What I like ab the tumblr fanfic community is how giving and understanding it is, especially compared to attitudes towards fanfic writers on other social media platforms. Writers here will take requests for free and make beautiful content and when they announce that they’re taking a hiatus or need some time to themselves for whatever reason, people here generally respect that.

Yes this is ab all those tiktoks criticising ao3 writers for announcing they need to take time off. Yes I’m bitter ab it bc I don’t think it’s funny to criticise someone for needing time to themselves just bc you want more free content from them

occasionally a feel-good ad on tv or some soap storyline about a character becoming depressed will have me thinking maybe perhaps we are inching slowly towards better public awareness around mental ill health, and then i open the twitter box and see someone who posts about their own mental health problems suddenly discover some pretty common aspect of actual obsessive compulsive disorder for the first time in their life and wailing in abject horror about how that shit's just not right, why, we oughta just get all those people locked up STAT and well. i suppose i shall simply spontaneously asplode my head on the spot posthaste like a loony tunes bit shall i how about that.
