#(but it does have to compete with the like.. 80 song comics i already want to draw đ so no promises!!!)
"This is Home" by Cavetown is SUCH a Starstruck dee song
i didn't know this one, but the song is apparently literally about aromanticism (as well as asexuality, anxiety, and gender dysphoria), so i can definitely see it!
outside of that context, i rather like these lines for Starstruck in particular!
Get a load of this monster // He doesn't know how to communicate // His mind is in a different place
Get a load of this train wreck // His hair's a mess and he doesn't know who he is yet
But little do we know, the stars // Welcome him with open arms
thank you for thinking of her and sending this one in! i'm actually really touched by this! music is super super important to me and i spend a lot of time finding songs that suit characters and every tiny shift in their story arcs
i'm very guilty of hearing every song and thinking it's About The Character. so to think that other people are hearing tracks and thinking about starstruck as the character is so incredibly meaningful to me!

A Jikook Guide to RunBTS: 66-80
Things in this batch start out a little slow, KM-wise, but seriously pick up around the Toronto episodes. It features the episodes where both RM and Jin ask if JK and JM are a couple, so it includes the giggly hand-push game that helped make me a jikook believer!Â
As usual, let me know if Iâve missed anything or should take another look at something. :)
Ep 66 "BTS in a Comic Book Cafe Part 1"Â (Ep: 2 / KM: 1)
The one that I canât help but feel would be more fun if I was more familiar with the comics involved, but the guys make it cute anyway
3:08 - This is a little hard to see because they use weird angles and cuts, but JK sings a piece of a theme song and JM catches his eye and sings with him.
9:23 - JK leans in over JM's shoulder to see how many people are on the comic book page
10:18 - JM does the same when it's JK's turn
BEHIND
10:29 - JM jokes around with JK and does the playful chest tap thing
Ep 67 "BTS in a Comic Book Cafe Part 2"Â (Ep: 3 / KM: 1)
None
BEHIND
7:28 - JM asks JK if there's a comic book he wants and says he'll buy it for him if so
Ep 68 "Heart Pang"Â (Ep: 1 / KM: 0)
The one where I can't for the life of me understand the board game they are playing
None.Â
Ep 69 "BTS in Toronto Part 1"Â (Ep: 4 / KM: 5)
The Toronto one where Jikook wear matching denim shirts while going to Niagara Falls, getting lunch, and playing games
2:36 - RM says there are certain people who will struggle with the wake up challenge. JK and JM readily seem to admit it's them.Â
6:29 - JM hangs back (to walk with JK?) when the rest of the group starts heading for the Falls.
8:06 - There's a "teleporting" moment where Jin is in between JM and JK, then the camera cuts away, then it comes back and jikook are next to each other. They stay next to each other as they walk on.
9:52 - You can see jikook interacting in the background.
12:25 - JM takes a photo of JK and gets him to giggle, then they huddle to look at the pic.
13:56 - JM puts his arm around JK and takes a selca in the background, causing RM to ask "what, are you a couple or something? Both wearing denim shirts?" He says it fairly seriously for a line that seems like it's supposed to be a joke and they don't laugh or say anything in response - it looks like JM looks away and flips his hair while JK shifts and awkwardly rubs his forehead.
You can also see a quiet exchange after between RM and JM where RM says no to something, then nods at JK. Unclear if it's related, but including it just in case.Â
15:25 - JK doesnn't try to distract JM while he did the staring contest like he did with Hobi. When Jimin passes, JK is the only one to clap.Â
18:04 - Quick moment where you can see JK start to rub the arm of JM's shirt before the camera cuts away.
18:50 - JM laughs and touches JK's chest after JK loses the rocks paper scissor game, too.
19:53 - When the other five walk away and JK is doing something with his mic, we don't see where JM is.
22:02 - JK appears to help JM with something with his camera in the foreground.
BEHIND
4:12 - After JHope scolds JK for letting Suga pour everyone's water, JK goes to pour JM some water, then puts the pitcher down. JM seemingly tries to help him out by saying it's a new trend for the oldest to pour water.Â
Ep 70 "BTS in Toronto Part 2"Â (Ep: 3 / KM: 5)
The Toronto one where the guys go shopping, pick beds, and play games
1:15 - JK slows down to walk side by side with JM.
2:00 - When JK messes up the game he was confident he'd win, JK laughs and playfully shoves at his chest.
7:23 - When JK loses a game and has to buy the others hoodies, JM sneaks a hat into the pile while JK has his back turned. RM rats him out.
8:01 - JM quietly puts the hat back in the pile, then walks over and hugs JK.
8:40 - JK walks over to Jimin to show him something (sunglasses he wanted?).
20:30 - When they're all joking around about whether they can fit four people on a bed, JK moves JM into an L-shape and then lays down nested with him.
BEHIND
0:09 - JK calls out "Jimin-ssi!" and tosses JM that hat he bought him.
4:49 - When the guys are all stretching and JM is in an inconvenient place, JK calls him "Jimin-ssi" again, essentially feels up his calf, and then pushes his upper thigh, all purportedly to get him to move over.
5:28 - JK kneels down behind JM, who's on all fours, and holds his hips to correct his position (I am literally just describing what happens in the clip, but I kind of feel like I'm writing porn, here...). JK then picks Jimin up to move him over a bit. Both giggle as JK starts to stand up and then the camera cuts away.Â
I can't even begin to think what exercising looks like for these two when there aren't cameras on them...
6:55 - JK reads out the words on the Jimin shirt they're all wearing, which happen to be, "BTS Park Jimin, I love you! I root for you! I'm ARMY!" with a huge grin on his face. Jimin laughs - no one else does - and then jokes that they should wear the shirts back to Korea, prompting JK to tell him "bye!" and wave while giggling.Â
7:37 - Jimin shows the parts of the shirt design he would change by poking JK's chest, and then JK and JM share a fairly steamy look until RM interrupts.Â
7:52 - JK folds up the shirt so JM's face looks weird and Jimin points to him doing it and laughs. No one else does.Â
Man, these two were really in their own world this whole Toronto trip, weren't they?
8:02 - JM tries to give JK some advice on the game he's about to play. Before starting, JK starts what seems like it's going to be a silly pose, but ends up being him dragging his fingers down his face, neck, and chest. Sadly for JK, JM wasn't looking. Happily for us, we can look as much as we want.Â
8:18 - When JM wins a game, JK claps for him. You can probably guess by now that he's the only one who does.Â
10:09 - JM steals a piece of steak, then JK does some cross-cut teleporting to come over and sink down into a chair next to him. JM overdoes making his eyes look big and innocent (perhaps hoping to get caught and scolded?).
10:35 - JM makes Jin move when he takes JM's seat next to JK
I feel like just the Behind for this episode needs it's own jikook rating! And most of it is watching JK lead the guys in a workout. If you're going to watch just one Run Behind, consider making it this one!
Ep 71 "BTS in Toronto Part 3"Â (Ep: 3 / KM: 3)
The Toronto one where the guys have dinner, have breakfast, and play games
14:28 - Maybe nothing, but just to note it - in this and the next shot, you can see JM heading towards where JK is lying back on the couch after losing a game, then there's an abrupt cut and everyone is in a totally different position.Â
29:20 - JK tells JM the "super-pancake" he made is for him since he has to do the penalties.Â
BEHIND
6:59 - JM says that he thinks JK will want to eat and calls out for him.
Ep 72 "BTS and Mafia"Â (Ep: 3 / KM: 2)
The one in which we learn that BTS is so terrible at the Mafia game that it almost comes back around to being impressiveÂ
3:10 - When Jin says JK is suspicious because he isn't talking, JM defends him, saying "you know he doesn't talk much."Â
8:34 - JM seems to direct his appeal to be spared to JK.
18:16 - JK compliments how well Jimin is doing at the game.
20:13 - After Jimin says he's ARMY, JK asks, "do you like me that much?" Then there's a quick cut and Jin is doing a Jim Halpert face at the camera.
28:03 - Confusing maybe-moment - let me know if it's clearer to anyone else! - but after JH is sending finger heart guns, JM points gun fingers directly at JK for no apparent reason.Â
BEHIND
2:39 - Before they start playing, JK predicts that JM and Jin will be good at the game.
Eps 73-76 âRun BTS Drama Parts 1-4âłÂ (n/a)
The ones where BTS spend four episodes making a âcomedicâ skit
01:09 - After JK explains that he had a wisdom tooth taken out, Jimin adds the info that they had to take out the whole root.Â
09:10 - Even though V is the "director" of Jimin's scene, JK speaks up and takes over the role, saying that directors use informal language and repeating twice in informal language "Jimin, let's go!" He continues speaking informally when Jimin messes up and JK scolds him.Â
11:40 - When it's JK's turn to deliver a line and he gets nervous about remembering it, JM reads it out loud for him. He also says as soon as JK delivers the line that he did the best job and adds to Hobi, "he doesn't get embarassed, I told you."Â
16:26 - It's a little hard to see for sure, but it looks like Jimin votes for JK when it's time to choose who should be the skit's director.
I'm going to be totally honest with you guys - I didn't rewatch these episodes past this. I first saw it months ago and remember being disappointed and fairly bored through most of it past the first half of the first episode - I don't find the skit funny and the behind-the-scenes stuff isn't amusing enough to make a four-part episode about. Iâm sure there are others who completely disagree with me and no judgment if you don't share my opinion! But I'm doing this guide for fun and I don't want to spend two hours rewatching them.Â
I don't recall a ton of jikook beyond the above - I think there's a moment in part 3 where JK is getting tired and Jimin offers to take over slating for him. So, anyone who is a fan and knows / finds more jikook moments, please let me know and I will update this guide to reflect that. Otherwise, let's happily move along. :)
Ep 77 âFood Guest Part 1âłÂ (Ep: 4 / KM: 5)
The weirdly-named ones that are prob better translated as "food connoisseurs" but the specifics of the foods theme don't really matter because JIKOOKÂ Â
07:41 - When Jin says JK and JM will be competing in a palm-push game, JM says he's already lost (because JK is strong).
07:55 - I'm fairly certain that, if you're a jikook-er, you've seen this moment. It's so unabashedly flirty a description can't really do it justice. Â
JK and JM are supposed to be playing a game where they put their palms together and shove to see who can make the other lose their balance. JM shoves lightly at JK's chest before they even start the game, then both start giggling. Still giggly, JM asks if JK's ready and JK says he is. JM pushes at JK's palms and JK just swings his arms back as they look at each other and smile. Jin interrupts to ask, "are you a dating couple?" (that's the most direct translation - V app translation is "are you two together?"). JK and JM both laugh, the latter so hard that he spins around, thus losing the game.Â
17:08 - JK is staring so intently at Jimin on his knees with a blow-pen in his mouth that he completely misses RM trying to give him a high five. Jin has to call for JK to please respond to RM before JK looks away and returns the high five, laughing and apologizing. He looks back immediately after.Â
BEHIND
0:58 - JK gives JM a shoulder massage while holding his chest as JM makes satisfied noises. I've seen this clip in compilations before, but hadn't realized it was also from this episode. It's really the gift that keeps on giving!Â
4:29 - Just prior to the above palm-push game, JM reaches out to do something to JK's sleeve (I think?). The camera cuts before we see clearly. Â
4:31 - Slightly different angle of JM and JK giggling at the start of the palm-push game.
7:11 - Reveals that RM actually tried to high five JK and was ignored TWICE before Jin called JK's attention away from JM on his knees with a blow-pen in his mouth.Â
Ep 78 âFood Guest Part 2âłÂ (Ep: 3 / KM: 3)
15:00 - JK jokingly asks what the answer is and Jimin giggles at him as the on-screen text says, "how adorable." Unsurprisingly, the others are less enamored. (JK's biggest fans = 1. Jimin 2. Run BTS on-screen text writers)
BEHIND
9:56 - JK watches JM dance playfully, then wiggles his own hips, seeming to want JM's attention. Jimin smiles and starts to say something that gets cut off.Â
10:03 - JK films JM as JM dances and smiles while looking into the camera. Jimin is doing silly dance, but JK zooms in on his joyful face. He quickly licks his lips as he watches.Â

Everything Wrong With Everything Wrong With Teen Titans Go! To The Movies
ORIGINAL VIDEO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bq3g4pJY07Y&t=0s
1.Heâs slightly improved in a few ways, but he still has the same terrible intro that begs for likes.
2.He also still refuses to put his sinning intro over the actual title card. So really itâs Everything Wrong With _____
3.âA full minute of intros and Iâm not even sure because two of them were for the WBâ The 2nd one was for WB Animation, which is no different from all the other major animated films, it ainât that long of a log sequence until the Marvel joke one.
4.âAnd already the first joke is them playing off the Marvel Cinematic intro. Thereâs so many Marvel jokes in this movie one might think theyâre a bit bitter because theyâre kicking their ass in the movie industryâ Marvel is the dominating force in the superhero movie industry, and this movie spoofs a lot of that, so no duh thereâs some Marvel jokes. Hell, thereâs some potshots at DC, even in the first trailer!
5.âThe welcome to Jump City sign is well within the center of the city. I think everyone knows where they are by the time they get that far inâ Thatâs how it works in real though, or in the least my city is like that. And get used to him being pedantic, even by Sin standards..
6.âI donât think anyoneâs accidentally going to Jump City, one of the most riddled with crime places in the world, right next to Gotham or Metropolisâ IâŚdonât get this one. I mean I donât even know how to explain why youâre wrong I donât even get your point. That accidentally really throws me off.
7.He sins all the references in this establishing shot, even though they are basically cute Easter eggs that are not sins.
8.âBatmanâs not even liked in Gotham yet he has his own buildingâ But maybe Jump City likes him fine. Also, this version of the DC characters is different in tons of ways, so why are you assuming itâs exactly like the other version in this case?
9.âI am upset that this isnât even a gag character. Itâs an actual person who exists in the DC worldâ That same world also has Kite Man and Condiment King. Just saying, the DC universe is weird and itâs not weird for a spoof movie to acknowledge this.
10.âBefore he was crushing buildings with no problems, but now he can squeeze between them without them even buildingâ He was punching at them before to destroy them as they were smaller than him but these two were a bit taller and there was a small space. Do the math.
11.âThe safe is comically huge in comparasion to the actual bankâ Congrats, you noticed.
12.âThis why you canât bring Starfire to a petting zooâ They were balloons. They pop. Come on.
13.âI get it, theyâre supposed to be failed heroes but theyâve done plenty of stuff even in the TTG to be known within their own cityâ Maybe to the citizens or something, but not to this random villain weâve never seen in the show before, and maybe heâs not super up to date anyway.
14.âCanât Wonder Woman still fly in this world? Iâm not sure why they gave her the invisible jet other than lol references are funny againâ. If I had an invisible jet, I would show it off as much as possibleâŚMaybe not âshowâ per sayâŚ
15.Also, the jet isnât really a joke so that doesnât apply here.
16.âOf all the heroes in Jump City, they had to pull out the A squad for Balloon man?â He still a pretty decent threat though, with all the destruction he was doing.
17.âThey only make movies about real heroesâ âBut theyâll sure as hell make a Netflix original about just about anyoneâ If youâre referring to the Marvel shows, they're about pretty well liked and solid heroes, even Iron Fist isnât that silly or an idea given their roster.
18.âThe titans can afford to make their own movie, they have a private island and own a giant buildingâ You mean like they do make? The one Robin dislikes because it is is so rnky dinky and he wants a serious Hollywood movie?
19.He really over analyzes a background reference to Young Justice.
20.âFurther proof that the bat credit card has been canon all alongâ How does that Utility Belt movie prove this?
21.He shows off a fairly lo0ng clip just to sin another background gag. He likes to run the clips for too long, almost like he wants the video to be longer for extra watch timeâŚ
22âBreaking the 4th but yeah, heâs not Deadpoolâ That would work better if not for the actual Deadpool joke they make later. Oh and this character that character!
23.âI get it, this is a comedy movie-â And thatâs when you should have stopped talking. His sin is that Slade being more comedic is âinsultingâ even though it really isnât.
(By the way, this scene has them thinking Slade is Deadpool and Slade finds that comparison stupid because thereâs plenty of guys with swords like him. The Titans would be amazing at Cinema Sins!)
24.He says heâs removing a sin for the Circe of Life spoofâŚbut he ends up adding one. Whoops.
25.âBatman kills a baby-â In a dream sequence.
26.âThis improvised song already has a billboardâ A visual gag for a song is a sin I guess. Also, no sin removal for this?!
27.âThis might be a bit overboard for a nitpick-â Lol.
28.âWould it have been okay if his dad wasnât a cop?â No, but that fact does make it a bigger deal.
29.âStanâs cameos are not subtle but neither are the references in this movieâ And yet when they are subtle, you sin them anyway.
30.âLeaving them with the permanent injuresâ âAnd huge medical dat making him go right back to that life of crime-â Yes, because if he didnât have bills, heâd justâŚgive up crime for no reason? Also, I have no idea what he says but it sounds like âDatâ for screw it.
31.âRaven, who didnât know the time cycles even existed prior to this was able to summon them from an unknown location because thatâs how her powers work nowâ Thatâs how theyâve always worked but okay.
32.âWhen I think of rad, I definitely think of terseness are on tricyclesâ What, you donât?
33.âWhatâs up with the 80âs fetishim in this movie? Take on Me, Tricycles-â I donât think Tricycles are an 80âs thing.
34.âAnd Batman doesnât remember the Teen Titans being the ones that pushed his parents into an alleyway to be brutally murderedâ Eh, itâs scarring and all but I can buy him not remembering their exact faces and hey, they donât dwelll on it too much since youâre not supposed to think about the logic in this silly movie too hard.
35.The bit where Cyborg and Beast Boy fal to be saved prompts him to go into this long winded rant on how itâs not possible. And I thought the previous sin was pedantic. This is after he sinned the movie for having bits that go on too long, by the way.
36.The sin counter randomly drops to 42 before going back to 85 in the next sin.
37.âSuperman skips leg day, because thatâs what happens when you can fly anywhereâ âŚK?
38.âYou already have Netflix, so thereâs literally no reason for thisâ This is on a bigger scale and tell that to DC.
39.âCan you guys mainly do this so that Robin can get the movie? Wouldnât this be the right choice?â I have no idea what you just said.
40.âHe would have to keep up this facade all these years to compete these moviesâ Correct me if Iâm wrong but thereâs nothing to indicate âJade Wilsonâ has been around for years, just that sheâs a big director and those can rise fairly quickly sometimes.
(Frankly the real sin is that he didnât just give the Robin the movie right away so can finish his plot quicker. Seriously, he just made it more complicated for himself)
41.âSlade, instead of using the swords and guns he has, decides to instead blow up an entire townâ I think thatâs far more efficiency in this case though.
42.âFor a plan this is pretty retardedâ Ugh.
43.âAdded camera shake to make things more intenseâ Yes, that is why they did that, well done. Also, I hardly even noticed that here.
44.â-And I donât mean that shitty Netflix original series were Starfire looks like a hookerâ Itâs not for Netflix and something that way you worded that bugs me.
45.It says Episode Sin Tally.
SINS VIDEO SIN TALLY: 45
SENTENCE: Mind Manipulation
Yep, our old friend Moliminus actually beat SeriesSins to it. I wanted to give SeriesSins time to do his video, but his taking his time so here we are. I will do his sometime in January if all goes well. I think this is the most sins for an off brand video, but thatâs only because this video is 27 minutes long for some reason.
Anyway, I want the SinsSin post that goes up closest to Christmas to be a Cinema Sins video, so weâre doing Off Brand sins next week as well. And with it, we go back to a 2000âs animated movie.

15 childhood crushes that embarrassingly ushered me into puberty EXPLAINED! (Pt. 2)
10) Jenny Blake from The Rocketeer (1991)
I have weird memories of The Rocketeer in that my family owned it on VHS and I watched it several times as a kid, but for the life of me I can barely remember the plot of the film (something about Nazis, the mafia, and Howard Hughes?) But damn do I remember Jennifer Connelly, going from playing the bratty teen heroine in The Labyrinth to playing this role, which she is so unfathomably stunning to the point where she looks like a painting of a pin-up girl on a B-52 bomber come to life. Connelly as most of us know would go on to have a successful Oscar-winning Hollywood career, which she undoubtedly deserves for being a fantastic actor...but sheâs also adopted the Hollywood waifishly thin lifestyle. Iâm probably not alone in preferring a full-figured Jennifer over the 0% body fat A-Lister sheâs become. Iâm not shallow, I just grew up with hearts in my eyes for a sexy full-figured woman with more curves than Mulholland Drive. Va-va-va-vroom!
9) Lola Bunny from Space Jam (1996)
Ooooooook. Oh boy--where do we begin on this one?
Itâs one thing to crush on the fictional cartoon characters Iâve previously mentioned. Sure, Jessica Rabbit and Jasmine arenât real but theyâre animated representations of female human beings, with Jessica being created specifically as a caricature which youâre supposed to be sexually aroused by. There are other animated ladies on this list Iâll get to, but none is more confusing and rather inexplicable as Lola Bunny from Space Jam. And when I say âinexplicable,â I mean it -- I donât know WHY I was attracted to this non-humanoid anthropomorphic rabbit who most of us recall was created as a love interest for Bugs Bunny despite having never appeared in any Looney Tunes related content prior to the movie and, as far as I know, hasnât become a mainstay since then. Sheâs also good at basketball...and apparently has been adopted as feminist icon for her âdonât ever call me dollâ persona and athletic ability. I supposed that explains the attraction I had to her, along with her breathy baby voice and her Toon Squad jersey that was pretty much a sports bra and athletic boy shorts that accentuated her rather voluptuous curves--UM, WOW, letâs just move on?!
(it also doesnât help that cosplayers are now âhumanizingâ her at comic conventions...)
8) Belle from Beauty and the Beast (1991)
Heeey, speaking of implied beastiality...
(shut up, I know)
While Ariel was the first Disney princess I became fond out in my early childhood, Belle was definitely my first crush. If you were to take all the character traits I talked about Ariel and Jasmine having that made them such endearing characters and combine them into one character, you would get Belle. Sheâs intelligent, independent, inquisitive, and rejects societal expectations in lieu of wanting more than some provincial life. More importantly, sheâs selfless, empathetic, and lacks shallowness, all which plays in her favor when the filmâs title finally pays off. There is, of course, her other attributes which help her live up to the filmâs eponymous title: Belleâs unique look makes her not only one of the most beautiful Disney princesses, but also one of the hottest. If youâre puzzled about whatâs so âuniqueâ about her look, Belle was the first DP to have brunette hair and brown/hazel eyes. Thatâs right, after fifty-four goddamn years of showing blue-eyed/blonde-hair Aryan damsels in constant distress, Disney added some color to their characters--er, WELL, um, at least Belle was not a passive victim like her predecessors who just waited for Prince Charming to show up.Â
Also, seriously, just scroll back up and watch that GIF a couple times. HOW COULD YOU NOT LOVE BELLE??
7) Dr. Chase Meridian from Batman Forever (1995)
So does anybody even remember Batman Forever? It seems to be the one Batman movie nobody seems to have a definitive opinion regarding. Then again, Batman movies seem to be judged on a binary system; theyâre either the brilliant, near flawless The Dark Knight -- or the total nuclear meltdown shitshow of Batman & Robin. And right smack dab in the middle of this scale is Batman Forever, a movie that is awful in every sense of the word but is vastly more competent and enjoyable that its successor. One of the subplots deals with Bruce Wayne finally acting like a responsible human being and not the raging billionaire psychopath who beats up criminals from Gothamâs lower-socioeconomic class which he thinks makes him better than the villains and visits psychologist Dr. Chase Meridian.Â
Like Lola Bunny, Dr. Meridian is a character who has never existed in any Batman/DC Comics medium, with her sole purpose being love interest to both Bruce Wayne *AND* Batman because tension(?) Then the movie ends and Chase is never seen, heard, or spoken of ever again in anything Batman related. Nevertheless, this was my first exposure to Nicole Kidman and I was quickly enamored by her beauty and seductive charm, which while was undeniably sexy coming from her breathy voice and Veronica Lake hair, it also makes for a confusing narrative. See, Chase isnât a villain, but acts like a femme fatale looking to ruin Wayne with lust and psychology.  Â
6) Janet...Miss Jackson, If Ya Nasty*
*yeah, I went there
Being born in the mid-80âs and growing up during the 90âs â where before the term âMillennialâ was uttered, my generation was referred to as âReagan Babiesâ â you bet your ass I was raised on a steady pop culture diet of Michael Jackson. By the time I was old enough to start listening to music that wasnât Raffi or Disney sing-alongs on cassette tapes (jfgi, kids), MJ had already reigned as the King of Pop for over a decade with the albums Thriller and Bad. Sure, I was aware of the Jackson Family, but if you rattled off the names Jermaine, Randy, Jackie, Marlon, La Toya, and Tito to me, Iâd give you a deer-staring-at-another-deer-staring-in-headlights look. Far as I know, there were only two Jacksons: Michael, and his little sister Janet...Miss Jackso--NOPE, not gonna milk it.
Contrary to my lame-ass dated reference, I got into Janet much later than the Control / Rhythm Nation era. Oh I knew her music fairly well, from her duet with brother Michael on the song âScreamâ, to the mid-90â˛s pop/House/dance track âTogether Againâ, but it wasnât until her 2001 comeback as a pop superstar with the album All For You did I go from viewing Janet as the âcool and badass sister of MJâ to âdaaaaaaaamn, girl!â She could dance like no other, sing infectiously catchy tunes, and showed off a bubbly, fun personality. Oh yeah, she also had an impossibly perfect body, managing to be in better shape than most (if not all) of the teenybopper pop stars of the time nearly half her age. And that was all before I listened to her song âWould You Mindâ off the album...wooooo [*wipes sweat off forehead*]    Â

Building cosplay can be a fun but challenging craft. This cosplayer takes it to a whole new level! Meet Amanda aka Rumplestilt Seam. She is a Texas based cosplayer that builds elaborate costumes that are quite frankly stunning to look at in person. Amanda is a seamstress who does commission work which you should go take a look at. I reached out to Amanda and asked her some questions in regards to her cosplay hobby.
(Danniel Slade) Can you start off by telling me a little bit about yourself?
(Amanda Phillips) My name is Amanda, Iâm 25 years old and Iâm from The Woodlands Texas. I go by Rumplestilt_seam in the cosplay community and I have over eight years of stage and theater experience under my belt, so naturally it was the obvious progression to move onto cosplay. Iâve been doing cosplay and costuming for a little over seven years; Iâve created award-winning costumes and skits, as well as having a piece accepted in the Dallas A-Kon 28 Cosplay Museum. I enjoy cosplay from different genres including anime, video games, comics, TV shows, and Movies. I tend to lean more towards DC Comics heroines and video game characters as well as a plethora of mashup and crossover pieces.
(DS) How did you come up with the name Rumplestilt Seam?
(AP) Itâs kind of a funny story. I was for the longest time going under the alias âAdnamana12â which is my name backwards and the number twelve, and not so surprisingly people had a hard time pronouncing that. So, one evening I was posting about a costume I had finished recently, and I had a friend comment, âWow! Girl, you spin out costumes faster than Rumplestiltskin spins gold!â and then it clicked. I came up with a play on Rumplestiltskin, RumplestiltSeam since I sew/am a seamstress.
(DS) What fandoms are you into?
(AP) So MANY! To name a few though would be: Supernatural, Game of Thrones, Marvel/DC, Harry Potter, Stranger Things, Anime, and some old school 90âs-00âs sci-fi like Stargate SG1 (and Atlantis), as well as Farscape. But really, Iâm into a lot of different stuff including Video Game famndoms, if I were to keep going this whole interview would be about Fandoms haha.
(DS) When did you get into cosplay?
(AP) VBS of 2011. It was video game themed and they allowed the volunteers to dress up and I went as the cheapest looking thrift shop Princess Peach in a Dolly Parton wig (I kid you not) haha! But the kids loved it, and I loved it, so I started to do it more often and put more thought into my costumes. Eventually I took the big leap and started making my own costumes from scratch and the rest is history.
(DS) How do you choose what you are going to create for cosplay?
(AP) Thatâs a question with a very dull answer haha. I usually just choose things on Impulse. Iâll see something I like A LOT and just BOOM thatâs what youâre cosplaying next. Unless itâs for a competition, then I listen to a bunch of different music/song tracks and try to narrow down who would fit what best, figure out a routine, and then choose.
(DS) In total, how many costumes have you created over the years?
(AP) Itâs somewhere around 20ish.
(DS) Do you have a favorite costume that you want to wear over and over?
(AP) Sith Snow White definitely! I also love wearing Ciri, but sheâs so dang hot to wear here in Texas with our Summers.
(DS) What was your easiest build?
(AP) Easiest build was Genderbent Meriln (BBC) I made for TRF last year. It was easy because I literally made it from fabric scraps I already had, I only needed to buy the fabric dye (Blue dress wasnât always blue) and the jacket.
(DS) Now on the flip side, what was your hardest build?
(AP) Hardest was an all foam armored Cat Woman that I hand sculpted and built up the motorcycle style helmet with long angular cat ears. Took me almost 9 months to complete, mainly because I didnât know squat about foam smithing at the time.
(DS) What is your favorite convention to cosplay at?
(AP) Right now, itâs Comicpalooza in Houston. Itâs local to me so itâs almost guaranteed that I will attend every year, I also usually compete in the Cosplay Contest.
(DS) That was my next question! So you have competed in a cosplay competition, have you ever placed?
AP: I have! Iâve competed six times and placed in five of them! I usually compete in the skit division (as I mentioned before I used to be a pro dancer) since I like entertaining, but that doesnât mean I skimp on craftsmanship! I always do prejudging and try to make at least 80% of my costumes for professionality sake.
(DS) What is your next convention that fans will see you at?
(AP) The Texas Renaissance Festival (Unsure of which weekend(s) right now), and Oni-Con in Galveston Texas on November 9th- 11th (Oni-Con: https://oni-con.net/ , TRF: https://www.texrenfest.com/)
(DS) You recently acquired an embroidery machine. How has your life changed now that you have it, what are your plans with all that power?
(AP) I feel like He-Man âI have the POWER!!â haha! But for real, Iâm still only learning how to use it. Right now, Iâve been making Dice Bags; but as I familiarize myself with it I do plan to use in Iâm my commissioning business as well as personal projects. I feel itâs a game changer for any cosplayer to invest in an embroidery machine for sure.
(DS) What is on your cosplay bucket list?
(AP) SO MANY THINGS. Flame Atronach from Skyrim with lights and smoke effects. Anything designs from Artist(s) Noflutter, Hannah Alexander, or Sunset Dragon. I LOVE detailed pieces, and those artists make DETAILED pieces.
(DS) Outside of cosplay, what do you do for fun?
AP: Not much really. I know that sounds kind of lackluster, but what I mean is Iâm a pretty simple and easily entertained person. Iâm satisfied to sit and watch Netflix all day or read a book (Currently engrossed with The Witcher series). Iâm seriously awkwardest of potatoes in real life haha.
(DS) Are there any other cosplayers that inspire you?
(AP) Yaya Han, Kamui Cosplay, Jessica Nigri, and Cowbuttcrunchies are my biggest Cosplayer inspirations in craft and business models. Theyâre all such strong women of the cosplay community, and I want to be like them when I grow up.
(DS) What would you say to someone who might want to build their first costume but donât know
how to get started?
(AP) Find your niche and grow with that until youâre ready to build a new skill. For example, I am a pretty solid seamstress, itâs what Iâm good at. But I canât really craft with Worbla or foam at the same skill level, but itâs one I currently working on. It may not be the same for everyone, some may start out being a makeup/wigs wizard but canât figure out the working end of a sewing machine or start out with people thinking youâre part Tolkien Dwarf because you can craft armor like one, but you donât know the first thing about styling a wig. And vice versa. Donât get overwhelmed by trying to learn and do everything all at once, ease into it and learn it all at a healthy comfortable pace.
