okay so the rough plan for it was

grian is a clockmaker from 1873 and accidentally learns how to time travel and travels to the year scar is in. scar works for area seventy-seven and thus confiscates grian’s time machine. grian sneaks back in but gets caught. he realizes that since he was on the run for it anyway in 1873, he should just stay in scar’s time.

scar, even though he’s supposed to arrest grian for trespassing, lets him go, but tells grian to stay away. grian doesn’t because he's enamoured by scar (scar is as well but he has a job to do).

a barista named mumbo helps grian adjust to current society + gets him a job. scar goes in one day for a coffee and grian takes his order, flirts with him and asks him out on a date. scar accepts.

Into the unknown

Janus starts to stare into the distance again, into the unknown. Silently, Patton nods, somehow uncomfortable near a Janus who is suddenly tame and attentive, not sarcastic or sharp-tongued as usual. It is so incredible, so unfamiliar, so not Janus at all, that for seconds it feels as if reality has received a crack, like a broken mirror that can only depict a distorted picture of reality.
