryoji knows every language in the world ever and uses it to express his love for minato. see this fic from superheroics to see what i mean.

both of them are lactose intolerant. "this isn't lactose, it's milk!" i definitely think ryoji would make himself sick eating ice cream and milk he doesn't know what lactose is. (i made a silly poll about this once and the tags were very entertaining.)

i see minato as transmasc or nonbinary depending on the day (schrodinger's headcanons babey they're simultaneously true and not true at the same time!!). either way he's not cis to me and ryoji is like. His Gender. anyway go read this fic by nail_gun for t4t ryomina :D !

ryomina are WEIRD GUYS TO ME!!! they are so strange and they understand each other better than anyone else because of the circumstances of their relationship!!! if you asked them to do the "i wonder what i taste like" meme i think they'd start biting each other (affectionate) tbh but that's just me.

after ryoji gives minato the music box in 12/31 on reload, minato listens to the music box every night in january. this boy has insomnia and also chronic illness to me (things that housing death does to you). but i think he finds comfort in the melody and memories he made with ryoji.

in general, i think it's fun to imagine minato taking ryoji to places and show him things he's interested in! i feel that ryoji takes a lot of interest in minato's life, this isn't really a hc because in reload, minato DOES give ryoji a tour of the school (11/9) and possibly port island (11/12). but ITS CUTE OK! (tangentially related fanwork: this series of doodles from vinnigami: 1, 2, and 3)

not a hc but minato's kindness is like the backbone of their relationship and i think we would not have the ryomina we know and love today if minato wasn't such a kind soul. oh minato.... we can learn so much from you... like ryoji did!

Anyways here's Ryoji Mochizuki world’s most perfect boy ^_^

favorite thing about them

Where do I start. Nyx being the primordial being, God in the persona universe. All life comes from her. She’s the beginning and the end, she is death itself. Having death be put inside a small boy and his kindness and love making death want to be human itself. Wanting to repay that kindness and love, feeling guilt at the way it treated the small boy, ruining his life.

The fact that Ryoji is Death, is Thanatos, is Pharos, is Nyx. They’re all the same being. The concept and execution of that, who had no feelings either way before, being treated so kindly to the point where it takes forms this bond with P3 Hero. Protecting him from the first arcana shadow as Thanatos on the first full moon of the game. The culmination of these forms is of course Mochizuki Ryoji. Who’s become soft and sweet. He copies P3 Hero’s appearance and gender and is everything that he never knew he wanted to be.

He loves the world so much, loves humanity so much. He’s so endlessly kind and having that kindness be a direct reflection of P3 Hero makes it that much sweeter. The fact he created this form because of his desire to have it and desire to separate himself from Nyx is the sweetest thing in the world. Especially when they’re all still the same being. Ryoji just has a hard time putting that in perspective again, he doesn’t want to be that, (Evident by his dumb Ryoji phase) doesn’t want to go back to that. It’s so sweet. He’s the cutest in the world.

Him and Junpei are so good it’s unreal. Just bros being bros. They hang out, are the most frat of guys and its hilarious. But when Junpei is going through a rough time Ryoji always knows exactly what to say. I find it so sweet.

They are literal soulmates. They are one another. Mirror images. Love birds. Codependent cats. Made for each other in the most literal of senses. Ryoji made his form from Minato so they could spend time together. Minato taught Death kindness.

Sometimes I feel so like I’m making them up they’re so perfect.

This is a bit odd to type out but pretty much anyone who isn’t P3 Hero with Ryoji? I see Ryoji as only being made for one person in particular, so the others just don’t appeal to me in the same way.

random headcanon

Can I cheat and put more than one. I’m gonna. These are all Ryoji post P3 unless stated otherwise.

- Ryoji going a step further and taking Minato’s hair and eye color. Draining a blue Minato used to have til his are bright and shining. The same way he absorbed his kindness.

- He is crazy codependent. Like crazy codependent. If he was able to touch Minato for a split second in November they would never be able to let go of one another. That’s why Minato had to avoid him in FES.

-He's really warm! Got that from Minato too so he's left with all the cold. Ryoji's fun to hug though :)

- Him and Minato watch over the world together in the great seal! Ryoji shares the knowledge while Minato catches up on rest and helps explain new concepts to him when he wakes up. He’s his doorman ^_^ (ha)

- He would really enjoy working retail if he ever got the shot. He loves people in general. Getting to meet them, talk to them, the whole shebang.

- He’s embarrassed of being Pharos. Like people get of old baby photos.

- Ryoji is metaphorically trans baby. Wanting to copy Minato and preferring being called Ryoji, a boy. It makes talking about Gods a bit difficult. Dysphoria and all. Poor thing experiences it in the weirdest of ways. But as Minato and Ryoji continue to be the seal, it’ll get easier.

- He likes sunrises and cheesy rom coms and fairy tales. Classic knight and princess stories. Kind of has the most normal taste ever, but a romantic at heart.

- Speaking of normal, I think “Dumb Ryoji” is a representation on what Minato would have been like if Death was never sealed inside of him. Perfect friends with all of the right people, charming, a bit of a playboy, and best friends with Junpei.

unpopular opinion

I personally don’t imagine Ryoji with a sexuality. His human form was made as a mirror to Minato, and so interacting with him throws him off course. He acts different around him, it confuses him. I don’t see anything Dumb Ryoji does as being a real representation of who Ryoji is.

I have some hcs regarding fashion and such !! I've kinda been thinking about this a bunch ever since I made those casual outfits for ryoji

-ryoji loves expressing himself through fashion, he really enjoys experimenting with clothes and discovering his style

-he likes going on shopping outings with yukari (minato has been dragged along a lot as well) (yukamitsu ryomina double shopping dates !!)

-ryoji's a big fan of yellow and also just any bright colours that go well with it. he's a bright and colourful boy :>

-minato never really cared much about fashion or style, a t-shirt is usually just good enough for him (his style is just. if its comfy and it looks nice then its good) and he's not a fan of bright colours or anything that makes him stand out too much. ryoji's been trying to get him to experiment a bit

and here's some of my more general hcs for them ^_^

-ryoji's a lot quieter when its just him and minato and minato smiles more around ryoji (minato is completely unaware of how much he smiles in ryojis presence and he'll get a lil embarrassed if someone points it out)

-minato's sleepy and tired all of the time. chronically sleepy (<- lol). god's sleepiest soldier. but he feels super comfortable having naps around ryoji. sleeping when he's nearby just feels safe.

-if ryoji and minato are hanging out at the dorm together, there is a fairly high chance that minato will end up asleep.

-also i like to imagine that if the two of them have a movie night at the dorm, they'll both end up asleep by the end with koromaru all cosied up with them too (<- i should draw this sometime)

-minato's super introverted. while he loves spending time around the ppl he cares about, he only has so much energy for socialising. ryoji is the one person minato can spend all his day around without draining the social battery

-also minato's a pretty quiet guy, he's a man of little words. he prefers to listen to people, rather than be the one leading the conversation. and bcs ryoji and mina know eachother like they know themselves, they don't always need to communicate verbally. I like to think they spend a lot of their time sitting in comfortable silence together

-ryoji's super fascinated and interested by all the simple joys in life. whenever he's out with minato he'll point out things like pretty flowers, birds, the way the clouds look. and they'll stop to admire the sunset if they're out late. and of course minato takes a lot of interest in the things ryoji points out to him :>

Hi! I am a huge fan of your work! (Especially winter is a lovely season for romance and funerals; you really know how to make a guy cry!)

I wish there was more ryomina content out there, so would it be possible to write a pinning Makoto that’s in denial about his feelings for Ryoji (first love sorta vibes?!?!)? (Crushing on the popular guy?!?). He could have internalised homophobia or he could just straight up just be in denial, but I’ll leave that up to you!

I’m so happy you enjoy my fanfic! WISRF is my baby rn, and I hope you don’t mind the super slow updates, I’m doing my best with it. In the meantime, I hope this holds you over, because! Oh my god, if you want more Ryomina content?? You came to the right lady!! I love these two with such an aggressive love. For example! When I finished this one, I had to click off of Tumblr so I didn’t post it too early. I ITCHED to post it. I don’t care if this is super polished, it’s not the fanfic. I can be a bit more lenient. I just wanted to have fun and enjoy the change of pace.

So! It’s a bit vague, but I went ahead and implied Minato’s a bit of a yandere for Ryoji as well as in denial.

Winter was probably Minato’s favorite season. The way the sunlight made blankets of snow sparkle like a sea of diamonds, the crispness of the air, the excuse to wear comfier clothes and stay under warm blankets, how peacefully quiet everything was due to the birds and animals either hibernating, hiding from the ice, or south for the season. It was all a blissful reprieve from the torturous heat of summer or the pollen-choked air of the spring months. Not to mention, Ryoji mochizuki had transferred to gekkoukan in those colder months.

Ryoji Mochizuki. Tall, around 5’11, with dark brown hair that was brushed back from his round, cheerful face as if his styling routine included putting his face in front of a high power fan. Paired with gorgeous blue eyes like two pools of the world’s most refreshing water, and it wasn’t a surprise that the charming trasnfer student had become Gekkoukan’s most popular student in the few weeks he’d been there. Which, was a feat, with how beloved Akihiko was. Yet, even with the fighter’s adorable, oblivious charms, when Ryoji had come to school, he’d taken the hearts of the student body like an expert phantom thief.

Or, well, at least, 99% of the student body adored the man. Minato Arisato was no stranger to charming playboys and their faux innocent, lovey-dovey antics, so Ryoji’s sugary magnetism was useless against the deadpan emo. No matter how soft those lovely sapphire eyes got when the brunette looked at him.

Or...that’s what Minato told himself each day when he heard one of his classmates whisper about some new facet of sex appeal the boy had. Irritation was what he claimed as the cause for how much he hated when he saw Ryoji out on a date with a classmate. Jealousy? No. Minato Arisato hated other people, they grated on his nerves without fail, so there was no way in hell he had any warm feelings that would stem something like jealousy. Right?

But, if that’s so, why does the mention of Ryoji going out on dates make you so aggressive? Orpheus asked, the epitome of that little voice in the back of your head that you fought to ignore. Although, does a crush really explain your feelings? What about how possessive you are of him? “Aren’t you cold, Funeral lily?” The words all but ripped the blue-haired teen away from his persona’s musings and brought him back to reality. The reality where Ryoji Mochizuki waited beside him for the train. Close enough for the shaggy-haired teen to smell how the various scents of food that had permeated the white dress shirt and black vest of his work uniform mingled with Ryoji’s peppermint-and-oleander-scented cologne. Which, meant he was too damned close. “I’m fine.” Minato said flatly before he stepped away to put a bit of distance between them. Some distance between himself and the irrational urge to brand the brunette’s cute ass. Yet, Ryoji didn’t seem to get that memo, because in the time it took the persona user to flick through a few of his songs, he became aware of the pretty boy’s body heat once again breath-tak- annoyinglyclose. “Personal space, Mochizuki.” “Are you sure? I didn’t see you grab a jacket after work tonight, and, I mean, it’s winter.” Ryoji pointed out. As if the midnight-haired teen hadn’t even spoken, and had somehow also missed the delicate flakes that drifted down from the darkened sky outside. “Yes I’m sure, and I don’t see youwith a coat either, so get off of my ass about it.” He snapped, yet when he looked back to glare at the teen who had stumbled into the shaggy-haired emo’s part time job, and just so happened to choose to work there as well, Ryoji’s blue eyes met his evil look with nothing but a warm sense of concern. The fact that the most popular boy in school had the absolute gall to look at him like that made Minato’s stomach churn. Though, that may have been caused by the swarm of butterflies he ignoring whenever he saw that addictive, sweet look.

Regardless of whatever confused feelings he harbored though, Ryoji still looked at him with undeniable softness in his gaze. A softness that Minato recognized from their first encounter outside of the very train station that they now stood in. A softness that drew Minato in like a warm hug in the chilled air of the winter night and blurred the prickly, hostile thoughts into simple white noise on that near-empty, slightly smelly boarding platform.

In fact, Minato had plenty of time while they waited for their train to notice just how soft Ryoji himself was. From that round face and dark, fluffy hair that looked feather-soft even before the blue-haired teen reached up to gently touch a stray strand that dared to fall into Ryoji’s sapphire eyes, to the warm body that he’d heard from the many girls was great to hold. And, that spark of jealousy was the dose of ice water that pulled Minato out of the trance he’d fallen into. So, the proximity of Ryoji’s face to his crashed down like a precariously balanced box at a sharp gust of wind and hit Minato right in the impulses. "Ah! Mina! What the hell?!” Ryoji yelped, his hand on his cheek as he stared at the midnight-haired emo who’d let those jealous, vicious urges slip just a bit. “I-I-I…” Sadly, when he tried to speak, shame choked the persona user worse than the stale, dank air of the dark hour, but he pushed the words out regardless. “I-I told you, personal space, god damn it! Listen!” “Motherfucker, you’rethe one who leaned in! I just met you in the middle!” Ryoji pointed out, but what was Minato to do? Confess to the jealousy he harbored towards all of the girls he heard talk about the brunette?

No. If he tried to explain the intricacies of his ‘jealousy’, he’d be forced to explain why the mere memory of his classmates harmlessly gossiping about Ryoji had driven him to sucker punch the man. He’d have to confront whatever those disgusting, squishy feelings were that Ryoji’s presence always seemed to dig up. And, the violent possessiveness that followed.

So, instead of doing any of that, Minato snarled, “I did not! Get your mind out of whatever pipedreams you have rattling around in that shallow ass head of yours.” And, while the look of hurt in Ryoji’s eyes stung, it stung far less than the humiliation of explaining himself. Especially since the train came along to rescue him from marinating in the kicked-puppy aura the captivating man gave off.

So, he simply ended the conversation with a huff, and put his music back on to drown out any other chance to converse.

Minato hated people. That included Ryoji Mochizuki as well.

Cue the squeaking and bird noises Ryoji be making when Kotone scooped him up and spun around, "Hehehe!" Death was funny like that when popping up off and on but knowing it was like home on coming back each time.

How do S.E.E.S sleep?

Minato: He's a narcoleptic he will fall asleep in random places. He's a very tired boy.

Hamuko: She's a rough sleeper and she drools, she doesn't have proper sleeping position.

Yukari: Sometimes she goes to sleep without taking her make-up off and intense bedhead.

Junpei: Now he snores really loud and it's hard to wake him up. He's a heavy sleeper.

Mitsuru: She sleeps pretty and wakes up with birds doing her hair.

Akihiko: He definitely talks in his sleep and punches

Fuuka: She sleeps with her tongue out and her childhood blanket and it's really cute.

Aigis: She doesn't really need sleep as you can see in the game.

Ken & Koromaru: Ken is a certified sleepwalker he doesn't know how to stop it, it just happens poor Koromaru witness everything.

Shinjiro: When sleeping or napping, he can sense anything and don't prank him it's not going to end well.

Chidori: She a soundless sleeper but her style is vampire.

Ryoji: He sleeps with his eyes open and it's very creepy to others. His eyes turn demon possessed black when open just like his avatar.

Three Reapers’ Games that Never Happened

A/N: Happy birthday @sapphireswimming. Have some mini-crossovers!

Here be spoilers for TWEWY and vague spoilers for Persona 3.  (Very light) warnings in the end note!

Three Reapers’ Games that Never Happened

1.

If Ling Yao had to sum up his Partner in one word, he’d use “angry.” Edward Elric is an explosion waiting to happen. He’d shown up in Shibuya Crossing with one side of his leather pants tied off above the knee and a crutch under his shoulder, swearing loud enough to scare off every player except Ling.

It’s Day 3, and Ed stopped asking about his entry fee after the first time Ling lied to his face. Ling can kind of respect that. Ling, on the other hand, would really like to stop hearing about the fact that whoever’s in charge of the game stole Ed’s prosthetic. On Day 1, he was sympathetic. Now, he’s just annoyed, and frustrated.

It’s not Ed’s fault that he’s not Lan Fan. It’s not.

They’ve got something of a temporary alliance with one of the other pairs—a blond kid who looks too much like Ed for it to be a coincidence and one of Ling’s half-siblings, Mei. The blond still hasn’t introduced himself.

“Oh, yeah, I don’t really remember?” he says, when Ling asks. “I’m pretty sure that was my entrance fee. One of the Reapers called me Al, but that feels….off, somehow?”

Ed makes a noise like someone punched him. There’s that theory confirmed.

“Maybe it’s short for something?” Mei suggests.

“Huh, maybe,” Al says. “Alex? Alfred? Nah, none of those seem right.”

“Alphonse,” Ed all but croaks.

Al smacks a fist into an open palm. “Yeah, that’s it, I think. Alphonse. Thanks, uh, Ed, right?”

“Yeah,” Ed says. His smile is so fake it hurts to look at. “That’s me.”

And that’s when the Reapers show up, because nothing in Ling’s life ever goes right. It’s the smart ones, too, the blonde lady with her hair pulled up into a bun and the smirking, dark-haired man. Even though he only ever summons Alterna Wolves and all her Noise is bird-themed, the combination of flames and aerial attacks is usually devastating.

Ling is on the ground, recovering from overusing his Psychs, when he sees a pair of Alterna Wolves descend on an exhausted Alphonse. Before he can yell out a warning, Ed is there, leaping between Al and the Noise, stretching his arm out directly into one of the Wolves’ jaws—

The words, “Don’t you dare touch my brother,” are echoing in Ling’s ringing ears—

The dark-haired reaper’s eyes are wide as he does—something—

And maybe they aren’t all going to die just yet.

2.

Arisato Minato unwraps his burger and takes a bite, relishing the taste. After two weeks of playing in this d*mned Game, and he’d decided that if he was going to have to rely on food as a way of boosting his attacks, he was going to enjoy it.

He glances over at his Partner, the ever-opaque Mochizuki Ryoji. He was humming to himself and sipping soda as if his life wasn’t at stake—typical for him, really.

Try as he might, Minato couldn’t figure him out.

“Can’t you take any of this seriously?” he asks aloud.

“But I am taking it seriously,” Ryoji replies, wide-eyed.

“No, you’re not,” Minato says. No, snarls. He can admit, he’s snarling. “You’re treating it like it’s a game!”

“It is a game!” Ryoji says. “But it’s serious too. That’s the beauty of it.”

“What’s beautiful about it?” Minato asked. “Making us fight like this, forcing us to compete against each other for just a chance at living…it’s cruel.”

It makes me want to give up, he doesn’t say.

“It gives humans a chance to show off how very much they want to be alive,” Ryoji says. “I think that’s very beautiful. Maybe the most beautiful thing in the world.”

Later, Minato will remember the way that Ryoji said humans and feel like an idiot.

3.

Danny Fenton knows that something is wrong when he wakes up in the crosswalk and understands all the conversations going on around him.

He’s in Japan. He doesn’t speak Japanese.

Something is wrong.

And then there are animals that look like they’re made of cursive brushstrokes attacking everyone and a girl runs up to him and shouts something about being his Partner.

He understands her words, but not what she means. Not at first. Not until things get really weird.

There’s a fight and something involving pins and his ghost powers keep throwing things sideways so in the end he stops using them but when things stop feeling like he’s in the middle of a transformation, the girl is staring at him like he’s a freak of nature.

Which isn’t new. But it still hurts.

Still, he doesn’t really realize the extent to which he has messed up until a blond kid materializes in the middle of the square, walks up to him, and starts looking him up and down.

After a solid minute, the boy says, “You don’t belong here at all.”

He snaps his fingers, and it echoes.

And then he’s gone, and so are the girl, and the weird creatures, and half of the people in the crosswalk.

At least everyone’s speaking Japanese again?

Motoi is my favorite person from another team so far. Just randomly saying things in other languages. I know that feel bro. Sometimes my brain is like “have that phrase in Italian” which is not helpful as all the Italian I know, I learned from Assassin’s Creed. Do people who don’t know any French or Spanish find him annoying? I learned some French and Spanish growing up and can follow simple sentences fairly well. Can’t SPEAK them worth a damn however.

Final - Is This Sound Art?

My final is called “Is this sound art?”

It is a collage that combines many concepts that we learned of in class. From John Cage’s take on sound, noise, and silence to the late 20th century masters of sampling all the way to the modern day vaporwave and glitch art scene.

I was influenced by dirt style, vaporwave, plunderphonics, Ryoji Ikeda, glitch music and art, acousmatics, Christian Marclay, James Tenney, Hugo ball, Amacher, and the internet as a whole. The visual (skit) format was influenced by Forcefield and early Fluxus performances.

My Piece very much has a lot to do with comedy and internet/digital culture. I wanted to make something that peeked back at my life so far and all the things I enjoyed growing up with (and still do today). The video is done in skits, sort of like a “Robot Chicken” of sound art. It is called “Is This Sound Art?” because I have a sense of humor and mainly because that is a very thing I questioned myself with while making this piece. It starts with me receiving a VHS that contains a collection of my past, told through various things I’ve enjoyed throughout my life, like video games, music, internet memes, anime, tv, and movies. It begins and ends with the tape, and the video in which I am watching begins and ends with heavy distortion. I very much enjoyed working with both Premier Pro and Adobe Audition to create this project; I learned many new skills and hope to improve my editing prowess in the future. 

When creating the sound pieces, I later introduced gifs and stills that complimented what was going on, later I incorporated clips from movies and eventually one thing led to another and I was simultaneously making sound art and videos that were edited around the sounds. Through responding to one thing the other came along shortly. Most (if not all) the videos used are replaceable with other clips or stills if edited properly. The sounds created gave me a vision of the visual aspects that would better portray the very impact of what I intended the sounds to have in the first place.

I will post images of my project panel to help show the actual process involved in creating this piece. 

Process:

One of the thing I didn’t get to go over in detail in class was the process and the lengths in which I went to to find fitting video clips to match my sound sample pieces. 

Note: 95% of the video clips used did not retain any of their original material in terms of sound or were edited/transposed with other sounds!!! 

(a perfect example of this is found at the 1:44-1:45 min mark in my video, in which you see an M40A3 sniper from CoD4 go off and seemingly hear the sound of a gunshot to go with it. This is in fact not at all the sound you are hearing (or a gunshot noise at all!), instead, I used a section of the recording of “Fearless” by Pink Floyd and added a reverb effect in Adobe Audition that makes it sound void and distorted to make the effect. (the same song is used at 0:58-1:01, and football chant section at 1:14 and 2:30 respectively)

Also, many video clips were edited to make it look like people/characters are speaking words in which my sound collage sample is saying, but they are just either examples of pure chance, like at the 1:17 mark, where it looks like you see The Hound from Game of Thrones singing “I’m Tickled Pink” by Jack Shaindlin. (He is actually singing....this.) Or they were intentional morphed into looking like they spoke the word, like the obvious one at the 1:20 mark.

I started my process by mingling together sounds and songs samples from various medias and in some cases spoken word. I then, completely separately, compiled a massive load of videos from various sources on the internet, and also recorded some videos myself, of myself, and from footage of video games recorded by myself. I then tried my best to fit my sound examples together to form separate “skits”, then I did the daunting task of editing the videos together in a way to make it look like it all fit together somewhat naturally!

It combines themes we learned like plunderphonics, collage, acousmatics, and sound sampling to create something that is meant to be a revision of my past. I explore things that are important to me through: Internet culture + memes, video games, anime, TV, movies, music, and more! My main inspirations were glitch art, vaporwave, dirt style, and the core essence of what it is to be a sound sampler. I always ask myself: What is sound art? And to no avail, i get myriad of answers and descriptions. I created this piece to challenge the very question of what makes something "sound art" and what makes it just some plain old memified video found on the interwebs. This took me 3 days straight to create and I hope you'll enjoy!!

Pet shadows love salami

So, I’ve had this goofy little idea for an AU for a bit and thought I’d finally write a small scenario for it. It’s pretty silly, and I am well aware that this is NOWHERE near canon for Ryoji’s shadow form, but I enjoyed writing it so I hope you enjoy reading it!

           "No, you are not getting Salami, Ryoji. You ate only an hour ago." Minato said in response to the piercing, pleading caws at his feet. Noises that you'd expect from an expressive bird, but were instead coming out of an unmoving white mask with a permanent waning moon grin worn by an emaciated black creature with slicked back hair, puffs of oil-colored feathers over his hips like the back half of a skirt, four wings, and hind legs like a birds, but thin human arms at the front. The thing was only the size of a large house cat at the moment, but he basically screamed like an opera singer as he wove between Minato's feet. Begging for a piece of salami from the stick of meat the blue-haired male was taking back to his room to slice from and eat. The entire way, his odd pet causing a racket.          "what in the hell are you doing to that thing, Minato?!" Yukari snapped, poking her head out of her room to glare at him when he passed,           "He wants salami...I won't give him a piece." He explained blandly between shrill, upset caws while the shadow stood on his hind legs to grab Minato's pants and clung to his clothes when he continued to walk.            "Ryoji, will you quit it." Minato snapped once in his room. Having to angle his snack away from his pet while the creature crawled along his arms and body, trying to grab the salami out of his hand with shorter, quieter caws, his equivilent of whining.          "Look, if you chill the hell out, I will give you one piece, okay?" That made the little creature fall silent. Climbing onto Minato's bed with the blue-haired man who simply got settled and began cutting away bits of salami with a knife. All the while, his odd, boney Shadow sat in front of him, his blank, smiling mask watching him and the salami chunks he ate. Keeping his word, the grey-eyed male gave him a somewhat thick slice of sausage. Watching the bird creature shove it into the mask's mouth and bite off chunks. Which, made for an interesting sight, at least, as the creature ate with the janky movements of a bird, while holding his snack like a raccoon might. In the end, Minato ended up sharing more of his snack with the little monster until the winged creature decided to settle down on his lap while the boy watched youtube.
