What fandoms do you write in?

Literally just various Star Wars media atm. The main focus for 2024 was the prequel era, mostly The Clone Wars and some Bad Batch.

How many words have you published in 2024?

172,387 according to my stats. I wrote more than that though, and I still plan on posting and backdating approximately 5 one-shots I wrote in 2024 but never got around to post.

What are your top three fics you’ve written this year?

I despise/love them all equally I guess if I had to choose, I'm still really happy with these three: Wanted, a gift for @omaano in which Dogma gets morning snuggles from Tup and Fives. Idk why this pairing is so rare, they're underrated!! The Meaning Is Ours, the first fic I ever wrote that's entirely original characters, for the 2024 Trans Clone Week. Both Hunter and Prey, my fic for the DinLuke mini bang in which Luke is a vampire and on the hunt for a certain Mandalorian. I just think it's hot sklfjadlksfj.

What was your biggest pit of despair moment?

Oh boy... maybe writing the gift fic for the Star Wars Rare Pairs exchange. It just kept getting longer and longer!! Which, really, I should have probably expected, because among other ships my giftee requested Polybatch with a focus on Echo getting railed and I just couldn't resist, and of course all the Batch members wanted a turn. And the fic kept being a thorn in my eye even after it was posted because people would request another fic based on a flashback scene that's maybe one paragraph long, all without complimenting the 13k I'd already written 😭 like, you really expect me to write more fic for you when you can't even comment on the fic that's already there??? Idk what to tell you but fanfiction writers aren't content machines where you can just press a button that says "Next story, please!"

What have you learned?

That people will love the fics you think are hot garbage and entirely pass by the stories you put a lot of thought and energy into. It's an old lesson but one I have to keep re-learning.

What three fics have you read this year that you love?

I have to admit that I don't read a lot of fanfiction, but these three I've found in my bookmarks: Ready Room by countessofbiscuit, in which Fi and Corr make out - ultra rare pair content from the Republic Commando novels and so sweet and silly (like Fi) and just a tiny bit bittersweet! Nine-Seven by Trudemaethien, with some platonic Sev & Niner. It's just so refreshing to see aroace headcanons finally arriving in fandom. Save an AT-RT (Ride an ARF Trooper) by BilbosMom, WaxerBoil, containing both smut and humor - my favourite combination!!

What ideas are percolating for next year?

Nothing concrete so far. Maybe finish some of the WIPs in my pile, try to write more than one fic for the Codywan First Kiss Bingo so I'll at least get a bingo, and try to write something for the @cloneshiprarepair monthly ships (go check out this event btw, there are some crunchy ships getting served up!). Probably try to sign up for fewer exchanges because I can feel my interest in Star Wars slipping.

they definitely aren't comfortable with this goofy/pluto thing going on (or it's like that ducktales 2017 scene where there's the anthro ducks and regular ducks in the same place). added with how pokemon talk, and they probably think that world is horrible to be in LMAOOO

Hello!! This ask was sent to me very early in the season, and since then two other people have asked similar things and I’ve started and restarted the answer at least 5 times. DEEPEST apologies for the late answer anon/s if you’re still hanging about!

“Follow” is such a generous word for what I do lol!! These are like, vague vibe checks with a side of hockey interest for flavour. Please don’t come here for deep insights or super serious takes on prospects I have no method or process to speak of and mostly just drift around getting attached to whoever looks fun! <3

Who goes 10th overall?

If you go looking you’re gonna hear a lot about how this class just isn’t that deep. I’m coming to understand that this doesn’t mean a lack of talent, it simply means the “project” type players start a lot earlier. If you’re drafting in the top 4-5, the going sentiment is you’ll probably get a top-6 NHLer, but beyond that there are fewer guaranteed hits in the first round than usual.

Given this, I feel that it’s such a crapshoot to try and predict who goes where. It really will depend on who drafts 10th and what type of player they like, and despite my appetite for losing dogs idk what every basement team needs in their prospect pool or who they’ve been inclined to draft in the past. I don’t know if I could make a serious prediction here, I’m sorry <3

For the sake of the exercise, I would say Caleb Desnoyers. Lots of buzz right now!! He’s a late riser, and though I’ve seen him listed as high as #5 in draft rankings I think having no standout tools will knock him down a few places in favour of some guy that’s 6’2 and can’t use his inside edges (MANY such cases)

Desnoyers is a coach's dream apparently, and despite a lack of flash he earns critical minutes wherever he goes. He’s described as a hard worker who plays an honest and consistent brand of hockey, a “winner” if you will. He’s considered right outside of that truly gifted tier but has a lot going for him in terms of character + work ethic. I’m sure some team is going to be very happy drafting him and letting him cook in juniors/the AHL for a few years before bringing him in at 3C.

Who are my favourite prospects

This entire season I’ve really enjoyed live blogging the WHL’s weekly free streamed games (Wednesday Night in the Dub -> #wntd lb) and have become quite attached to a few guys! Beyond that, between cracking open backdated draft guides and scouting podcasts and following my various NHL teams, there are almost too many to mention <3

By far my favourite prospect currently is Luca Cagnoni (2023 SJS #123) whom everyone will have seen recently on account of how I was experiencing crazies beyond mortal comprehension during his NHL debut (the first couple times I drafted this I said he would definitely get a call-up <3)

He is a shifty, smart, puck moving defenseman, and he’s just so fun to watch. No panic, always has a plan if he’s got the puck, lots of slick one-touch passes, lots of excellent stick checking, lots of noodling through people with his skating <3 He was excellent when I watched him in juniors and he’s only gonna get better with our young core. I loved seeing what him and Celebrini were able to accomplish during their short time together in preseason.

Cagnoni’s story is the stuff movies are made of, going from undrafted in the WHL -> being the first defender from his draft class to play in the NHL. I know it’s too early and he’s still got a long way to go before he’s a regular in the NHL, but what he’s already done this season in his first full year playing pro in the AHL has been stunning.

During the offseason there was some speculation that we’d send Cagnoni back to juniors with the Winterhawks. Instead, he was one of the last camp cuts in preseason and got sent to the AHL where he carved out a permanent spot playing pro. Everything I read from coaching/management has him ahead of schedule. He has exceeded all expectations. He’s 20, he turned 20 in December, he’s one year younger than the other undersized puck moving defenseman who made a splash this season (we have Lane Hutson at home…..)

Post-deadline the Sharks, who are hurting for defensemen (the eternal search to fill EK65’s hole) (THE HOLE HE LEFT. THE HOLE HE LEFT), have called Cagnoni up. The other night we watched him get thrown into the deep end against the Canes, who are known for their fierce forechecking, and we watched Warso send him out for the critical 6v5 minutes at the end when they were trying to tie up the game. He’s gonna be so good. I write this with tears in my eyes like I’m soooo emo about this kid <33

Barring disaster I think Cagnoni is going to make it real hard to keep him off the Sharks next training camp. He probably won’t make the cut (depending on how contracts shake out over the summer) but I’m not penciling him in as a Cuda mainstay either.

I know he’s not exactly GM Mike Grier’s usual violent-goodboy / skilled bigboys with glaring issues on draft day type — but he’s a Grier draft pick nonetheless. I think it has to mean something that he was picked by Grier in spite of the size thing. If I’m wrong and he gets tr*ded on the draft floor or over the summer you will see me on the evening news + in the liveblog tags of whomever he goes to !!

Every time people have doubted Cagnoni he has proven them wrong. I can’t wait to see what he does next!! <3

From the 2025 draft class in no particular order:

Ivan Fomin (Cocaine Rabbit)

SHRIMP (rabid variety). He is playing on a bottom tier team in one of Russia’s junior leagues, likely not on any NHL team’s radar, and stands at five-foot-nothing. Since I heard some guys talk about him on a podcast (transcript here - featured on my pinned because i LOVED it) I’ve come to root for some team to take him in, like, the 7th round of the draft and let him cook for 4-5 years and see what happens.

His shift compilations I can only describe as watching a little dude go extremely hard, vs guys that have more than a foot on him, for 40-60 seconds, risking life and limb for the puck. Intensity is the word here, and cocaine rabbit is an apt nickname. I worry for his health and safety. HE HAS TO MAKE IT PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE.

Victor Eklund (the smaller, more evil Ekky)

Won’t lie, half the reason I’m fond of him is because I keep hearing about how he “seeks more contact” than his brother William. I love a spark plug, and he was one of the hardest working players on team Sweden at this past WJC. He worked his way up that team’s depth chart, going from the 4th line to taking on critical minutes in their final games, all while being their youngest player. I really don’t know much about him at all but I really need him to come to the Sharks and cause a Swedish locker room schism.

The other name you’ll hear in conjunction with Victor’s is the other big Swedish draft-eligible, Anton Frondell. Frondell was a projected top 5 pick coming into the season and fell a little in draft rankings due to injury and since coming back he’s playing at a blistering pace. Victor Eklund as far as I can tell has been considered as hovering just outside of the top 5 tier by most of the big draft ranking lists (though he’s got his dedicated supporters !!).

They both play on Djurgarden in the HockeyAllsvenskan and last I heard they’re linemates and pretty good friends! It tickles me knowing that somewhere out there scouts are having heated debates about whether Vekky is an Anton Frondell merchant or if Frondell is an Eklund merchant <3

Sidebar: it would be stupidly funny if Victor Eklund fell to 10th because he’s smaller + a winger. I was listening to a Ducks podcast and one of them said it best: he’s everything we love about watching hockey. The energy, the speed, the skill, and the violence. Unfortchies he’s not 6’4! <3

Benjamin Kindel (Bindel! Who did NOT embarrass me in front of all my friends at Wednesday Night in the Dub)

A fun watch every time I’ve managed to catch a Calgary Hitmen game. The passing, the pure skill is !! Wow!! He’s . idk. Tactically very fun? He chains together plays with fakes, dekes in tight, passes you don’t expect. Don’t have to be a hockey genius to recognise and love that kind of player. He’s one of those public scout darlings you hear about again and again if you’re really listening. I find it all so fascinating… I love to pick out guys draft writers and prospect analysts fixate on. He also wears #11 and I have a big soft spot for #11s <3 

He’s a HUGE mid/late-season riser and people think he’ll go early in the first round. There’s something about his game that has scouts intrigued, so I do wonder if a team takes a swing — you never know which team will go off the board! 

Cole Reschny (Mr. Glitter)

If you see me post “MR. GLITTER” I’m talking about him. I think by now it’s obvious I’m partial to the skilled type. I must have said this a million times but he caught my eye during a game where I was supposed to be watching Cameron Schmidt (your 2025 draft class Goal Scorer). Reschny has questionable skating according to some — I’m not knowledgeable enough to tell the difference <3

He’s always. doing stuff? He’s very involved is what I’m saying. You can’t help noticing him in a game because he’s always in the play when he’s on he ice — and he is always on the ice. He’s become an all-situations player for the Victoria Royals so there’s plenty of time to get his reps in post-draft. Really excited to see where he goes! Lots of doubts as to how his skill will translate to the NHL (he does a bit of everything and he does it well, my read is that they don’t know what role he’ll take on) but a veryyy fun junior hockey player.

Blake Fiddler (the Stars’ prodigal son)

I did a bit of a trawl through his media during and after a wntd game! Haven’t really paid attention to his actual play but he’ll probably go high (6’4/good skater/RHD), what’s interesting to me is his bespoke rinkrat status!! He’s the son of former Stars player Vernon Fiddler and grew up in NHL locker rooms, deeply admires Heiskanen, and has spent his summers skating with the likes of J.Benn and WyJo.

If the Stars don’t get to draft him, I’ll understand. Given they’re in their contending window, I don’t imagine they’ll keep their early round picks. But I will be sad the whole time </3

Matthew Schaefer (^_^ the Usurper)

How does a guy’s stock actually rise while he’s not even playing? Going into this season James Hagens (of Boston College Remarriage Line fame) was the consensus 1OA. Since around the CHL/USA prospects challenge earlier this season all eyes have been on Schaefer.

I distinctly remember checking in on the prospect writers I knew were gonna be at the event and all of them were enamoured with him. He then made an extra strong statement in the few games played for team Canada at the WJC, and his impact was emphasised by how they promptly fell apart after he left the tournament with an injury.

All of that, combined with Hagens’ production taking a WILD dip (miserableeeee shooting %, pretty middling performances compared to what he was expected to accomplish playing on a stacked BC roster), and Michael Misa exploding in the OHL meant that 1OA was suddenly up in the air. This is a Sharks blog, I know the gaps in our prospect pool. We need a bona fide no. 1 defenseman, there are still doubts about Sam Dickinson, and like many pundits I suspect we’ll try to draft Schaefer wherever he happens to fall. 

HOWEVER I have to stress what’s most important is he looks like ^_^ and there was a really fun mic’d up video he did earlier this season where he looked extra ^_^ Darling of the draft class to meeee. I was SO charmed. NHL scholars will look back on these times and ask: does Matthew Schaefer have aegyo? ^_^

Think I could probably list every Sharks prospect drafted in recent years but here are the greatest hits:

Sam Dickinson (No. 3, London Knights)

Drafted #11 overall last season, same draft we got Macklin. Fun to look back and remember that Dickie was a contentious pick on draft day. I remember talking in discord as the Sharks were gonna make the pick and really hoping it was him and being SO excited when we ended up getting him. I’d known about him peripherally from following Kasper Halttunen and checking out the London Knights and was utterly charmed by Dickie’s tiktoker swag <3

At the time, Zeev Buium was still on the board and no one could believe those two hadn’t gone yet, and Dickinson was considered the less exciting of the two as someone who can do a bit of everything. He's very mobile and describes himself as a 2-way defenseman. Interestingly, one of the issues people talked about on draft day was Dickinson’s offensive upside. He responded by breaking a scoring record, taking sole possession of the London Knights’ franchise record for most points by a defenseman in a single season.

Sooooo fun reading scouting reports on him and listening to people talk about how he is progressing. it all sounds so out of pocket?? Like they’re calling him a big stupid jock </3 “decision making issues” and “struggles with high end processing” go crazy as insults ijasdkadjl 

He is SO comfortable on camera and I think that did numbers with the shmedia the short time he was in San Jose over summer?? I anticipate many, many years of our beat reporters mining him for anecdotes for their fluff pieces. Definitely need to start archiving the videos he’s done for London.

And if nothing else, we still have Sam Dickinson Smoke Alarm PSA on this bitch of an earht <3

Kasper Halttunen (Big Tuna. Kalttunen. Hubris if it took human form — meant with deep affection)

Halttunen is one of those we-can-fix-him bigboys Grier and his scouts seem to love drafting. His shot is NHL-caliber, that’s the first thing you’ll hear about him. The rest… well! We love a project <3 No seriously, I love hearing about player growth. He’ll probably never be a Selke nominee but from all reports he’s worked hard to become more than The Shot, and there’s nothing more interesting seeing what guys with the Goal Scorer identity do at the crossroads… <3 (they were giving him the Ovechkin treatment all through WJC, just hilarious seeing penalty killers cheat towards him. He ended up only scoring 1 goal, but his celly was very funny <3)

He seems like a big sweetheart and a goof <- two of the best things a player can be! And I went on an insane media gathering expedition like a month ago. If anyone here remembers that. It’s cool if you don’t, the evidence is there if you check out the Kasper Halttunen tag, there’s a giant chunk where it was just me posting the fruits of my prion disease (Kalttunen Derangement).

He is also one of those guys that gives banger quote after banger quote after banger quote (gmmg keeps drafting guys who were made for baiting Sheng Peng??) Call him a fucked up Christmas jingle because listening to him it’s Hubris All The Way. I aspire to be able to live through this cycle of over-confident sound bites -> being brutally humbled by the hockey gods the way Kasper Halttunen does. I’d simply shrivel up and die. He somehow keeps doing it? A sampler

Quentin Musty (WHO is doing it like him)

Went 1OA to the Sudbury Wolves in the OHL draft and like, by junior hockey competitive cycles that team should absolutely be taking a serious run at the Memorial Cup this season and going all in… last I checked they were getting blown out by teams like Windsor and London (actual real contenders) and even dropped random games to teams at the bottom of the league.

There was this whole thing over the summer where they were playing chicken; Musty held himself out of games demanding to get traded and Sudbury put out a statement that they were suuuper-boohoo-sad that he wanted to leave because they made the house SO niceys for him. He lost the game of chicken. He’s still there. He is trapped there. I think about it all the time. <3  

Also he broke his paw around the time WJC selections were gonna be made and everyone was real sorry for him and then it got SO awkward cause someone leaked that Team USA wasn’t even gonna invite him to selection camp <333 One time when he was 16 he said no to that junior hockey cult (USNTDP) and joined the other junior hockey cult (CHL) and they’ve never let him forget it.

I love when players make choices for themselves and get punished for it yayyyy

Completely baseless speculation but if he gets to the NHL I think he’ll either be one of those players they make clickbait rumour videos about (you know the ones. where he’s like, a “locker room cancer” or whatever phrase they’re using by then) OR he’ll be THEEE Glue Guy of all time holding the Sharks locker room together through whatever slump they’re experiencing in 7 years when we’re chasing a cup. He’s just sooo fascinating to me. 

Everyone else:

Carter George (a little silly, a lot good)

Kings prospect. Oppressed juniors goalie. Really good. Really, really good. He plays behind a team that gives up close to 40 shots a night. He still managed to maintain a .909 SV% this season. He went CRAZY and put up a .927 SV% in his last 18 starts of the season to drag his shitass juniors team to OHL playoffs. They’re vs the London Knights and it’s probably gonna be brutal losses or narrow 2-1, 3-2 wins thanks to Carter <33

I was sooo naive thinking I’d see him in the AHL with the Ontario Reign soon </3 But if he stays on track and the Kings keep to their identity, one day he’ll be standing behind one of the strongest defensive teams in the league . isn’t that scary!!! :3

Aatu Jamsen

Kings prospect. Winger, rapper, hypebeast obsessed loser. I maintain a healthy adversarial dynamic with Marco Sturm because he won’t play Jams on a higher line and scratches him sometimes (this is a reasonable position to have. No don’t check my blog) Jams is cringefail and lame and I love to look at him and imagine pushing him into a puddle. Propaganda post here.

Isaiah George

Smooth skating defensive defenseman. Isles prospect. I noticed him during London’s Memorial Cup run last season, he was very steady and satisfying to watch. Loved gifing his detailed defending. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was underrated his entire career.

He got a bunch of NHL games earlier this season when their entire roster was decimated by injuries and didn’t look that out of place. Patrick Roy threw him to the wolves giving him some tough minutes, which is probably why his microstats aren’t great. But for a kid who went from playing junior hockey straight to the NHL with a handful of AHL games between, he did really well. He scored his first goal already and he was sooo :D <- his smile could save lives actually!!!!!!.

George is back down with Bridgeport for now but I suspect he makes a real run at the main roster next season depending on what Lou Lamoriello does with the aging defensemen on the Isles.

Owen Beck

Habs prospect. 2-way center who is GOATED at the faceoff. Another player I became enamoured with at the Memorial Cup, though he played opposite London for Saginaw. He was such a clutch player for that final game and I’ve been a fan ever since!

He’s had a few games in the NHL and I’m really excited to see him make it full time soon. There’s nothing particularly flashy about his game but I’m struck by his consistent growth and generally very fond of hard working role players. I ride so hard for 3rd/4th liner types who are good at their jobs. THAT’S what a championship roster is made of!! <33

There’s some potential that he tops out as more than a 3C on a contending Habs roster!! It would be super neat if it turned out he had another gear. But it’s a long shot and not why I like him as a player. Regardless, I can’t wait to see where he goes from here !! 

Tory Pitner

NEVER EVER BE AFRAID TO BE SOME GUY’S ENTIRE TAG!!! RAAAH!!!!! Avs prospect. Another defensive defenseman. He’s very raw by all accounts, but SO smart. There’s a couple interviews he did with EP where he talks through the details of the game and how he thinks about defending, and it was just fascinating. Clippings of the interviews here. There are a couple of paywalled articles about him in the New England Hockey Journal that I’m desperate to get my hands on and they haunt me

so I had this little project in the background that I wanted to archive some of my old Hungarian fics under a different pseud on AO3. Just for well archival purposes lol. And since I had some time this week, I almost finished with it (I just have a few multichapter ones that I'm still debating whether to upload or not)

I read somewhere that if I put them all in an anonymous, unrevealed collection, it won't send a notification to people who subscribe to me. This is true.

But

I should have done more research, I guess. There is another way to do it, where you make a new account, add your old account as a contributor, and then remove the other account, but I don't want to restart this process now. T-T

It's all backdated, and if I remove them all at once I think it will only send 1 email, so maybe it's fine?

Hahaha I want to say this is dramatic but having been shunted round the country by my family my whole life the north/South divide is so painfully accurate and prevalent. I've dated southern lads and there was always something that didn't work either they were using me to like, make themselves cool and closer to northern culture? (Like they wanted a girlfriend who had the same accent and used the same pet names as their musician Idols) OR they always slightly resented me or thought they were better than me?

There'd be this unignorable rift there because generally the south of England doesn't want to admit that they've stolen a lot (industry/wealth/culture) from the north? Like my ex definitely didn't believe when I'd talk about how the government funds schools less up north as like backdated punishment for the 80s and that means that just by going to school down south he automatically had a level of more opportunity than I did... Like I feel like to southerners the north/South divide thing is just a laugh like taking the piss out of accents and putting gravy on chips, but for the north who still very much feel the damage done by the divide it's hard to take the piss taking when you know the real issues???

Maybe I'm deeping it more than others do idk but from my own experience it's hard to be politically aware and left wing and dating someone from the south (unless they're Cornish or from a high child poverty area, they kind of get it more??)

(Love the new chapter of Ameliorate!

I also wanted to let you know that the new chapter's date is backdated to July 28, so the fic's listed last updated date is still based on the previous chapter's posted date of August 30th. Which means it's not showing up at the top of the tags or anyone's bookmarks like it would if the date showed that it was updated today, so most people won't realize that Ameliorate updated unless they see your post about it on Tumblr.

I didn't want you to be discouraged if this chapter ended up getting less attention because of the date issue, I promise it's just because the people that aren't following you on Tumblr don't realize there's an update!

I'm pretty sure there's a way to correct the date of the new chapter to today/September 11, I've seen other authors do it on occasion so I know it's possible, but I'm afraid you'll have to ask another AO3 writer or go poking around in your fic to find it. (Is there a date field on the chapter when you go in to edit/update your fic, maybe?)

i have a post scheduled for 10:30pm (i think, something like that) that i have had in progress for over a month. Basically I wanted to start doing semi-annual transition check in posts to just sort of go over and reflect on the highlights since the last one.

But the first one covers the whole first year of HRT and the 6 months of social transition before that and sort of the history before transitioning, so it was kind of a lot to do and I slowly forgot about it until I realized it was close enough to 1 year that my original plan of doing that as a starter background post and then starting the normal check-ins at 1 year made no sense and it should just be the first post on my 1 year tranniversary.

But it’s still a lot of work left to get it where i want it, so I have it scheduled and I’m hoping to sit down and work on it tonight, but also I had a loooooong day at work and i’m tired af especially of sitting at a computer and reading text on a screen.

I also could delay it a day or two but like I‘ll only do that if I make good progress tonight and need just a little more time. My thought was that it can be anywhere from 5/28 to early June because it also works as like a start of Pride Month kind of thing.

The idea was that I have a tag #sabrina’s trans journey (although i want to change all the apostrophe ones soon™) with all the major events that happen but maybe i miss a couple, and then every 6 months I round them all up, summarize, and mention anything important I missed. So then each one links to the previous and next posts (once it’s up) so you can kind of walk through the history of my transition using those posts, and then view the tag for finding anything recent.

And then it works out that I started transitioning socially in early December and HRT in late May, so it’s basically 6 months at a time. Plus the HRT one is right by the start of Pride month, and the end of the school year (which isn’t relevant to me but gives this time of year some reflection and end of a chapter kind of vibes). And the December one is right before the holidays when I have more time off and close-ish to my birthday and to New Years so more reflection and new chapter kind of vibes.

Also basically 1 year after starting my social transition was when I came out to my dad and started girlmoding full time outside work, so that’s nice too. Only major thing I guess doesn’t align with that is my name change and coming out at work in mid-February.

But the first one is a lot bc it’s 1.5 years of posts during the most active period of transition and also the first one so I want to go into the history more. IDK, maybe I could split out the history part or something. Maybe backdate a post to December or something to cover the prior 6 months? idk

i think i need dinner for my brain’s sake first but also i had a kind of late lunch so i’m not super ready yet…

Oh so the other thing that happened this weekend (apart from me sleeping off my illness in mum's bed in between downing lemsip and going on canalside dog walks) was that my dad messaged me

Saying ???? That he wants to change my birth certificate ???? So that he's legally my dad ????????

He's biologically my dad, there's not a single doubt about that, I am basically a carbon copy of him age roughly 16 lmao glasses included - but when I was born, me and mum were still in hospital for a long while, so it was him that did all the paperwork - my sister's birth and death records, and my birth record

And he did a very odd thing - he listed himself as father on Jess's records, but as informant on mine

I've never spoke to him about it, but it means that basically while I was still dying in hospital he was already thinking about not paying child support

He's a lot nicer of a person now he's emerging from the fog of 35 years worth of alcoholism and heroin addiction, tbh

Mum had to tell the government three times when I was a kid they asked her who was the father, and basically dad had put her in the position of having to tell government officials "I know it's an offence to lie to you, but I don't know who the father is, there's too many possibilities, and I only know their first names" - just so that dad could save a bit of money to spend on smack

But like. I guess they are completely separate records, you don't get a little asterisk going "this is a twin, go look at the other record"

Can I ask about your opinion on spamming an account though? If I want to do a -tober thing, that's potentially 31 fics. That would push all my other bigger/ongoing things behind 1-2 pages on my account. I've done a kinktober once, putting them all in one fic, and yea I didn't like not being able to tag every single thing, but i also don't want to spam my account with so many mini fics :( I have nothing against posting little things, even many little things! But every day a little thing for 31 days? Since I mainly write in just one fandom, scrolling through my account for that fandom would be a nightmare T^T

well you're talking to someone with 245 published works on ao3 (and 224 of those in my main fandom) so I might not be the best person to answer this :'D I've written... kind of a lot.

but yeah, personally, I don't consider it spamming my account? I've got smaller fics, I've got bigger fics, and idk, they're all there for people to find if and when the time comes. if someone cares about the wordcount and doesn't want to see mini-fics, there's an option to filter fics based on wordcount, too! sometimes if I'm not in the mood for tiny fics (or very long ones), I do that on an author's works and start with the fics that are best suited for what I want right then.

but I've never felt it's a problem, not with my own or not with other people's ao3 pages if there's a lot of fics. more variety? more to choose from? or potentially more to keep reading! and it's easy to choose what you feel like when they're all their own works.

if you truly want your bigger fics to stay at the top of the page, you can always go in later and backdate the smaller fics? it's possible to change the date on which they were posted, and changing it to a date further back isn't going to hurt anyone. might wanna do it later, though, so they get a chance to be seen first.

honestly, I think it's just very easy to overthink things and this might be one of those moments? I don't think anyone would hate seeing many little fics from you, I genuinely don't :) and the bigger projects are still there to be found! and if they're ongoing, they'll end up back on the top of the page eventually when you update!

I hate that i cant automatically cross-post instagram to tumblr.

I've been mostly not posting anything to instagram as a result and since all the humans i know arent on tumblr but on facebook im posting all the good stuff between fb and instagram while my tumblr, which is the platform *I* prefer since i get my own proper web site with my own doamin name and archives searchable by date but i have a gap of months now due to instagram shutting off tumblr posting.

Good news is that i did a manual post today and it came out looking good instead of looking shitty like they were doing when i stopped bothering.

idk how long ill do this manual get the link to each photo and cross post it to this site that i prefer but almost no one looks at or interacts with me on it. So much hasn't made it over here already.

but I went to see Slim Jim Phantom from the Stray Cats do a show in Kent Ohio and i have a 40 year obsession with this band so im gonna take the time to cross-post these posts at least.

To be clear: my local NHS service waiting time is 4 years and 8 months. I have already been waiting a little over 3 years. When I first got on the waiting list in January 2022 (backdated to December 2021 bc they messed up the referral) the waiting list was 12-18 months and Right to Choose offers for in-person appts weren't much faster (considering I didn't know about the service til a few months in too - it wasn't worth the hassle of trying to change). It has already risen and can only at a stretch be called a viable service, and will rise further if the RTC is curtailed. And here is nowhere near the worst in the country.

It also affects people who have existing diagnoses via this.

Also, according to the NHS themself, referring people privately via RTC doesn't cost any more than referring them within the NHS, so they're just. Curtailing something effective for weird ideological reasons? For no reason? Idk.

And as turquoisedata says, it's not like they're doing this to put more money into NHS pathways. They're just stopping it.

(I have no idea about waiting lists or anything for other conditions but I know they use private services for hip replacements at least and there are so many of them)

Please fight this! British people (especially English people), please write to your MP, call them, make a fuss!

The government, unsatisfied with how easy life is for ADHD people 🙄, is looking to remove the right to choose which has enabled many ADHD people to access a diagnosis and meds.

Even those who have diagnoses already may lose access to meds as a result of this. (Raises hand)

(If you're not in England, you know what, call for Right to Choose to be extended instead because I know getting a diagnosis in Scotland and Wales is even harder (I presume NI too but don't actually know). I'm in England but I'll do that too)

ADHD people have shorter life expectancies. They are under employed and don't earn as much. The global rate of ADHD is 3-5%; the UK diagnostic rate is 1.6%. the people who aren't diagnosed are people of colour and women and homeless people and LGBTQIA+ people and high achievers and kids who are in care. (Taken from a talk I went to this week from an assistant professor who is also AuDHD.)

This is gonna affect those who are already diagnosed and get their meds from RTC as well on those on the waiting list.

This is not ok. Please fight it.

Knowing that Lucas had put a lot of money into the choker he’d given him, Tony put what he had into this endeavor- his time and thought. He didn’t have money, but he had that. So he got one of those gift boxes that opens into a bunch of different pieces like petals on a rose. The sex question game, BDSM mug, cog bracelet, and candle were hidden in the compartments on the box, which would take full minutes to open. The rest of the seemingly one hundred “petals” were scrapbook paper like shown above and pictures of the two of them (together and separate, so stuff they took together, pics Tony has taken of Luke, and pics of Tony that Luke has taken- many NSFW). 𝐒𝐎 𝐍𝐎𝐖, 𝐌𝐀𝐗 can actually call their little adventures a date.  if he’s being honest, all the way back in february, giving her the the chocolates, he’d have thought anyone who told him they’d actually become a couple was crazy. because despite him swearing he wasn’t made for a long-term relationship, here he was. hand in hand with yeseo, giving the cheesiest grin as they their feet strolled against the rough terrain. what town were they in, anyways ? he’s not sure, but he doesn’t even care, as they’d taken the weekend to go far from seoul and all it’s chaos for a little peace of mind and time together. 

now that they had more on their plates, doing typical ... “ couple things ” had become less and less feasible. without much time to see each other, and extremely limited interactions since they’d begun under lgc boys and lgc girls, they had to make do with what they had. and before lgc girls japan and future dreams went into full swing, max wanted one more official day with the girl who’s been on his mind since february.  

“ this is ... pretty exciting, don’t you think ? ” max asks as he turns to her, eyes wild with childish mischief. he’s done some ... pretty daring things in his day - mainly just stupid - but this adventure has filled him with energy few other things have. “ it’s like ... we’re on a secret mission or something. the cool guy meets the beautiful girl, and ... they .... they take over the world ! yeseo - ” in sync with the call of her name, he takes her hand to lift it in the air, their couple watches tapping against each other. his eyes meet hers, and when they do, they travel across her face with a heightened sense of affection. with yeseo’s smiling face illuminated by the street lights, and under the night sky - max starts to believe in the possibility of destiny.  

“ - we’re like the modern day bonnie and clyde ! ” and where, oh where, was this grand adventure max was so enthusiastically describing taking them ? the long and treacherous journey to the unimaginable - on their way to experience the traditional date of stargazing, in new couple fashion.

i want her to pipe up "but you all assumed about the doctor?" when rose points out about the meeps pronouns and everyone look at her like Hang On Who Are You Again? and the doctor quickly move the conversation along to Meep Things before anyone starts asking Questions and i want yaz to shoot him a look that he Pointedly Ignores.

i want them to be all halloween apocalypse team dynamic as they get the family out of the house when all the soldiers come and the doctor surprisedly going "this is a lot easier with two" and yaz being like "took you long enough"

she'd stay with the family to get them to safety, maybe because the doctor orders her to but i dont think she'd listen so i think she'd take the initiative. that way you can still have the big climactic scenes with 14 and donna alone.

i want her to burst out laughing in the end after donna and rose "let it go", taking centre stage for the first time in the whole episode to go "hang on. hang on. tHE DOCTOR?!??!?! the doctor????? she'd have understood???" near hysterical because this day - in true doctor fashion - has lasted an entire year. i want everyone to be stopped dead in their tracks, the doctor as well as anyone else, startled and taken aback and realising we still dont actually know who she is? like shirley does, but none of the others. a friend of the doctor, sure, presumably, but we dont know where she came from, we dont know how long shes been here, just sort of in the background, watching, Being There so reliably that the doctor seems to count on her presence almost like the sonic or the tardis or that net that appears when you jump.

so she introduces herself to them briefly like "sorry. yasmin khan, and..." - looks at the doctor "...not actually entirely sure of the rest, right now". and the doctor looks at her like Not The Dirty Laundry Please I Put On This Whole New Outfit So Nobody Would See The Dirty Laundry. and yaz, loyal and devoted and one lie in two mouths when it comes to the doctor, narrows her eyes like fine. and the doctor turns to their Audience all smiles and is like "yaz! my best friend" "number 56?" she mutters "thereabouts?" he whispers back and they share a look that says we'll talk about The Rest later.

then we can finish the episode almost as it went. get a new look at the new tardis with two doctors at once. the doctor running around the console room while yaz gets her hands on the new console Immediately to figure out the new controls. she'd watch donna and the doctor together, figuring them out too, figuring out the new doctor too. and simultaenously her old doctor retroactively too. thinking about the doctor in her living room as donna talks about dinners and school plays. putting that away to pull him aside later to ask if he......would like that, actually. dinner. "i never got to taste that pakora" he says. "didnt miss much," she says. he gives her a look that maybe he thinks it was, and with that basically gives her an answer to the question she asked.

now wild blue yonder is gonna be more complicated. i think you'd need her to stay in the tardis. you know, lock the doors, have the doctor yell at her a bit through them, give her some instructions for repair perhaps. and then the doctor and donna can go take a stroll while yaz takes care of that. then wild blue yonder can go almost exactly as it goes. and the giggle i think would be very interesting with yaz added in. room enough for a couple of fun conversations. lots of potential with yaz+other companions

Huh... what is up with tumblr’s queue? 

I had no idea that the post I just posted was going to post today, and I’m very confused. 

I actually scheduled that post months ago, but when Will & Grace came back early, I changed the date on it because I was making gifs for new episodes and didn’t want to post too many at once. So that post sat in my queue for a while until tumblr deleted all the backdated posts in my queue, so I thought it was lost forever... and now it just randomly posted. 

What....

I tried to schedule a post earlier this week that just disappeared too. I don’t remember when I scheduled it for (either today or tomorrow I think). I wonder if it will actually post too.
