Star Wars lore can be fun because it's drawn from over 40 years' worth of movies, shows, books, comics, etc. (granted, huge chunks of those are inconsistent or full-on contradictory 😂), which means there are also a huge variety of fan ideas and fanworks.
However, I think there's really something to be said for fandoms that have a much smaller canon.
With SW, everyone has consumed different stories and info from canon or EU or legends, so we all have different starting points for our ideas about the GFFA. In my experience, it's extremely rare to find someone who has consumed the same stories that you have, which makes it very difficult to have any kind of meaningful discussions about characterizations, worldbuilding, the history of the GFFA, and even the basic themes of Star Wars itself.
In effect, we're all operating from different canons.
Obviously, this leads to incessant arguing among fans and even some gatekeeping or snobbery from folks who had/have the resources and time to buy and read thousands of comics and novels. And of course, they're annoyed with newer or more 'casual' fans who have maybe only seen the movies or only consumed whatever is current Disney canon, etc. (though believe me, I understand this frustration in other fandoms when people conflate book material with the movie/tv show adaptations).
There's no solution to this, of course, but it's something I think about once in a while, and it really makes me miss fandoms where canon is like, three seasons of a show and that's it 😂

ok but imagine being Yaz and you fall in love with the Doctor but it doesn’t work out bc the Doctor cant stay anywhere for too long and also won’t talk about her feelings to save her life
and then the next regeneration of that person settles down to live with another family for years, in the same city as you, less than a day after you said goodbye forever
and then the NEXT regeneration after that talks about his feelings CONSTANTLY. Gives all the info on Gallifrey and their parents and the time lords and all of it DAY ONE.
I would go insane

I don’t want to start drama but I’ve seen some concerning posts floating around about how distasteful and disappointing it is to see certain creators “support” Dorian and I hate to break it to you guys, but if you’ve ever interacted, shared or created anything regarding The Arcana you are supporting Dorian yourselves.
Being in the fandom alone is supporting Dorian by creating engagement, publicizing the game and being part of the audience they’re trying to target.
And even if you were to delete your whole blog and everything you’ve ever posted to enjoy the original game in private you would still be supporting Dorian by bringing traffic to the app they now own.
The one and only way you have to stop supporting Dorian, if you care about it so much, would be to distance yourself from the series entirely and go join another fandom. Never play the original game ever again and never interact with any fan creation regarding it from now on. 👋

Now that I mentioned Gabriel I remembered when I replied to a theology student’s ig story about the apocalypse coming and I said that I just want Gabriel to blow his trumpet and get this over with and then he replied with “the fact that you have a crush on an archangel is worrying but also wholesome” to this day I haven’t understood why he even said that????? It was so disturbing and frankly a little bit blasphemous for me? Like,,,,,,

Six-Sentence Sunday
From the ongoing fic! This is a bit from the next chapter I will post (probably tomorrow).
“You didn’t respond to my message,” was Qui-Gon’s greeting to him when the door slid open.
Obi-Wan grinned despite himself, sudden and wide enough to make his jaw ache. “You clearly stated that my silence would serve as assent.”
Qui-Gon smiled back, and one of his hands landed on Obi-Wan’s shoulder, heavy and solid, a welcoming clasp that spoke more than any words ever would. It was a gesture that would not have looked out of place on any master and apprentice, but this one had come to be theirs; Obi-Wan had strained against more expressive displays of physical affection in his youth, and so the reassuring grasp of shoulder or arm had become their compromise, Qui-Gon’s expression of affection or concern or comfort in a way Obi-Wan was willing to accept.
It made him feel more loved than he could ever admit, though today he found himself also admitting – somewhere deeper than he could ever acknowledge aloud – that he would have welcomed a greeting embrace.

Nice songs! I like the way you think! I wish Kaku can rejoin Galley-La in the future, provided he apologizes, and Galley-La forgives him, of course. Who realizes that Franky and Lucci are going to be in-laws first? I just realized that I sent the Alice in Chains songs twice, so you get six songs this time! "Pictures of You" by The Cure, "One Thing" by Finger Eleven, "Skinny Love" by Bon Iver, "Whirring" by The Joy Formidable, "Tongue Tied" by Grouplove, and "Little Talks" by Of Monsters and Men.
oh kaku is absolutely joining galley-la. they try to make him stay after enies lobby and he's like "no let's go be proper government traitors and give everything we know to the revs and then i'll consider it" this argument ends with the other six deciding that they'll do that and then promptly dump kaku on the next ship to water 7 regardless of whether or not he agrees. if necessary, they are not above tying him up to get him there. if that doesn't work, they could always ask kuma.
(kaku absolutely wants to go back but he also, y'know, doesn't want to just ditch the rest of them. meanwhile, the rest of them are like "oh my god please just ditch us and go. live ur childhood dream. pls. at least one of us gets to.")
honestly, the first one to realize the in-laws is probably one of cp9. or nami. actually no wait it's probably nami. she catches onto the whole franky/robin thing quick and then just kind of has a moment where she just mentally points between them and starts laughing her ass off because oh god. it's funny on so many levels, at least partially because the former government assassin is going to be in-laws with the head of water seven's big gang.
songs!! a: i love "pictures of you" it's so good. (the emo kid loves the cure, who's surprised) also oh god "tongue tied" i haven't heard that song since glee. (it is a good song though)
"toxic" by britney spears (who saw that one coming), "don't hold your breath" by nicole scherzinger aaand "unkind" by sloan
